Smart, sexy and sassy romance
5 stars

This is the first of the Hartigan series that I have read - in fact, the first I’ve read of Avery Flynn at all. But it will definitely not be the last. This book was amazing and so much fun that I just want to buy everything else she’s ever written and read it right now!

While I liked the premise of the book, there’s always the worry that this will be one of those books where tomboy Fallon will get a makeover in order to make her “worthy” of hot hockey man, Zach. Luckily, it wasn’t like that at all. But not only was it not like that, it managed to handle the whole ‘tomboy’ issue even better…by hardly making it an issue at all. Oh sure, there were the social media comments about Fallon’s femininity, and a few minor occurrences of her own insecurities - but that was it. She was a tomboy in the way she had brown hair or long legs. I just loved that, as it really sends the message that we’re all different but that’s not a bad thing and doesn’t define us or make us more/less worthy of love. We’re here for the romance and that’s all that really matters.

And oh boy - what romance. I adore an enemies to lovers romance and Fallon and Zack really did shoot sparks off each other whether they were hating each other or loving each other. The banter was second to none - especially the little text battles which had me squealing with delight. And the little butterflies in my stomach did a happy dance as our hero and heroine started to realise just how much the other was starting to mean to them. But they fought it all the way - naturally!

I devoured this book from start to end. It was the kind of book that sucked me into the story from the very first page and reminded me why I started to read - and love - romantic comedy. Hot romantic comedy, no less. And there were enough naughty shenanigans and dirty chat to keep me very entertained and very happy!

As I mentioned, this was the first of the Hartigan books that I have read - a series focussing on the large, complicated Hartigan family. All their names begin with F just to keep that air of confusion around them. This book stands completely alone although I definitely want to go back and read the first two in the series. In this book we’re also introduced to Zach’s hockey team and I understand that this will branch off into a new series where they find their own love interests. And those will be bought immediately by me, too. Having never even see a hockey game/match/whatever - and really taking little interest in the sport - I’m all in for the hockey romances. Sigh.

I would happily recommend this book to anyone who loves a smart, sassy and sexy romance - I hope you love it as much as I did. And yes, in one scene Fallon does indeed arrive on a skateboard - just like her cover. Just in case you were wondering!

Third book in the Hartigan Series. I really enjoyed how relatable Fallon’s character is . Avery is an new author for me. I was introduced to her books by one of my Instagram friends and I got hooked to her after reading the first book in this series. I love how strong and relatable her female characters are . They have a very realistic and relatable touch to which readers can connect with. I would say this was definitely my favorite book in the series. Definitely an enjoyable and engaging read .

Holy Smokes!!! This book was so good!!! I freaking loved it so much!! The Hartigan’s is one of my favorite family series!!

Fallon is probably my favorite character I’ve read all year!! She makes no excuses about her love of a make up free face, the fact that she would totally get lost in a Sephora, doesn’t like mani-pedis. I can completely relate to her. I’m right there with her, in her lack of fashion interest. She snarky and sassy. She’s self admittedly not nice. But she is! At least in her own way. I love her so much!!

Zach broke my heart with all the walls he had up. They were completely understandable though. I got it. He’s so down on his luck. But his heart is so kind, underneath all his gruffness.

These characters together? Absolute perfection! Tomboy is a must read!!

Tomboy by Avery Flynn is as satisfying as peanut butter and chocolate, as smooth as a glass of whiskey, and as sweet as homemade fudge. Avery’s books are the perfect blend of sweet, spicy, and this time, hockey. Avery’s stories are always one-click worthy, this one should be in everyone’s list of books to read. When I heard that Fallon’s book would include hockey, I couldn’t wait to read it.

As I was getting ready to read Tomboy I'd been asked what was I was about to read and was I looking forward to it. My answer was Tomboy, with a resounding YES!. Once again Avery Flynn delivered a sweet, hilarious, and sexy love story centered on Fallon Hartigan and Zach Blackburn.

