I have a lot of mixed feelings about this book. I real didn’t care for the hero of the story- he started off looking like man-sleaze, but then, someone could say I’m just shaming him for sleeping with a lot of women and that’s his right to do so (listen to me...like this is a real person, ha!). I also did not care for the heroine, the foster mom of his baby. The whole story to me seemed like the characters could appear on the jerry springer show. On the other hand, both characters developed from the beginning into characters I could like. But on a “third hand”, I did not see chemistry between the two until towards the end, which made me not care for a large part of the book if they got together or not. However, by about 3/4 of the way through, I was pulling for them to be together as a family.

I've enjoyed the Lockhart/Alzate series by Lori Wilde. This book focuses on the "wildest" Lockhart, Rhett. The dynamic of the bad boy and the good girl was subtle, but not overly sappy. I really liked Tara, she was firm, but recognized her feelings for Rhett and didn't spend the entire book trying to deny the attraction. There were areas that dragged and an area that was rushed a little too quickly, but overall a great love story.

To Tame a Wild Cowboy
by Lori Wilde

Rhett Lockhart is a bed hopping man-child, who just found out he’s a father to a real live child. Deciding he should at least see the child that his week-end stand Rhona White never told him about and abandoned.

Tara Alzate is fostering the baby she named Julie. The shock of a lifetime, is finding out that the father of Julie is Rhett who she use to babysit for and family ties to. Turns out she is the aunt-in-law to Julie, but that’s not enough she wants to adopt and be the mother to her.

As Rhett does a quick grow-up, Tara schemes up a proposal so they will be able to Julie.

Through the battle between these two are just the beginning, because a bigger battle will come to face them both.

One of the great things about this book is the strong characters and their personalities. Another great thing is the plot and the way they face tragedy and resolve their issues.

This is an amazing Texan romance, and I loved it!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Filled with family, warmth and love.
Tara is a wonderful character, as a sister, daughter, granddaughter and NICU nurse. She takes custody of an abandoned premature little girl with many resulting needs. It's a wonderful story that I enjoyed so much.

Rhett is living the life of a bull rider that is at the top of his game when he finds out he's a father. He never planned to have kids since his dad was a terrible role model but when he meets his baby daughter it's love at first sight. Tara is the ICU nurse who has taken care of his preemie daughter for months and wants to adopt her. The battle begins between Rhett and Tara, who have known each other for years, to figure out what's best for the baby. When the child's birth mother comes back after abandoning the baby at birth, the issue gets even more complex. Well written western romance.

To Tame a Wild Cowboy has it all. A sexy, powerful bull rider named Rhett. An abandoned premie baby named Julie with 4 possible fathers, one of whom is Rhett’s win at all cost competitor. A foster mother, Tara, who was the baby’s NICU nurse & is a person from Rhett’s past. Lori Wilde takes all of these scenarios & crafts them into a well written love story. Rhett has taken advantage of his fame & the women who flocked to him. He’s determined not to get serious about anyone. Until he gets caught. A DNA test proves he’s the father & suddenly he’s on the ride of his life. Tara dislikes Rhett & his attitude but agrees to help him out while he petitions for custody. The more time they spend together, the more they see through each other’s shells & the more the attraction grows. What happens when the baby at the center of this is suddenly yanked away?

Each of the Cupid Texas stories are set in the same area & involve many of the same characters. However each story is designed to be a stand alone following the relationship of one couple. The common backstory & family connections give a depth to each story that is often missing. The familiar settings & characters add character definition & strength. The addition of Julie’s mother & Rhett’s fiercest competitor add a sense of inevitability & mystery. To Tame a Wild Cowboy is an entertaining story to read.

A sweet contemporary western set in Cupid, Texas.
Bull rider Rhett Lockhart receives the shock of his life from his childhood friend and lawyer.
Congratulations...you are the father....to a four month old micro-preemie.
He has to make a choice...claim her or sign away his rights to her foster mom.
Tara Alzate, bay Julie's foster mom and her neonatal nurse loves and wants her desperately.
Surprise! They grew up together on the same ranch.
After he holds Julie, he can't walk away, but can he be a good father, his was no prize.
Tara and Rhett 's relationship and their love for Julie is sweet and heartwarming. And the sexual attraction between is strong and steamy, even as they try to deny it.
This tale of love contains humor, a little steam and realistic family dynamics, and should be a must for anyone who loves to read about uber sexy cowboys.
I requested and received a NetGalley ARC to peruse.

It's been a while since I read a book by Lori Wilde and although I read some of the previous books in the series, it had been a while, so I was a bit hesitant to start the book. Once I got started I was thrilled. The books, although set in Cupid, TX are all standalones about different people in the town.

Rhett and Tara have a history having grown up together. He's rich and his family owns a large spread while her dad was the foreman on the ranch. She babysat Rhett, even though there's only a 4 year age difference but as a 10 year old he was a handful.

As a professional bull rider and single guy he avails himself of all the beauties that follow the sport. Always just a one night stand and never at his place. Tara was engaged and pregnant when her fiance died of a rare form of meningitis and she lost her baby. Medical issues appear to have ended her chance at carrying a baby to term. As a NICU nurse she loves babies and falls in love with one particular cutie whose 21 year old mom abandoned her at the hospital, finding newborn preemie care overwhelming. Tara gets approved and trained as a foster mom and when Rhett is one of 4 men tested to determine fatherhood, the fun begins.,

Their families and background provide fun and lively times as the two families are intertwined and the siblings have grown up together, Everyone, including Tara's grandmother have thoughts about the relationship Tara and Rhett enter into on behalf of the baby. Will he give up being a professional bull rider for the love of a good woman and the baby he's come to love or will Tara move back to El Paso and resume her life after their family is threatened. You'll have to read to find out but I thoroughly enjoyed the give and take between these two and how they come to realize what is most important in life. It can be read as a standalone as I found background information on the other family members was provided throughout the story. I'm sure you'll enjoy this story as much as I did!

I was provided a free ARC eBook from the Publisher and Net Galley in exchange for my honest comments.

Here comes another hit from Lori Wilde. I honestly don't believe Lori could ever write a bad story. I have one problem with this author's book and that is once I start reading I do not want to put them down until I finish and resent interruptions like work and family. Just kidding but to me it is always the sign of a great author when the story grabs me from the start and keeps my interest until the end. I always look forward to books from Lori Wilde. Do yourself a favor and do not miss this one!
