Wow! There aren’t words to describe this story! You have to read it yourself. This is a didn’t stop reading until I finished it book. A riveting story of friendship, family, love and secrets. Immerse yourself in the lives of Grace and Lee. Two friends who each have secrets of their own and what they are afraid to reveal to the other.
I absolutely loved, The Nowhere Child, by Rea Frey (10 Stars) and was so excited to see her most recent book, Because You’re Mine available. Unfortunately, I didn’t love this one, it was just okay. I appear to be in the minority, as I am seeing mostly 5 star ratings. I didn't enjoy any of the characters and struggled to relate or even sympathize with them. There are some GREAT twists but not enough to overcome the characters. It took me 8 days to read which is a long time for me to finish a book. I was never anxiously awaiting my kids to go to sleep or skipping chores to get deeper into this novel. I will definitely read whatever Rea Frey writes next and wasn’t discourcaged by not enjoying, Because You’re Mine...I think the topic just wasn’t for me.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity read an e-ARC of, Because You’re Mine, in exchange for my honest review.

I wAs given an advanced copy to read in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this book. I really loved how it had so many twists and turns. I recommend this read for anyone who likes a story that keeps you guessing until the end.
Single mother Lee has the daily routine down to a science: shower in six minutes. Cut food into perfect squares. Never leave her on-the-spectrum son Mason in someone else’s care. She’ll do anything—anything—to keep his carefully constructed world from falling apart. Do anything to keep him safe.
But when her best friend Grace convinces her she needs a small break from motherhood to recharge her batteries, Lee gives in to a weekend trip. Surely a long weekend away from home won’t hurt?
Noah, Mason’s handsome, bright, charismatic tutor—the first man in ages Lee’s even noticed—is more than happy to stay with him.
Forty-eight hours later, someone is dead.
I definitely felt connected to these characters and was engrossed with the story from page one. When they say you don't see that ending coming, they mean it! It was a complete shock, I'm still thinking about it even after hours of having finished this book. Highly recommend!
Thank you #NetGalley and #st.martinsbooks for the ARC of Because You're Mine by Rea Frey
Pub Date: 06 Aug 2019
Man. Oh. Man. That was awesome.
I was hooked from page 1 and it didn’t disappoint. Rea Frey did an awesome job with leaving little Easter eggs for the reader to look back on when the twists and turns happened. Most impressive was how the book turned your world upside-down by the end, just when you thought you had it figured out.
Characters were great - easy to get to know and interesting enough that you wanted to always learn more about their histories. They felt like they could be your own friends, very likeable..
I really wish I had someone to talk to about this book! It was fantastic and I’ll be thinking about it for a while.
What an amazing ride this book was....starts off fast paced ..... hooked from the start and it just keeps going full steam ahead.......until the end.....I promise you , you will not see the end coming.....you might think you do but you won’t.
I’m a big Rea Frey fan, her first book was awesome and this one was just as good if not better. Go check her out!
Oh my gosh! Definitely did not expect that! I mean I thought I had it figured out but... This is the 2nd Rea Frey book I’ve read. I loved the first one but this one? Yes yes YES! Great book that will definitely pull you in from the start and won’t let you go until the last page!
Thank you so much to the publisher for offering me a complimentary copy on Netgalley!
Thank you st Martin's Press for giving me the opportunity to read this book. I loved the authors previous book, Not Her Daughter , so I was excited to read this new book . The book did not disappoint . Absolutely loved the characters . They were very well developed. The whole book was full of secrets , betrayal , guilt and lies. It goes from a fight between Lee and grace who seem to be the best of friends to a tragedy . Then to top it off the surprise ending that left me with chills . If you want a wonderful read full of suspense your going to want to buy this book, and be prepared because you won't be able to set it down!
A twisty story centered on a single mom, her best friend, her special needs son and his tutor - all of whom have nasty secrets. Hard to put down, this novel leaves you guessing until the very end.
Because You’re Mine by Rea Frey has the best plot twist at the end that I have read in a very long time, and it was impressive. With all the scenarios that crossed my mind as I read, THAT twist did not. The storyline builds around everyone keeping secrets which is always interesting.
