A Stranger on the Beach by Michele Campbell was a good thriller. I didn't find any significant twists that were difficult to detect. It would make for a good weekend/ beach read, but it otherwise did not surprise me too much.
Free e-book, review is my own.
I don't think anyone is a stranger to being subjected to others perceptions of who they are. It does not matter the reality, they will always treat you and default to how they perceive you. This book is all about perceptions and how false impressions can lead down a crazy path. This book was entertaining with so many red herrings. You dont know what to think or believe.
psychological/domestic thrillers that at made me ask myself questions though out the book but over all a enjoyable reading .
This book a minute for me to get into and the first half had me kind of confused. The second half made up for it. I would have liked more character info for Aiden.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC! I was originally excited to read this because I enjoy psychological/domestic thrillers, but I found myself losing interest rather quickly
Absolutely love this story. It had me on the edge of my seat. Highly recommend this authors work. Cannot wait to read more from her in the near future.
I do enjoy when a suspense novel has the story coming from several differing viewpoints. When you realize that everyone is hiding a secret of some sort. This is filled with "whodonewhat" types of questions and keeps you interested all the way through, which is harder than some might think. A good escapist novel to while away a day at the beach or pool.
Did Not Finish. Open-door romance/intimacy scenes are not for me and so I could not get very far in this one before I had to close it and move on.
Fast paced, suspenseful thriller that kept me guessing what was real and what wasn’t. Thank you to the publishers for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved this book!!! I love when a character gives me the creeps, and all I want to do is keep reading. Aiden definitely was that character for me, especially in the beginning. I love how Campbell twisted the storyline. I had a prediction about the ending, and was dead on, but it was still enjoyable to read. Definitely would recommend.
*Thank you so much @stmartinspress for the #gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.*
Quick thriller that keeps you on your toes. It was deep dive of a read for me with the two characters and plot.
A Stranger on the Beach was not quite what I expected. It turned out to be a really good and interesting read. I'm so glad I was able to read this book!
DNF at 25%. It's been over three years since I received this ARC. I gave it a go and have decided it is not for me. It interested me then and no longer does now.
I really liked that this book was told in a dual POV. It really added to the story. This was an easy thriller to read.
The big question on the story is where is Caroline's husband? As she is throwing a party she quickly sees him, however, he is not alone? What is the best way to handle this.. REVENGE, of course!
Be ready for things to happen quickly and spiral out of control. Be ready to be obsessed and quickly turning pages to see what happens.
I will say you will think twice about the people you may meet at the beach..
Talk about one’s life going to hell in a handbasket...Caroline appears to have it all, a loving husband of 20 years, lots of money, a new beach house on the ocean. And all of a sudden, it all goes away, starting at her housewarming party. As the dominoes fall, Caroline has a brief fling with Aidan, a local young man who was a bartender at her party.
Told from two diametrically opposed viewpoints, Caroline’s and Aidan’s, the book moves at a fast clip.
In the beginning, the book reminded me of You by Caroline Keppnes. It’s disturbing in the same way and more than once I felt a shiver from reading Aidan’s chapters. But is Caroline a victim or a really smart femme fatale? I went back and forth pondering this over and over. Flip side, I felt very confident I knew what was going on with the husband even in the early chapters.
The book starts off much stronger than it finishes. The point of a psychological thriller is to surprise readers and catch us off guard. But Campbell leaves such obvious clues that I could foresee every big reveal.
My thanks to netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for an advance copy of this book.
I read this book a few years ago. This book was amazing! This book is the definition of a psychological thriller. From the bartender to the husband. AMAZING. 10 stars!!
I didn't love this one unfortunately. I was engaged in the beginning and I thought the dual POVs were interesting but the twist seemed way too obvious. I also didn't find any of the characters particularly likable. I did enjoy the writing style, so I would try the author again, despite this one being a miss for me.
This was a very good quick thriller. Hit all the key notes and was overall good. It was a bit predictable, but that didn't make it bad at all. If you're looking for a nice beach read, this one is a good recommendation.
Ups and downs are common in marriage, especially after 20 years. When Hannah, their daughter, goes to college, Jason travelling a lot for work, and Caroline is focused on her dream house in the Hamptons. When Caroline's project is done, she decides to throw a big party, inviting their rich friends. Last minute, Jason says he is stuck with a work thing and won't be able to make it. There is a big spoiler with this, and it makes drama!! You'll read on to continue the drama unfolding.
Thank you Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC in exchange for my honest review. This was an enjoyable book.
