I love Liv Constantine and this book is right up there as one of my favorites! Thank you for the early access to this great book. A great thriller I enjoyed. My only regret is leaving it on my TBR list for way too long!!!
The Last Time I Saw You is the first book I have read from this author.
In this book, Dr. Kate English, an heiress to a large fortune, is happily married with a daughter. But tragedy strikes when her mother is brutally murdered. To make matters worse she receives a text - You think you’re sad now, just wait. By the time I’m finished with you, you’ll wish you had been buried today.
With the help of a long lost friend she embarks on a quest to find out what happened. Of course nothing is at is seems. What a thrilling story and well-crafted characters. Great job!
This was definitely a good book but it took me a bit to get into. It was recommended by a friend who truly loved it. I thought it was definitely filled with mystery and intrigue but I rated it lower because of how long it took me to get into the book!
One of my favorite new thriller writers! Not quite as good as the Last Mrs Parrish but super fast paced and twisty. I thought I knew what was going on, but I absolutely did not see what was coming this time (maybe because it was kind of goofy, but still- a surprise is a surprise.)
Dr. Kate English has the perfect life. Heiress to a substantial fortune, handsome husband and beautiful daughter, illustrious career, stunning mansion. All of this makes her the envy of all.
Her idyllic life is shattered the night her mother is found murdered, inside her house. Lost and nowhere to turn, Kate calls upon her best friend, who she hasn't been in contact with for years.
Everything gets even darker when Kate is threatened through a text message, taunting her perfect life.
Will Kate survive this and pick up the pieces of her life? Only time will truly tell.
I could not get into this book! I really wanted to, since I read the last book by this author that was selected by Reese Witherspoon for her book club, but the writing in the first few chapters was really rough and I just couldn't get passed it. Plus, I feel like this is a book I've read before. The domestic thriller market is definitely satured.
Unfortunately, this is a weak read. If operated only on 1/3 of all of the motifs thrown down and using more of the internal logic, this might be a decent book. But the logic is thrown out of the window soon, the motives are appearing more than randomly and the characters are neither believable nor interesting.
When Kate's life is turned upside down, she does not know what and who to believe.
The Last Time I Saw You gives you so many twist and turns.
One of the plot twist I saw coming, the other I did not. Liv Constantine
rarely lets me down, and this did not! It kept me wanting to know what happen next.
I read it in one day!
Having loved The Last Mrs. Parrish, I had high expectations for Liv Constantine's second release - The Last Time I Saw You. While I didn't find it quite as good as The Last Mrs. Parrish, it's still a very enjoyable read.
While I loved Ms Constantine's book, The Last Mrs Parish, unfortunately I did not feel the same way about this one. Burdened with underdeveloped characters, too many suspects and much repetitiveness, I saw a wonderful concept going in a direction that made this book become a chore to read.
It clicked along like scenes from a TV soap opera and left me with a not so great feeling for this latest outing of this author.
Hopefully, Ms Constantine, can pick up the fast paced, energized story writing she so attained in her first book.
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book.
I LOVED The Last Mrs. Parrish and so I was excited to read this new book by Liv Constantine, but unfortunately I found this book to be a slower read than her last. I think some of my difficulty with reading it came with the fact that there were too many characters to keep track of in this book. I enjoyed The Last Mrs. Parrish enough to give LIv Constantine another shot, but hope her next book has the same thrill as her first!
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest review. My thanks to Harper Collins and to Liv Constantine for the opportunity.
This book lost me. I really wanted to like it but it felt clunky and the suspense that should have driven the novel just wasn't there. I couldn't relate to the characters and I wasn't invested enough to keep going. Overall, I wasn't impressed. The story is about characters that can't see beyond themselves and therefore their reflections are shallow. I just didn't get anything out of this book. The story was just predictable and I think my expectations were just too high for this one.
Having loved The Last Mrs. Parrish, I was so looking forward to reading The Last Time I Saw You. I fully expected to love it, to be drawn in as I was to Liv Constantine's first book. Instead, I had to make myself keep reading it. Kate's character was so over-the-top annoying that I found myself almost hoping that the killer would just be done with it already. The ending, with respect to the "whodunnit" aspect, was entirely predictable since, SPOILER ALERT, the one person the emotionally crippled (how *did* she manage medical school and then practicing medicine?) main character didn't suspect of tormenting her was, in fact, the tormentor.
On another, very personal, level, I absolutely hated the repeated cruelty to animals in this book. It felt gratuitous and it took away from the story. I'm sorry to say that if this had been my first Liv Constantine book, it would have been my last. However, given how much I really did enjoy The Last Mrs. Parrish, I will read this author duo's future books in hopes that they return to good, solid suspense writing that relies on story craftsmanship rather than whiny characters and animal cruelty.
