Margot, an etiquette coach, is accustomed to teaching her clients how to blend in seamlessly with society. However, she faces a unique challenge when she’s hired to help Bianca, an aging movie star known for her shocking public persona, learn the refined behavior required of a diplomat’s wife. This task demands Margot move into a mansion that was once a monastery, owned by Alec, Bianca’s reclusive and enigmatic son.

As Margot navigates her intense lessons with Bianca, she begins to uncover the hidden layers of Alec’s stony exterior. Drawn to his mysterious depths, Margot wonders if she can break through his guarded nature and earn his trust—while navigating the complicated dynamics of their unusual living arrangement.

This book was very enjoyable. I loved the characters as I usually do with Susan's books. I got pulled into the story and finished this book in the course of a weekend. She has a way of making you feel like you are in the story.
I would definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a fun read.

This is a gorgeous and fun little read about two sisters who also happen to be friends and their summer of love or of trying to find love. This book is so sunshiny and happy and it is a perfect read for a summer day or a warm spring day when you just want to escape.

I read the Summer of Sunshine and Margot for free for NetGalley. It took time to read it, but I enjoyed the twin sister's relationship and how each had had disastrous relationships. Margot is an etiquette specialist who has to get Alec's mother ready to marry a man that will be a diplomat. Sunshine tends to be a nanny who lives her charges behind in a heart beat. This time, she meets Connor, an elementary school boy, and his Dad, Declan a landscape architect. All four have their baggage and even though at times I had to suspend belief that the rich men would date the women. I enjoyed the story and would recommend the book to my patrons.

This is my first Susan Mallery romance. I don't know how this one compares to her others, but this romance was just so flat-- nothing like Talia Hibbert, Jasmine Guillory, or Helena Hoang. The third person POV made the emotions feel distant. I just didn't care if the four protagonists got their HEA. Lastly, it is too neatly tied up too quickly. Like, bing bang boom: all four were paired off. I think it was literally in the last 15 minutes of the audiobook (of 9+ hours total).

I get that Susan Mallery, Jill Shalvis, Debbie Macomber, RayAnne Thayne, etc. are not written for me. They are for the women 15-30 years old than me. And that's okay: every book its reader, but I won't be reading something else in this subgenre of romance of my own choice any time soon.

The Summer of Sunshine and Margot is the story of twin sisters, two men and two complicated romances. Margot is the serious sister and Sunshine the free-spirited one and they both have terrible track records with men. This is an enjoyable beach read.
Thansk to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinions.

Two sisters Sunshine and Margot are enjoying their jobs.
Sunshine is a nanny for a little boy whose mum has died.
Margot has moved in with an ex- film star and her son helping Bianca with the social skills she will need to become an ambassador's wife!
Both sisters know that the relationship with their respective bosses must remain off the cards and yet the chemistry is obvious.
A nice read if somewhat predictable

This contemporary romance follows two sisters, one a nanny with feelings for her boss, and one teaching a Hollywood starlet how to behave more appropriately. Really enjoyed the romances and character arcs.

I honestly didn't love this book as much as I had hoped. I just couldn't vibe with the characters and had a hard time connecting with them. It focused on some sexual themes more than I expected as a major element of the book. It just wasn't what I was expecting.

I have chosen not to read/review this title as I was not able to connect with it or recommend it to the readers of our blog page or those who follow my reviews on Goodreads.

I apologize for the delay in this, as sending the negative reviews is something I (clearly) avoid doing for an embarrassingly long time.

Thank you, as always, for the review title.

Two sisters, Margot and Sunshine, are doing well with their careers (etiquette coach and nanny), but are unlucky in love. As the sisters both start with new clients, they find themselves falling for the new men in their lives. This was a cute light story.

***I received a complimentary copy of this ebook from the publisher through Edelweiss and NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.***

Margot had a good professional life but not much of a personal life. She is thirty one . Margot has a new well off client Alec.Margot is a social equiette coach . The coach is needed for Alec's mother. She has recently become engaged and doesn't want to embarrass her fiance with her boldness. Sunshine is done with love at first sight. She is thirty one years old . There was too many characters.

Sunshine and Margot are twins with very different personalities. Margot is an etiquette coach hired by Alec to teach his outrageous mother Bianca how to behave with the new love of her life, a diplomat who moves in very correct circles, a job that is definitely an uphill challenge! Alec on the other hand is very quiet and reserved....a shell that is very hard to crack. Sunshine is much more frivolous and always cutting and running but when she becomes a nanny to Connor who's mother has recently died from cancer she no longer wants to run especially from Declan, Connor's father.

