The plot seems cute and fun and I am looking forward to reading the full book. I haven't read any of Rowell's stuff before but I am a huge fan of Faith Erin Hicks work and art.
Very excited about this book based on the small excerpt I read! Seems like Rainbow Rowell will keep up the hype with her fans in her newest book.
I loved this sampler so much. The story and the artwork combine to make an incredibly enjoyable graphic novel. Faith Erin Hicks and Rainbow Rowell are a dream team. I can't wait to read more.
I read a sample, so my review is based on the first 18 pages. The story seems engaging and now I want to read the entire story, so that says something. Two work friends who hang out while working at a pumpkin patch each fall know that their time together is ending due to them graduating and heading off to college. The crisis arises from the guy having a crush on one of the girls who works there as well and not having the nerve to ever talk to her yet.
The plot sounds adorable, and the art is great. I look forward to being able to read the whole thing once it comes out!
This was not the full galley, it was a teaser chapter. This teaser chapter did not include art so it was basically floating dialogue. Despite this, I am greatly looking forward to reading this title and from what I've heard about it it should be amazing.
With just a teaser to review, this is a graphic novel I have been anticipating for years and I am fully intrigued 18 pages in ready for more. Completely different than anything Rainbow Rowell has written before but yet with her style for characters that are vulnerable and exquisitely real. First love, vibrant friendships and life transitions are the opening impressions of this book set in a pumpkin patch!
I didn't realize this was only an excerpt when I requested it. I was very disappaointed I didn't get to read the whole story because it was so good! Rowell just keeps proving over and over what an amazing writer she is.
With super cute art and a super cute friendship, Pumpkinheads is a great start to what is sure to be a loveable tangle of drama and romance. My only complaint - why did it have to end theeeeeere!!
I'm a huge fan of pretty much anything Rainbow Rowell does, so of course I found this charming. The illustrations were very lovely and matched the tone of the writing.
This was just a chapter sampler, so I can’t give a review for the entire book yet. However, I can say that the two chapters I read promise a fun, heartwarming story. The characters already seem quirky and lovable and I think the artwork goes with the tone of the story perfectly.
The ARC I received was just a 18 page sampler, so I'm not going to review about it on GoodReads yet. The bit that was provided was quite fun and makes me really want to read the whole book. Deja and Josiah seem like great friends. Deja's voice is fantastic and so engaging. The mission to get Josiah to talk to the girl who works at the Fudge shop at the pumpkin farm they work at after years of him mooning over her is tantalizing, and from the sample, looks like Deja has her work cut out for her. I also like the setting. I feel like every kid in America visits a pumpkin patch yearly so it is a very common experience, but this takes that common experience and flips it on its head...what if you worked in one? What would that be like? Definitely finding a copy of this when it comes out.
Though we only got a small sampler through NetGalley I really love the artwork and story so far and am excited to read the full book when it comes out.
A sweet story of friendship, love, and the endings of things. A great read for fall, and one that I'll definitely recommend.
Adore the sampler. Can't wait to read the whole piece. Looks very sweet. Colorful and comfy art style.
Although it was difficult to get a strong sense of the characters, plot, or themes from the few pages included on NetGalley, Faith Erin Hicks' artwork is beautiful and I wholeheartedly trust Rainbow Rowell to tell an excellent story, so I look forward to reading this graphic novel in full!
Man this is going to be so flipping cute I can't wait for it. I wish there had been more, because it's really hard to judge based on one chapter, but the art is adorable and so brightly colored, I can't wait to see the rest of it.
This was a super cute sampler of this graphic novel and i am really excited to read the full thing when it is released. I really want to see what happens next.
It's difficult to base this review on one chapter. The art is beautiful, I love the autumn colors - orange, yellow, reds,... The story is cute, I love the kindergarten-ish map of the festival grounds. I like the idea of the story, but wondering if there is a twist coming? I love the diversity of the characters so far. It seems like a fun addition to our teen collection.
Rainbow Rowell is the best, and I've ready absolutely everything she's written. I've been eagerly awaiting this graphic novel from her. Thank you Rainbow! I can't think of a better fall-ish graphic novel!
