It was a CUTE story. I just love Helena Hunting writing and her books so much!
My rating is 3.5 out of 5 stars
This was a cute, steamy beach read. I loved the dynamic of law school rivals who reconnect years later and fall in love in the midst of some deep heartbreak. I loved the dynamic between the siblings. This was such a fun rom-com if that's your thing!
This read was so fun that I immediately made my roommate read it too so we could gush over it together!!
This was just the first 99 pages of this book and I now have to buy the book.
This is the story of Kailyn and Daxton. They meet in Law School and become frenamies. They are the top two of their class and something happens that puts Dax above Kailyn for graduation. Fastforward 5 years, they are each working as lawyers and who should walk into Kailyn's office? Dax's mom and dad with Dax in tow. Then tragidy strikes and they are back in each others lives again. What will happen next? I have no idea because this is where the preview ends.
From what I have read so far this book is a must read. I am headed to Amazon right now to get the book so I can finish it.
This was an adorable book! Full of wit and sass with an eight year gap starting when Kailyn and Dax are students in Law School and ending when Dax and his parents walk into Kailyn's firm. This is only the beginning of the roller coaster that is this book!
This little preview did exactly what it was designed to do to catch a readers attention get them invested and have them looking forward to the real thing coming soon.
“Meet Cute” (Extended Preview - 4 Chapters)” by Helena Hunting.
Oh my word! What an adorable and charming story. Kailyn and Dax are rather interesting characters.
I can’t wait to read the rest of the book to see what happens!

3 stars.
overall a charming story but a little misleading from the title. the "meet cute" happens in the beginning and leads the reader to become a bit underwhelmed. i was also expecting a light-hearted romance but got thrown into complicated family drama instead.
So I'm really sad this was just a preview because the book shows great promise. I was completely intrigued by the preview but sadly I haven't brought myself to pick up a copy. It's been sitting in my cart for a while. Hopefully I'm able to read the rest this year.
helena hunting is either a hit or miss for me. this is a miss, because cover and title are misleading. It is not a rom-com, but a tragedy. Story dragged too long.
I read this extended preview, and then immediately got the book when it came out. For many years, I avoided the romance genre, but this resurgence of contemporary, cute, quirky romances, I have fallen in love with the genre. An easy read, Meet Cute is working off the popular rom-com trope and the end result is adorable.
Gah it was cute, when you have crush, you can relate better. The betrayal was an interesting twist. Its just so so cute haha
This book has everything. I love the fact that the author does not hold anything back. The feelings, the actions, the thoughts are real. Also, this book shows that bad things happen to good people. I love this preview and can't wait to read the full book.
I need more! This preview had me hooked in minutes. The storyline is something that has been told time-and-time again, but what makes this so great is how relatable the characters are. Kailyn has the same internal thoughts as any girl who nervously crushes on a guy but wants to appear cool, calm, and collected. I love how the story is being told in different perspectives - it really gives the reader a chance to relate to both characters. I can't wait to add this to my permanent shelf and give a full review once I finish reading.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-arc extended preview in exchange for an honest review.
I generally don't like giving negative reviews, but this one disappointed me. In the interest of full disclosure, I didn't finish this extended preview. It really wasn't worth it for me. This had the potential to be really great. For me, it failed. The writing is engaging if not very smooth. It reads a lot more like a draft of a first novel.
[Spoilers ahead]
The first half was funny. I'm not sure how much I like Kailyn. Her obsession over his perceived wrongdoing makes her a lot less likable. She's never tried to find out why he turned in her paper late. I'm going to assume it'll be something revealed later in the book that will explain it all.
Daxon's first chapter had some....issues.
"and let my vagina hang out." is just a super strange comment. A lot of people would say that's how men talk, but it's really not. Especially not in a professional setting.
Killing both of his parents to bring the two protagonists together is not a "meet cute," it's messed up. Also, if both of your parents just died and you're now taking guardianship of your sister, you *really* aren't in a place to start a new relationship.
The one thing I will give her is that the parents dying and his reaction made me cry. The thing is though, even when this book has gotten going and she's describing his reaction to the cops and everything, the writing is still super choppy and doesn't let you get absorbed in the book.
As a person who has lost a parent, using this as a abrupt plot device is really not cool. Love and grief can be part of your story, but it feels like it's just to propel the two characters to be forced to interact and that feels disingenuous which is a major part of why I object.
Overall, not my favorite. The cover and description sound like a fluffy rom-com which sets readers up for a shock and disappointment.
This extended preview was super adorable and had me putting in a request at my local library to read the full thing. While I”m still on the wait list, I cannot wait to what’s in store for Dax and Kaitlyn.
Brilliant, funny, witty..... I loved the chemistry between the characters. And when a book can make you laugh out loud? You know its a winner.
Y’all this is so much more than what the cartoonish cover gives us. It’s a funny, steamy, cute rom com but it also reminds us how family isn’t always blood. Go read this. It’s sweet. Thanks to @helenahunting @netgalley and @hachettebooks for this review copy.
I love the extended preview. It's funny and piques my interest in the rest of the book. I was hooked from the start and didn't want it to end.
***Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
I wanted to like this so much, but I could not get into it and I dnf'd it.
