Oh my goodness, where to begin? I loved this book and would rate it 6* if I could. I guessed some things but the writing was so good it didn't spoil my enjoyment and I certainly didn't anticipate the tension and page turning action.
When Police Investigator Susan Adler is called to a fatal road traffic accident she has to look at it as murder after some disturbing evidence emerges. With a new partner to integrate into her team and Christmas just around the corner her involvement in the case means late nights and taking work home but she is determined to solve it.
The two main characters on both sides of the law were the glue holding together a story which kept my attention from the first line to the last. The fact that the husband of the victim was a psychiatrist added a wealth of fascinating detail and lifted the book to another level. Susan Adler, her team, and her family were brilliantly written and I hope she will return in future books by this excellent author.
I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers in exchange for an unbiased review and would rate it as one of the best books I've read in a long time.
I had very mixed feelings about I Know Everything. Just 10% or so into the book, I thought about quitting because I thought I knew exactly where it was heading and I wasn't interested. I was very, very wrong. This is a very twisty, extremely dark mystery/thriller that starts with a fatal car crash and then spirals into madness. It turned out to be a page-turner, a well-written thrill ride. The conclusion was a bit too contrived for me, but overall, a good read.

Late one night, Amanda Brock’s car goes off the road, in what is initially assumed to be a tragic accident. However, when Inspector Susan Adler and her partner, Tommy, look further, they make the decision that Amanda was murdered before going off the road and that they are now looking at a murder investigation. Of course, the first suspect is her husband, local psychologist Dr. Randall Brock. Randall knows he didn’t kill his wife but the evidence is mounting against him. Until the night he is visited by a stranger in a dark hood named Sam, a stranger who tells him that he knows who killed Amanda and will help him clear his name- if Randall can reveal the secrets he has kept inside for years.
“I Know Everything” is not the first novel by author Matthew Farrell, but I can honestly say that this is the first time I have ever heard his name. A mistake I will NOT make again.
“Everything” starts off hot right from the get go, pulling a reader into the mind of several psychopaths that appear to be involved in a new treatment by Randall and his team. Right off the hop, the “psychological” in “psychological thriller” is evident, and it pulled me in immediately.
None of the characters are what they seem in this novel, and although I was able to actually predict the main twist (any avid readers of psychological thrillers, like myself, will be able to recognize the subtle clues), this did not prevent my enjoyment of the story.
The plot is developed well, the characters are likable yet suspicious and the story has all of the twists and turns that you would expect from a psychological thriller. “I Know Everything” has a few added “psycho” plot additions, which did nothing but increase the entertainment value of this novel.
I have not read a novel in this genre in a long time that has been so twisted, so dysfunctional and so very enjoyable. This novel won’t be for everyone, but it checked every box for me, and I cannot wait for Mr. Farrell’s next work; he has a tough act to follow!
Another novel that I was just so impressed by! Seriously y'all are going to love this one! A definite must read. It will keep you guessing for a while... I want all of you to read this one! You will be hooked and I cannot wait to read more from Matthew Farrell.
Full of twists and turns! I could not stop reading this book fearing that something major was coming on the next page. I was captured early on and this story held my attention througout. High energy and well crafted. You have no idea who to trust as the twists and turns keep coming.
What a fantastic book. Just when you thought you had it figured out it led you in a different direction. Could hard, hardly wait to see what happened. Stayed up late to finish this so highly recommend the purchase of this book. It's been quite awhile since I was able to lose mys
elf in such a great storyline.
I really enjoyed this book. It had me hooked from the beginning and I kept wanting to keep going and read it to see what was going on in the book and just when you thought everything was getting to where you could figure it out another thing would happened in the book and make you start wandering again. Definitely a lot of twists and turns. I started reading this book and couldn’t put it down. I read it at night and it actually got me a little scared a couple times. This is the first time I’ve read anything from this author and I would read his books again. I would recommend this book.
I really enjoyed this book, the characters were well developed. It had an interesting plot. I would be interested in reading more
Dr. Randall works doing research in curing those with psychopathic tendencies, but when his wife is killed under suspicious circumstances he will be dealing with a killer outside of the office. The story takes a twist when a mysterious man appears promising to reveal the killer, but first Randall must face the truths of his past.
Every time you think you know what's happening in this book there's another twist. I love this book for that reason. It's what every thriller should be. I've read so many that I can now usually tell you the ending before I have reached it. This was not the case with this wonderful read.
There's more than just unpredictability to this book. The scenes are well-described and the characters are very well thought out. The author also puts characters thought into italics quite often at the end of the chapter to build suspense. This writing tool really worked.
