Susan Mallory is one of my go-to authors. She didn’t disappoint with The Summer of Sunshine and Margot. A very good read that focuses on the relationship between sisters, and how their lives change by new positions at their jobs. I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
A wonderful story of two sisters who feel jinxed by their maternal ancestors but are viewed much differently by people who take the time to really know them. Sunshine is a curvy blond who has been impetuous while her fraternal twin, Margot, is a classic beauty who needs control and rules to feel comfortable around others. As the sisters each enter into new phases career-wise, they find a way to become the women they have longed to be despite the purported curse of their ancestors. Susan Mallery scores again with a novel that reminds us to look beyond the surface, avoid stereotypes, and never give up on ourselves.
I have heard nothing but good things about Susan Mallery's books so I was excited to receive a copy of The Summer of Sunshine and Margot. This was my first book of Mallery's and it did not disappoint. I loved the writing style. Sunshine and Margot were both wonderful characters. One thing I really liked is that the sisters got along; for some reason it always seems like sisters hold animosity toward each other in contemporary romance books and I was happy to see that was not the case here! I loved both heroes, Alec and Declan, as well. I thought they were great characters, and while they were flawed, I found them very likable.
I thought this was a fantastic book and it will make the perfect summer beach read. I will definitely be reading more of Mallery's books!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the free ARC.
Outstanding story of two sisters finding love after giving up on it. Also finding themselves. I loved this book. It was sweet, sentimental and also raw emotions. I was riveted and couldn't put it down.
LOVED it!! Every time I read a Susan Mallery book I think it was my favorite but then she writes another! I know when I start one of her books I either I won’t be getting anything else done. I fell in love with these characters and will take them with me!
This was another wonderful book by Susan Mallery. Fraternal twins Sunshine and Margot are very close, and believe they are doomed by the Baxter family curse of falling for the wrong guy (or guys). The sisters have incredibly different personalities, but they support each other as each tries to change and make decisions about men that are best for them.
Once again, Mallery has introduced us to a cast of very real characters, all of whom suffer from their own hangups and incidents from the past. All of her characters are striving to change their lives in positive ways that help them grow and achieve their dreams. They make mistakes, and acknowledge them. This was a wonderfully uplifting read, which I will recommend to library patrons looking for a positive story with a sweet romance.