We met Zach in Muffin Top, as Lucy Kavanaghs' bad boy Ice Knights hockey captain client. He seemed like a massive jerk, and indeed I felt that way at first. But there is nothing better than a redeemable jerk and Zach redeemed himself with gusto. We learn just why Zach is so closed off. For good reason he has cause to distrust. Letting Fallon into his house will mean he not only does he needs to open the door to her, but he must put aside his fear of real intimacy.

Fallon is only there to help by the request of her BFF Lucy. She has no good other great reason to be there except that she loves the Ice Knights, but the captain…eh, not so much. Which is completely in line with most of Harbor City. When Fallon inadvertently becomes #LadyLuck to Zach, the power of social media creates the #TeamZuck movement and negotiations for Fallons’ time take on a new, and fun meaning. Zachs' “LL” begins to influence the transformation of the much disliked captain. But when Zachs' past refuses to stay in the past and he begins experiencing the old self-defeating emotions, Fallon shows him just how strong (and maybe a bit wrong) she can be.

In Harbor City, with the Hartigan siblings, Avery Flynn creates a world with real life characters and all the emotions, giving the reader all the feels. I really love how she takes what some would perceive as flawed characteristics and turns them into such positives. A great reminded that no one is perfect and flaws are opportunities to unite people. With a million series out there, this one is among my favorites and one I highly recommend.

As a huge fan of Avery Flynn and a self-proclaimed rom-com addict, I was beyond eager to get my hands on Tomboy. I adored the first two books in the author’s Hartigans Series and I was intrigued not only by the seemingly unusual pairing of tomboyish Fallon and a hotshot hockey player, but by the fake relationship storyline as well. The unlikely duo are brought together by a certain pushy publicist, but a case of superstition and a mutually beneficial arrangement have them getting to know each other on a more personal level. There's just the *slight* problem that the entirety of Harbor City is watching their every move...

Thanks to a weekend of nursing professional hockey player, Zach Blackburn, back to health after some tainted muffins leave him at the mercy of her no-nonsense nursing skills, Fallon Hartigan finds herself on the cover of tabloid magazines, being touted as the newest gal pal of Harbor City's Most Hated Man. When his association with Fallon seems to shift Zach's bad luck on the ice, Fallon becomes his good luck charm and suddenly finds herself in a fake relationship with a man that ignites her temper and makes her pulse race. They tease and taunt each other, pushing each other’s buttons, each giving as good as they get. And while the roguish, jaded hockey star is as emotionally guarded and standoffish as the tough, opinionated nurse, the two develop some very real feelings that complicate their agreement.

With a lighthearted but heartfelt storyline, a romance that's packed with sexual tension and off-the-charts chemistry, and characters that are fun, humorous, captivating, and entertaining, Tomboy is another must-read from Avery Flynn. There are so many things I love about The Hartigans Series, but what I love the most is the author’s ability to create multidimensional characters that are so much more than they appear upon first introduction. This series invites readers to delve beneath appearances and preconceived notions to get to the very heart of its characters, which is exactly what Tomboy does with Fallon and Zach.

Fallon isn't very thrilled when the favor her friend Lucy asks of her is to go take care of Zach Blackburn, defenseman of the Ice Knights pro hockey team, the most hated man in Harbor City. And when she investigates and finds that he was given food poisoning by a woman he slept with who has a rival team's, Cajun Rage, tattoo? Yeah she's really not thrilled. And she can just tell that he's not going to be any more likable than she had thought. And so after a weekend of her caring for his ungrateful ass, Lucy walks away.

But Zach's different after. He plays amazingly and he gets it into his head that Lucy's his good luck charm. Will she go for the proposition he has for her? To come to his games so he can soak up her good luck vibes? What about when she negotiates him into volunteering at the clinic with her? As the two start to get to know each other, somehow the sparks neither wanted, ignite, and Zach starts showing Lucy he's not such a bad guy, even if he has a secret he's desperately embarrassed about, one that he doesn't want anyone to know about.

I absolutely loved Tomboy!! It's by far my favorite of the Hartigans series and Zach and Lucy are by far my favorite couple in the series. They're perfect together with the kind of chemistry you can only dream of having with your significant other. Lucy may be a tomboy, but she's the perfect heroine - smart, sweet, strong and has the hugest heart. So it's only fitting that Avery Flynn gave her the perfect hero to complement her. Zach is growly and defensive but he's got a heart as big as Lucy's, and he loves hard. Tomboy is the very best kind of romantic comedy - funny, witty but sweet, and sexy with a whole cast of A+ characters whose hearts are lovable as their gorgeous outer selves.

