Overworked ER nurse Fallon Hartigan can't say no when her bestie Lucy asks her for a favour. Which is how Fallon ends up playing nurse to the hot Zach and then becoming tabloid fodder. Ice Knights defenseman Zach Blackburn talks Fallon into attending his home games as his lucky charm in exchange for him putting in an appearance at a charity carnival fundraiser. Fallon and Zach have a one night stand to get each other out of their systems but what if one night isn't enough?

Tomboy is a funny, drama-filled and steamy story that will pull you in

Tomboy may be book 3 in The Hartigans Series but it can certainly be read as a stand-alone and I would certainly recommend this book to all Hockey lovers as well as rom com lovers.
Zack Blackburn could well be the most hated defenseman in Harbor City nothing has gone right since he joined the local Hockey Team the Ice Knights but up until now that hasn’t bothered him because he doesn’t need to be liked he doesn’t need friends that way he doesn’t have to explain his past and the secrets he is keeping. Getting sick with flu has his PR manager begging her best friend Fallon a nurse to call in and make sure he stays alive.
Fallon Hartigan an ER nurse and diehard Ice Knights fan really doesn’t want anything to do with the man who can’t seem to get it right for the team but the her kindhearted nature takes over and she drops in on him over the weekend to make sure he is ok .
Strange things happen after that weekend, Zack takes to the ice and he plays the best he has played in a long time could Fallon be his good luck charm, even the team coach asks him to make sure Fallon or Lady Luck comes to all the home games now he just has to convince her she wants to help..
I loved this book I loved being on Fallon and Zacks journey as he learnt to trust again and she learnt that you can’t fix someone if they don’t want to be fixed. This book has all the feels you want and need in a great read, I laughed, I swooned and hoped and prayed for a HEA for this adorable couple and Zack is adorable even if you don’t like him in the beginning you will love him by the end. Once again this very talented author shows us that family and friends are important and I love the loyalty the Hartigan family share, can’t wait to see where Avery Flynn takes us next.

TOMBOY by Avery Flynn is book Three in The Hartigans Series. This is the story of Fallon Hartigan and Zach Blackburn. This was a standalone for me. Fallon is a nurse at St. Vincent's Hospital along with volunteering at a low income medical facility. So her time and stress level are stretched. But when her best friend and future sister-in-law calls asking for her help...she has a hard time saying no. Lucy is a PR for Zach who plays for the Ice Knights and isn't a local favorite. Lucy talks Fallon into going to help Zach who happens to be sick and no one to take care of him. Both attracted to the other but have a concept of them in their head that isn't what the other really is, so it was fun reading their story. Really enjoyed this book and will look for more from this author.

A hilarious and witty rom-com about an arrogant professional hockey player and an ER nurse who won’t fall for his charm.

I absolutely loved Fallon! She was everything we all hope we could be if we were a romance novel heroine. Sassy, smart, independent, career driven but also extremely down to earth and shall I say, normal. Her love for sports, lack of expertise on makeup and fashion and ability to skateboard put her character in the “tomboy” category but she was still all woman when she wanted to be!

Zack, the most hated man in Harbor City was such a jerk from the very beginning but slowly grew on me as he let his walls come crashing down and allowed Fallon to see his true character. He had secrets to keep hidden and valid reasons for putting just about everyone at arms length. But even he couldn’t resist the appeal of a woman like Fallon!

Although their relationship started as basically a PR ploy, the feelings and experiences they shared when they were alone were 100% real and raw. I was so happy to see this read end in a HEA and loved the journey the book took to get there!

Another great read from Avery Flynn with all the humor and heart that I have come to expect. I have been a fan of Ms. Flynn’s for a long time and have yet to be disappointed when I open up a new book from her.