A lovely story with great characters and lots of fun. I really enjoyed the teaching of Bianca to behave, nothing better than incorrigible older women!

I’ve recommended this many times on my Instagram as it was just such a lovely contemporary romance/romcom. I just adored summer and Margot and the two storylines of their life that we got to live through with them in the book. I found myself rooting for them both to get a happy ending as they were just the sweetest. Contemporary romance fiction at its best here I would say. I definitely recommend it!

This is Susan Mallery’s summer novel, not included in any of her series, but a stand alone novel. I am hoping that this is the first in a series regarding these twins, as they are very entertaining and very fun-loving! I am a HUGE Susan Mallery fan and have read almost everything that she has written over the years. I am so blessed to have received this advanced reader copy.

We begin the book with Margot Baxter, starting her new Journey. She is interviewing for a job with Alec at his house that used to be a monastery. Margot is being interviewed by Alec for his mother, Bianca. We soon find out that Margot is there to teach Alec’s mom how to properly act in society. She has a history of being outspoken and doing shocking things. However, she has recently accepted a proposal from her current boyfriend who is a diplomat. She needs to find out how to fit in in that world, so she has sought out help.
Sunshine, Margot’s fraternal twin is not exactly as polished as Margot. Sunshine is interviewing for a nanny job with Declan and his son, who is very much into bugs. Sunshine has a history of loving and leaving and it comes to slap her in her face when she runs into the mother of twins that she was the nanny of. Sunshine had left so abruptly, and the mother mentions that that the twins ended up in therapy after Sunshine left because of the way that she left. Sunshine is very crafty; she cuts herself and Declan acts right away.

Margot moves into Alec’s monastery and quickly starts exploring. She ends up solving the puzzle of the huge storage area, she pushes some bricks and ends up finding a secret door that ends up having statues on the shelves. Statues that were probably antiques and probably going to turn Alec’s humble life into a circus.

There are so many laughable moments in this book. It is a heartfelt, comedic relief. I cannot wait to read her next book!

The more one-off novels by Susan Mallery that I read, the more I fall in love with her writing. I’m definitely enjoying each one without having to become invested in a lengthy series. Her latest stand alone novel, The Summer of Sunshine and Margot, features 31-year-old fraternal twins Margot and Sunshine, whose bad luck in love has haunted them for all of the dating years. They’ve both sworn off relationships for very different reasons this summer, but both with similar goals: to focus on their careers and better themselves without a man complicating things. The twins are polar opposites in both looks and personalities, but they are thick as thieves since their mother abandoned them when they were young girls, leaving them to be raised by their beauty pageant trainer great-grandmother.

Margot seemingly has everything together on the outside. She’s a professional etiquette coach, and her usual clients are business professionals who need to learn about other cultures and countries where they will be living or doing business. But her latest client is a scandalous older actress who is engaged to a foreign diplomat, and Margot definitely has her work cut out for her as she tries to teach the rebellious Bianca how to act, look, and think to fit into the diplomatic scene. She certainly didn’t expect to live in a remodeled monastery with Bianca and her handsome, smart, and reclusive scholar son Alec. With Bianca proving to be the most difficult client Margot has ever tackled, Alec is an even tougher nut to crack as their attraction grows from afar. Can Alec and Margot let each other in enough for a relationship to bloom?

Sunshine is a bit all over the place compared to her sister. While Margot had one man that flitted in and out of her life, Sunshine would drop everything to be with a guy that showed interest, only to be left with nothing when the relationship quickly fizzled out. It turns out your clients aren’t very appreciate of your disappearing acts when you are a nanny, but recent widower Declan takes a chance on Sunshine when his other picks don’t click with his son. And Sunshine is great with Connor, and Declan is nothing but supportive about Sunshine going back to college while nannying his son. All Sunshine has ever really wanted was a family of her own, and when the little unit she’s formed with Connor and Declan starts to get a bit comfortable, she starts to panic. Could she possibly have it all with Declan and Connor, but how could she when she’s just the nanny and Declan is the boss?

I give The Summer of Sunshine and Margot a 4.5 out of 5. The relationship between Margot and Sunshine was a big part of the book, and I really enjoyed when they were together. They bantered and held nothing back from each other, as sisters who have no other family to depend on should. The cast of characters is pretty intimate in this book, and I loved how tight-knit and sometimes claustrophobic the relationships felt. Susan Mallery’s writing always pulls me in and makes me feel like I’m reading about friends, and I’m invested in the story pretty early on for each relatable character. This is a great, fun, summer read for romance lovers of all ages.
