Good book. In previous books, Rhett has been the laid-back, fun-loving bull rider who flits happily from rodeo to rodeo and buckle bunny to buckle bunny. Commitment is not a word in his vocabulary except when it comes to his bid for the bull riding championship. He gets the shock of his life when he finds out that one of his one-night stands resulted in a baby girl who has been abandoned by her mother. He fell hard for little Julie, and though uncertain of his abilities, he was determined to be a good father to her. A potential obstacle to his plans is the baby's foster mother, Tara. Tara is the NICU nurse who cared for Julie while she was in the hospital and became the baby's foster mother. Tara wants to adopt Julie herself and isn't so sure that Rhett is up to the task.

I loved Rhett, even in the earlier books. There was no meanness in his avoidance of commitment - he always made sure the women he was with knew the score. He could have given up his rights and just walked away, but he didn't. My heart melted during the scene when he first held Julie, and you could see her grab his heart in her tiny fingers. I also liked that he wasn't too proud to admit that he needed Tara's help.

I had a little harder time liking Tara, especially at the beginning. She came across as very judgmental of Rhett and his life, even though he wasn't hurting anyone. She seemed far more interested in doing what she could to keep Julie for herself instead of being with her father. I wasn't sure if she was going to help Rhett or try to sabotage him, so I was happy to see her do the right thing. I did ache for her and the reasons she wanted Julie so much.

I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Rhett and Tara. Because of their long history, they knew each other pretty well already. Once they came to grips with Rhett's intention to raise Julie himself, they formed an excellent working relationship. Neither of them expected the attraction that flared between them. When obstacles are placed in Rhett's way during his attempt to gain permanent custody of Julie, Tara proposes a marriage of convenience. This will keep her in Julie's life and allow Rhett to continue to follow his dreams. I had to laugh at the way the marriage of convenience part didn't last past the wedding night. The attraction between them was too strong for a platonic relationship to have a chance at succeeding. I loved seeing them settle into happy family life, though both of them tried to deny the feelings that were growing between them. I ached for them both when their custody of Julie was unexpectedly threatened, and they believed that she was all that held them together. It took being apart for them to realize what their feelings for each other were. I loved Rhett's self-reflection and look at his future without Tara and decide that wasn't what he wanted. I loved the shock of the people around him as he took the only action he could. Tara had already accepted her feelings for Rhett but thought she was doing the right thing by letting him go. I loved seeing her best friend read her the riot act and give Tara the push she needed. Their reunion was awesome, and it was followed by an unexpected and very welcome surprise. The epilogue was great.

I enjoyed most of the secondary characters. It was great to see characters from previous books, especially with the way that the two families have intermarried. I loved Granny, and her stories of the humming heard when you kissed The One. Like her sisters before her, Tara didn't believe until it happened to her. My least favorite character was the judge. I couldn't believe her attitude about Rhett's career of bull riding. Would she do the same to a father who was a cop, soldier, firefighter, etc.? And then her actions regarding Julie's mother made it even worse. Someone needed to bring her into the 21st century.

To Tame a Wild Cowboy is a story about love and commitment, family, bull riding, and most of all change. The tension between Rhett and Tara was palpable, and the love obvious to anyone but them, so it made for an interesting dilemma. Add a preemie, and you've got a great story! Although this is book 7 in the Cupid, TX series, I read it as a standalone and have not read any of the other 6 books in this series. I love the writing and characters and will definitely go back now and read the rest of the series!

Mmmmm cowboy charmers have a little something extra don’t they? This book bought all the feels with a sloooow burn romance and a tiny preemie baby that pulled on my heart strings (I’m a sucker for babies and kids in romance books but this one sucker punched me).
.
Our heroine is a NICU nurse who falls in love with an abandoned preemie baby. She becomes her foster mother and wants to adopt but first the baby’s father needs to be found. And it turns out the father is none other than her brother-in-law who is a bull riding, womanising, care free scoundrel with no roots. However, when he finds out he is a father everything changes.
.
This was a slow burn romance that had me gripping the edges of my ereader with not only a massive buildup of chemistry but also emotional build up- gawd when they finally got together I whooped out loud with a “finally!”. The heroine is grounded in responsibility and caring and a perfect foil for the carefree charming hero. I thoroughly enjoyed this and didn’t want to put it down once I started.

Rhett Lockhart is a skilled bull rider with plenty of swagger. He's always ready for a good time and sees no appeal in anything permanent. Tara Alzate has always been the responsible one and a caretaker by nature. She wants permanent more than anything, specifically to be able to adopt the infant she's fostering.

Loved the characters. Rhett is likable from the beginning, but it's easy to see why folks have doubts about his maturity. Tara is relatable and layered and genuine. They aren't an obvious match, which adds an interesting element to their burgeoning attraction. Also loved the passel of secondary characters - mostly his family and hers - and what they added to the story. They made me wish I could visit the Silver Feather Ranch and meet them all.

