I thought this book started off pretty good and had a lot of promise. But the writing just didn’t do it for me, sorry. Characters never seemed real and there was way too much telling instead of showing. While I guessed who the bad guy was about halfway through, I thought the authors did a good job of casting doubt and leaving small clues that the bad guy could have been several of the characters. I suppose that’s what’s most important in these type of thriller books.
One thing that really bothered me was that Lila was considered a “bad person” largely in relation to her career. The right to representation is a cornerstone to our democracy, and an attorney has a duty to their clients, even if they are guilty. You could argue that her actions at the end of the book were less moral than those at the beginning of the book, and I think I ended up liking Lila less as the book went on.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book I have read by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke and they keep getting better an better! I like how this book was told from Lila's perspective, in two different accounts of her life. This book definitely kept me guessing and wanting to find out how this was going to end. Reading the description, I was curious how the writers were going to pull it off and I love the way it turned out! I was hooked from the first chapter and read most of the book in one sitting. I will definitely be looking for other works by Fenton and Steinke and I will definitely be recommending them to others! Special thanks to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was a surprising read. It had a perfect blend of drama and suspense mixed with a lot of moral dilemmas. I loved the imperfections of Lola and I really enjoyed watching the story unfold. It was impossible not to love her character.
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for this ARC!

I received an ARC of this book from NetFalley and was super excited. I’ve read and enjoyed 2 of Fenton and Steinke’s precious books and had high expectations for The Two Lila Bennetts. What an unusual and exciting way to write a book! The story of Lila Benner- a highly driven, successful, and ruthless lawyer- told as two different versions dependent on a life-altering decision she makes. Kind of like reading two great psychological thrillers for the price of one!

Thank you, NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book!
This was the first book by Lisa and LIz that I have read, and I am a fan.
From the very beginning of The Two Lila Bennetts I was hooked.
This was a suspenseful novel about a life split in two.
How will your decision affect your life? This book alternated between the two options.
I enjoyed it! If you're looking for a quick, enjoyable read, this one is a good choice!

I've read a few of their other books and really enjoyed them so I was excited to be able to read this one and def think this is the best one yet! Told in 2 alternating story lines this is a story of what if's, redemption, mystery, deception, murder, I could go on. I devoured this book in a few days. I would recommend to anyone.

Wow! The term there is always two sides to every story now as such a different meaning! No spoilers, you must go read this now!
Thank you NetGalley!

This was fantastic!
The writing was so clever! I loved the progression of the story line from the dual perspectives. They way they intertwined was quite brilliant.
Lila was an interesting character. She has done horrible things and she hasn’t felt the shame or weight of their consequences but she will...
Who wants to capture her? I thought it would be one character almost until the end. I was wrong and completely surprised. Love when that happens! I feel that I have interpreted the ending correctly...
This was was such a fun ride. I would highly recommend it and look forward to the next one from these authors!
Thanks to NetGalley, the authors and Lake Union Publishing for a copy in exchange for a review.

"I didn't set out to become a bad friend, a bad wife, but that's who I've become"
Lila Bennett is that bitch we all love to hate. She's attractive, successful and does whatever she wants without thinking about the consequences.
She runs in $400 heels, avoids sugar and carbs and regularly cheats on her husband with her boss. She's a ruthless bitch, but I totally would hire her to defend me if I ever murdered my husband...if I could afford her that is.
The Two Lila Bennetts is about this bitchass defense lawyer, who seems to only defend and win cases for rich guilty men. She makes a lot of money doing it and spends it on expensive shoes (that she keeps scuffing) and her nice house with her formerly best-selling author husband. However, she works so much that she doesn't have time to enjoy her house...or husband and instead is having an affair with her boss...who also happens to be married to her best friend.
Karma comes in the form of her life splitting in two alá Sliding Doors style. In one life she's captured and made to face her reckless life and in the other she is free, but being stalked by someone who is determined to expose her lies one by one.
It took me a while to just used to the back and forth of the chapters, but once I got the flow of it (a third of the way through) I enjoyed the pacing. I will say I was rooting for Lila's tormentors because I found Lila to get as annoying as heck! I did come to understand her and it felt very much like a case of judging someone by a first impression. By the end of the book, I still didn't like Lila, but she earned my respect and I was pleased with the ending.
A little fluffier than I expected, but a quick fun read that felt like a guilty pleasure.

I received book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Holy cow my heart is still racing. This is one of the most creative thrillers I have read in a long time. Lila Bennett is a hot shot attorney and seems to have it all. Until she is kidnapped and her dirty little secrets come back to haunt. Brilliant! Must read!