Having said all of that, I very much appreciate NetGalley and the publisher providing me with this ARC. I wish that my review could have been a more favorable one.
Right of the bat I was taken in by this one and was really enjoying it. But unfortunately, it didn't take long for it to become a little too cliche and predictable. I still enjoyed it, but it wasn't a riveting read and lacked the twists I was expecting in the beginning.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of The Last Time I Saw You by Liv Constantine.
When Kate's mother Lily is mysteriously murdered, Kate takes that opportunity to reach out to her old BFF Blaire. Kate and Blaire had an ugly falling out at Kate's wedding and hadn't spoken since. So it's a joy to find that Kate still has love for her old friend and anxious to clear the air with her.
But shortly after Lily's death, Kate begins receiving ominous and upsetting threats, revealing intimate information about her life. Is it someone she knows? Had Blaire been right about Kate's husband all along?
Oh my gosh, this was too much. I'd already read one of Constantine's novels to know that the dialogue is super campy and OTT, but this one took the cake. It was just all too obvious, so one dimensional. Not one that I can recommend.
This book is great. There are so many suspects and they all have a reason to torment the protagonist, but which one actually killed her mother? This actually ties up in a bow at the end and it's pretty out there, but that's why we read, right? So that we can be entertained? Because it's fiction. This is actually a bit like the rich people's version of Jerry Springer. And it's sort of awesome because of that. I read a lot in this psychological thriller genre and I would definitely recommend this. It's a really fast read and it's super entertaining.
I received an #ARC from the publisher via #NetGalley for an honest review.
Dr. Kate English appears to be living the perfect life. She comes from a wealthy family, has a successful handsome, and a nearly perfect daughter. And then her mother is murdered. Not only is Kate devastated at the loss of the mother, but she has to deal with the knowledge that somebody wanted her dead. Her best friend, Blaire, from school, shows up to the funeral. Kate puts aside the fact that they had a horrible falling out when Blaire told her to not marry Simon and welcomes the familiarity that is Blaire with open arms. But then weird things start happening and it is clear that whoever harmed Lily is not done yet. Kate is in a race against time to find out who wants to ruin her life and may face some harsh realities about her life in order to track down the culprit. Will she be able to figure it out before it is too late?
I hate to say it, but I was disappointed in The Last Time I Saw You. From very early in the book it was clear that Kate was clearly unhinged. Dangerously so. Her obsessive behavior with Simon and his colleague wasn't the only clue. Her constant accusations about everybody from the nanny to the people hired to protect her got old really quick. And the fact that Simon didn't really fight back was equally annoying. Simon was really the only likable character, but he made it difficult. Why would an innocent man standby and let his wife throw those kinds of accusations around? Blaire seemed to have it all together, but something still seemed off to me about her. There were a few bombshell revelations at the end of the book, but it all seemed like it was the plot of a daytime soap opera, not a carefully crafted psychological thriller. --CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS -- I think I was relieved to get to the end of the book. Not because I was glad to see the big twist, but so that I could move on to something else.
Bottom Line - Liv Constantine made such a big splash among readers last year with their breakout hit, The Last Mrs. Parrish, which set a really high bar for thrillers. Readers who pick up The Last Time I Saw You with those kinds of expectations are going to be sorely disappointed. However, if you lower those expectations about 25% you might just find that you enjoy this book. Let me know what you think.

I loved this book! The Last Mrs. Parrish was one of my very favorite books ever that I constantly recommend to friends and family. This book is almost in that same league. The characters are well developed and there were plenty of people who could have been terrorizing Kate. I will say that I thought Blair was involved from the very beginning so it was a little predictable and then Georgina's character wasn't very developed so I was a little disappointed that she was the "killer". Overall a great book that I would recommend!

Last year I read, and absolutely loved, Liv Constantine's debut novel, The Last Mrs. Parrish. So of course I was excited to get my hands on their sophomore novel, The Last Time I Saw You...and while I liked it, it didn't quite live up to the hype that their debut novel did.
I think I may have set my expectations a little too high for this book. It was good, I just felt it was not quite as great as their previous book. I liked the way the book was set up and felt it had some really good potential, but then it becomes rather repetitive and drags a bit. Was it still an entertaining read, yes...but did I get a little bored at times, most definitely.
I think for me, this book just became a bit too soap opera-ish. I just couldn't get a feel for the characters...and I have nothing wrong with not liking the characters - in fact, I love when I don't. But that wasn't the case here. I'm not exactly sure what it was with them, but it just didn't jive. They just didn't seem to be believable for what was going on. Their actions were a bit over-the-top for the circumstances a bit too often to be realistic.
I thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book. This author was new to me and I was not let down. It was a great story and very well written. The characters were easy to relate to and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend this to everyone!!