Absolutely adorable!

I really enjoyed Zach and Fallon's story. It was both a sweet and steamy romance, with characters who it's easy to root for, flaws and all. I especially liked that both of them take such an active role in their relationship, the good bits as well as the not-so-good ones. They were both all in while building their relationship (even while denying that's what they were doing, at least at first...), and both took responsibility (and rightly so) for the black moment. This wasn't a story that needed a dramatic grovel--both characters had a hand in blowing up what they had, and both of them owned up to it--eventually! They had to do some suffering first, of course--bringing us to a very satisfying HEA at last :)

Tomboy is the third in the series, but really does work fine as a standalone--as a bonus, it also clearly sets up several future books about some of Zach's teammates (there's a teaser at the end for the first one), and I for one am so on board for all of them!

Rating: 4 stars / B+

The Hartigans are seriously #familygoals! I have grown to love this bunch with my whole heart and Tomboy definitely put the love over the top! Fallon has had my heart since Butterface! Her ball busting, take no crap attitude makes her one of my fave heroines and who better for “I am an island and will do what I want l” Zach Blackburn! Their only issue is trust and Zach has some demons he needs to deal with before love can be forever with the feisty nurse!

All Fallon wanted was to go home and take advantage of her days off to catch up on some sleep. But a phone call from her friend and future sister-in-law makes her end up babysitting the most annoying guy she's ever met. Her job as a nurse has prepared her for any situation, but controlling the hallucinatory urge to punch the huge man in front of her will be a difficult task.
Zach is the most hated person in Harbor City. The long-awaited and equally expensive new Ice Knights player is not delivering what was expected, and to make matters worse, his closed and even antisocial way, makes him an unwelcome person in a city that lives and breathes hockey. He has his reasons not to trust and not let anyone approach, but in the state in which he is, all fault of a cupcake and a beautiful rival fan, it will be difficult to get rid of Fallon, who apparently is not afraid of his threats.
And what happens when a grumpy player approaches a woman who does not take any crap from anyone and abhors makeup? Many fights. But the unthinkable also happens. Zach returns to present the performance that made him famous and with this, Fallon is elevated to the status of lucky lady. And the confusion is armed.
Zach and Fallon will become the most talked about topic on gossip sites, and while Zach tries to persuade her to help him, Fallon will eventually enter a world where being a celebrity means getting nasty comments about her appearance. Add an intrusive Irish family, unfiltered friends, a great secret to explain Zach's behavior, a team that is a family when someone need them, parents who look more like villains, and a blog with a tendency to gossip, and we have a beautiful romantic comedy.
Fallon and Zach were funny, stubborn, annoying, passionate and simply wonderful. The couple complete each other, despite the fights and strong temper. Fallon does not care for appearances and is content on her skin. Nursing is her passion, the need to help others is what drives her, and by knowing little by little who Zach really is, it is impossible not to fall in love with him. Zach may have tried to keep everyone away, but Fallon actually sees him, expecting nothing in return, without using him for something bigger.
This determined, beautiful woman with a huge heart is able to fill a huge void and bring Zach back to life.
Tomboy was a good read and a great addition to the series. Zach and Fallon deserve to be heard. With several situations that will bring a smile to the reader, it is impossible not to fall in love with these two.

Avery Flynn hooked me with the first book in The Hartigans series, Butterface, and I was desperate for more. With Muffin Top, book two, my addition grew stronger. This third book, Tomboy, is easily my favourite in the series. In fact, it’s a strong four-point-five-star rating, nearly a five-star read. I’m unsure how the future books will live up to this one, but I’m desperate to see.

From the small introduction we were given in Muffin Top, I knew I would be hooked by Tomboy. Both main characters intrigued me, and I was excited to see how their story would develop. From the very first page, this one sucked me into their tale. I was hooked, unable to put the book down, and each new chapter sucked me in deeper.

