Loved, loved this heart warming romance of how a dog brings this couple together. Valentine, a foster dog will have you laughing out loud with his antics. Lily is over her head with Valentine, when she meets Shane at the park. Shane is dealing with his own past and grief of loosing his partner, but finally agrees to help Lily, since this is only temporary.
Loved this story, you will be laughing out loud throughout the book. It shows how much unconditional love a dog can give you. Shane and Lily are just so cute together. I highly recommend this book!!
A wonderful story in which love and loyalty win. A broken man who is trying to heel from not only a physical wound but also from the loss of his dog, a girl who is trying to recover from disastrous relationships and a goofy dog, in this case our main hero, who brings these two lost souls together. A story that flows easily, a pleasant reading with a happily ever after. I’m voluntarily leaving a review after receiving a courtesy copy of the book.
I’m going to be working through the story hangover left after this book for a long time to come. It’s not really an emotional roller-coaster, there aren’t the big changes of direction I expect from that, but it pack one heck of a punch. I kind of think I’m feeling what “punch drunk” really means. Lily and Shane are adorable together. Add Valentine into the mix and you’ve got a lot of chaos to deal with, but still completely adorable. I’d be hard pressed to pick a favorite character from this book. And yet Valentine stole the show for me every time I saw him. Anyone who’s ever loved a rambunctious rescue will see themselves in parts of this story and will fall in love with the big-hearted mutt and his people just like I did.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through NetGalley.
A Dog Called Valentine is such a fun “Marley” sort of dog read by Roxanne Snopek. I fell for Valentine when he was still at the animal shelter. I knew that Lily could help Valentine, even had an idea how Lily and Shane would meet but did know how much Valentine would help these two find what it is that they are looking for but in denial about the said looking for it.
An entertaining read with everyday characters that you could easily see as your friends, one dog who needs to be understand, one feisty grandmother and one pretentious mother. I like the normal progress of the relationship between Lily and Shane. It is not instant must have you love but where they build a friendship and respect for each other. This is the kind of love that last long after Valentine’s Day, though in this case everyday can be Valentine’s day. Love that dog.
A Dog Called Valentine by Roxanne Snopek. This is Lily and Shane’s story.
This was a sweet, heartwarming, and fun story where Lily and Shane and a dog, Valentine, find true happiness. Oh, let’s not forget Shane’s grandmother. You will laugh and cry. A fun and entertaining read.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Ms Snopek has crafted an enchanting story of loss and recovery. Impacted deeply with the loss of his canine partner, Shane appears rudderless until Lily and Valentine literally slam into his life. Offset with poignant and heartwarming moments, the lighthearted Valentine moments will steal your heart. This is a perfect book for animal lovers who love to see second...and sometimes third...chances championed.
This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
I loved this book, it was an entertaining and engaging read.
It's heartwarming, really funny and sometimes it moved me to tears.
I loved the human characters, the couple was great but the grandma was perfect, and I loved Valentine.
The pace, the timing are perfect, the style of writing very good.
It would be nice to read other books with this great cast of characters.
I look forward to reading other books by this author.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to Tule Publishing and Netgalley for this ARC
A Dog Called Valentine by Roxanne Snopek
Neither lily nor Shane are in the market for a relationship though their friends and relatives seem dedicated to finding them the perfect person to make their lives complete. Shane is dealing with the probably loss of being an active duty policeman after being injured on the job and losing his K-9 partner as he rehab’s his grandmother’s home and gets on with his life. Lily is enmeshed in her mother’s NGO even though she would much rather be doing interior design and her new focus is to give back by taking in a foster dog. Well, the foster dog is a handful and a half that has her chasing Valentine hither and yon and right into the arms of Shane who knows more about dogs and training them than anyone knew. The two come to an agreement to get Valentine trained in time for an event that will find him a new forever home and while they work together they will pretend to have a relationship to keep their families and friends off their backs.
