I've had my eye on Avery Flynn's Hartigans series for ages, but I've just not made the time to read any of them before now. I'm glad I took the time to read Tomboy and I'm really looking forward to reading the first two books ASAP. Preferably before ApollyCon, so I can fangirl over Avery and get her to sign all of them for me.

But that's neither here nor there. I'm supposed to be talking about Tomboy, so let me do just that. I absolutely adored this book. Fallon needs to be my new best friend. She's amazing. So spunky and relatable. I love me a good, grumpy hero and Zach so fit the bill. Of course, there was more to him than met the eye, too. Which makes me love him even more. Fallon and Zach were fantastic together. Their chemistry was sizzling and I loved watching both of them lower their walls to let the other in.

Tomboy was a fun read. I breezed through it in basically one sitting. I laughed, swooned and definitely had to fan myself a time or two. Now I can't wait to go back and read the first two books because, let's face it, I need me some more Hartigans. I have a new favorite bookish family, y'all.

Favorite Quotes:
"If we walk out of here together right now, there's only one way tonight ends."
"How's that?"
"Naked. Sweaty. Drained. Exhilarated. Probably sore. Definitely satisfied."

"I got just that, and I'm about to get it again, not because I want him to put a ring on it, but because I like fucking him. It feels phenomenal."

Holy hell, they really were two peas in an uncomfortably tight pod. Exposed soft underbelly? Cover that shit up with a titanium plate.

She was Wonder Woman in scrubs, out for truth and justice.

Full of sass, snark and broodiness, Avery Flynn's latest addition to The Hartigans series is delightful! I went into it expecting sarcasm and giggles, and while receiving those with a smile, I also got a heartfelt redemption of a guy who seemed too wounded to be reachable. Fallon and Zach were a little slice of warmth that kept on giving throughout. Really enjoyed their story!

ER nurse Fallon Hartigan knew she'd regret it when her bestie gets her to agree to go make a house call to hockey bad boy Zach Blackburn's house, she just didn't realize quite how much until the damage was done! Now she's front page news as the bad boys most recent fling who needs a major make-over to be worthy. Puh-leez! She wouldn't give this guy the time of day, and she's perfectly happy just the way she is thank you very much!

Ice Knights defenseman Zach Blackburn is hated in Harbor City. His personal demons have a hold of his soul, and he's having the longest dry spell of his career. If he can't turn things around and help his team get into the playoffs, they just might throw him out of town. He never expected the snarky nurse to be his lady luck, but he has to admit, things are looking up since she's been around. Can he convince her to stay by his side ... forever?

Each of the books in The Hartigan series to date has been amazing. Then came Tomboy and it totally blew me away. Avery Flynn wrote my spirit animal in Fallon Hartigan, and I have to say this is my favorite book ever from Ms. Flynn.

Fallon Hartigan is a hard-working nurse who really loves helping others. She is happy in her own skin and has never cared about fashion or trying to look like everyone else. I totally got and connected with Fallon from the first moment we met her in this series. She only goes to help out Zach because her best friend Lucy begs her to do so. Zach Blackburn is the most hated man in Harbor City since he arrived and has done absolutely nothing to help the Ice Knights win.

First of all, I loved the banter between Fallon and Zach. They had some serious snark going on much of the time and I loved it about them both. I also love though neither really wanted to be in the other's life, they really could help each other out. I also loved that the more time they spent together the more real they became with each other. Not that Fallon ever acted like more than she was, but it was like she found someone who could finally see and accept her exactly as she is.

The chemistry between Fallon and Zach was off the charts HOT! I loved this couple so much and fell more in love with each passing page. OMG when Zach finally shared all he had been put through by his parents, my heart absolutely broke for him. I loved how protective Fallon was of Zach and cheered as she defended Zach, even when I knew he wouldn't take what she did in the right way. I loved seeing each of them figure out how to fix their relationship and how their friends each made them see the light. Seriously these two people are just perfect for each other!

I've loved each and every book in The Hartigan series to date and with each one I didn't believe Ms. Flynn could top the last, only to be blown away again with each new release. Tomboy is hands down my favorite book ever from Avery Flynn. It is the perfect story for fans of contemporary romance that love smoking hot romance, lots of emotions, and lots of laughter. I highly recommend this book to all fans of romance.