I was on #TeamZuck from the moment Fallon rang the buzzer on Zack’s front door and refused to back down. Fallon was everything I love in a heroine – she takes no crap from anyone, refuses to change who she is for anyone, but will also give all of herself to help anyone. Zack was your typical macho athlete, but underneath the cavalier attitude there was a lot he was dealing with that he never let anyone see – until Fallon somehow gets past all his defenses. These two together had that serious love/hate thing going on – but boy was it clear that as soon as they fell they were going to fall hard and fast and steam up pages. I loved the banter between the two, whether it was face to face or via text message, and there was no shortage of both laughs and dirty-talking that they could dish out. But what I loved most was that underneath all the jabs and jokes these two really cared about one another and were just what the other needed.

One of the things that makes this such a fun series is the cast of characters that surrounds the main characters. The Hartigan family is larger than life and tight as can be. They are all in each other’s faces but would go to the mat to defend and protect each other without even asking why. Fallon’s friends are exactly what I’d want in my BFFs – sassy, snarky, and supportive, and not afraid to kick your butt when you needed it. And getting to meet some of Zack’s teammates added even more fun to the mix – and I can’t wait to get my hands on some hot hockey stories that are in the works!

This is the third book in the series but can easily read as a standalone. There are tie-ins to the previous books as well as other series by the author, but enough back-story is given when needed to make this work on its own.

If you haven’t read an Avery Flynn book you are in for a treat, so grab this one and see what you have been missing – but be warned, you will probably want to go back and read her entire backlist of books once you do! And, if you have read one of her books, then you’ll get more of the sass and snark that you would expect all wrapped up in hot romance package.

This is the second book that I have read and reviewed by Avery Flynn and I realized that I love reading stories when the characters are so like you and me. They’re not beautiful people. They’re vulnerable but yet have that fiery soul that you just tend to gravitate to.

Usually when I read a book I like one character more than another. And, if I’m honest, I’ll say it’s usually the guy and it is.

But in this story I really enjoyed both of them equally. They were good together. Fallon had that fiery soul running throughout the course of the book. And Zach was just so smoldering hot and sexy ... yummmm! A bit angry and intense, for a damn good reason, but she balanced him beautifully.

Avery brought us another winner in the Hartigan series. While this story builds around a family, it can be read as a stand-alone too. If you have not read one of her stories, you are seriously missing out.

I’ve been hooked with The Hartigan’s series from book one, heartfelt, funny and with interesting characters. How about the story of the most hated man in Harbor City finding his match?

I have to say the hero was the perfect cliché of the famous jock, connoisseur of women (with very not really thinking with his brain, you know what I mean), with a reputation that preceded him, the bad boy who couldn’t be tamed on the rink, failing on his team for so long that he lost count.
I liked this challenge, reading about that guy who was definitely more than meet the eye.

A woman was going to ruin him for the others and wrecking all the walls and challenging like no one else. Someone so far from the women he used to be, with no filter and giving no damn about his attitude. Straight to the guts.

Once they met, he started to play better and one things leading to another, and with some meddling from the media, privacy was out of option.

I adored their chemistry and how you could definitely relate to the characters, about their insecurities and having that feeling close to home. The heroine was such a tomboy, so natural but mostly judged by her looks, but staying brave and strong no matter what, with her over the top family, and over protective brothers. Their banter was priceless and I appreciated to see his vulnerable side, beneath the surface. They made me laugh so hard, the foreplay on point, so hot together without really trying.

It was once again a tremendous installment in this series, that made me smile so hard, with colorful characters and amazing banter and chemistry. I’ll definitely keep going to read more from this universe, the author keeping some great surprises along the way for sure!

We've met Fallon, sassy no filter nurse, in the previous books about her many siblings. Yes, they are a large Irish family. And we briefly met Zach in Lucy and Frankie's book, he's the troublesome defenseman for the local hockey team. The fireworks are off the charts and the bitchy banter is fantastic. Love how imperfect Zach is portrayed, most athletes are seen as this God-like personality with infallible spirits. Fallon is my favorite heroine, no frills/no girlie girl stuff/no high heels, she says the truth feelings be dampened. If you enjoyed Zach's hockey team then look forward to the spin off series. I was fortunate to receive an early copy, my review was written voluntarily.

Every time I read Avery Flynn's work, I have this exquisite feeling of happiness and warmth inside me. She never stops making me smile and swoon. Tomboy was no exception. I finished it in one sitting and never wanted the ride to end!

