I almost stopped reading this book a quarter if the way in. I was extremely annoyed at how Carolyn and Jason mysteriously split. Then she sought out Jason and they miraculously reconciled without going into detail. I decided to read the rest of the book and can understand with the ending why it may have been like this. I would have liked that detail of the story expanded on. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC!
This grabbed my attention from the very beginning and I was sucked in, but about half way in I got bored. Aidan's character was capital Crazy! and the whole way through you are wondering what Jason really is up to, but it just fell a little flat for me. Would still recommend.
Michele Campbell's latest novel, A Stranger on the Beach, is another suspenseful effort that makes for a great beach read. Caroline Stark seems to have it all-a beautiful new mansion on the beach in an exclusive New York community, attractive and successful husband, glamorous friends and a noticeable beauty. A chance meeting on the beach one day with hot, sexy and troubled local Aidan Callahan proves life altering for both Caroline and Aidan.
When Caroline is humiliated by her husband at her own house-warming party she embarks on a dangerous tryst with Aidan who wants more than what Lynn can offer. Rejected, Aidan continues to follow Caroline who is growing more and more frightened. Caroline's marriage is falling apart, her money is gone and Aidan, a stranger, is suddenly everywhere.
During a dangerous storm, someone ends up dead and the reader is led on a game of cat and mouse. This is part of the book picks up pace from what is a slower beginning. Caroline and Aidan are not necessarily very likeable people but are well developed by Campbell.
Told from alternating view-points I found myself changing my mind back and forth-just who is the unstable stranger on the beach? Who is lying and why? How dangerous is Aiden? These questions and more will keep readers engaged throughout Campbell's newest release.
A riveting novel of a woman and a man. What is fiction and what is truth? How can one tell between the lies and confusion? A woman in the throughs of a messy relationship seeks out the comfort of a young man, but is he troubled ..or ..is ..she?
This book kept me enthralled til the very end.
I really really wanted to love this book. Like really really wanted to love it.
This one fell so flat I couldn't even finish it. I got the ARC and was so excited! I dropped everything to start it. Bleh... I wasn't invested in any of the characters, I hated the plot line (so overdone) and I just wanted to get to the end so I could stop reading it. I got to 50% and abandonded it!
I enjoyed her last two books, they were so good. They were not my usual genre and I still enjoyed them. So sad this one just didn't do it for me.
This was a non stop read book for me! I was surprised at how quickly I was able to pour myself into this book. I didn't want it to end. Another thriller with an ending you will not see coming! Seriously a must read this year.
After reading "She Was the Quiet One" by Michelle Campbell, I was excited to read more by her, and she did not disappoint with "A Stranger on the Beach". Told from different points of view, "A Stranger on the Beach" is the story of Caroline, who has an affair with, the much younger, Aiden, the local bartender who lives near her beach-house, after she finds out her husband is having an affair at their house-warming party. After their night together, Aiden seems to be obsessed with Caroline, to the point of being threatening. Though as you read on, and the story shifts back-and-forth between Caroline's point-of-view and Aiden's, you find yourself questioning who is the reliable narrator and who is telling the truth, as their versions of the same events seem to be quite at odds. It was hard to put this book down, as it sucked you into the plot from the beginning! Highly recommend!
Thanks to St Martin's Press, and Net Galley, for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I was fortunate enough to be gifted an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and St. Martin's Press. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This book was really freaking good. Well written, suspenseful, and unreliable narrators that had me questioning whose story I actually believed. The perfect recipe for a psychological thriller.
While the recipe was the same, the ingredients were original and engaging. I hereby nominate it for your go-to psychological thriller beach read this summer!
This novel seemed that it would be a compelling mystery. However, I thought the mystery was predictable and have been done before. I also found this to be repetitive. However, I recommend this for those that like Paula Hawkins and J. P. Delaney.
This was a first book by this author I’ve read. Wow! It was so very well done. I definitely recommend to psychological thriller fans. I’ll akso eagerly read her other books and watch for future books from her,

