Claire remembers her time with the Dragon kings. She remembers her time as a captive vividly. If anyone, even her best friend, finds out she has those memories they will be taken from her.

V knows he shouldn't bother Claire but he is drawn to her. Time to stop fighting and embrace their chemistry.

Perfect beginning to this dragon shifter series.

I am usually not a big fantasy fiction reader, but this series by Donna Grant has kept me intrigued every time I read a book in the series. Great fun and keeps the reader involved in the story.

This is the first book I have read from Donna Grant, it definitely is a series you MUST start from the beginning. I had no clue that it was a series. But it didn't hamper my reading experience. It WILL give away spoilers from the previous books. It was kind of like putting together puzzle pieces. But it was definitely entertaining to say the least, because this isn't my usual read. I have read paranormal in the past but never anything about dragons. As always NO SPOILERS!

Ignite is the tale of Vlad and Claire. It does work well as a standalone, but you do need the rest of the books to full understand IMO.

This one does a good job of telling secrets from the previous books much to my surprise that it seemed to go on endlessly. It made Claire's and Vlad's story-line take a backseat. Which felt a little rushed in parts for me. Vlad is a dragon king. He's been unstable in his kingdom for years due to his sword being stolen, he can only locate his fellow dragons that were hidden away in safety with the sword. Due to inability to his sword he was put to sleep by Con, the King of all Dragon Kings, because Vlad was unleashing his rage on humans. Now he is awake in this era and doesn't know how to adjust properly, becomes morose and depressed and decides that he will return to sleep. This is when his fellow dragons find that Claire is this perfect candidate to keep him occupied. Claire is a daytime nurse via nighttime secret dating blogger. She seems to have fallen in the pits of the dating world and has almost named herself a cat lady. Until the meddling of some Dragon Kings come knocking on her door.

During this time there is war brewing. There was a lot of buildup for this battle with their enemy. But that part of the story-line ends and you're left with a cliffhanger. I am certain the next book will give us answers.

All in all its solid read, written very well, I gave it 3 stars.

I want to to thank NetGalley and the publisher St. Martins Press for this ARCa in exchange for an honest review.

Well , Donna Grant does it again!! I have been a huge fan of her books for a few years now and well I have read pretty much everything she wrote.

Ignite is book 15 in the Dark King series and yes you really should read all the previous books and I promise you you will not be disappointed.

This book is so well written and it got me hooked from the very first page that I just couldn't (and didn't want to) stop reading.

I am giving this 5 out of 5 stars.

Donna Grant NEVER disappoints with her Dragon Kings! I loved this story so much. My heart broke a little for V. He seemed so lost because of his lost connection with his sword. Claire and V are perfect for each other. I loved that they were so open with each other. I love that she and Sophia were best friends and the friendship she had with them. They saved her life so she kept their secret (even though they believed she had no memory of what happened.) The cover is so hot! I can get lost (in a good way) in the story of these Dragon Kings.

V and Claire had so much hot chemistry. Anyone want to swim in a loch!!! I can't wait to read more

IGNITE is the fifteenth full-length instalment in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult DARK KINGS paranormal, fantasy romance series focusing on the Dragon Kings and the women they love. This is copper dragon V aka Vlad, and registered nurse Claire. IGNITE should not be read as a stand alone as the current story lines continue to follow an ongoing series arc.

SOME BACKGROUND: The DARK KINGS is a spinoff from Donna Grant’s DARK WARRIOR series which in turn is a spin off from Donna’s DARK SWORD series- all set in the Highlands of Scotland. The Dark Fae and their King Taraeth, along with the Silver Dragon Mikkel have declared war on the Dragon Kings by exposing the dragon’s existence to humankind. The last wars between man and the world of the paranormal saw a great loss of life on all sides but someone or something is determined to push the Dragons back into another war: Queen Usaeil of the Light Fae has set her sights on claiming King Constantine as her mate, and the Dark Fae want the Dragon’s hidden weapon in order to rule Scotland and the rest of the world. With the recent introduction of the Fae executioners known as the Reapers, the number of interconnected series continues to expand.

