Valentine is the cutest dog ever! Such a sweet, fun romance. Great read!
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
A Dog Called Valentine isn't a very deep story but it sure was fun, with a dog that is just about the best thing ever. He stole my heart before I was even a fifth of the way in! Shane also had a few heart-tugging moments and I definitely understand his hesitancy in getting too involved with anyone (whether they have 4 legs or 2) but Lily's enthusiasm and need to make sure that Valentine gets a happy home is pretty compelling.
I think there was a lot more opportunity to delve into some of the family dynamics and the romance between Lily and Shane. Readers will get a satisfying and enjoyable read but I think there is so much material there between Shane's issues and Lily's family drama. Occasionally the timeline got a little wonky too but I can easily forgive that.
With an adorable matchmaking dog (and grandma) and a sweet ending (predictable but cute), Snopek delivers a lovely little story that is perfect for a pretty day sitting in the shade ... or a cool day under a cozy blanket :)
(Overall a solid 3.5 Stars)

Lilly and Shane meet because of a foster rescued dog Valentine. Because both are oft set for a blind date from friends/family they agree to be a fake couple and in between helping eachother. Shane with dog training and Lily with redecorating Shanes grandmother house. In between they become to eachother so much more. They become support, and shoulder to cry one they learn to live with the past and to stand for themselves. Lovely book I just wish there would be a little more romance, we just see one kiss between them.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
A perfect romance this book was, very well written, it was seamless from the beginning to the end What an amazing book. This book had it all. I especially loved the dog part as I’m a big dog fan and suited the story to the T. Highly recommend
Lily works for her Mom but she also volunteers at the animal shelter. Her friend asks her if should would foster this dog named Valentine and get him ready to find his new forever home at their Valentine's Day fundraiser. She agrees but knows nothing about taking care of and training an animal. But she is willing to try.
Valentine keeps getting away from her and they run into this man named Shane. He agrees to help her train Valentine. As they are training Valentine together they both have issues that they need to work through.
Its a really good book that will keep your interest from start to finish
You want a happily-ever-after? A rambunctious cutie pie dog? A great meet cute? Then this is the perfect sweet read for a relaxing weekend.
I loved this well written romance. Good plot and writing. I highly recommend this book. I love when books include pets as A Dog Called Valentine did.
This is the perfect book to read this time of year. It is a quick read with a HEA. It will definitely leave you feeling all happy and snuggly. . I especially loved the dog, Valentine. Pets are such a sweet addition to any story.
This is the cutest book! A sweet couple of people who have both said good-bye to love connect through a rowdy, rambunctious, mistreated dog. Lily is fostering poor, misunderstood Valentine. He has been through too much misery in his life but retains a sparky spirit. Shane lost his partner dog in a shooting tragedy and is never going to devote himself to another dog. Until Lily and Valentine enter his life and challenge his thoughts on dogs and love, that is.
Cute

I look forward to reading more from this author.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Tule Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. What a fun, heartwarming story. This was fun to read. It has engaging characters and a lovable dog! Shane and Lily are a cute couple. First time reading this author. I will read more. 4 stars a welcome change for me not every page had sex !
A sweet story, and although it is not needed to read in February, why not? When Lily takes home a foster dog called Valentine, she has no idea how to take care of this huge, lovable but mistreated dog. Finding Shane, a recovering policeman, with a strong background of working with dogs, is a dream come true. Attraction of course, friendship of course, and a sweet dog that helps connect them. Really liked this one, and had trouble putting it down. The only issue, and it is minor, is that a few times it felt like I missed a conversation where they agreed on something. If this was an old album, I would say it had a couple of skips. For that, I would give it 4.5 stars. Highly recommend.
I loved this delightful story, mind you, that's not really a surprise as I have thoroughly enjoyed every book I've read by this author! Valentine is a mistreated dog that is struggling to find a forever home so one of the rescue centre volunteers, Lily, decides she'll do her best to help him become a more appealing, well behaved dog in the hope that someone will then choose to keep him. However, Valentine is a much stronger and stubborn dog than she'd anticipated and she has no prior experience of dog training so is really struggling. During their first walk he slips off his collar and runs off to where handsome Shane is helping restore his Grandmother's home. Shane is recovering from an incident in which he was shot and his canine partner was killed. He doesn't want another dog but he can't resist offering to help Lily and Valentine, never realising just what that will lead to!
This is a contemporary fake to real romance with great characters - human and canine! There's plenty of drama as Shane and Lily work together to thwart their match making Gran and Mother. It is a story of relationships and misunderstandings, grief and moving on. I found it an enthralling read and have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending this - and any other books I've read by this talented author.
I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.
#ADogCalledValentine #NetGalley I'm always a sucker for a story with animals in them and this one was no exception! Delightfully written, and a real emotional roller coaster, I laughed and I cried throughout the whole book! A love story that was pretty obvious right from the start but that didn't matter one bit. I too, would have been bowled over with Valentine and Shane! Loved it.
This book was sheer fun I loved everything about it Valentine is a foster dog who Lily a worker at the animal shelter is trying to train so that he can find a new home He is everything that you can love in a dog and all the things you hate when they push your buttons and she isn't having much luck training hm .When they are at a local park they meet Shane a injured cop and for some reason Valentine decide that he will do what he says maybe he realises Shane needs something after losing his canine partner in the incident that injured him . Soon Shane is helping with Valentines training and they are running cover for one another as their friends try to matchmake them both . What they don't realise until it is to late is that they are both developing feelings for one another Will these three become a family you will have to read to see
Loved it! A sweet tale of how a couple is brought together by a dog named Valentine. Lilly is volunteering at the shelter when Valentine is dropped off. She decides to take him in as a foster until his forever home can be found. She never expected him to be as unruly as he turned out to be. Knowing he would never get adopted without some training she sets out to teach him as best as she can. Problem is Valentine only seems to listen to the stoic stranger they stumbled upon in the park. Turns out that stranger is a former K9 officer who has recently been injured as well as losing his partner. Shane has vowed to never become attached to anyone or anything again. Can he help Lilly train Valentine and not fall for them both?

I adore dogs or any kind of animal and this was such a heartwarming and positive story of a dog that brings two people together. Such a great read.
“A Dog Called Valentine”, by Roxanne Snopek, is a touching story about a broken hero and the strong heroine and the broken, clumsy dog that help him heal.
The dog, Valentine is a wonderful character, yes, he steals the show, with his amazing, undisciplined sweetness and silliness. It was so much fun reading these parts! And it’s sad to uncover all the damage beneath his erratic behavior, but also amazing to see that he’s still a good-natured and endearing animal, despite his precarious life conditions.
I loved our tortured hero, Shane, handsome and honorable, but wrapped in a cloak of sadness and grief because of his loss.
Lily is just the woman Valentine and Shane need: generous, kind, with insecurities and vulnerabilities that feel so real.
There’s some heavy but well-balanced emotional drama that made this a pleasure to read.
A DOG CALLED VALENTINE by Roxanne Snopek is a wonderful fun story! It left me with a smile on my face! I loved how Valentine brought Shane and Lily together. And how Valentine wouldn't let Shane go!
Snopek writes the most beautiful stories. Incredible characters, emotional plots mixed with words of wisdom and bursts of humor, she's always a one click for me. A Dog Called Valentine is a sweet tale of hope wrapped in love. Valentine is an adorable mess that turns out to be a great matchmaker. Lily, Shane and Valentine speak to the heart with a charming grace that is classically Roxanne Snopek.