There was so much to enjoy with this one. From the banter between the characters to the drama they faced. From how easy it was to relate to the characters to the way they developed. From the moments of humour to the more serious elements. There was plenty to be found with this one, with so much more being provided than I’d initially thought.

Plus, yet again, Avery Flynn managed to create a female lead I was able to relate to. I’ve found myself relating to all the female leads in The Hartigans series, and it was no different with this one. It was so well done, without being over the top, and I loved it.

I also adored all the new characters we were introduced to. A part of me is disappointed as there will be a wee break in The Hartigans series as we get our hockey players spin-offs, but I loved them so much the disappointment is almost non-existent. I may want more of The Hartigans series, but I’m super eager to see where the spin-off series goes. I’m eager to dive into whatever comes next.

Without a doubt, Tomboy was another winner in Avery Flynn’s The Hartigans series, easily my favourite, and I cannot wait for more.

I must begin by saying that the Hartigan family is just too much. They are quirky, funny , and oh so much fun to read.
Fallon is an ER nurse and she somehow gets roped into a good deed but she soon realizes that the good deed a.k.a Zach is going to be a disaster . He is the bad boy on and off the ice and now he is laid up with food poisoning in his house . His PR who happens to be friends with Fallon concocts this fabulous idea . GO to him, care for him , , keep him out of trouble and be on her way! Easy Peasy ...not ! She had no idea that he would be arrogant, irritating , pig headed and so damn sexy even when he is sick!
Zach has had his share of good luck and rotten luck this qualifies as the rotten. He may have slept with a puck bunny ….from another team and been tainted in more ways than one . When Fallon arrives at his gate he wants help from no one but as soon as she mentions his PR rep and how this is going to get out of hand . He opens that gate and lets in Fallon and soon realizes that this gal wants no part of him and is no Florence Nightingale, more like a nightmare in a very appealing package with a smart sassy mouth!
Loved it !!

What do you get when you throw a bossy nurse, who loves to help people in with a sick and grumpy hockey player for a weekend? One crazy story, at least that's the way the Paparazzi spin it. This was a fun and heartbreaking story to read.

Another winner by Avery Flynn. Those Hartigans just keep getting better with each book and the heroines are inspirational. I want to be part of the family. I just loved Fallon. She's one who stands up for people and speaks her mind. I laughed quite often. A lot of humor, but there is also some seriousness to the story. Zach comes off as a jerk, but hang in there with him because you learn why and it broke my heart. The characters in this one pulled me right in. It's a book that's hard to put down, but one you hate to see end. I can't wait for more Hartigans, but I'm also excited for more Ice Knights.

Tomboy

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Harington clan is back and this time it’s Fallon’s turn at a chance for love. I was thrilled when I saw that Fallon and Zach were getting a storyline together. They fit one another well and have a banter that keeps everything interesting. Also you know that she isn’t going to take any crap from him and will tell him how it really is. Zach also captures your heart with his story and how is trying to get himself back on track after having everything he thought he had taken from him. Fallon has been one of my favorites from the beginning and her book is definitely worth the read.

AHHHHHHH I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVED TOMBOY SO EFFING HARD! Fallon is a ball buster and I LOVED THAT about her! And Zach, oh he was a surprise too: Sexy and holding a major grudge from something I really couldn't blame him for. He was also surprisingly sweet and caring when he let his inner self out. Fallon really gave him a run for his money too. She didn't put up with his crap and gave as good as she got. She is a heroine I definitely could see myself being besties with!

This rom-com is outrageously entertaining! Fun, sexy, and loaded with plenty of sweetness and snark, this book had me smiling for days! I fell in love with these Hartigans from the first book but I have to say, Tomboy may have beat ALL of them in the TOP READ department with this particular heroine and hero. The story was so witty and funny and incredibly sexy with a sprinkle of sweet that made me sigh. LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF TOMBOY!

Tomboy gets a MAGNIFICENT FIVE ENTERTAINING STARS!

