I loved reading as I kid but struggle to find time as an adult. It’s often impossible to sit down to focus. While this book was not memorable overall, I’m sure it’s not you, dear book, it’s me.
I just couldn't bring myself to finish this book. Even though I am not sure who is lying. The writing was slow, and I did not care for any of the characters who were two dimensional.
I dnfed this book. I just haven’t been able to get into this book no matter how many times I keep trying. It just can’t keep my attention or interest.
Catching up on backlist. This one just wasn’t for me. It felt more drama-y and less thriller-y than I was hoping for. I know it’s well loved, though! Not all books are for everyone.
I really enjoyed the dual perspectives of the first half of the book. it created tension and of course I was compelled to find out whose account was accurate, or if the truth was somewhere in the middle. when the storytelling reverted to a more traditional structure for the second half it lost some of the suspense for me, but it was still an enjoyable read, barring a crazy, unrealistic hiccup in the last few pages.
On the surface, Caroline seems to have it all. She checks all the boxes and then some: family, home, vacation home, fabulous wardrobe. But things aren't all as they seem, because he might be cheating. Then she meets a handsome bartender on the beach. Insert crisis here...
This is a great book for the beach if you like compelling thrillers designed to keep you on your toes. The book goes back and forth between Caroline and the stranger. You hear her and then him, and you decide where the truth is.
I did not love this book. A lot of it had to do with the fact that allll the characters were jerks, and although Aiden was supposed to be sympathetic he was just as psycho as Caroline. Interesting concept but not my cup of tea.
My kind of read! Thriller, suspense and realistic characters. Michele Campbell knows how to keep her readers wanting more. A new twist with every page. If you like to keep guessing (and I’ll be honest, I rarely guess the ending of these thrillers) you will love this book.
“A Stranger on the Beach” by Michele Campbell is another huge success! Creepy! Frightening! Hair-raising! Scary! I will read all of her books!!. I received a copy of this book from St. Martin’s Press via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I absolutely love Michelle Campbell. I am a sucker for beach reads, and good psychological thriller too. So combine them together and I am in. This book didn’t disappoint. It was great!
This was a riveting read and my ideal mystery thriller. Although, halfway through the book I unraveled the mystery. I finished the book because I enjoyed the writing and hope to see more from this author.
Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me early access to this thrilling read!
Unfortunately, I did not feel I could connect with any of the characters and I really disliked all of them.
Didn't catch my attention the way I hope a thriller will, and I found the first half to read very choppy, but it did surprise me with one of it's twists.
I was incredibly pleased with this one, Michele Campbell knows what she is doing and I love everything she writes. I loved that i questioned myself throughout reading the book, I love trying to figure out an unreliable narrator and Campbell kept me guessing the entire way. I certainly wasn't expecting things to turn out the way they did, and what more could I ask for from a psychological thriller?!
Wow! What a good book!
This book you better pay attention to. It switches between characters at times and if you aren’t paying attention you will have to go back and reread to follow.
It is worth the attention.
Twisted tale for sure. Loved it!
When I first started reading it really pulled me in, but after reading a little more I found myself confused.
It was a multi prospective that a just could not keep up with.
The main person Caroline was a bit ditsy and unreliable.
Though it had great bones for a great read, it just was not all there.
I was a slightly confused at first with the different points of view and the same incidents experienced in different ways. However, once I caught on this was a quick and engaging read. This was exactly what I want a psychological thriller to be, with all the lies, obsession, guilt and revenge to keep me guessing. I was completely surprised when the truth was revealed and absolutely loved it. I will be recommending this to all my thriller readers.
Psychological thriller told from two points of view. I enjoyed seeing the same events being told in two different ways a bit like the affair on TV. Had a good pace and very complex . I read this in one sitting which is not easy with two children.
What an interesting premise. I was not sure how or what direction this was going to go, but glad I pushed through because it picked up and ended up being a page turner. I had it figured out by the time it was mostly done, but this was still enjoyable, and then you throw in a storm for added effect and it was nuts. This is told from Aiden and Caroline's POV's, which were at times confusing but yet helpful in piecing together what was happening, once you start to understand what is going on I think that will make sense. In the beginning it is a bit much and I wasn't sure if I would keep going, I understand that believability is not really a thing with thrillers but with this one it was a lot. Again, about 3/4 of the way through it all came together pretty nicely and this was a wild ride with a satisfactory ending.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the e-galley to review.
I loved this book so much! A lot of the time psychological thrillers can fall flat but this is one that won't let you down. I loved that you were able to get two points of views for both Caroline and Aden, and that I had no idea what the ending would be. Most of the time it is easy to guess what the outcome will be in this genre but this isn't one of those stories! Action packed from the very beginning, it won't be disappointing. I highly recommend it.