Tomboy can be read as standalone but I feel the reading experience is better if you read about the other Hartigan siblings. I love this family. And Fallon Hartigan is totally my kind of girl. She is an efficient nurse in professional life. She is the kind of strong and sassy woman who wants to carry everyone's burden on her shoulder. She has this no-nonsense and straightforward attitude with a priceless sense of humor. Avery Flynn always make her ladies beautiful inside and that's just so inspiring to read in the present society where misperceptions about bodily beauty run amok.

And the battle she is fighting for Zach Blackburn is an uphill one. Zach is the star player of Ice Knight but his performance is poorly affected by his family's betrayal. He is resigned and thinks the worst about himself. Everyone thinks he is a self centred and egotistical guy but he has a completely different aspect of his personality he keeps hidden. I love this sexy hunk of a man full of contradictions. Fallon is the one who makes him think differently. And we have a beautiful story of love, friendship and family.

The writing was extremely entertaining. The fun, the banter, the sarcasm and the emotions all were spot on. I lost myself in the pages and found myself laughing and crying along with the characters. This book is a definition of having a good time.

Tomboy by Avery Flynn is a hilarious, sexy and sassy love story. It has sparks. It has chemistry. It has banter and fun. It has emotions.Avery Flynn has written another brilliant rom com and I had the blast of my life while reading it!

Tomboy is the third standalone in The Hartigans romantic comedy series! While I do own the first book, I just haven't gotten to read it yet, I can say without a doubt that each of the books can completely standalone. All in all, I think this was a really cute story. I love reading books about characters who do good deeds in life and this one hit that mark. Fallon is an ER nurse, but not only that. She also spends quite a bit of her time in a free clinic helping those who cannot afford preventative care. In all honesty, we need more people like Fallon in real life- I think the difference they would make is tremendous. Therefore, just knowing this about the character really made me feel connected to her character.

Knowing that Fallon helps those in need makes it no surprise that her role in this novel is to help a sick hockey player over her free weekend. The two don't hit it off at first- he's as closed off as an individual can get- but he quickly begins to realize that she may just be his good luck charm. He's never played hockey better than after she took care of him! What unfolds next is true romance at it's finest! Two souls who couldn't be more opposite from another begin to do things that make the other happy and this, a deep connection begins to form. Reading about their connection was pretty amazing- readers can feel it through the pages. The author does a wonderful job at building it up for us to believe that it is real life. But alas, without some drama the book would just be a sweet love story, but there may be a small secret or two that could change everything... Want to know what it is and what happens? You'll have to read to find out!!!

If you are looking for a fun, flirty, and cute romance then I very much recommend Tomboy for you! Many readers praise this series up and down and I can see why. I'm excited to meet more of the Hartigans as I go back in the series and see how it all started.

Avery Flynn really straddles the line between fall out of your chair funny and heartfelt and emotional. She kicks her romantic comedies up another level by adding some realness to the story line. I can’t help but be drawn into this achingly slow burn between Fallon and Zach.

I really admire Fallon. She gives so much of herself over to her work and her community. I enjoyed seeing her just getting to be a woman, a beautiful woman that FEELS beautiful. Tomboy is one of those books that have incredibly different characters at the beginning. Zach is locked up like an penitentiary... nothing goes out, nothing comes in... until Fallon. Fallon gives all of herself to those she cares for. She’s willing to help anyone even the most hated man in town. They remind each other just what is needed in the others life right at a time they need it the most.

The story behind Zach’s closedoffness, is that even a word? Anyway way, he has his reasons for being who he is. Sometimes people get burned by those closest to them and it changes something in them. Miss Flynn shows us a prime example in Zach. This might be my favorite of this series so far. They all have a deeper meaning hidden among Flynn’s words. Tomboy was perfectly balanced in humor an in reality.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this wonderful, snarky, and funny book, Tomboy by Avery Flynn, the book three in her Hartigan series. This book had me on an emotional journey as we followed Fallon and Zach’s love story. This amazing story pulls out all the stops.