Rea Frey’s style of writing is different and a little edgy with her characters. They’re not always the lovable or even the likable kind at times, but that’s part of what makes her writing uniquely hers. I almost gave up early on because the special needs aspect missed the familiarity mark that it needed with me, but I’m glad I pressed through that. I think this story could have also been written from the three main character POV’s, but that’s where Rea Frey is different. Telling this story the way she did is part of what drops your jaw at the end.
Many thanks to NetGalley, and St. Martin’s Press, for this advance copy. My thoughts about this novel are given freely and independently.
I am so surprised by this book!! I will confess that I thought I started to understand where the book was leading and who was who and saw the answers unfolding. I almost wanted to stop reading the book because I was so annoyed that it was so predictable but I am so glad I kept going because at one point I just yelled “Oh My God!”
Rea did a fantastic job of making the plot twist and really laying a solid foundation that had a good build.
I will definitely look forward to see what else she comes up with.
I was drawn right into this well written thriller. One of those books that Incould not putt down and the ending wow never expected.thanks#netgalley #st.martinsbooks.
Oh my gosh. I started reading the book with great anticipation. I admit to being a bit disappointed and restarted the book twice trying to differentiate the characters and felt like it was just dragging. And then WHAM! This was intentional and lulled me into no expectations so I was completely rattled as events unfolded. I could not put this book down and my emotions were all over the place. Even when I thought I knew the direction it was going, I was wrong. It really makes me look twice at neighbors or co workers who I feel like I know well only to have no idea what circumstances they’ve endured and the resulting personality quirks that ensued. We all have secrets so who do we trust? I wish there were more than 5 stars and should come with a warning... This is a call in sick to work kind of book. #netgalley #stmartinspress #reafrey
Wow! I love this book. I read the whole book in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down, It is an amazing, well thought out domestic mystery novel. It has believable, true to life characters and the writing has a pleasing flow. The author has a wonderful talent for establishing the relationships of all the characters. The ending I did not see coming. This is an awesome read. I look forward to reading more books from this author. I was provided an advance reader copy of this book by NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Because You're Mine by Rea Frey kept me riveted with its twists and turns, including a last second surprise that was totally unexpected! Her second novel, Ms. Frey has learned much since writing Not Her Daughter, which I felt had far too many holes in the plot to be viable. Because You're Mine has likable characters with challenging pasts who are quick to help each other when times are rough. Lee has a son on the autism spectrum and her friend Grace is always there to lend a hand. Noah, Lee's son's tutor is also there to help with raising Mason and they are a great team, until tragedy strikes and Grace and Noah must pick up the pieces. A uniquely suspenseful story that shocks you until the very last page. Don't miss this one!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Beyond amazing I enjoyed this book so very much. The characters and storyline were fantastic. The ending I did not see coming Could not put down nor did I want to.
A bit of a domestic thriller. Three lives and perspectives intersect in unpredictable ways. I think this would be a great beach book! It is quick reading and the plot is complicated but not so dense you can't read a ton in one sitting! A mysterious death, people with unknown pasts and secrets. All very compelling stuff.
This domestic mystery was a great, easy read. The characters were all so well defined. Mason, the six year old character was very realistic, and he captured my heart . Great story line, with many secrets. I thought I know the ending, I was wrong. Really enjoyed this book, will continue to follow this author. I would highly recommend it to friends and family. Thank you for the advanced copy.
Wow! This one drew me in from the beginning and kept me riveted until the end. And the ending .... not at all what I was expecting. Great job weaving the past with the present. Overall, just FANTASTIC!! Loved Rea Frey's first book; LOVED this one. This definitely needs to be on your TBR list.
Thank you #netgalley and #stmartinspress for the eARC,
So I sat down about four hours ago with the intent to start reading this book - just the first few chapters. Here we are, four hours later, and I devoured the entire book. That’s how good it is. The story is told in three different perspectives. I made a lot of assumptions while reading this but I was wrong every time. The storyline was riveting but I also fell in love with the way the author approached sensitive topics such as sexual assault, alcoholism, and suicide. All subjects were appropriately integrated into the story. I felt empathy for each characters’ struggle - it felt like I really knew these people. I also loved how none of the characters were perfect, yet they were all likable. I think some of the secondary characters were *mostly* useless, though they did add some comic relief.