Normally, I get impatient if the main couple doesn't seal the deal by at least the halfway point, but despite Rhett and Tara's slow build, there was plenty of sexual tension along the way to keep it interesting. And the wait time worked well for the characters and their story.

Loved the writing, loved the characters, loved the story - loved the book!

Elements of the story line might be a trigger for anyone sensitive to the topics of babies born premature, parental abandonment, custody battles, or adoption.

This is book 7 in the Cupid, Texas series and it features Rhett and Tara. These two grew up on the same ranch. While his father owned it, her parents were ranch foreman and housekeeper. A couple of her sisters are married to a couple of his brothers. I found it so beautiful that Julie would have all these amazing family members to help raise her. Tara was pretty fickle with her feelings towards Rhett. At first there was A LOT of animosity coming from her and just flirting from him but then all of the sudden they were in love. I just felt that there should’ve been more of a transition between those two stages.

This story is about discovering who you are, discovering what’s really important in life, family, love and the humming. Can’t forget the humming!

I had a good feeling about this book from the start, and thought it had real potential, except . . . Well, it just didn’t work for me. Tara, the heroine, was unlikable for much of the first half of the book—her attitude toward Rhett was not of a “strong” woman, but a rude one—and Rhett was arrogant without the charm, immature and frustrating. I can handle disliking one character, but both? I couldn’t overlook it, despite the fact there were parts of this book that appealed to me greatly., such as the preemie-baby storyline that was the heart of To Tame a Wild Cowboy, and several (albeit brief) moments of genuine connection for this makeshift family. I will say that there was *some* character growth, but it was a little too spotty to make much difference to my experience. Admittedly, I skimmed through the end, because I WAS invested enough to care, but sadly, just not the read for me.

(Side note, but important one: this is the seventh book in a series, which I was unaware of when I dived it, however can definitely be read as a standalone. I do wonder if reading the earlier books might have given me some more insight and care for Rhett and Tara, as their families are very much intertwined, so I’d expect they cropped up in the past.)

Lori Wilde does it again with this entry to her series of Cupid TX. This time we have a Cowboy who had played fast and loose ending up fathering a beautiful daughter. Her mother abandons her, NICU nurse takes the baby on as the foster mom and our cowboy has to figure out how to deal with all of this.

Lori Wilde is a pro when it comes to pulling our heartstrings. She did it again with this story.

Lori Wilde's To Tame a Wild Cowboy is an interesting love story. The two main characters, NICU nurse Tara Alzate, and professional bull rider Rhett Lockhart, grew up together on Rhett's family's ranch. Tara's mom was the Lockhart's housekeeper and Tara actually babysat for Rhett way back when. In addition, Tara and Rhett are in-laws.

While on tour, having the best season of his career, Rhett finds out that he is a Daddy to a preemie named Julie. Coincidentally, Tara is Julie's foster mother and is very hopeful that she will be able to adopt her. The rest of the novel goes on to develop a romantic relationship between Tara and Rhett, as the threesome form a family, while worrying about Rhett being granted permanent custody.

I liked this story but there were a few hiccups along the way that prevented me from truly enjoying it. To begin with, Tara is the one that proposes a marriage of convenience, not Rhett as the book blurb states. Tara wants Julie to remain in her life, and she is aware that the court will look favorably upon Rhett if he is married to her. I found it odd that Tara's mother arranged a honeymoon night for both Tara and Rhett after their nuptials, since Tara had shared the terms of their temporary marriage with her. I found the flow of the story to be choppy at times. This is the seventh book in the Cupid, Texas series and it can be read as a standalone.

One minute, Rhett Lockhart is a love ‘em and leave ‘em bull rider with a slow, sexy smile, a swagger, and not a care in the world. The next, he learns his free-wheeling days are over: a baby has been abandoned in the hospital, and there’s no question: he’s the father. But from the first moment he gazes into his daughter’s eyes, he knows the moment has come to say ‘no’ to no-strings. It’s time to grow up. Standing in his way is the baby’s foster mother, Tara Alzate, who doesn’t quite believe Rhett is ready to change his ways. Still, she’s not not immune to his considerable charms. So when he proposes a marriage of convenience and shared custody, against her better judgement, she says “I do.” Can Tara tame this wild cowboy and make her own, long-buried dreams come true?
This was a really good book until about 50% in. I really liked both Tara and Rhett. My heart really bled for Tara and I was rooting for Rhett as he fell in love with his baby. Then about halfway through, when Rhett goes on being Rhett, I felt like Tara did a complete 180 and it really soured me towards her. I know that in her POV, she’s not as strong-willed towards him as his perception of her, but I felt like she just let him run right over her, and yes, I know the author did that to move the plot along, it just really took me out of how much I felt about the story.

Rhett is a Bull Rider who lives for the moment and Tara Alzate is a NICU nurse that lives for being a caregiver - even though these two grew up together being together was never a thought until one tiny little thing brings them together.