These two exemplified the importance of honesty, trust, and love overcoming all obstacles. I loved how strong Fallon was and how she knew she was not a girlie-girl as well as a very caring, compassionate, control freak. Zach learned from his parents not to trust others but that didn’t give them,as his managers, the right to rob him blind. When he discovered what they were doing, he paid them off, refused to ever see them again and worked hard to repay some of the money they borrowed in his name. He was broke, not able to afford anything extra and embarrassed at his naivety. He became angry, frustrated, and afraid to make friends with his teammates. No wonder he couldn’t find love or that special someone. After helping Zach recover from food poisoning, Fallon attends one of Zach’s hockey games. Zach’s playing turns around and Falllon becomes his “Lady Luck” with him needing her to continue to see him so the team would keep on winning. Fallon attempts to help Zach learn how families truly support one another and how to trust that others can be trusted to help and support, not try to crush him. This story was filled with sarcasm, laughs, snark, and even some sexy scenes that made me wish it never ended.

Ms. Flynn wrote a wonderful and hysterical story that was moving and filled with sexual chemistry, wonderful dialogue, and endearing characters that should definitely not be missed. I highly recommend Tomboy to other readers and I am anxious for the next book in this series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Tomboy is book three in The Hartigans series by Avery Flynn. While I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, I now have a favorite. I loved this book. If you are wondering, yes, you can read this as a stand alone. Each book in the series is based on one of the siblings in this crazy, loveable, Hartigan family. The characters do recur in each book, though. So you wouldn’t have the emotional connection to the other characters if you haven’t read the previous books!

Fallon Hartigan is an ER nurse but her heart is really at the clinic where she volunteers her time. Time off is a valuable thing and Fallon is not thrilled when her friend, Lucy, calls in a favor and wants her to spend her free weekend caring for a very sick defenseman for the Ice Knights Hockey Team.

Zach Blackburn is currently the most hated man in the Harbor City area. He just can’t seem to get his game back on track and because of him, the team is losing. Zach is known for his surly attitude and his way of keeping everyone at a distance. He is currently feeling like he’s about to die but the last thing he wants is some do-gooder nurse in his house. But he doesn’t seem to have a choice and she pushes herself right into his personal space and into his life.

After the weekend that Fallon cared for Zach, something amazing happened, he played the best he’s played in a long time. It had to be Fallon. She must be his Lady Luck. Now all he has to do is find a way to convince her to come to his games so he can keep playing well.

“There was something about Zach, hidden under all those layers of attitude and defensiveness, she recognized some place deep in herself.”

After working out a trade, Fallon attending games and Zach volunteering for the clinic, they begin to get to know each other. There is chemistry through the roof. Fallon also realizes that this tough guy really has a soft underside. Maybe if Fallon gives in to this thing between them just for one night, she can get him out of her system?

“They were on the edge of something here, and she wasn’t sure if she was ready.”

Zach has a secret he has kept hidden from everyone. Something that he is embarrassed about. He only told those that had to know. As he and Fallon grow closer, though, he begins to trust her. Can he share his secret with her or would she judge him, think less of him?

“Being with Zach just felt right, they felt right together.”

I loved this book. Zach was the best growly, moody hero that had a huge heart he kept hidden. I loved the way he was with Fallon as he slowly softened towards her. Fallon has a huge heart and wants to fix everyone. Her feelings for Zach are growing so fast but she can’t stand seeing him hurting.

These two were so amazing together. I am so in love with this family. This book really surprised me. I feel like it’s so different than the first two. I got all the butterflies and swoons I could handle with Zach. I am so excited about the announcement of a new series Avery is starting, Ice Nights. And the first book is going to be called Parental Guidance and will feature Caleb Stuckey, Zach’s friend and team mate. I can’t wait!

