This was a delightfully adorable graphic novel and the art style perfectly fits with the feel of the story.
It is only an 18 page preview, so I can't really rate something so brief. However, it has great artwork, diverse characters (primary and secondary it appears), and a fun premise. This looks to be a perfect fall read and I'm excited to read the rest when it is available!
Rainbow Rowell can do no wrong, and I can't wait to add this to our library's catalogue! Deja and Josiah seem like interesting characters, and the art is so cute I can't deal with it.
I wish that it had been clear that this was just a sample. I would not have requested it if I had known.
Tbh I can’t give a real review of this. On both netgalley and edelweiss you’re only able to preview 18 pages and that isn’t enough for a review. It is, a best, a taste. What I saw has a super cute art style and so far an entertaining story. We’ll see if they ever publish a real arc...
I wasn't sure if I would much like a graphic novel for this age group, but I'm hooked! I'll definitely be finding this book once it's published!
I really liked this preview of Pumpkinheads and I'm looking forward to the full story. The art work is well done and bright. The story is engaging, and I can't wait to learn more about the friendship between the two main characters.
From the few short pages that I read of this, I fell in love. I simply cannot wait to read the rest of the book! I really like the story so far and I'm very excited to see what happens to Deja and Josiah. I also really, really enjoyed the coloring and the art style, they were both gorgeous.
I wish this sampler was longer. The story looks really cute and I am definitely going to read the rest of this book. There is not much to go on based on only 18 pages, but from what I was able to read, the characters seem really cute and interesting. I love the artwork and the coloring. It feels very fall-like and perfect for a September/October read. I can't wait to get my hands on the rest of it once it's published! I'm a huge fan of Rowell's and this book looks to be another hit for her.
I'm already pulled fully into the story in just a few short chapters - I definitely want to find out what happens to Josiah and Deja!
I love both Rainbow Rowell and Faith Erin Hicks's work and can't wait to see the completed work!
"Friends don't let friends live small lives." I love this quote! Josiah and Deja have fantastic chemistry. The art is beautiful, the voice strong, and I hope there's a bit of romance later on. I'm very much looking forward to the release date to discover all the fun they have during their last high school hurrah at the pumpkin patch.
I must have requested this so fast I didn’t realize it was a sampler. Bummer.
There is very little to go off from this short preview as not much of the story is established. I’m hoping it has a little romance to it and there is a hint of that in the opening pages. Other than that, I’ll be reading Pumpkinheads because Rainbow Rowell consistently delivers heartwarming yet quirky stories, and combining her style with the autumn feel of the art and setting is sure to offer a worthwhile fall tale.
This was a short 18-page preview of the graphic novel. I enjoyed the illustrations and from the start, I wanted to be there with the characters. It was nice to have a more diverse group of characters (not just with main character, Deja but with the secondary characters that were portrayed in the illustrations (example page 6 ).
Although it was only a small preview, it was an enjoyable one! I am looking forward to reading the rest of this graphic novel once it is out.
The concept seems cute but in such a short issue I can't really judge. However nothing makes me want to continue reading. For those who would enjoy a rom-com comic it might work but it didn't for me.
This was a short and sweet story between two friends who work at a pumpkin patch. I liked the material I was able to read however it was very short and the main plot seemed to be a set up for what is to come.
As in the past, this Rainbow Rowell is sure be popular with YA. The graphics are great and the dialog is sure to capture their attention (the title certainly does!).
I'm a huge Rainbow Rowell fan so it was a treat to see this sneak peek of Pumpkinheads! The preview was perfectly sweet with great artwork by Faith Erin Hicks and an introduction to a few main characters. I can't wait to read the full graphic novel when it's released!
I didn't get the full book, but just the first 18 pages. I didn't realize this was just a preview. What I saw looks amazing and honestly, anything Rainbow does will jump right on my to read list and most likely get four stars or more. For now, I just can't give it a real rating. I have it added to my good reads to remind myself to pick this up in August.
This Pumpkinhead sampler intrigues me. I want to continue reading. The art style is vibrant and cute. I will preorder a copy. Thanks First Second Books and NetGalley for the Chapter sample of the title.