This was such a great read! The writing flowed well, and I LOVED Zach and Fallon together. They had great chemistry, and I loved that neither wanted to change the other. They fell for each other just the way they were. As a tomboy myself, I understand the frustration that other people just can't accept you for the way you are. Fallon wasn't a girly-girl, and I loved that she owned it. Zach and Fallon were both pretty stubborn, and it was frustrating to see Zach think that he deserved the treatment that his parents gave him. Although Fallon's heart was in the right place, she shouldn't have betrayed Zach's trust. Just because you think you're right, doesn't mean you are. The ending was really sweet (and funny), and I love seeing these 2 get their HEA.

I am totally in love with this sweet and funny enemies-to-lovers romance. Zach was a grumpy teddy bear and Fallon had a huge heart. I adored their witty banter and comical exchanges. It was the sweetest thing to see Zach slowly softened towards Fallon. I’m in loved with the crazy Hartigan family and the hotties of the Ice Knights hockey team. I cannot wait to see what the next Hartigan sibling is up to and I’m excited that we get more of the hotties of the Ice Knights.

Zach Blackburn is not well liked in Harbor City. He has a bad attitude and it is showing in his game play. The team is losing because of him but he cannot get back on track. Now he is stuck at home sick as a dog. His manager sends over her bestie Fallon Hartigan to take care of him. After a long day on her nursing shift, the last thing Fallon wants to do is take care of grouchy asshole Zach Blackburn. Zach discovers after a weekend of Fallon caring for him his game improves. To make matters worse Fallon is photographed with Zach and now she has been dubbed his Lady Luck.

It is not long before Zach has to do something he does not like to do. Play nice. He strikes up a deal with Fallon and she agrees to show up to his games. In exchange, he has to volunteer at her clinic. Fallon starts to see there is a softer side to Zach. Will these two be able to make it work or will Zach’s secret ruin his chance at a HEA?

This was another great addition to the Hartigan’s series. I enjoy this quirky family and their adventures in love.

Bravo Avery Flynn!! Another great book! I absolutely loved this book. Now I am having a hard time deciding which is my favorite. Darn you, you marvelous writer you. Darn you!

In this third installment of the Hartigan Series, we not only get to see more Lucy, but we get to know more about Fallon. Fallon is not a girly girl. She doesn't where makeup, fix her hair or date. Fallon is a workaholic nurse. Always taking care of everyone and fueling herself on little to no sleep. Between working at the hospital and volunteering at the clinic, Fallon barely has time for a life much less sleep. So when Lucy calls with a favor she wants to say no. Especially since it is her long weekend off. But Fallon knows something and that something has her saying yes.

Zach Blackburn is the Ice Knights newest recruit and the most hated man in Harbor City. Yep he is an asshole. But all of this asshole came from a really shitty past. He really has some deep dark secrets. Secrets that could ruin what little bit of his life he has left. All this has him on the defensive, kinda like his position on the team. Team member he is not, charity supporter, hell no, friends, none and girlfriend, what's that! Yep he's a loaner.

Zach is sick. So sick he calls the only person he trusts, Lucy his PR rep. Lucy is the only person he has bonded with since the trade. She understands him and helped him when he needed it the most. So imagine what he is thinking when he finds Fallon at his gate demanding to be let in. Dam that Lucy!
How will Zach get rid of Fallon? Beautiful, sassy Fallon. He won't! She will fulfill her promise to Lucy. But what neither of them realize is that this will change the course of both their lives.

This book was amazing. In pure Avery form it has a deeper meaning behind the romance. It is a story that most readers can relate to. Zach has trust issues and Fallon has confidence issues. Most readers, like myself don't have the confidence in ones self and struggle to fit in or feel good about how they look. This book touches on these struggles that are real. These type of subjects and stories hit close to home for some and usually make for the best books to read. I love a good book that has meaning and this book is one.
This book was beautifully written and really touched my heart. I melted when I read this book. There were tears, love and plenty of laughs to go around. I am in love with all of the characters in this series. I am having a hard time trying to decide who's story I love best.

Overall this book is a wonderful steady paced read. It has strong independent characters, who are lovable and real. The story is well thought out and written. It is never rushed and has plenty to keep the readers attention. It is a fun read, full of laughs. I loved everything about this book and you are sure to love it as well. So grab your copy today.