I really enjoyed this book and didn't feel like I missed any important information by not reading the previous book. Zach is the most hated man in town because they don't believe he is playing hockey to his full potential, or what he is being paid for. When he comes down sick, Fallon shows up to take care of him. He tries to push her away, because he doesn't trust anyone after what his parents did to him. Which he isn't telling anyone about because it makes him feel stupid.
Fallon is only doing a favor for her best friend, but starts to realize that under her rough demeanor is actually someone completely different. When things get hot and heavy between them, they each think they can stop any time without any concerns. Unfortunately, their hearts are involved and won't let them walk away without a fight.
When what his parents did to him comes out and he finds out that she is responsible, their happiness comes to a halt. Each character was strong in their own right. They were also right about certain things but jumped to conclusions way to fast. The chemistry was off the charts. Their relationship was organic and had you rooting for them to figure out a way to be together. I can't wait to read more in this series. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

Not every woman is a supermodel I love that Avery Flynn is celebrating the real woman in this series. The Harrigan's are such a fun family to get to know and I absolutely loved Fallon and Zach's book. This book made me laugh and it is such a pleasant relief to see characters who feel real and have struggles like everyone else. This book has amazing characters and even though i have a certain thing going through my head now that I may not want to have going through it, I won't be forgetting this book anytime soon ;)

Over the last several books by Ms Flynn, I have gotten to know (and love) the Hartigan family as we have watched two of the boys and one of the sisters fall in love. Fallon is a character that we’ve seen in each of the previous books and it was a pleasure to get to know her better here.
Zach is another character we’ve seen glimpses of before, but didn’t know well. It was fun seeing the gooey center behind his bad boy behavior.
Tomboy is a well written and sweet story. The message here is a bit lighter than the other Hartigan books, but is still impactful. Zach comes to the table with a bit more baggage than Fallon in this series installment. It was entertaining to see her, the Hartigan family, and his hockey teammates wear down his rough edges.
While this is part of a series, it can easily be read as a stand alone. There are references to characters and stories from other books, but nothing that keeps Fallon and Zach from being fully enjoyed. It was also fun to meet Zach’s hockey teammates who we will be seeing more of soon.

No good deed goes unpunished. Avery Flynn never disappoints. When it comes to fiesty heroines and hard to resist heroes, she never misses the mark. Humor takes center stage when it comes to melting your heart. Tomboy is a captivating, laugh out loud temptation. Fallon proves that she's no pushover. Zach is about to meet his match and his heart will not be prepared for the blow. Flynn always delivers a good time.

"Tomboy" is a cute addition in the Hartigans series (where all books can be read as stand-alones). Fallon has never been into dresses, dressing up, or wearing makeup. She does enjoy her job as a nurse and as a volunteer in a free clinic, which is struggling to stay afloat financially. When her friend Lucy begs her to help take care of one of her clients who seems to have the flu, Fallon is reluctant to agree. To add onto her reluctance, the client is the most hated man due to his getting a large contract and then failing to perform at a high level on the pro hockey team, the Ice Knights.

Zach is struggling after his parents ruined him financially and keep applying the emotional blackmail. He's starting to work to pay down the debts they accrued and keeping things simple. Although he is reluctant to accept Fallon's help, like Fallon, he doesn't want Lucy to cancel her trip, so he allows Fallon into his life. When he begins to recover, he and she are caught on camera by the paparazzi and rumored to be a couple. When he then plays well and turns the season around at the game that night, everyone dubs her 'Lady Luck' and insists she is a good luck charm.

Although Fallon wants the Ice Knights to win (she's already a big fan), she is not sure about this Lady Luck stuff. However, Zach is willing to strike a bargain where she appears for a game and he helps her with fundraising for the clinic where she volunteers. As they connect through these and when Zach was sick, they begin to get closer. Despite Fallon's insecurities as not being girly enough and Zach's own insecurities after what his parents have done, they begin to expand their relationship from business into friendship and maybe something more.

This was overall a really fun, light read. I loved the two as a couple and their growing romance. They were each very likable characters, and I enjoyed watching them fall for each other and work through their own insecurities. This was definitely a page-turner and fun to follow. I also really enjoyed the press articles that appear throughout and give it a nice extra touch. The epilogue was really fantastic also- I loved the ending to this book (it was just perfect). With laughs and love, this was a great addition to a fabulous series.

Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher through netgalley. All opinions are my own.
