When I first started this book I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it. It seemed like it would be too cheesy for me. I hate to not finish a book so I kept reading and I am so glad I did! This was such a cute book! I definitely recommend reading it!
Such a fun and cute book! I absolutely got hooked from page 1 to the last! I couldn't put it down! I definitelt recommend this book to all who love swoon worthy romances!
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book. I read book three first and then this book, but it doesn’t impact the story at all.
I really like Blair. I think she has guts to go after what she wants. Unsure if I liked Richard as much, for him to sleep with someone after slow dancing with Blair cost the story a star, as he came across as weak. The other characters were entertaining, and overall this was a fun light read.
I had the opportunity to read an electronic copy of I Have Never by Camilla Isley, for free courtesy of NetGalley, but all opinions are my own.
This is the story about Blair Walker, a 29-year old who thinks she has everything together: she's up for a big promotion at work and she thinks her boyfriend is about to propose to her. What Blair thinks is about to be the best day of her life actually turns out to be the worst day.
Blair already had a list of things never to do in life, but when her life got turned upside down, she began living life off the list. What readers will find is the adventure Blair takes by nixing the list and how it ultimately may change the course of her life.
I Have Never is the second in the First Comes Love series, and did not read the first novel but it seemed as though I did not miss anything. While this story had cute romantic moments, it seemed like a typical girl-meets-boy love story. I had higher expectations but was not left completely disappointed.
This book was kind of 'meh' for me. I was drawn in enough to keep reading it but I just felt like it was lacking a bit.
It was certainly very well written and flowed well. One major distraction I found was how Richard was almost exclusively referred to as "the boss" and it was a bit over the top.
I also felt that Blair's admission of love was way too soon and kind of unbelievable.
Thank you NetGalley for my ARC. I did not read the 1st book in this series but this 2nd one was wonderful and I plan on going back to read the 1st,
Blair Walker has the worst day ever- losing her boyfriend and job in the same day. She had always followed a list of do's and dont's to live the perfect life. Blair finally decides to do everything the list says not to do.
I really enjoyed the storyline and characters and found this to be an entertaining fast read.
This is the second book I read from the First Comes Love series, and even though it is not in the right order (I read A Christmas Date first), I can say that it doesn’t matter. You can still very much enjoy the ride. The storyline is a fresh, fast-paced rom-com about a NYC junior fashion editor who must find a way to bounce back after losing everything she has worked so hard for.
Each chapter is about one item from the female lead’s list of things she cannot do in life, which allows for fun twists. I thought there was great chemistry between Blair and Richard, making for a credible romance despite the obstacles they have to overcome (except for one melt-down scene from Blair, that I thought was way over the top).
Overall, a sweet fun chick-lit!
Ahhh! This book immediately sucked me in. I fell in love right away with Blair, and her quirky style. I can't wait to see what else comes from Camilla Isley. She does a great job of pulling you in and making you feel like you are right there. The characters are well-developed and the plot kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. Would definitely recommend!
You know those books where you are like ‘yeah, okay, this isn’t too bad, its average, I can predict what’s going to happen, but I can’t stop reading it as I need know what is going to happen!’? This was one of those. Thankfully the first book didn’t really need to be read to understand what this book was about.
Blair is so excited to get to work as she knows she is about to be promoted. Her boyfriend, Gerard, has promised her a nice dinner out after work. Could it be a ring? When Blair gets to work her whole world comes tumbling down when the job gets given to her arch nemesis Aurora. She totally cheated to get that promotion!!! Then she finds out the company no longer need her? WHAT! After being escorted out of her work she is looking forward to a nice romantic evening with Gerard, however instead of asking her to marry him, he wants to break up? WHAT!
How can Blair go from having everything to having nothing in less than 24 hours?
Blair has always followed her list of ‘Nevers’ and this is where it has gotten her. So why not do the opposite? After a drunken night out, Blair wakes up in a stranger’s bed. A ridiculously good looking stranger. Who runs an online magazine website. Who just happens to need a new employee. Could this stranger be everything Blair is looking for?
I enjoyed this book! It made me laugh out loud and I didn’t want to stop reading! It was such a joyful and easy read and I did enjoy the story line. It was a typical contemporary love story, however it wasn’t all just about the love and romance. It was about showing the world that even when you get hit with the worst day ever, something good can always come out of it.
This book was a 3.5 star read for me. It was enjoyable and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys typical contemporary love stories.
