Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author, for an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review.
The synopsis of this book sounded intriguing to me so I requested a copy to read.
Unfortunately, I have tried reading this book on 2 separate occasions and during this 2nd attempt, I have
decided to stop reading this book
and state that this book just wasn't for me.

This book started out with Big Little Lies vibes. A group of adult neighbors share a vacation home for the week. As they start to unwind with drinks, secrets start to come out and tensions rise to the surface. The next morning, one of them is found dead on the beach. Detective Gabby Watkins then has to unravel all the secrets and find the true murderer before any further damage is done.

The premise of this book sounded excellent, but I found it super slow. The characters were super hard to keep straight. There was a secondary plot that felt really unnecessary and disjointed. The ending didn't justify the means for me. The book felt super slow but super sped up all at the same time. The ending felt rushed and was unsatisfying. Overall, it's a decent thriller but it's not much to write home about for me.

Alcohol and a neighbors beach get away. Lots of tension, secrets and someone ends up being murdered. Who has enough to lose that they are willing to kill for it? Who harbors the biggest secret and which neighbor can you trust?

I love a good mystery thriller set in a beach town. This one did not disappoint. The secrets kept coming and continued to have me guessing. Definitely enjoyed this one for a great who dunnit.

I did not read this book and I know longer have any interest in reading it. This was during the beginning of my NetGalley “everything looks great so I am going to request it without looking into the book. I have definitely become more selective in choosing what books I want to request and read.

I liked the cop. There were a lot of other characters and, yep...just the cop. The thing is that I can still generally enjoy a book with problematic characters - that makes drama, right? - but these people were all so very loathsome.

I kept reading to see who killed a certain person. It was exactly who I thought it was. So there's that.

The only thing I liked about the book is that the author put diverse characters into a standard domestic thriller. We need more of that. Maybe just not this one.

This one is a skip for me.

Three couples set off for a week long beach vacation in a house that Susan and her husband have sublet. They are all neighbors, and she invites the other two couples as they are new to the neighborhood and are trying to get to know them a little better. Nothing can go wrong, right? Wrong. One of them ends up dead and the town detective is left to figure out what happened.

This was enjoyable, and it could have been timing as I have read some excellent thrillers lately, and this just didn't compare to those, so that is the reason for the solid 3 stars. I will say that this had me guessing, and I always like that about a thriller. I also enjoyed the drama between everyone but I didn't really care about any of them, they were all jerks in some way, so I wasn't vested, and it was more of an 'eh ok' by the time it was over.

Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the egalley to review!

Susan goes on a much needed trip with her friends. She is excited for this relaxing get away and to release some tension... well just the opposite happens. One of her friends is found dead while on the vacation. Gabby Watkins is tasked with trying to find out what happened between these friends. This is a fantastic psychological thriller that makes you question who you can trust and who has the worst secrets locked away.

I was plesantly surprised by this book, and I really enjoyed it!
If you're looking for your next thriller book, one that will keep you on your toes right up until the very last page. It's quite hard to review this book without giving away too many spoilers, but Cate Holahan has now made her way onto my list of top authors to watch and I'll be picking up her next novel that's for sure!

Typical mystery thriller. This book felt very similar to other mystery thriller books I've read. Very meh.

Everyone has secrets, even secrets that can kill! What happens when three couples rent a very pricey house on the beach? Throw in some wine and secrets and you have this edge-of-your- seat book! So much fun I couldn't put it down! And once the secrets started spilling!

Loved how this book had an air of toxic friendships, secrets and lies. Alcohol played a big part in this book and alcohol doesnt go well with loose lips !!. Nobody was who they seemed to be!! I cant wait to read more of Cates books.

Three couples end up together at a beach house in the Hamptons, in a fantastic character-driven psychological thriller.

The story covers the day before, of, and after a body ends up on the beach after each of the characters reveals a little too much about themselves to the others - all with a potential reason to commit murder. This whodunnit mystery kept my attention until the very end, and I truly enjoyed trying to guess who I thought it would be.

I gave this title 4.5 stars, thank you to Netgalley & Crooked Lane Books for allowing me to read this title in exchange for my personal review.

One Little Secret by Cate Holahan isthe perfect summer read. For me, it was fast paced and full of secrets to keep you pointing the figure in a bunch of different directions. I loved the style of writing. The book takes place almost
completely in two days. The chapters go back and forth to the day before the murder and the day of. I felt that the writing style helped add to the fast pace and I found I could not put the book down. I mentioned earlier that I had a theory about the murderer and it turns out I was
right this time, lately I've been off my guessing game lately but Holahan plays the clues out there for you if you are paying attention. It was a great read and I reccomend it!

All neighborhoods have their secrets, but when 3 neighboring couples rent a converted Hamptons barn, all is not what it appears to be on the surface and the vacation had deadly consequences for one.

This plot line was not the most original but it was quick paced with layer upon layer of revealed secrets, creating a good amount of tension and excitement. At times I got the characters confused, but I do have the issue a lot when there are a lot of characters in a book. An overall good read.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Crooked Lane Books and Cate Holahan for my complimentary e-copy ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