If you love a good thriller with an ending you never saw coming, this book is for you. While I could guess elements of this book, there was always a twist I never saw coming.
I received this book for free from netgalley in exchange for this honest review.
What an amazing thriller! I loved the character development and stayed up way past my bedtime to find out what was going to happen next. I highly recommend this author.
This is my first book by Matthew Farrell but let me say, it did not disappoint. I Know Everything tells the story of Randall Brock, a renowned psychiatrist who treats patients with disturbing, brutal fantasies. Dr. Brock is happily married to Amanda Brock, an exceptionally wealthy philanthropist. But when Mrs. Brock's car goes careening off a cliff, with evidence of foul play, Dr. Brock is the primary suspect. After a series of evidence is found, seemingly too good to be true, police investigator Susan Adler fights to figure out who really killed Mrs. Brock.
Typically, I am able to figure out the "whodunnit" portion of a book fairly early on. However, I Know Everything had me questioning my own guesses up until the very end!
This is the first boo I’ve ready by Matthew Farrell so I wasn’t too sure what to expect but I wasn’t disappointed! I was hooked straight away, and although I figured out a big part of the twist fairly early on, I still enjoyed reading the book! Will be looking out for more books by Matthew
Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read this book prior to its release in exchange for my honest opinion. 4.5 stars
Wow, what a gripped twisting tale. I can’t lie at first I expect this novel to be cut and dry type of plot. Boy was I wrong! The twists and turns. It made me want to keep reading to find out if my prediction was right or wrong. Who was the murderer, typically I am not wrong and I can see where the story is going. This novel got me a few times changing pace going in a few different directions.
I highly recommend this novel to anyone who loves a good murder investigation with a few plot twists.
I Know Everything definitely kept me awake! How can I sleep when there's so much to process here! What a story. WHAT AN ENDING! 12/10 would recommend!
I recieved this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This book sounded like something I would normally like. For some reason it just didn't click for me. I'm not sure if it was the characters, the back & forth perspective or something else but it was just average.
I must say that I almost gave up on this book in the beginning. It took a while for it to become interesting to me. Not a bad read, just kind of predictable. I finally made it through it and I'm so happy to be finished with it. Highly unlikely that I will read other books by this author.
I loved this! Such a great thriller and had an awesome Alfred Hitchcock feeling to it! I’d never read anything by this author but I look forward to seeing more from him!
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to read this novel in exchange for an honest review.
This book was fantastic. Thrilling, creepy, confusing and scary.
Initially, I wanted to quit this book early, maybe at the first 20 pages. I wasn't into the opening. it didn't grab me, and I couldn't get hooked on any of the characters. After the author presented the mystery to the readers, however, I was all in.
The storyline is intriguing. What is Randall's past? He's hiding something, and his late-wife may have discovered it. Was she killed because of Randall's past, or was it something she did on her own? And who is this new investigator? He came out of nowhere, yes?
I loved the investigators. Susan's a divorce homicide investigator, trying to raise twins and hell all at the same. Tommy is the newbie, just happy to be on this case. They work together well, and I love when Susan tells her new partner that it isn't like the movies. I couldn't wait for them to unravel the mystery together.
All of the psychological aspects in this book really held my attention. This is the plot of some of my favorite movies. Can prior trauma bring out the true evil in a person? Do we ever really bury our pasts? I loved it.
One thing that really bothered me, however, is when Randall wants to unlock Amanda's phone. First, he thinks to himself that it would be convenient if someone would call her phone so that he could just answer the call and unlock the phone. Because nobody calls, he resorts to a ridiculous measure to unlock the phone. Why didn't he just call it himself and then answer it? I'm stunned that the author and the editors overlooked such a detail.

Interesting concept and well written. I didn’t realize this book is piggybacking on the author’s previous book - What Have You Done. It’s not critical that you read the first book though it does come to play in the epilogue. I had to do a bit of sleuthing to figure out the reference and once I did it was an appreciated tidbit.
This book has a nice amount of surprises, twists and red herrings. Some things I saw coming, most I did not. It’s a pretty dark story full of some pretty evil characters. I was pleased with the conclusion (a little crazy but I like crazy). I’ll be curious where the next one takes us.
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Thomas & Mercer for a copy in exchange for a request.
The twists and turns kept me reading well into the night. What appears to be a simple car crash is so much more and keeps the reader guessing. Love the main character’s thorough development and the well thought out mental trials and family commitments. Great read!