Blair's life goes off track and she decides she's going to break all the rules on her list. I had tons of fun reading all about it.
This is delightful brain candy, but it does have a few instances of feminine over-reaction related to lack of communication that irritate me. Laugh out loud funny times, a few cheers when she misbehaves appropriately, and a great hero add up to a delightful read for me.
I love list books. I love titles where the characters are just as neurotic as I am! It was touching and funny to see the revelations and development and maturation of the characters. This is a great title for my new adult section and I can't wait to have some of my patrons pick it up!
I wish the book was longer!!
Really enjoyed reading overall, there were times when the wording was a little odd but overall; two thumbs up.
I would recommend this as a fun read for older students & a good read for friends.
I think Blair is very relatable as the main character, a little whoo hoo at times but very relatable. As someone who’s always been good & one day you just snap & realize. Am I really living my life the way I want to; even though things look good on paper, is it really what you want?
Even though things aren’t cookie cutter perfect. She ends up happier in the end.
I love a great Chick Lit book that I can have a good laugh during the whole story and this one by a new author to me was wonderful to read. This is book two of the series one being "Love Connection" after reading the blurb for this book I am very interested in checking it out as well. I may not have read Callilla Isley before but I have noticed her covers around and have always admired them. This is a stand-alone that can be read as the series or alone as I did.
I received a complimentary copy of this eBook from the author, publisher, and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I very much like this authors style and would highly recommend this book to others to read and enjoy. The heroine is she's very sweet, a little bit sassy and hilarious at times that is also intelligent, strong and independent.
Blair Walker is a good girl with rules she likes to follow but after having a very bad day and night she might just have to take a second look at the list.
Richard is Blair's new boss and their first meeting is not what you would call a typical job interview. I really liked Richard and many of the other characters in this book and hope we get to read more about them in the future. I also fell in love with Chevron the dog with a sweet personality.
I can't even express my love for this book right now! I read it in only a few hours, because it is so catchy that I couldn't stop reading it, it fascinated me in every way.
I think the writing of the writer and the division of the chapters are magnificent.
Blair has a plan for the perfect life, and a list on how to achieve it. But when everything crumbles around her, she resolves to do the opposite of everything on the list. I Have Never is an fun, upbeat novel following Blair's decision to throw out the old rules. Will this be the way she achieves her dreams?
Kept me sucked into the story, and wanting more! I really enjoyed the story and am looking forward to reading more by this author.
Loved this book! Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC. I’m looking forward to reading my way through the rest of the series.
Blair Walker’s carefully planned out life burns down to the ground when she loses her job, and her boyfriend of three years leaves her for his secretary, all on the same day. *cue eyeroll* Deciding to throw all her rules in the air, and finally enjoying life, her new plan of action is doing exactly opposite of what her list states.
And thus begins a really hilarious and heart-warming tale of a woman finding herself, adopting a puppy who understands english, and falling in love with the most unavailable man- her boss.
Because of course.
And like I said, the cliches are a bit obvious, but all the characters- and I’m not just talking about Blair and Richard (the boss) and Chevron (the pup), but even the side characters were just so much full of personality, that it was impossible to not be utterly charmed by this story.
And on top of that Blair was just such a likable character. Yeah she has to start her life from scratch at 29, but she never moans and groans and bitches about it. She just takes it as it is and sasses right through it. When she falls in love with Richard, who is a serious commitment-phobe, she doesn’t let it deter her, and she says it best— “I don’t quit. I don’t run away from the things that scare me. I run after what I want.”
In a nutshell, I could totally see myself as Blair. That is how relatable she was written. And for that I have to totally give it to Isley.
I have never read Camilla Isley’s works before, for obvious reasons. And I am very very happy that I actually found her, even if it was just due to my bored shenanigans on NetGalley— you know what I mean *wink wink*
I Have Never delivers exactly what it promises- a loud laughter with almost every chapter, and heart. It gives you so so much of heart that you can’t help but just feel good by the end. This is a book that is going to make you take your own “NO-NO List” and mutiny against it.
This is the first book I have read by Camilla Isley and I love her style. This was a well written romcom and it did not disappoint. The thing that drew me to this book was the description and what kept me reading was my love for the main character, Blair. She was super relatable and I really found myself rooting for her happiness. Unfortunately I wasn't a huge fan of Richard for most of the book. He did one thing that I really don't think I would have forgiven so that kind of skewed my view of him. All in all this was a great book and I want to read more of this series!