Told from several third person perspectives including V and Claire, following numerous intersecting paths IGNITE focuses on the prelude to war. Vlad aka V, the copper dragon struggles with his purpose in the new world. For years, Vlad remained within his mountain, in a deep slumber, to protect those he wanted to destroy. With his magical sword missing, and his memories shattered, V kept to himself until the time came, to once again, search for the sword. Meeting Claire, stirred something deep within our story line hero, something he struggled to accept or need. Falling in love and finding his mate while the Dragon Kings were on the verge of war, found V considering the future, including the future with our story line heroine. With the return of his sword, and the power within, V once again, battles with what he wants, and what he needs to do.

Meanwhile, Queen Usaeil is determined to make Con her mate, to rule everyone and everything with the King of Kings by her side but in order to claim the supernatural throne Usaeil must first destroy those who stand in her way. As the Dragon Kings prepare to go to war, they discover that friends and adversaries must merge together in order to take down the evil that approaches. Friends become enemies, enemies become allies in an effort to reinforce for the battles ahead.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including many of the previous story line couples, a few Reapers and their leader Death, as well as another look at the group known as the Others. A surprise awaits Claire and V, an unexpected and unnatural piece of news that adds strife to an already tumultuous situation.

Claire is not a strong heroine, in fact, she longs for someone to love and love her back. Searching for ‘The One’ becomes tantamount for Claire, so much so that her search consumes her days and nights. Afraid of forever being alone Claire searches for her happily ever after. IGNITE reveals the ‘blogger’ behind the (Mis)adventures of a Dating Failure, a revelation that was a little disappointing and a bit of a let down- I was hoping for something more prophetic or extraordinary. The premise is revealing and engaging; the romance is fated and passionate; the characters are dynamic and animated. IGNITE begins to prepare the readers for the end of the series-an end that will reunite several series and characters we have grown to love throughout the years.

Ignite, book 15 in the Dark Kings series features the Dragon King Vlad or V as he is known as. In the previous book, he finally retrieved his sword. He has a secret about his sword and that secret is making him feel like he should just retire back to his mountain.

V has had an interest in Sophie's best friend Claire. He feels a pull, but is determined not to bring her into this world. With the Others out there and the upcoming war with the Light's queen, V does not feel like it is the place for a mortal. Back to him feeling like going back to sleep would be best.

Claire is having a hard time in the dating world. She just gets blown off by another guy when V catches her eye. She knows she can't fall for him for fear of having her memory wiped, but she can't stay away.

I couldn't help but feel like this is the story before the end. I haven't confirmed anything but that is the feeling I got from the story. The romance was great, and I loved V and Claire coming together. Their romance was swift but Claire didn't feel they were truly a couple for quite awhile. She didn't know where she stood besides a bed partner.

While the romance was hot, the action was definitely lacking. Most of the story was spent planning the attack on the Queen of the Light with Rhi. I feel like we are getting close to knowing who Rhi's King is, at least I've got a guess after all the mentions in this book. Despite the lack of action, the Queen does get in a couple of little digs that leave the Kings both upset and struggling to come together with a good plan. Ignite came with some good revelations and a lot of planning and strategizing. It leaves me thinking that this is the preparation for the final war. Pieces are being laid in place and we are left ready to take on the queen and possibly the Others.

I enjoyed Ignite although I missed the action. This book definitely had some features missing but I'm sure they are just in preparation for the next book. Making me even more excited for it's release!

It is hard to discuss Ignite without giving away details. Spoilers at this point are bad. I would highly advise catching up on the past books before reading any current novels. A war is coming, or should I say the war is here. It seems all that is left is hurling that first shot, which may have just taken place. Intricate groundwork is present in the Dragon King novels, and deep-rooted subplots are what appeals most to me in urban fantasy/ paranormal romance.

The concept of supernatural beings living among humans fascinates me. These heroes are powerful, charismatic, intelligent, virtuous, and captivating. In their world the fae, shifters, magic users, and some I have yet to identify, all band together to fight for humanity. The romantic couple in Ignite fit in this world as one would expect. V and Claire have a quirkiness that makes them stand out. The two are charming and perfect for one another. Donna Grant shines in the urban fantasy/paranormal romance genre. She quickly became one of my favorites, and I am eager to return to her world as soon as her writing allows me to.

