I would like to thank Keebie Press and the Netgalley website for this partnership.

I was immediately drawn to this beautiful book cover, except that I didn't know when I asked Netgalley that it was a second book in the series, so it makes me want to read the whole series.

We learn that Magdalena is a witch and that she had kept it secret inside her for years. Christmas vacation is fast approaching and it is her favorite time of the year. She decides to get out of her house to go and see the festivities. She is going to run into Gabriel, her childhood best friend, who she misses terribly. She spends the evening with him and goes camping with her friends. One night werewolves are close to the camp and she decides to get rid of them by herself except that she needs help. Gabriel notices Magdalena's disappearance and with his friends will do everything to find her.

A book read in one go, so much so that I hooked on the story so captivating, full of suspense and twists and turns with endearing characters. Can't wait to read the whole series to learn more about the main heroine Magdalena.

The book at the beginning was very difficult to understand because I didn't pay attention to the fact that this is a sequel story.

I want to thank Netgalley and Keeble Press for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

Oops! Reader Error! I didn't pay attention to the fact that this is a sequel story. Lol!

The good news, enough of the previous plot is explained that you aren't totally lost!

I'd like to read the first book as well, though. You see I had a lot of questions that I don't feel got completely answered in the story we are given here. Magdalena and her friends have been through some serious stuff! But we are clearly told they are all around the age of thirteen. Where this became confusing to me is that they speak of ''the children'' as if they are much older. They way they talk you'd think you are reading a novel about people in their early to mid thirties.

Back to the good...I finished this book in probably twelve hours. Meaning I couldn't put it down! It was gripping, you felt like if you didn't keep reading something terrible would happen while you've set the book aside. That by reading you kept the characters alive. Yes, I'm aware as the reader we have no effect on what happens, but that is how into the story you are pulled.

All in all a great read! I'd love to read the first book, then pick this one back up and see if my opinions would change and maybe, just maybe, the four stars would become five!

Thank you NetGalley for this thrilling adventure!

This book was received as an ARC from Keebie Press - Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), Members' Titles in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

The book at the beginning was very difficult to understand. There were cracks along the plot line and a lot of character introductions were very confusing to follow along. As I read on and the story started to pick up however, I really enjoyed and I was engaged through and through. The story was very captivating and much later after I finished reading the book, I find out that this is the second installment of the Magdalena Gottschalk series so that must be why there were so many cracks throughout the storyline and I know a lot of questions will be answered as soon as I read Magdalena Gottschalk: The Crooked Trail. I can see why the book was the 2018 NYC Big Book Award Winner in Juvenile Fiction. The book will leave you captivated and breathless and children of all ages will enjoy it.

We will consider adding this title to our JFiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
