This was such a delightful novel. Daxton and Kailyn have an incredibly organic relationship that doesn't hiccup or feel hollow despite the prior history that took place before the book properly starts. Their new budding friendship, romantic feelings, and sexual tension develop so naturally that it felt meant to be. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Kailyn and Daxton's younger sister. That aspect of the story really grounded what could have felt like a fangirl fling and nothing more.

Additionally the hint of mystery that surrounded the will and custody rights of Daxton's sister really spiced up the story. I felt like that nicely supplemented the romance storyline and provided what I thought was lacking from their non date related interactions. Spots where it felt like Kailyn and Daxton needed some platonic flirting and banter weren't there and the mystery provided the perfect replacement for that.

I thorougly enjoyed this book! Can't wait to read another Helena Hunting book!!

Kailyn and Daxton are such a good match up. She is the shy but sassy type and Daxton is the smooth sexy thoughtful child/teen star. Kailyn has always had a crush on Daxton from her favorite tv show. She has a embarrassing chance meeting with him that starts off a set of events that will have Daxton not only in her life through law school but years after that as well. These two really bring the story to life. It is a story that you just get lost in. I fell in love with these characters. I am a HUGE fan of anything Helena Hunting writes and these unforgettable books like Meet Cute are why. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a heartwarming love story with all the feels. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc.

This book was such a surprise for me! I have always been weary of this author's books because I normally do not gravitate to steamy romances, but this was such a pleasant surprise!

I received a sample of this book in exchange for an honest review, so I haven't read past the fifth chapter or so, but I honestly can't wait to read the rest!

The female protagonist, Kailyn, is relatable, smart, confident (except when it comes to her fangirl crush), and funny! She and the male protagonist, Daxton, meet in law school and proceed to flirtatiously compete against one another for the top spot in the class. Unbeknownst to Daxton, Kailyn has been following his career her whole life, so when they literally run into each other on campus, she is beside herself with elation. They maintain a friendship throughout grad school, but a terrible betrayal causes them to drift apart. When they meet again, Daxton doesn't even recognize Kailyn who hates him, and a tragedy forces them to cross paths once more.

This is an enemies to lovers trope, which is one of my favorites when it's done well, like in The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. I can't say that this one has accomplished this feat, but I've been having the best time reading this sample and will absolutely purchase the book when it drops on Tuesday!

I expected a cute romance. (I mean, the word “cute” is right in the title.) What I didn’t expect was to be sucked into this book in so few pages and, in that time, to witness heartbreak and grief as well. This is a romance, sure, but it clearly has substance. I’m already invested in these characters and I’ve preordered the book because I need to know what happens next.

I'm so glad I got to read this preview! IThis for some reason didn't seem very "com" for a rom "com". I felt the was a lot of description of the characters feelings. Not a lot of depth. And I guess it just didn't feel like, when Dax and Kailyn Got together, that she was excited...I mean this was supposed to be her long time crush. She should've been more happy/excited....hmm....it just was a bit flat for me. Not exactly what I was expecting!

This book starts off very intriguing in the prologue with the protagonist telling herself while listening to a podcast to visualize success as she starts her first days at law school. She literally runs into a famous actor which she admired as a teen and suddenly begins to act awry of what she planned if she ever met someone of the celebrity profile. It then takes us through alternate narrators of Kailyn and Daxton which start to take shape through the days after law while they are both in their own practice of law. A terrible tragedy has happened and Kailyn is in a position to assist Daxton on a case personal to him. The extended preview ends right when it starts to get more interesting. I can't wait to finish the story in its entirety. So far I am very intrigued and look forward to finishing it.

This was a cute read! Reading the extended preview really made me want to read the entire novel. after finishing this review, I'm headed to Amazon to pre order the full novel.

Daxton and Kailyn have intense chemistry and after years (literally, years!) of banter, they're finally in a position to give it a go!

I'm excited to read more and find out what happens to Daxton and Kailyn!

I though this was a second chance but they never were a couple. So I’m a little confused here.this was a little tease but it was enough for me to not want to try the whole book.

This teaser was so much fun and I can't wait to read the entire book!

Kailyn Flowers has always strived to be the best and she expects to first in her class by the time she finishes law school at UCLA. On her first day she literally runs into Daxton Hughes, her crush for many years when he was on the TV show, It's My LIfe. From then on they end up having a fun, competitive relationship up until the end of law school when he ends up screwing her over.

Flash forward and who should walk into her office, but Dax with his parents...they want to set up a trust for their 13 year old daughter, Emme. Too bad he doesn't recognize her at first and this just pisses her off! Of course his mother quickly recognizes something going on between these two!

Fast forward six months and Dax's life has been completely shattered with the car crash that took both of his parents and left him with custody of his sister. Needing to understand everything involving his sister, Dax contacts Kailyn for help. When their hug goodbye is witnessed by Kailyn's boss, she challenges Kailyn to convince Dax to come work for their law office and in exchange she will make Kailyn a partner...which has been her ultimate dream.

So far I love both of these characters. They have such a fun, sexy chemistry and I cannot wait to read the rest of this story!

This was a great sneak peek for this book. I think I'll enjoy both of the main characters. However, the female MC Kailyn doesn't feel super mature for someone who's supposed to be 30 years old. She still obsessed with a tv show from when she was a teenager (and even drinks from a coffee mug with the tv character's face on it) while trying to become a parter at the law firm she works at. I definitely see the potential and think I will really enjoy reading this book when it comes out on April 9th!

I was only able to read an extended preview but it grabbed me and now I need this book. I need to finish the story. It will be full of tension but entertaining at the same time. Kailyn is holding a grudge towards Daxton and he doesn't even understand why. But things get more difficult for her because she can not escape him or vent her frustration without looking petty either. She has to put the past aside due to a tragedy and be a helping hand for Daxton. I'm sure that what is to come will be a learning process for both of them.

I really enjoy Helena’s writing. The first part of the book has made me very intrigued to read the rest. In Helena’s writing, I do enjoy the two former enemies fall in love trope. They always include a strong female character. I am excited to read the rest!

This small preview definitely got my attention. It reminded me of a romantic comedy and it the beginning was catchy enough to want me to continue reading. One small note though, the protagonist and her best friend did not passed the Bechdel test; in contrast, the male protagonist was discussing other things with his friend, not just women. Of course this may have been because this is a short preview, but it did struck me as a bit odd, considering the woman is the lead.