Ignite (Dark Kings, #15) by Donna Grant is a paranormal romance. And the story continues... There is so much of the story unfolding through out Vlad and Claire's budding romance. This book is an investment in the series and is definitely not a place to enter into this world of Dragons, Fae, and Reapers for the first time. The author threads each element of the world into an interesting story of romance and subterfuge. This book is necessary to the definitive conclusion of the Dark Kings Series as the story progresses.

Dark King book #15 written by Donna Grant, the true mother of dragons. The Dark King series continues to get better with each book written. This fantasy world that Donna Grant has created sweeps me away each time.
In this book, V determines that Claire is the only one able to help him regain the use of his sword. Claire has kept a few secrets from her friends at Dreagan. After staying asleep in dragon form for centuries, V must learn to live in this new world the dragons find themselves. V and Claire are true dragon mates and as always there is a surprise twist. Something Donna's fans have been begging for since book one. It's great to see Ulrik walking around Dreagan and returning home. Usaeil is as ever the Queen "B". Balladyn surprised me with his decision regarding Usaeil and the Kings. The mystery surrounding Rhi's King is still unsolved. Con (insert heavy sigh) - promised no spoilers, so let's just say OMG - CON!!! I floved the book and can't wait for book #16.

I received a free copy of this book by the publisher.

This is the fifteenth book in the Dark Kings series, however, you can read it as a stand alone novel.  I started this series probably halfway through and haven't felt lost once.  This particular book focuses on Vlad and Claire.

There's so much going on in this story with both characters and the Kings over all it's an edge of your seat type book.  When I got to the end I was like Nooooo!!!!  Dagnabit.  I want the next novel now!  *stomps foot*

Ok tantrum over ... I will wait patiently impatiently for the next installment.  Man, is it going to be a doozy! Needless to say I really enjoyed this novel and would highly recommend you jump on the Dragon King train.

Loved reading the engaging and enthralling romance story. When Claire enters Vlad's life, and he spends more time with her, he not only has a connection to his sword but also to Claire, his mate. As Claire's attraction and feelings for Vlad grow stronger, she hopes Vlad feels the same way. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read love story.
I reviewed a copy of the book through NetGalley.

Dark Kings Novel 15, Ignite, continues with V and Claire’s story. Donna Grant has given readers a long series with many heroes and many loves and many villains. Some have been defeated, some have awakened, some have come home and some have risen in power. Along the way in this fantasy saga many of the Dragon Kings have found their mates, giving them the lasting love and stability that they need. With that said, Ignite is by no means a stand-alone novel. The characters are many along with the overarching theme of good vs evil that continues with the roles changing as the stories develop. It is a great series but one that should be followed from the beginning. For fans of the series, this is a must read.

Near the conclusion, Rhi is thinking through all that has happened, much like a puzzle she must work through to find the solution for success in defeating the current enemy. That is a great analogy of the series, each book gives a little more of the overall puzzle. As these book have often done, it ends with a cliff hanger, this one is just bigger than usual. Still it is time for sides to be chosen for the battle to come. I am ready for them to bring it on.

As for V and Claire, their HEA is complete. The story begins with them as acquaintances through others. V knows that she is the one for him before Claire understands what is involved in loving a Dragon King. However, the timing, the danger, the missing King and the use of V’s legendary sword all become part of their journey to find peace and love. I enjoy stories that have a bigger picture than simply the romance of the main couple. Still as with all the Dark King books, V and Claire have a steamy relationship but there is no cheating or abuse.

I have never met this author; I know her only through her books which I have read for years. Ignite has standard heat level for her writing. It fits within the story, not as an add-in or over shadowing the main story-line. The stories are well-written, with complex and complicated characters (especially the paranormal stories). There is never gratuitous profanity which I am finding so common in so many contemporary novels today. This novel had very little real offensive language.

This is another wonderful story from the queen of paranormal suspense, I don't want to give the plot away, just know that you are in for the most thrilling ride.

I received a copy via Netgalley and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion.

Our Dark King in this story is "V"(Vlad). After many centuries of sleep, he has awoken and reclaimed his stolen sword. Even though V knows the history of the world since he slept, he hasn't experienced as much as the other Kings. Then he meets Claire...

Claire is the best friends with the wife of another Dark King, also a human. V knows she is his mate, his one and only. Claire has a very strong attraction to V also. She knows a lot more than he realizes though. Unfortunately she was involved in a kidnapping in which she learned about the Dark Kings bur claimed no memories.