When I finished this book, my first thought was, I NEED MORE HOCKEY ROMANCES IN MY LIFE!! I really, really enjoyed this book. Avery Flynn is a new-to-me author, I'm so glad I decided to read this one.

Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, mix in a jock and I'm so there! While third person writing isn't my favorite, this book was so well written, I barely noticed and it definitely didn't slow down my reading at all.

Avery Flynn is one helluva storyteller, I'll definitely be buying more of her books. And while Tomboy is part of a series, it can definitely standalone. I loved it.

So this is the third book in the series and while Lucy (Muffin Top) spoke to me in ways that most people wouldn't understand, this one spoke to me in a different way.  Let me explain.

I worked for the Dallas Stars Hockey Club from 1998-2004.  Yes, I worked stadium promotions before the ice dancers (seriously) and watched the much hated Scott Stevens skate the Cup on our ice.  I don't think I will ever get that image out of my head but I digress.  I've seen the good, bad, ugly and VERY ugly when it comes to the "other side" of professional sports.  I have seen The Great One (not a fan but that's a whole different blog), named our kid after Brian Leetch and have too many hockey jerseys hanging in the closet.  Red Wing fans are the rudest fans EVER and I still HATE the Sharks.  Oh, and I have a cousin that married Keith Tkachuk.  I know I go on about baseball but hockey is my mistress.  He He!  Ms. Flynn nails the hockey parts in this book.

Zach is a teddy bear, despite the piercings and tats.  He never had it easy growing up and the way his parents treated him in the end, I can emphasize with him on not getting close to anyone or having the trust issues that he had.  Fallon absolutely has no filter but that's what I loved about her.  Fighting for position in her big family isn't easy so shooting from the hip and not having a filter helps.  I didn't quite understand all the tomboy stuff because I felt like Fallon was her own person and didn't need to be girlie for the book to work.  But that's just me.  However, I did get it when the whole social media thing blew up.  And yes, trolls exist.  *sigh*  She's a nurse for Christ's sake.  I don't know too many nurses that spend an hour in the bathroom before a shift knowing that the makeup will wilt within an hour of getting to work.

Ms. Flynn has written another winner in the series.  The sex is hawt, the emotions real and the issues that they both have are relatable.  Plus, Fallon's family is priceless.  Her mom getting into the social media action, Lucy trying to still fix things and the girls with their Sip and Paint nights are golden.  Keep writing and I'll keep reading.

Wow - I love this family. This is Fallon's story. From the first chapter I couldn't put it done. As a favor to her future sister-in-law Fallon is asked to go take care of Zach Blackburn, the new hockey player in town who is sick. Zach has a past that has lead to the way he plays, acts, and treats people. Being a nurse Fallon knows how to deal with difficult patients and will not take no for an answer. It's soon clear why Zach got sick and Fallon can't believe his stupidity. After the weekend of getting Zach better, a photo of them, and Zach playing his best Fallon has the nickname of Lady Luck. Soon Zach and Fallon strike a deal she goes to his games and he helps at her fundraiser. Watching these two grow from a friendship to feelings they were each fighting was so sweet with the sexy times throw in. I loved this story and can't wait for more Hartigans stories but first we are getting some more hockey players. #IceKnights #TeamZuck

Avery Flynn has done a great job with this book! I loved these two characters, especially Fallon. She is down to earth and keeps Zach on his toes. Love the family series and humor always a part of an Avery Flynn book!

I am in love with the Hartigans series. This one is the first female Hartigan that we get to interact with and Fallon was the perfect choice for this one. I loved getting to see the no nonsense nurse take on the asshole, Zach Blackburn. Though as the story develops we learn (like with most bad boys) he has every right to act the way he does. But Fallon won't take any of his crap and since his game has improved since meeting her, she can't let down her entire city by not pretending to be his lady luck. Though the continued interaction between them cannot lead to anything good. Or could it?
I highly suggest this series to anyone and everyone. Even though reading the other two first would be beneficial, this novel reads as a true stand alone novel. So read them in order or don't. Just make sure you read it!

This is the third book in the Hartigans series but it works well as a standalone - and is a brilliant read IMHO!