To Tame a Wild Cowboy (Cupid, Texas #7) by Lori Wilde .... I hate to put this book down to eat or sleep. Thanks to the publisher and #NetGalley for letting me preview it. The story grabbed me from the first chapter and I had to keep reading... Rhett( the love 'um and leave 'um champion bull rider) Tara ( the NICU nurse who cared for his (no known to him) preemie) He finds out his a dad and that his daughter's foster care mother is Tara from his childhood. The baby's mother left her and took off...both Tara and Rhett want custody ...they both have wounds from the past. I'll tell you no more except I cried happy tears, ugly tears, laughed, suffered angst and enjoyed some steamy sex all to get to a very HEA. Oh yea I can't forget the humming.

Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Witty Romantic Wonderful characters Steamy Happily Ever After Action-packed Great world building Funny Entertaining Page-turner Tear-jerker Easy-to-read

This was a great story that involved lots of side stories and characters. The main characters are Rhett and Tara. Rhett was a free-flowing man-child without a care in the world in his Rodeo lifestyle. He discovers that he has a premie baby girl whose mother has abandoned her. At the hospital Tara, a NICU nurse has temporary custody. When he meets his baby Julie he falls in love with her and discovers that Tara is well known to him. This baby will change both of their lives. I enjoyed the story and would recommend it. Lori Wilde does a good job.

How I managed to make it to the end is a mystery within itself. The blurb drew me in and I expected this to be entertaining than it was but I was left bored with the plot and characters. Let's also mention Tara altitude is off putting and throughout the series, I found it hard to like her despite understanding her feelings in taking full custody of Julie. I'm not sure how Rhett was able to stay in the presence of her but I guess love works in mysterious ways. Overall, okay read and nothing to brag about.

The Lockharts and the Alzates have a long history, with more than one generation of Alzates working on the Lockhart's ranch. The families are friends, their kids grew up together and two Alzate girls have married two of the Lockhart boys, so their lives are intertwined. Rhett Lockhart is a carefree, no-strings rodeo cowboy whose longest commitment is to the eight seconds he spends on the back of a bull. All that changes when he finds out he has a baby daughter who was abandoned at the hospital by her mother. Tara Alzate is the NICU nurse who has spent the last four months nurturing Rhett's baby. She not only became a foster mother for the baby, but she’d love nothing more than to adopt little Julie.

Now, you’d think these two family friends would work together for this sweet little baby, and after a couple bumps, they do find a routine that works. But when the judge threatens Rhett's custody if he doesn’t quit bull riding, the logical next step appears to be for Rhett and Tara to marry. It’s not quite the leap it seems, especially when another threat to custody of Julie arises. And while Rhett and Tara may be an unlikely couple, when Rhett reflects back on pivotal moments in his life, he realizes Tara was a part of them. There's a lot more to Rhett than what’s seen at first glance, and I suspect he’s always been a bit in love with Tara.

I love Cupid, Texas, and I’m wild about Wilde's cowboys! Rhett is exactly the type of cowboy hero that makes for the most delightful reading. All swagger, charm and sexy grins with hidden depths and a heart of gold! He may play fast and loose on the rodeo circuit, but one look into the beautiful eyes of his precious little girl is all it takes for Rhett to commit for a lifetime.

Tara is a little prickly, a bit of a know-it-all (she is four years older than Rhett and used to babysit him, after all) but she has the intelligence, strength and determination we all admire in a heroine. And she will do absolutely anything to see that little Julie is well cared for and thriving. She's just the kind of gal a guy like Rhett needs in his corner, and when worry and doubt crop up, she’s there to encourage and support him. I love these two together. Their journey to forever is touching, steamy, humorous and a little angsty, and if you love cowboy heroes, you’ll adore this story.

The wandering playboy finally becomes a man. To Tame A Wild Cowboy goes from hopelessly immature to coming of age. Lori Wilde shows us the beauty of growing up and the heartache of falling in love. Rhett is in for the surprise of his life times two. One adorable baby girl will change two lives and help two lost hearts finally find their way home. Wilde put the three S's on display. Sexy, sassy and sweet will steal away with any heart.

Rhett and Tara, sounds like a Gone with the Wind fan. I generally really enjoy this author, and had high expectations for this one, but felt like it was a little flat. Rhett is a PBR star, and Tara is a nurse specializing in premature babies. When a little girl is abandoned by her mother at the hospital, Tara becomes a foster parent while 4 different guys are being checked for the father status. Rhett is the lucky winner, and just so happens to be the brother of two of Tara's brother-in-laws. The concept is fine, but had trouble liking either one of the characters too much. Also, to be honest, I really disliked the judge, who was so quick to give the little girl to the deadbeat mother. Enjoyed it enough to read through the end, but would probably not read again. Would give it 3.5 stars and would recommend.

Excellent story! Rhett and Tara make a magical couple. Both are wounded and need each other to heal. The baby Julie becomes their catalyst. The sexual tension and chemistry between them is smoldering. The author grows them deeply emotionally to bring them their full potential. Excellent use of the Native American heritage and its influence on ranching.