This was a sweet feel-good story that had two worthy wonderful characters find their HEA. It was somewhat predictable but a fun way to spend the afternoon.
Thank you to NetGalley and Tule Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.
3-4 Stars
Shane tragically lost his K9 partner and is now unable to return to his career due to his injuries. He is taking time off to heal and rehab is grandmother's house so she can sell it. The shelter has a dog named Valentine that needs some work before he can find his forever family. Lily volunteers at the shelter and she decides to foster him to make a difference. If she can train him then Valentine can live his happily ever after. Valentine tears up her home and does not like to walk on a leash. When runaway Valentine brings Shane and Lily together they make a deal that she will help with the paint selections for the house and he will help train the dog. Shane can never let himself get attached to another dog. His heart is broken from the loss of his own dog. Lily can tell that Valentine and Shane belong together. When you throw in a mutual attraction between Shane and Lily and an adoring dog, what could possibly go wrong. Loved this story. I have two rescue dogs and this story pulled on my heart strings.
I truly enjoyed reading this book!
It is a touching & emotional story.
It really pulled all my heartstrings.
Lily, is done with dating. No fix ups
from friends. No more blinds dates,
set up by her mom. She decided to
be a foster dog mom.
Shane, is helping to fix up his Gram's
home. He is still recovering from a
horrific & heartbreaking tragedy.
But, everything changed the day Valentine, came into Lily & Shane's life.
A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!!
A sweet and heartfelt story.
Shane is a police officer who is preparing his grandmother’s house to sell while he is recovering from a career ending injury. His meddling grandmother is determined to get him dating again even if she has to submit his picture to the reality show, The Bachelorette.
Lily is an heiress who desperately wants to live life on her own terms. Her dream is to start an interior design company with her friends. But, her mother just wants her to dedicate her time to charity and settle down with one of the many so-called perfect men she knows. When Lily fosters a dog from the shelter she volunteers at, she has no idea how much her life will change. She didn’t expect to fall in love with the dog or Shane, who helps her train him.
I loved this book. I went through all the emotions while reading it, but mostly I laughed because of Valentine’s silly antics. Lily and Shane were the perfect couple. They were so good for each other, but they just didn’t see it at first. I enjoyed the fake dating part of the story and watching Valentine heal their broken hearts and lives. Shane’s grandmother was a fun part of the story too. I almost think she needs her own book.
It’s been ages since I laughed so much while reading. A Dog Called Valentine is pure fun — romantic comedy at its best. Foster dog Valentine is everything you could wish for in a dog packaged up with everything you could possibly wish your dog would never even contemplate doing. He’s also a consummate matchmaker, bringing together his foster mum Lilly and Shane, a wounded police officer who’s renovating his grandmother’s old house.
Both Shane and Lilly have had their share of matchmakers up till now and they’re both completely over being set up with whoever is deemed to be “the one”. Agreeing to pretend to be dating seems like a good idea and in the meantime Shane is more than happy to teach Valentine some manners while Lilly helps him with the house.
This story was an absolute delight to read. I loved Shane and Lilly and I adored Shane’s Gram with her passion for The Bachelorette and her conviction that Shane would be just perfect on the show. I romped through the story with a huge smile on my face.
Loved this book!!! Lily is a passionate animal volunteer and takes in a dog that has been bounced between a number of homes and always returned. She immediately realizes that she got more than she bargained for and that the dog is in charge. While trying to walk him, her new neighbor rescues her and assists with the dog. This begins an unusual relationship with lots of secrets.
The author is a master at her craft and had me turning pages just as quickly as possible. I fell in love with the characters and found their story both funny and poignant. Shane's history in particular sad and heroic, making him a brooding hero.
This novel is a must read for fans of the genre. Put this one at the top of your TBR list. The author is on my must read authors' list.
