I found this to be a lovely, fun read showing the importance of friendship and teamwork for us all. It’s aimed at children of approximately ages 3-6. The illustrations are so charming and has gorgeous animals with lots of energy.

Its a lovely, cute story, to show that winning isn't everything in this wonderful picture book about friendship and teamwork.

I would like to thank the Author/the Publishers/NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review

I read a copy of this picture book from Capstone via NetGalley. A fun, quick read about the importance of friendship and teamwork that is good for ages 3-6. The illustrations are dazzling and immersive with adorable animals that zoom across the pages with lots of energy. While there is nothing new or miraculous in the storyline, this is just an easy way for little ones to understand the importance of not being selfish. Cuteness level is high.

This is a darling picture book with beautiful illustrations that teaches the power of friendship. Squirrel is all set to win the Golden Acorn race again this year, but a new rule requires her to have a team. Her friends volunteer to help her but they struggle with the physical challenge. Squirrel learns that her friends bring her more happiness that any trophy could. I teach older students so I wouldn't pick this for my classroom, but I would recommend this to younger readers and teachers of younger readers.

Thank you to Capstone and Netgalley for making this book available to read so I could provide an honest review.

As soon as I saw Katy Hudson had released a new book I jumped at the chance to read it. My daughter and I love "The Long Winter's Nap" and I couldn't wait to show her this new adventure!

Squirrel is consistently the champion of the Golden Acorn contest and has the trophies to prove it. This year there is a twist! Squirrel must be part of a team in order to win. What ensues is a delightful story about the dismay Squirrel feels at being slowed down by her team, the many mishaps the team encounter during the race and the eventual realization of how much more important friendship and teamwork is over winning by yourself.

Ms. Hudson's illustrations shine bright and add that extra component to make this book an easy recommendation for any kid! My parents could have probably read this to me as a child because I was obsessed with winning and they could have used the lessons to teach me that winning isn't always everything!

Please note this is not yet published on Goodreads because the title is not in their system. Once it is, I will go back and post this review!
