Fantastic as always. Harlan Coben never disappoints. Fast paced and twists on every page. Couldn’t put it down. Amazing xx

Harlan Coben is back with another thriller, Run Away, that provides page after page of gripping action. The pace never falters and just when you think you’ve got a handle on the plot, another twist has your thoughts spinning. The layers of the plot are intriguing, and the level of detail and unpredictable surprises is impressive.

Simon Greene sits in Strawberry Fields in Central Park, watching this bedraggled homeless girl, badly playing the guitar and singing for money as she butchers a version of the Beatles song, Penny Lane. Simon is a high-end financial advisor and his wife, Ingrid, is a paediatrician, both wealthy, happily married and supportive of their 3 children, yet here he watches his run-away daughter Paige. Her hair is matted and her cheekbones sunken, she is raggedy, dirty, a drug addict and appears lost in hopelessness. Simon has searched a long time to find her and his heart breaks as he watches his beautiful daughter in such a decrepit and pitiful state. He is as desperate as a parent can be, to do whatever it takes to bring his daughter back to the family.

When Simon approaches her, he is intercepted by her drug dealer boyfriend, Aaron. After an altercation between Simon and Aaron, Paige takes off running and goes back into hiding. Several days later Aaron is found <spoiler>savagely murdered</spoiler>, and of course who is the main suspect? Simon needs a high priced and capable lawyer to help his case and the interplay between lawyer and law enforcement is absorbing and revealing.

In multiple threads, several targeted murders are taking place by a professional killer, Simon and Ingrid are trying to find their daughter, a private investigator, Elena Ramirez, is trying to find a missing person and a Detective Fagbenle is investigating a murder. These engrossing thread passes and collides with another, often leaving shocking and scary aftermath. How precarious can this thriller turn for all involved?

The family challenges are wonderfully portrayed and what will happen the normal happy family when placed under such pressure? Family secrets are exposed in the effort to discover what happened to their daughter. In a fast-paced world that is exposed to drugs, social media influence, peer pressure and the company a person can fall into as they start to live their independent lives. It is cause for concern and our only hope as parents is that the upbringing we’ve given them will fortify them for the world they’re about to enter on their own. Only time will tell if the approach worked and a good smattering of luck can help. When the luck runs out Harlan Coben writes about it.

Run Away is an entertaining story delivered by a true master. A book that provides many additional perspectives to explore on top of a high momentum thriller. I highly recommend this book and I'd like to thank Random House UK, Cornerstone, Arrow and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC version in return for an honest review.

Wow-what a master of his trade. Harlan Coben a fabulous writer, and Run Away lives up to his reputation. Dark, twisted, intriguing everything you expect from a crime thriller. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

Simon Green is successful and working in finance, his wife is a doctor. So a comfortable life, with three daughters.

His eldest daughter went off to college, but then her life gets out of control and she runs away…..one day Simon sees her...can he reach her?

This is about Simon’s search to find his daughter, the dubious characters he meets and the downright dangerous situations he finds himself in….. it deals with a parents love, loss and addictions…..just how far would you go to save your daughter?

Thrilling and thought provoking…..

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this for free. This is my honest and unbiased review

Quite simply... not one of his best novels. I have to say I was slightly disappointed with this book but I think it’s because I’ve come to expect a certain level of perfection from Harlan Coben and this just didn’t quite reach that level for me. It’s not a bad read though and was enjoyable, it just lacked that little something extra.. Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

⭐️⭐️ 2 disappointing stars

I’ve only read a few books by this author and they were ‘ok’ but this one came so highly recommended that I thought I’d give it a try.

But it was not for me. The characters were annoying and unlikable, the plot dragged and to be honest I gave up caring about where Paige was.

The police were so cliche and there were a few storylines that were not necessary.

Only good thing about it was Cornelius!

The synopsis sounds really simple a father trying to rescue his daughter who is an addict. It was a breathtaking rollercoaster and you didn’t know when the loop the loops were coming. I almost forgot to breathe. Fabulous!

Harlan Coben can be relied upon to write good thrillers. This was ok, not his very best, but enjoyable.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an advance ARC copy of this book.

As the novel opens we meet Simon Greene who is sitting in the area in Central Park called Strawberry Fields watching the pan handlers singing to the tourists. Only one of these wretched drug addled musicians is his 18 year old daughter Paige. Hooked on drugs and living from one fix to the next, dropped out of college and stealing from the family , Oliver and his wife Ingrid take the hard decision and tell Paige to go. Now, after months of looking, Oliver has a sighting, he’s booked rehab and he’s ready to confront her and rescue her from living with her drug addicted boyfriend Aron Corval. But as Oliver approaches Paige and she begins to run, Aron appears and from this moment on life for Oliver begins to spin out of control.

Harlan Coben is a prolific writer and his psychological thrillers are always exciting, fast paced reads that keep you on tender hooks right to the final page and Run Away is yet another fabulous example. The story unfolds piece by piece and just when you think you know everything, you turn the page to discover something completely different.

Having read a few titles from this author which I thoroughly enjoyed, I had high hopes for this book and I am please to say it did not disappoint. I read on a very long train journey and nearly missed my stop because the story was so gripping from the start. I know that some people do not consider this to be the author's best work, but for me it definitely is.

Read this in one day. Typically for a Harlan Coben book, I could not put it down. Simon's daughter Paige has run away from her family, and he would do anything to get her back. But what exactly does "anything" mean? How far will a father go to protect the family he loves?
Full of Coben's trademark twists and turns, this book has a plot that will draw you in and characters who will enter your heart.

This is the first Harlan Coben book I have read and thoroughly enjoyed it. Its the story of a father, Simon who is searching for his daughter Paige when she goes missing after getting involved with drugs. He finds her in Central Park but she runs again and the search leads him to the Bronx and the drugs den where her mother, Ingrid ends up getting shot. The story continues as Simon gets dragged into a police investigation into multiple murders and you start to question just who is the guilty party and what binds them all together.

The twists in the story do keep you guessing but was a little disappointed that the ending seemed a but rushed compared to the rest of the book, but that said a great read and will be looking out for more books from this author

Runaway teenagers, drugs, a father trying to save his daughter, unexpected twists and a good dose of action are the ingredients of Coben's dark thriller. For the aficionados of the genre, it certainly won't disappoint.

After many years, this has actually been the first Harlan Coben novel I’ve read, although I have come across TV adaptations of his work. And I certainly wasn’t disappointed. I found the story to be a brilliant read, even with multiple twists and turns and unexpected actions.

The novel begins with a father who’s teenage daughter has gone missing, after taking up with a drug addict boyfriend. By chance, he comes across his daughter playing guitar in Central Park, a shell of the girl he knew before. But she doesn’t want to come home.

You then embark on a rollercoaster adventure to find her, and find out why she ran away. I say rollercoaster because that what it feels like as the reader; one minute you’re taking a sedate walk in Central Park and then wham bam you’re in a shoot out in a drug den! The action doesn’t stop there and the pace continues throughout the rest of the book. It was really one of those books where you’re upset when you have to stop reading!

This robust book by Harlen Coben is superb. An outwardly perfect family who genuinely adore each other but there is a deep well of secrets hidden in one of the family members, just waiting to drown them all.
