This is the first novel by this author that I have read and it won’t be the last.
Last Summer is twisty with a nice pace and keeps you hooked from the first to the last page. I thought I could see where the story was going and I thought I could guess the twist coming but there would always be another just lurking on the next page. The characters are well developed and unusually, I went from understanding and liking them, to disliking them at the very end. This is unusual and was actually quite thrilling. I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to give away any major plot twists, but read this book and you will totally understand.
I would definitely recommend this book and will be looking out for more from this author.
I received my copy of this enovel from the publisher via netgalley but this has in no way influenced my opinion or review.
My thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
LAST SUMMER twists and turns and leaves you with a dropped jaw at the end of your reading journey.. The story opens with Ella Skye conducting an interview with a famous actress, who reveals that she knows the secret to erasing your sorrowful past memories. Right away, I was on the alert when, in the next chapter, I read that Ella has lost not only her memory, but a baby as well. Damien is perturbed and solicitous. Can Damian be trusted? And what about Nathan Donovan - how does he seem to know her so well? Ella becomes determined to investigate her own past and find out exactly what happened to her, hoping to remember the events leading up to her tragic memory loss. I don't want to go into any further details about the plot, because it would just mean one spoiler alert after the other.
I will say this though: when I reached the conclusion of this novel, I can't say that I liked the main characters very much, and the ending left me a tad dissatisfied. Kerry Lonsdale's fans will not be disappointed with this fast-paced, twist-filled read.
I received an advanced digital copy of this book from the author, Netgalley.com and Lake Union Publishing. Thanks to all for the opportunity to read and review.
Last Summer is a twisting, turning story. Ms. Lonsdale is an excellent writer; as proven from the "Everything" series. Definitely add to your TBR, you won't want to miss this one.
5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommended
.
Last Summer has more twists then a tornado going through Oklahoma. The characters have a knack for only sharing half truths. You'll keep guessing about who's biting their tongue. What will happen next.
Thank you to NetGalley, Lake Union Publishing, and Kerry Lonsdale for the advanced reader copy of Last Summer in exchange for my honest opinion.
I'm a fan of Kerry Lonsdale and her Everything We Keep Series so I was excited when I heard about Last Summer.
Ella wakes up in a hospital bed after a car accident and realizes she's been in a car accident and had a miscarriage, but doesn't remember ever being pregnant. She tries to put the pieces together of the months she lost and the altered relationship with her husband, Damien. Ella is a journalist and receives a request to do an exclusive article with Nathan Donovan, a former reality tv personality who is known for his extreme outdoor activities. He pulled the exclusive after their interview last summer. Ella has no memory of him or of doing the interview. Nathan almost refuses when he finds out they will have to start over and that she has no memory of him. The longer Ella spends with him you discover they had some sort of relationship last summer. Ella has to decide who she loves as she continues to put the missing pieces of her life together.
This book was amazing and I did not want to put it down. There were several twists in the plot that kept you engaged and guessing. It was a fantastic book and I highly recommend it.
My review will appear on my bookstagram account https://www.instagram.com/reading.is.my.happy.place/ in July.
This is a book that you don't want to put down. There is quite a bit of mystery riddled throughout the book in what happened Last Summer. I found myself trying to solve the what's and the how's. I was a surprised at the ending and still thinking about it. I found myself not liking the main characters at the end with the decisions they made. Hm.....
I’ve had this book to preview since February and got right into reading it. I,was only able to get to a few chapters done and then life got in the way and I had to set it aside. Going forward to April and I finally got the chance to start reading again and I finished this absolutely, awesome book in two days. This is Kerry Lonsdale’s first stand-alone book since finishing the “Everything” series and Kerry just keeps getting better and better!
This unputtdownable page-tuner had a plot twist that I didn’t expect what resulted and then there was another plot twist and then another! I verbally gasped a few times and exclaimed a few “wows” out loud! Then I came to the end and was hoping there was a next page because I wanted to know what the “double-click” brought next!
I can’t wait to see what Kerry Lonsdale writes for us next! But in the meantime, you have to read this book!
Skillful and satisfying...with many twists and turns. Secrets, lies, manipulation... The author’s tale will appeal to anyone who loves a roller coaster ride. Ella wakes up in a hospital and is told she lost her baby. She does not remember being pregnant. As a journalist, she starts to investigate her mystery. Be ready for the ride! Many thanks to Lake Union Publishing and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
This book is a heck of a page-turner. I really enjoyed it. The premise is fresh - I'd never heard of that kind of memory loss before - but familiar enough for readers of Kerry's other book. I thought the ending with all of its twists was a little confusing. For me, personally, it either needed one more to resolve everything or a few less. I had trouble following how they all fit together to see exactly what the ending was. But I enjoyed every minute of the book.
Last Summer is a book you want to read slowly so it never ends! This story has you feeling so many feels! It will be a good read for the summer!
The anticipation takes you on a roller coaster and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. Simply amazing!!
This was the first book that I have read by Kerry Lonsdale. It was a quick easy read! I look forward to reading more by this author!
If given the chance, would you delete your memories? I loved this book and found it very thought provoking well past the last page. Highly recommend!
This was my first Kerry Lonsdale book and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I can't wait to check out some of her other books.
I was fascinated by the premise -- Ella woke up in the hospital, unable to remember the car accident that got her there and the pregnancy she lost. The story is Ella's quest to figure out what happened to her. Her husband is acting sketchy and her friends are no help.
I don't want to give too much of the plot away -- it has a little romance, a little mystery and some twists and turns. After I finished, I sat - slack-jawed - for several minutes. Big thanks to NetGalley for letting me get a sneak preview!
This was another excellent book by Kerry Lonsdale that I thoroughly enjoyed. I love the characters and always have so many feels throughout the story. This one had amazing twists that I never saw coming and still can't get over!
When Ella wakes in hospital she can't remember the accident that was the cause of her losing her unborn child. Actually she can't remember being pregnant! Her husband Damien is by her side but seems reluctant to answer her questions!
After her recovery she's asked to do an article on Nathan. But it seems Nathan might hold the answers to Ella's memory loss!! Read on....
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this arc.
What a roller coaster ride! Hold on to your hats as you navigate this book.
When the book first started and we find out that Ella has lost all memory of the past 7 months. Damien her husband helps her to move past the accident and the death of their son, or so you think.
Nathan tries to help her to remember him and what the shared.
Good luck unraveling this story. I would REALLY like a sequel! I NEED to know what happens when dhe uncovers the entire truth!
I read this book, synopsis unread, loving all of the works by Kerry Lonsdale. Last Summer was not what I expected.. I found the subject of memory suppression fascinating. While the story had many twists and turns, sub plot on top of sub plot, characters you’ll love and hate, most importantly, the story kept me entertained and turning pages until the very end. The ending was completely unexpected and left me asking for more.
Another great novel by Lonsdale! What would you do if some of your memories were erased? Would you want them back, knowing it might hurt your marriage? This is the dilemma Ella finds herself in when she wakes up in a hospital bed, unsure of how she got there. This story kept me engaged and involved in Ella’s journey to uncover what was lost and make sense of her relationships. It’s a quick but entertaining read perfect for those who are looking for a little mystery, a little romance and a bit of a twist ending.
I was drawn into the novel from the first pages and immediately intrigued to find out what would happen next. The story had a lot of twists and turns, overall an excellent novel. Definitely worth picking up, and very difficult putting it down.
