What's not to love? A beach, a mysterious handsome stranger, a wealthy family, and a murder. Can you solve the case of who did it? I enjoyed this book from start to finish. It was an easy read, but very enjoyable.

Thank you to NetGallery for an ARC of this book for an honest review.

What a twisted tale! Every time I thought that I had figured it out another curve ball! A Stranger on the Beach grabbed my attention from the opening pages, but having said this, I did not really like any of the characters, I.e. I wasn’t cheering for anyone. The plot is good, but gets a little wiggly with the Russian mob scenario, (don’t jump the shark!) I did finish the novel and give it a solid 3 stars.

I really enjoyed this book and I would highly recommend it. It has a great story line, excellent main characters and it is a real page turner. I read this book in one sitting and the hours just flew by!

This book has everything that I love in a story: a picture-perfect couple, complex backstories, a beautiful beach setting, glitz, glamour, mystery, and situations that remind us that nothing is what it seems. It defines what psychological thriller means.

The story is told by Caroline and Aidan and they have totally different perspectives on the same situations. It's so inconsistent that I questioned their sanity. I have never read a book where the two character perspectives are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Everything was dissimilar. What Caroline and Aidan think, feel, see, say, and do reflects completely differing stories which makes them both unreliable narrators. It is refreshing and unique, and I loved it.

My feelings swayed back and forth as Caroline and Aidan narrate the story. I didn't know who to believe. What really happened? Who is being manipulated? I questioned everything, even my own judgement. I had no clue what was really going on. I gave up trying and just went along for the ride. The narration switches away from Caroline and Aidan for the last 20% of the book, and that's when the truth started to reveal itself.

This book is about perspective, manipulation, infidelity, greed, lies, betrayal, revenge, class, marriage, regrets, money, temptation, and family. The differing perspectives just blew me away and gave me so many tidbits to think about. Michele Campbell is an excellent writer that weaves fascinating, magnetic, layered characters around a complex plot that keep readers riveted.

I loved It's Always the Husband and She Was The Quiet One but this book is by far my favorite of the three. This is definitely a standout book for me, and it lingered in my mind for a long time. This story is perfect to read on the beach while sipping a cool drink and listening to the ocean.

This book started off good but lost the plot several chapters in. The characters weren’t as developed as I would have liked, especially Caroline. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book!

This started off okay, but not long into the book it all began to unravel quickly. The writing was absolutely terrible. It's amateurish - repetitive, hard to follow and the story dragged. The characters weren't that great. The whole thing lacked depth. It was all so awful. I couldn't bring myself to finish this one, and I hate not finishing a book.

I loved. Michele Campbell’s previous books and was so excited to get to read the latest thriller! I wasn’t disappointed! Another score for her! You don’t wanna miss this! She writes the best thrillers that keep you wanting reading all night!

This book started out promising but it lost me after only a few chapters.
The chapters alternate between Caroline's viewpoint and Aiden's. Each one telling an extremely different version of what's going on. I didn't like either character and I skimmed until the end to find out what was really going on.

Thank you Netgalley for providing me a copy in exchange for an honest review. Unfortunately, I didn’t love this one. I felt that Caroline was a hapless character who grated on my nerves from the beginning. I also found the last sentence of each chapter to be annoying... not every chapter needs to end with a foreshadowing sentence. I did enjoy the plot and found the pacing to be on point. I just never related to the characters and found their actions to often be bewildering. Many will love this one, I just wasnt one of them.

A tense psychological thriller set in the Hamptons. Old vs new, rich vs poor, this book has it all including a murder, a missing body and a ready-made suspect. There is a hurricane brewing and bad things happen when the lights go out.

Thank you NetGalley for a chance to review this title.

Overall, I was entertained by this story. It started out a little cheesy: rich woman, suspects husband is cheating, what will the neighbors think, but then the plot took off and kept me interested. I was annoyed at some of the main characters choices, she was definately flawed, and some of the plot turns were a bit unbelieveable. But, if you can suspend reality in your mind, this book is a fun ride

Caroline moves into a beautiful house in the Hamptons. She is having the housewarming party when her husband walks in with “the other woman”. Caroline is furious, so she decided to go to the “townie” bar to blow off steam. She meets Aiden, the local “bad boy” and welp, things take off from there. A really quick paced book from Campbell that I enjoyed very much!

