This book did not fail to provide for a great story and wonderful romance between Maddie and Theo. Loved this story like the rest of Jasmine Guillory's books in this series. Cannot wait to read her next novel, Royal Holiday!
Sometimes you need to read a novel that you can relate to but it takes you away for a bit. I love all Guillory’s characters and stories. Wonderful book!
I loved this one! I had been hearing about it from friends and others who have read it, and I couldn't wait to get my hangs on it! It was everything I love in a romance, and so much more. Maddie and Theo are so perfect together, the reader can see it even if it takes them forever to figure out! The friendships within the book are wonderful as well. I love how the characters take care of each other, and the fact that they love The Great British Baking Show! It's all well done, well written, and a quick, satisfying read with a happy ending! I can't wait to read more from Jasmine Guillory!
Cute rom-com, although I jumped in at book three it was easy to follow and fun. Loved the writing style and the wit!
What a fun read! Guillory's quick pace, developed characters and realistic tone make for an engaging read about Maddie and Theo who hate each other...until they don't!
Jasmine Guillory's books are always a fun romp in the romantic comedy genre, and this one was no exception. I didn't think it was as strong as some of her other titles (particularly The Wedding Date, which will always be my favorite). I think the conflict in this particular book was drawn out way longer than it needed to be, and it became a little tedious at times. The hate to love trope is a personal favorite, but there comes a point where they just need to get over it. (#sorrynotsorry)
I appreciate how many cultural observances Guillory includes in her books, and this + her fun characters, witty banter, and overall plots will definitely keep me coming back for more stories from her.
Not my favorite of the three so far, but I am enjoying returning to this world and getting to see their stories connect. It was also nice to see where things were for the other lovebirds.
I think I'm didn't find this couple as likable.
But honestly, it gets the job done and was fun overall!
I love this series! It is so perfect! The characters are fun to read about and the stories are even better.
Maddie and Theo are so perfect together yet so different. They hate each other until a one night stand continues to a wedding. Filled with relationships, friendships, and just all around an enjoyable book. Read it!
Over the past few months I have been working my way through The Wedding Date series by Jasmine Guillory, and I have officially made it to The Wedding Party, which just released this July. Cute contemporaries are my thing at the moment, and I’ve really enjoyed working my way through this series. I was super curious for this last book in the series, and I’m thrilled to have finally read it as well!
As I mentioned above, I am all about cute contemporary reads at the moment. They are some of the only things that get me through all the bad things going on right now, and I appreciate that escape so much, even if it is only for a little while. This series is definitely a lot of fun, even though it does have some serious moments, and they are just the read that I needed at the moment.
I have to say that Theo and Maddie were super cute together. I really enjoy the enemies-to-lovers trope, though it didn’t really feel like they were much of enemies at all as the story went along. Regardless, I enjoyed reading their story, just as much as I enjoyed the previous books in this series. I also really enjoyed the storyline for the book as well, and I enjoyed seeing the characters from the previous books as well! This all made for a very cute read, which was just what I needed at the moment.
I also want to add that while I own print versions of all the books in the series, I opted to listen to them on audiobook instead, and it was really a great decision. Janina Edwards did a great job narrating the stories, and I really enjoyed having her read them to me!
Overall; The Wedding Party was a super cute ending to The Wedding Date series! I really enjoyed following Maddie and Theo over the course of the book, and I think it was a nice conclusion to this really fun series. I will definitely be keeping my eye out for more books by Jasmine Guillory in the future, and I’m so glad that I checked this series out as well!
I had a very hard time connecting with this book. I felt the story was a bit flat, but I really loved the characters. Guillory is an amazing author and I love that Berkley continues to support her. I like this book but did not love. Hopefully lots of readers will love this book!
Thank you so much to the publisher for sending me this to read in exchange for my thoughts!
Another absolutely ADORABLE romance from Jasmine Guillory!! I loved the enemies to lovers and I really enjoyed the previous novels in this series that I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this!
I will say it was a bit of a slow start for me compared to the others which I flew through but towards the middle half it really picked up for me. I liked the banter a lot and I thought Maddie and Theo had great chemistry. I loved the sexual tension and all the hilarious moments between the two!! It such a classic trope of the two being forced to spend more time together because of their friends and Jasmine did a fantastic job putting her own twist on it!
I will say I think the conflict towards the end wrapped a bit quickly and it did a little similar to the other books in the series, but it was still a fun read and I’m very excited for more of her work!! It was also so nice to see characters from the previous novels living their happily ever after!!
I thought that the
Another great book from Jasmine Guillory. I loved the world she’s created and intertwined throughout her books. I love having others pop in this world and still find out what’s going on with them while getting to know more about others. I loved their relationship and found them so sweet, hope to read more about them all soon.