V is actually set up by some of his fellow Kings. They know he is attracted to Claire so they arrange for V and Claire to work the day together at the Clinic. Claire talks to him of her dating nightmares and he decides to take her out on a real date. Even though V tells himself he can never see her again
he really is lost to her, as she is him. Finally Claire takes matter into her own hands and pushes him over the edge.

Danger is abound for the Kings and the evil that wants them gone. Can he and Claire survive this? Can V keep her safe?

Loved V and Claire's story! It seems like every book in this series gets better and better! V is quieter than some of the Kings but I loved the relationship between the two, the honesty and love. I felt bad for Claire when she wasn't sure about their relationship and they were faced with danger.

Then the danger itself, something that has been culminating for centuries.

Great story!!

Ignite, book 15 in the Dark Kings series by Donna Grant, has quickly become one of my favorite paranormal series. Supremely addictive, every book makes you wish this world were real, that these characters were real, and even after finishing the book, makes the reader not want to let go. I will say, this is a series that builds upon the prior books in the series and without that background, there are people you won’t know and events that have occurred that effect what happens to the Dragon Kings. I would highly recommend reading this as part of the series and not a stand alone. Especially since a lot of what’s happening with Vlad is covered in the prior book. All that being said, it’s a great series as a whole and paranormal fans should definitely check it out.

In Dragonfire, we learned that Vlad’s sword had the power to bring back the dragons, but had been lost for centuries until Sabina found it. Now that he has it back, the magic lies dormant and won’t respond to his touch as it should. That is, until he meets the lovely Claire and begins to have feelings for her. But Claire is a human and Vlad a Dragon King. Their relationship seems destined to fail from the get go, especially since Darius warns him that she and Sophie, his wife, are more like sisters than friends. But he can’t deny the intense attraction he has for her.

Claire followed her best friend to Dreagan, never letting anyone know that her memories that were supposed to be erased after Edinburgh weren’t. The one thing she knew was that there was no place safer than being in Dreagan and if that came with the added benefit of meeting V, then all the better. Claire has been in a slump when it comes to dating and most importantly, in trying to find love. She’s a romantic that believes there has to be a Prince out there, yet she just keeps kissing frogs. It’s up to V to show her that what she really needs is a King.

So the book ends with another cliffhanger, because again, every book is leading up to the battle to end all battles. I love that every book changes the dynamic of the Kings. Those that were thought of as enemies become allies and vice versa. The twists this series keep giving us! And the big one for Claire and V, I didn’t see that one coming. Honestly, I can not wait for more books in the series and I so want this big battle already.

3.5 Stars Ignite is the fifteenth book in the Dark Kings and is V (Vlad) and Claire’s story. The dynamics of this story was very different to what I have previously read in this series but due to the characters I like the way it was expressed. I enjoyed the story and the characters and will await anxiously for the next book

Dragon King, V, is having a hard time adjusting to his new life and now he's uncertain about his attraction to the lovely Claire. She can hardly believe that the handsome and brooding V is interested in her because she has had lousy luck with men and dating. They are able to work on their attraction while the Dragon Kings, Rhi, and the Dark Faie unite and prepare to battle Usaeil. What will happen to the Dragon Kings and their human mates?

Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for an ARC; all opinions are my own.

Omg! I feel like every book in the Dragon King’s series keeps getting better and better! If you haven’t read any other previous books, go now and do it!
We finally get the full backstory picture of Vlad (known as V). He finally has his sword back but hasn’t been able to figure out why it isn’t working for him. Enter Claire. Of course we know she should be his mate. It just takes them both a hot minute to figure it out. Could she be the key to unlocking the magic of his sword?
I’m hoping the next book will bring the long awaited story of Con and the end of the war with Usaeil.
5 stars for V and Claire.

This is a series where you need to start from the beginning to really understand the big conflict that runs through all the books. You can definitely jump in and mostly get the gist of what's going on, but I think you'll miss some of the more subtle foreshadowing or history that way. If you're already invested in the series, then this is a solid read. It's a bit of a calmer or smaller story at first as you see V and Claire come together, but then you really get pushed back into the big series arc in the last few chapters.