Ok, who is telling the truth or is it neither? Is she the one who picks him up to murder her hubby? Is he the bartender who picks her up? Is it love? Is it violent? Is it all of the above?

The story line is semi-predictable, but as it changes voice from chapter to chapter the reader finds the truth is variable. Pet peeve: why does an author repeatedly refer to characters with first and last name over and over, even on the same page? Paid by the word? Think we forgot? It's so annoying and not necessary.

A lot of repetition, too. Did the author think we forgot since the previous page?

Overall good story, but the writing really wasn't as good as I had hoped.

This book was hard to get into. It's just not particularly something I found myself overtly interested in. It was rather boring at parts and the characters weren't interesting to me but it was an okay read.

Who's telling the truth? You might think you know...but keep reading! This was a fun, twisty thriller that kept me guessing all the way through. I'll be looking for more books by this author.

A Stranger on the Beach by Michelle Campbell is definitely one of those books that took me awhile to get into. It also took me awhile to figure out what was happening and who to trust. The book goes back and fourth between two narrators, Caroline and Aiden. Caroline, in her new beautiful beach house, daughter off at college, and failing marriage finds herself having a passionate one-night-stand with Aiden, the local bartender. Aiden falls for Caroline hard and fast, and becomes obsessive with her, her husband, and her daughter.

Like I mentioned, this book took me awhile to get into and for the first half I really didn’t know what was going on. But once the second half came about, I was able to piece things together and actually wasn’t all that shocked by the ending.

I’d say the last half of the book, I wanted to keep reading, but the first half was a bit confusing and even frustrating at how someone could fall and love and become obsessed with someone else after a one night stand. I wanted more background and character development on Aiden as to why he was like that.

I enjoyed “It’s Always the Husband” much more, but would still recommend this book to fans of psychological thrillers. It gets three stars from me!

Thank you to Netgalley for the advanced copy of this book!

Michelle Campbell’s A Stranger on the Beach has a vibe reminiscent of that from the television show The Affair. Set in a moneyed area of Long Island in the Hamptons, there are those who can afford to summer there, and there are those who have never been able to afford to leave. Caroline Stark, who has probably never met a tennis court she didn’t like, falls into the former category, while Aidan Callahan, the hunky local bad boy with a chip on his shoulder bigger than the Montauk Lighthouse, is in the latter group.
For the majority of the book, events are told from both Caroline and Aidan’s points of view (again, shades of The Affair), yet they seem to differ so wildly that the reader’s willingness to plod on is tested (if both narrators are unreliable and/or delusional, how is one supposed to follow along? Too much work for the reader).
Finally, about three-quarters of the way through, the book becomes a true suspense novel, with twists and turns and all the details one had been hoping to have more than a mere passing mention one hundred pages earlier. This redemption came just a bit too late.

I am, as always, incredibly grateful to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing me with complimentary access to this advance copy in exchange for nothing but my honest review.

A Stranger on the Beach is a mind-bending book. It takes us on a journey between a husband and a wife and the challenges they face - both individually and together. I wondered from the very beginning if there was something that we didn't know that would make a difference... let's just say I figured it out before the author was ready to spill.

Overall, A Stranger on the Beach was a good read and I would consider reading more of the authors work in the future.

I have enjoyed Michelle Campbell's books in the past, A Stranger on the Beach was no different. It had a really good beginning-a seemingly strong heroine, beautiful Caroline is wronged by her unfaithful husband begins an affair with a younger man, handsome Aidan, and her life goes to pieces. Aidan is unbelievably naive and he just seemed a little too puppie like in his devotion to the older and elegant Caroline. Caroline is in turmoil over her husband supposed cheating with a trashy Eastern Europe tart. But, don't be fooled-do we really know what is going on? The story telling begins to go back and forth between the two main characters and before you know it someone is accused of murder. Caroline's daughter and one of the investigators get a few chapters to put forth their side of things and it just gets a little too pat. I think the middle to the ending of the book sort of just unraveled. It was not as complex as it could have been--it seemed superficial. Definitely,a good beach read as it keeps your attention-but, unfortunately for me it just was not fantastic.

I liked the characters Michele Campbell created in this suspense/thriller. There were some inconsistencies and some odd chapters and missing words, but I did read a galley and I'm sure these errors will be corrected before publication. While I enjoyed reading this one, I figured it out pretty early on and didn't jump to conclusions like Caroline did. #astrangeronthebeach #netgalley