I requested this and read it due to a review by Roxane Gay and was not disappointed. Everything she pointed out in her review was true (I would have been very surprised it if weren't). The premise was fun, the writing could have been stronger but Guillory's voice and characters were charming enough to overlook it. It's a sexy story that grabs you and keep you turning pages!
Although I've enjoyed all the books in the Wedding Date series so far, The Wedding Party was, unfortunately, my least favorite. The hate-to-love premise of this book was so promising, but I was never really convinced that the two main characters hated each other. Their romantic/sexual involvement starts from the very beginning of the book, which made the conflict, when it eventually arises, feel a bit contrived and out-of-the-blue. I did still enjoy reading this book-- I would classify it as an uncomplicated romance that doesn't deliver anything groundbreaking, but is executed well nonetheless. There is nothing "wrong" with The Wedding Party that I can pinpoint; it simply didn't live up to my high expectations considering how much I've loved the previous two installments in this series.
It was nice to visit with characters from the previous books in the series. I enjoyed the antagonist relationship of Maddie and Theo. Less pizza would be ideal. I started having concerns about cholesterol and heart disease. Overall, a fun read.
I love Jasmine Guillory, her books are always so fun and cute, and the characters are always so true to life, and I appreciate that they have their own interests outside the love interest.
THE WEDDING PARTY is the third book in THE WEDDING DATE series, and it was a nice continuation. We originally meet the wedding couple in the first book of the series, THE WEDDING DATE. THE WEDDING PARTY is about the couple reconnecting and getting married, but the story revolves around the couple’s best friends, Theo and Maddie. They can’t stand to be even in the same room together and only do so out of their friendship for the bride…or is their dislike covering up their attraction? What a fun read!
Theo and Maddie are thrown together at his birthday party, and Maddie offers him a ride home. Theo accepts, and things heat up from there. Their friendship has rocky patches, and when things heat up, Maddie sets up a lot of ground rules. One of them is that the bride must never know about them, since whatever they are doing will end at the wedding.
There are a lot of hot steamy moments, but either Theo or Maddie always retreat from growing closer. They talk about things with each other that they don’t share with anyone else and grow closer. When Theo is injured at a work event, Maddie is by his side and cares for him at his home. Until things go very wrong.
As the wedding day approaches and they’re still not speaking to each other, there are quite a few surprises in store for them. I liked Maddie’s relationship with her mom, and Theo’s with his younger brother. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, ROYAL HOLIDAY, which is due out later this year and will once again reunite us with characters we’ve met before.
Ms. Guillory’s books are always enjoyable and good for some chuckles along with some angst. I look forward to reading more of her books. She’s always entertaining.
The Wedding Party was enjoyable but I wasn't as invested in it as Guillory's other titles in the series. It was a bit plodding, the twists were predictable, and while I love the enemies to lovers trope, the dynamic between Maddie and Theo didn't do a lot for me. However, I love Guillory's writing in general and look forward to her next title.
This book was absolutely wonderful. A new and unique tale of a secret relationship, with just as much tasty food as one expects in a Guillory novel.
When Maddie Forest first meets Theo Stephens, she thinks he is an uptight, over-organized, spreadsheet-creating jerk.
When Theo Stephens first meets Maddie Forest, he thinks she is a shallow, image-obsessed prima donna with her head in the clouds and no real ambitions.
After their mutual best friend, Alexa, becomes engaged, she asks them both to be in her wedding party. Initially chagrined that they will have to spend so much time together during the course of the wedding planning and event, they both agree with good grace and vow to get through it.
But as often happens, through their mutual distaste of one another comes a spark that soon grows into a full-blown FLAME!
They know they have to keep their relationship a secret. They cannot give Alexa the satisfaction of knowing they actually like each other and so begins their secret affair.
As you are probably aware, this is the third installment in Jasmine Guillory's The Wedding Date companion novels. I have read all of the books in this series and this one is actually my favorite.
Although it has a similar structure to the previous novels, I enjoyed Maddie and Theo and their hidden romance the most out of all the plots. I felt I could personally relate more to this story than the others and that kept me invested.
One thing I did notice was this one seemed less steamy than the others so if that is what you are looking for, you may be disappointed. We really focused here a lot on both Maddie and Theo's careers and self-growth. I enjoyed following along with them as they navigated difficult situations in their lives and grew to depend on one another for support and insight.
I do enjoy this series a lot. I'll admit that it isn't perfect but it's addicting and it keeps me coming back. I will definitely continue to pick them up for as long as Ms. Guillory chooses to write them!
Thank you so much to the publisher, Berkley Publishing Group, for providing me with a copy of this to read and review.