I am giving my honest opinion(s) on this novel in exchange for an advanced reader's copy. I honestly did not enjoy this one as much as their previous novel, but it was just enough suspenseful to keep me reading until the end. The plot was decent and had a good backstory to it, but I did not particularly care for the main character. I will definitely keep reading more of this famous duo's writing, as they do make a great team.

This book started off with a bang and it kept going and going all the way until the end. The Two Lila Bennett’s was not what I was expecting from Liz and Lisa... it was so much more!
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves books with depth, mystery and tons of questioning of what is actually going on with the characters. I thought I had the book figured out and it was not until the last two chapters that it all began to make sense (in a good way!)
This is a pre-order MUST!!!

The Two Lila Bennetts is an interesting read. I was intrigued by the alternate paths concept, but found that the execution wasn’t varied enough to hold my attention throughout. There is a healthy amount of suspense and the story certainly had me guessing. In the end it was a story I liked but didn’t love. I found myself wishing Lila had more depth and perhaps was a bit more likeable. It wasn’t a story I could put myself in her place or really root for her.

The Two Lila Bennett’s written by Liz Fenton & Lisa Steiner is a well thought out and written novel. It is full of twists and turns. Not to mention there is excellent writing and character development.
This novel is full of suspense and you will be enthralled right up to the final page!
Thank you NetGalley & Lake Union Publishing for the ARC of this terrific read! I truly enjoyed it!

Fast moving read that will keep you on your toes. I loved the Sliding Doors aspect. Lila has made some selfish and bad choices in life. What happens when she has to face the consequences for all those choices. The authors put together another great read with a twist to expose Lila. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for them ARC

Girl Power ! Lisa & Liz are my favorite writing team! The Two Lila Bennetts didn’t disappoint!
The “Sliding Doors” concept was entertaining & thought provoking for sure! Lila was admittedly not the most likable character - which I assume she was written for the reader to feel that way about her! She does redeem herself although it’s a bit too campy for me! I loved the way the reader isn’t sure which path was going to be Lila’s actual future. It’s all tied up neatly with a bow with the ending! The message of how life is a journey and the choices you make are crucial, comes through loud and clear! It defiantly makes you think!
Although this book wasn’t my favorite Lisa & Liz book, overall I did enjoy it- a lot! Looking forward to the next book by this power team!
Keep them coming girls!

The Two Lila Bennetts explores a ruthless criminal defense attorney''s poor decision that causes bad consequences. The novel then diverts into two very different stories, alternating between Lila- Free and Lila - Captured. Suspenseful and keeps you guessing. Who is responsible for holding Lila captive? I sure did t see this one coming!

This book surprised me. I thought I wasn't enjoying it, until I would find myself thinking about it when I wasn't reading it. The premise was a little hard to process, and at times I would forget which Lila I was reading about. I also did not predict one of the major twists, which is always fun. Especially because as soon as it happens, I can't believe I did not guess it. Once I got a hang of the layout of the book, I really enjoyed it.

4.5
One of the main reasons I am rating this book with 4.5 stars is that I think it brings to light something that is so lacking in our society today. It is the idea of choices and consequences. We have so many choices in our life and there are many consequences. Some consequences can be great and wonderful and others bad and painful.
I had not read the summary of this book before starting so it did take me a bit to figure out what was going on. I did not realize that this is a story of the same person "Free" and "captured". It is a story that shows how those choices and consequences impacted one person.
This book definitely kept my attention. There was a time that I thought I had figured out who had captured Lila but I was wrong. I love books that do that to a reader.

“Maybe all we are is a sum of our choices, each one leading us down a different path, each with its own unique outcome. The notion that each decision holds that much power is overwhelming.” What a profound statement! But so, so true!
I have really enjoyed reading books by Liz & Lisa and this one definitely did not disappoint me! I loved the way it was written side by side with two different views of Lila’s life. I also liked how realistic Lila’s character was, how easy it would be for anyone to become what she had. She was human, she made mistakes...the important part is owning up to them and repenting. I guess you will have to read the book to see if that’s the path Lila ultimately took, but I’m sure you’ll enjoy the writing as you do!
These two authors have easily become an instant buy for me. I love their writing and storytelling. I honestly didn’t figure out this twist in this book until it was exposed. Maybe I’m a little slow at that, or maybe Liz & Lisa are just that good! Either way, I highly recommend The Two Lila Bennett’s!