Fallon Hartigan is the heroine in this story, a nurse who not only works at St Vincent's Hospital but volunteers at a medical centre for those who find it difficult to pay as well. She's also the person that Lucy, Fallon's best friend and future sister-in-law, calls when her client, the ice hockey star Zach Blackburn, needs some care and attention because he has flu - or is it? Now Lucy is his PR but Fallon definitely isn't his biggest fan as he's not made the promised positive impact on the Ice Knights team results and Fallon is a huge Knights fan.... Fallon also is used to dealing with her brothers so Zach's attitude doesn't frighten her away and both are reluctantly attracted to the other but adamant not to give in to that attraction. When the paparazzi photo her leaving, there's going to be another game to be played!

Avery Flynn writes fun, heartwarming stories with fiesty heroines and damaged heroes who need help and support to enable them to open up and let love have a chance. This is a laugh out loud and enthralling read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I've only recently started to watch ice hockey (Go Sheffield Steelers!!) and I actually learnt more about the game and tactics through reading this so that definitely added to my enjoyment. However, I don't think you need to be interested in ice hockey to delight in this romance in which a determined young lady helps heal a strong man who has secrets of his own as they discover love together.  This is a great addition to the series and I have to say that I've thoroughly enjoyed all three of them and have no hesitation in highly recommending them all.

I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

This is the third book in The Hartigans series but you don't need to read the previous books to read this one.

Tomboy is a very well written book that I read in one day because I just didn't want to put it down. This book is fun and swoon worthy for sure.

I do highly recommend.

Fallon has filled her life with her career as an ER Nurse and her volunteer work. The last thing she wants is to spend her free time nursing Zach, a grumpy hockey player, back to health but when her best friend asks for help, she can’t say no.

Zach is a defenseman for the Ice Knights Hockey Team. He already had a reputation for being grumpy and his on ice performance is only making it worse and causing him to distance himself from his teammates and their fans.

After they spend the weekend sparring back and forth as she nurses him back to health, they are both glad to leave each other in their pasts but when his on ice performance improves and the team is winning he thinks it is because of Fallon, his good luck charm. Convincing her to come to his games was the easy part but opening their hearts to each other is definitely the hard part.

These two were perfect together. Fallon sees beneath Zach’s gruff exterior to the loving man underneath and when he opens up his heart to Fallon it is enough to make you swoon. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I loved this one. Tomboy is a the third book in The Hartigans series but it can be read as a standalone. The Hartigans are a big crazy family. This is the first book I read and the series but I now want to read more of the series. Fallon Hartigan is a down to earth girl. She's not a girly girl. She's dealt with a lot as her job as a nurse so she kind of gives it to you like it is. Zach is a hockey player. Zach sexy and a little broody. He's kind of got a bad rep and isn't living up to his hockey skills. Fallon gets suckered by her friend into looking after Zach when he's sick. These two have great chemistry. This one was a fun sweet read.

I adore this series and these characters. They are relatable and funny and I absolutely love this family. I also fell hard for Zach. He is alpha and moody and I couldn't help but swoon when he started to show his softer side. This was such a cute story and I am so excited to read more from this author and these characters.

TOMBOY by Avery Flynn is book Three in The Hartigans Series. This is the story of Fallon Hartigan and Zach Blackburn. Now we get Fallon’s story, another Hartigan sibling. And what a story it is!! Fallon is not a girly girl. She doesn't wear makeup or fix her hair nor date. Fallon is a classic workaholic nurse. She is always taking care of others- to the point of exhaustion. Going on little to no sleep. Between working at the hospital and the clinic, she has no social life nor boyfriend. So when Lucy calls with a huge favor she so badly wants to say no. Especially since it's her long weekend off where she could finally get rest. But something has Fallon saying yes because something in her knows this is important and because of that had her saying yes.
Zach is sick. Super sick so that he calls the one person that he trusts-- Lucy his PR rep. Lucy is the only person he has really gotten close to since the trade. She gets him and helped him out when he needed it the most. Yet what is he to think when he finds Fallon at his gate, waiting to be let him, per Lucy's instructions?
How will Zach get rid of Fallon? Beautiful, fierce Fallon. There is no way!! She will complete her promise to Lucy. Only thing that neither of them will realize is this will completely change the course of both their lives. Will they embrace the change or implode on impact?
I loved the chemistry and connection between the main characters. The emotions and feels that occurred in this story was amazing. I liked how Zach became so swoon worthy. Went from jerk to hero. Fallon had some moments were I wondered if she could have it all. She was one who was a complex woman and the twist of her character was good to see. Just loved reading how everything happens with her. The banter was hot and electric. Overall, another fantastic read by Ms. Flynn.