Lily Garner volunteers part-time at the local animal shelter. She takes on a dog called Valentine when her friend who runs the shelter asks her to foster Valentine, a rejected Valentine's gift. She warns Lily that Valentine has had a couple homes and been returned each time. Valentine, it seems, needs lots of training and lots of love before finding his forever home. Lily is determined to train Valentine but is quickly overwhelmed by his actions. He runs away from her when she takes him on a walk to the local park and that's where she first meets our hero, Shane Bowman. Shane was injured and his K-9 partner, Titan was killed during a robbery. Valentine runs up to Shane and listens to his directions. Shane agrees to give Lily some help with training the dog. This begins the story of Lily, Shane and Valentine.
A Dog Called Valentine by Roxanne Snopek is a sweet, yet emotional romance. Shane is in the midst of trying to get his life back together after being injured, losing his beloved K-9 partner and the end of his engagement. Lily is dealing with a difficult relationship with her mother and feeling insecure. Valentine has been abused and needs to find trust and love. As the two humans and the dog progress in their relationship the story builds to an emotional crescendo when everything all comes together just right. I really enjoyed the characters and the storyline.

If you are a dog lover, this book is for you. It centers around how Lily wanted to work with a rescue dogs. She gets Valentine, and he is a handful. Valentine brings her in the path of Shane. Shane misses his dig, his job and his ex. It is like the dog is actually playing Valentine with the couple!
The dog was the best part of this book. Valentine has so much personality and your heart breaks when they are bathing him and using the clippers on his fur and see the past hurts he endured. Brought a tear to my eye with how much hurt Valentine went through. Then all the training and learned behaviors Valentine caught was great, from the agility course to learning to walk on a leash, so sweet! The end when the dog was at the party it was like he knew it was an adoption event and he was going to go home with someone else, so he decided to act out and then it make Shane realize how the dog felt and what he could do about it. The heartbreak that Shane went through loosing Titan and being injured on the job, so sad. This book has great characters but Valentine stoke the show!
I don't like dogs, but I loved this book! The story of Lily and Shane, bought together by a dog called Valentine.
Shane is hiding away from the world after an accident ended his career, and Lily is doing her best to keep her family happy even if it means she is putting them before her. Can Valentine help them both move on and stay together?
This is a wonderful book about a rescue dog named “Valentine” and two people looking for a mock romance to settle their matchmaking tendencies of mother and grandma respectively.
Lily and Shane meet by way of “Valentine” and the healing of three hearts begins.
Has Valentine found his forever home and two favourite people? Read on and find out!
I had never read any books by this author and had no idea what to expect. Little did I know I was going to find a rare pearl in a vast ocean of authors.
While others will give you the plot, I will go a different way.
The story of Lilly, Shane and the dog named Valentine was touching, and at times heartbreaking , but also heartwarming.
With Lilly’s , we are reminded that the experiences we have as children and how parents behalf towards us, does in fact affect us as adults. Insecurities and feelings of not being good enough can be a heavy load to carry.
Shane, is recovering physically and mentally after an incident that changed his life foreve , and one in which he suffered a great loss. Since then, he has closed himself off from others, love and trusting someone else.
Valentine, now in an animal shelter, is a dog that has suffered a great deal as well.
When Lilly decides to foster the rambunctious dog, little did she know that the lives of these three would be clanged forever.
A lovely story of about losses, hope , new beginnings , trust, letting go and love. One you will surely fall in love with.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Tule Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
I loved this book, the story of how Lily wanted to work with a rescue dog so it would be ready for it’s forever family. The dog called Valentine slipped its collar the very first time they went for a walk and got away from Lily, this is how Lily came to meet Shane when he came to her rescue.
Yes Valentine’s doggy mishaps brought me a few chuckles, but oh the other emotions this writers words brought out, her words tugged at my heartstrings and I have heard these stings are apparently connected to the tear ducts and it must be true cause tug tug, tear drops tear drops and my warm fuzzy feelings were just overflowing.