A solid 3.5 stars for this novel by Michele Campbell.
"A Stranger on the Beach" is what you would consider a two perspective story line. A thriller with many twists and turns, the story surely keeps you wondering where it is going and how it will end up until almost the end.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this prior to release.
Loved this book. Excellent psychological thriller. Michele campbell did an amazing job and I look forward to reading more. The book starts with Caroline Stark who meets a stranger on the beach. You know from the beginning she will regret this.
She is a women who is scorned.
It has all the aspects to make this a book you CANT put down. I like the characters, however some are naïve which is similar in life
The writing is good and I enjoyed the pace of the book which is something that is important to me. I think that at times you will question the book but stay with it as all is not what it seems. the imagery is beautiful and I can feel the ocean the way this is written.
You may think you have the plot figured out but a new turn will take you in a different direction.
mystical and magical is best words to describe the book that captured my attention!
I received a copy of A STRANGER ON THE BEACH on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the publisher and author for the opportunity.
FIVE STARS! And here’s why:
Michele Campbell blew me away! Total book hangover. The story captivated my interest from the very first page, through a series of twists I didn’t see coming, to the very end. It has all the elements of a great thriller: family drama, multiple points of view, and a story shrouded in mystery. Every time I thought I knew what was going on, the author sent the reader on another twist and the rollercoaster ride was hard to get off. I kept reading and reading and reading! It’s hard to discuss the plot without giving too much away, but I’ll leave you with one thought. Unreliable narrators. WOW. The whole premise blew my mind. And, it’s been a whole week and I’m still thinking about this book. Highly recommend. A STRANGER ON THE BEACH does not disappoint.
I absolutely love Michele Campbell! Her books just keep getting better!
In A Stranger on the Beach you better watch out who you trust. You never truly know a person.
What a ride this was! Chapters kept going from Caroline or Aidan point of view and man the chapters were so different. I didn’t know what was happening. I had quite a few jaw dropping instances.
Could not put this book down and what an ending.
Great book, well written, highly recommend.
Thank you Netgalley, St-Martin’s Press and Michele Campbell. 5 stars.
From the moment he spotted her on the beach, a deep infatuation settled in, and he knew instantly that he had to have her, no matter the cost. She was way out of his league, and he knew it, but when she stumbled into his bar one night, obviously looking for some comfort, he jumped at the chance to be the one to offer it to her. She gave herself to him easily, but then her soon-to-be ex husband came crashing back into her world, and she immediately tossed him aside. But he doesn't plan to let her walk away so easily... he's gotten a taste of her life, and he wants more!
Caroline thought she had everything, a beautiful home, happy marriage, and a blossoming new business, but she couldn't have been more wrong. In an instant she loses everything, one unsettling phone call from her husband and she learns that he has been keeping secrets, ones that threaten to take everything she loves away... but she isn't giving up her privileged life without a fight. With her marriage unraveling she turns to a stranger for comfort and winds up getting herself trapped in a deadly little love triangle!
A Stranger on the Beach will lure you in from the very first page, and have you completely addicted by the next... WOW what a read! The story that lies between the pages of this one is certain to thrill, every page is riddled heart-pounding action, drama, gripping emotion, and a few unexpected turns that will leave your mind in shambles. This is my first encounter with this author's work and I have to say she did not disappoint, her perfectly designed tale left me rattled in the best possible way! Highly recommend you get your hands on this one, it's a can't miss thriller that is certain to have you dangling helplessly from the edge of your seat the whole way through!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
Several points of view, who's telling the truth?
Caroline Stark, a forty-something year old mother of one is in her dream home alone. Her daughter, Hannah, is in college, leaving Caroline and Jason empty nesters. Caroline is trying to get her interior design career back in gear, while Jason is an investment banker.
Caroline notices a man gawking at her home several times, and while out for a run encounters him. They introduce themselves to one another, and that's the night, Caroline's marriage is about to change; after twenty years. She informs Jason that she is throwing a party to combine Jason's birthday and showing off the new house. Except Jason, informs her that he can't make it because he's stuck in Cleveland. Caroline knew he was lying.
Aidan Callahan is the local bartender, whose brother is the Chief of Police. Aidan got into some trouble, and his brother Tommy, watches out for him, trying to help him including finding him the bartending job. The town people view Aidan with suspicion, and Aidan is always dreaming of a better life.
Caroline out of despair finds herself in the same bar that Aidan works. They flirt, and Caroline has a bit too much to drink. Aidan takes her home in her vehicle and ends up spending the night. Caroline pours her heart out about her broken marriage, telling Aidan, that her husband took all the money. Then Aidan told Caroline that he'd help her get her money back.
From there, the story evolves into Caroline's version of what is happening, then switches to Aidan's version of what is happening as the story plays out. Both believable, and the story kept me glued to the book to find out what would happen next. This was an original, suspenseful, full of twists that kept me guessing read!

A Stranger on the Beach by Michele Campbell will be a fabulous beach read this summer. Caroline has built a life that she loves with her husband, and daughter, or so she thinks! They have just built a house overlooking the beach when her life seems to fall apart. One day she notices a man staring up at her beach house, and from there the story unfolds. Told in alternating perspectives from the man on the beach, Aiden, and Caroline this book will leave you guessing until the very end. Who’s telling the truth about the events that occur and who can you really trust?

I give this book 4 stars. A Stranger on the Beach by Michele Campbell was overall well written with a solid story line, but it was predictable for me. If you love a good psychological twisted thriller, I definitely recommend this book!
Michele Campbell's book A Stranger on the Beach is a homerun...she tells a story of Caroline and Aiden and what happens when they meet..It is told alternating between Caroline and Aiden and their perspective on events....she has you as the reader changing and questioning every thing you thought was true...all comes to a head " after the storm "...there are a lot of good supporting characters as well....looking forward to the next book...Michele keeps getting better with each book...