I love Avery Flynn's books and Tomboy is no exception. The Hartigans series just keeps getting better with each book.

After being a supporting character in Butterface and Muffin top, Fallon gets her own story. She is a no nonsense ER nurse and part of a large Irish family. She can hold her own and is smart, loyal, and funny; the kind of friend a girl would love to have.

Zach is a hockey player for the local team. He doesn't let people see, but he's dealing with a lot. From the very beginning his and Fallon's banter and back and forth were so much fun. Avery Flynn always does a fabulous job with bringing her characters together in ways that let's their relationship change and grow as they spend time together without feeling forced or fake.

As with the other books in the Hartigans and also the Harbor City series there is a healthy dose of humor and hilarious moments mixed in with the romance and love.

You can read Tomboy as a standalone, but I recommend reading both the first two books in the Hartigans and the Harbor City series first as there are fun character crossovers.

I was about to lose it reading this book. It was so good and hit so many true feelings that people battle rather they are famous or not. Tomboy is just a must read because Fallon and Zach are two peas and a pod and momma hit her with the truth one two punch. Yep, the trueness of "she get it from her momma".

Tomboy by Avery Flynn is book number three in the Hartigans series. This is Zach Blackburn (hockey player) and Fallon Hartigan's (nurse) story. I loved the other books in this series but Zach and Fallon's story is my favorite.

Oh my goodness, I just loved Zach and Fallon's characters. I loved the banter between them. This was such an entertaining and funny sexy read. A great book especially when you need to get away from everyday struggles.

FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

MY FAVORITE HARTIGAN TO DATE!!

From the very beginning I was having fun reading this story. It didn’t drag and both Fallon and Zach captivated me thru the entire story. I didn’t just like their journey, I loved it to pieces!! They were ridiculously perfect for each other! From their sexual chemistry to their friendship chemistry, they had the best kind of friction. I loved the growth that both Fallon and Zach underwent in the story as well. They didn’t just journey towards a HEA but they journeyed within themselves as well.

This book can stand on its own in this series, so if you haven’t read Butterface or Muffin Top, this book will not give away any spoilers from them.

Loved, Loved, Loved!! All the yumminess that is Zack Blackburn makes this a great read. Add in the banter, humor, and the amazing character of Fallon and you have a story you won't soon forget! Originally Fallon is just doing a favor for a friend by helping Zack get healthy again. Then she finds herself caught up in a fan frenzy as Harbor City dubs her Zack's Lady Luck!

All the characters in this series are fun with lots of sass and snark. They feel like people you want to call friends. Each of these books has interconnected characters but each can easily be read standalone. I definitely recommend this one. It's a must read.

I am truly enjoying The Hartigans series by Avery Flynn. In Tomboy we get Fallon’s story and continue to see and love the Hartigan family and those close to them! Though this is a part of a series, you can read each book as a standalone, as each book is about a different couple. I have, however, truly enjoyed all the books in the series and highly recommend reading them.

When Lucy, one of her best friends, calls in a favor, Fallon is not happy The favor? Take care of one sick Zach Blackburn, the defenseman for the Ice Knights, who is currently not playing very well. And not very well liked because of it. Begrudgingly, Fallon steps in to help, but then she finds herself his lucky charm and now she cannot get rid of him, but does she really want that?

Now Fallon is attending his games and Zach is volunteering at her clinic. As they spend time together, they get to know each other. She begins to see a very different side of Zach. Fallon was strong and determined, but also very caring. Zach was moody and kept people from getting to close. And neither could deny the chemistry they shared!

I enjoyed reading Tomboy by Avery Flynn. I loved Fallon and Zach so much, their story and the family and friends featured in this series. This was just such a sweet story and I loved getting lost in it.
