This book ended up not being for me. I couldn't quite get into the story, but the writing was solid and I know so many friends who love it. I just don't think royal romances are my jam. But I will absolutely give the author another shot!

A Prince on Paper is an original take on the royal fake romance trope. The writings smooth with excellent interactions between the characters; I particularly liked their chats. It was a fun read with a great writing style. The characters are interesting and well fleshed out. My one small gripe is getting foreign languages correct, it can be distracting an otherwise very well written book.

Alyssa Cole always delivers a super steamy and wonderfully written romance. I loved seeing all of the storylines from the previous books and novellas intertwine into this series finale. Alyssa Cole creates such a vibrant and realistic world. This book tackles the fake dating/fake engagement trope and I loved seeing this relationship grow. Cole is a star at writing incredible relationships and characters to root for.

FULL REVIEW ON FRESH FICTION
A delightful end to a superb series - A PRINCE ON PAPER is radiant, romantic, and of course, royal! Alyssa Cole's engaging and easy storytelling is front and center in this book, as is her ability to make characters relatable and dynamic, even when they are in crazy situations. Nya and Johan are two characters that have been in each of the Reluctant Royal books, and seeing them finally have their stories told is exciting. Nya, until this point, seemed painfully shy and weak because of her history of illness as a result of her father's dangerous plots. Throughout A PRINCE ON PAPER, Nya fully comes into her own as a strong black woman and realizes she is more than the treachery her father caused, more than the mother she never knew, and more than a presumed simpering wallflower. Johan brings this out in her, and he also allows Nya to see him as he truly is - not the womanizing rich boy, but a kind and sensitive man literally trying to make the world a better place. In addition to their sweet and steamy love story, there are updates on many of the beloved characters from the entire Reluctant Royals series. While this book can be read on its own, it will be a much more fulfilling experience reading all of the books in order. Johan's family in Liechtienbourg is a welcome addition to the cast of characters, and let's be honest, the backdrop of a royal wedding in Thesolo is breathtaking! Highly recommended - required reading for any and all romance fans.

Alyssa Cole is a wonderful author and her books never disappoint. A very steamy romance with some great character development.

I unfortunately have found this series to be increasingly frustrating, but I'll still be looking out for book from Alyssa Cole.

I read very few contemporary romance series, though I read very few romances in general. I find that every few months, I'll sit down with one in an afternoon and enjoy it in a single sitting. This series is great in a lot of ways, and I'd recommend it to any reader looking for a new series to binge. My gripe is that, in this book specifically, the characters are too perfect. Not just for each other, but characters just seem to fit into ANY situation and setting, knowing exactly what to say and how to manage everything. Considering how high the stakes are with modern royal families, it was just a bit too much, even for a romance novel! I'm willing to suspend a lot of disbelief in a variety of genres, but this installment in particular just felt like a little bit too much.

This is my favorite in the series so far. From the beginning when they accidentally ended up in bed together on the flight, I completely loved their chemistry. The love interest was so sweet and fake relationships is my favorite trope. I've already pre-ordered this one.

Let me start by saying that it took me a little bit to really get into this book. But once I really got through all of the parts that kind of made it boring for me. It got really interesting, I tend to really like books with themes like this and it definitely didn’t disappoint.
I did really enjoy myself and even though I’ve never read anything from this author before I’m now looking forward to reading more books by her; i might actually seek her books out.
Thank you Netgalley, i received this book in exchange for my honest review

Another solid installment to this series! Note: I think you definitely need to read the first couple of books before diving into this one, otherwise you’ll be kind of confused about some of the characters/their relationship to one another.

This book was more serious than the previous two, mainly because we got to see behind Johan’s play boy facade, which I really enjoyed. I liked both Nya and Johan together, and it was overall a solid fake engagement trope romance. No complaints here, but at the same time it didn’t blow me away (hence why I’m not giving this 5 stars.

I sincerely regret leaving this book unread for so long. It is a wonderful addition to the Reluctant Royals series, funny and sweet and heart-wrenching. No one writes growth like Alyssa Cole, and this book really shows just how beautifully she turns two individuals into friends and lovers, each person with their own story and emotions.

What a good book.

Nya and Johan will take their fake romance into something they both wanted. They both accepted their crush could be something more and finally getting what they wanted would change everything.

LOVED THE FINAL BOOK OF THIS SERIES. Alyssa Cole takes care to write incredibly strong and vulnerable women. This book tackles important themes of overcoming emotional abuse from loved ones, which resonated very deeply with me.

This was an exciting read. The romance was off the charts. There was so much action and subplots that at times, made it challenging to stay on track with the main protagonists. I am keeping this review short because I don't want to give too much away, but if it tells you anything, I am going out to purchase the other books in the series.

Alyssa Cole's 'Reluctant Royals' series is one of the best contemporary romance series that I've read. Each book and novella tie together so perfectly that readers are able to see what's happened to their favorite characters while still focusing on the new ones. The characters have depth, the story hooks you in immediately, and I find them nearly impossible to put down!

Of all of the books in the series, A Prince on Paper is my favorite. We've seen Nya and Johan in past books and it was so exciting to see their story play out!. Their relationship was so well written and I loved watching Nya find herself and her voice as the book progressed. I really love stories that feature fake relationships that become real so this one was bound to be a success!

Alyssa Cole has definitely become an instant buy author for me after this series.

I've enjoyed many of the books in this series, and I thought this one would be the same, but it fell a little short for me.

At first, I couldn't remember who Nya was, but there were enough hints in the story to jog my memory. Once I could remember her, I wasn't that impressed by her. She felt lacking to me in the character development department, which made her hard to connect with. I also felt like she used the dating sim app as a crutch rather than pursuing an actual relationship with someone. She did have some good ideas though, when it came to the issues the country was embroiled in, so she did redeem things a bit in that manner.

I enjoyed Johan as a character! His one flaw for me was how much of a "little boy lost" he was, in amongst his bad boy persona. Sometimes his actions felt torn between one of the two camps and wound up being disjointed or seemingly out of character.

The story flowed well and was definitely entertaining! I can't wait to see what else the author has in store!

Reading A Prince on Paper by Alyssa Cole is like being wrapped in a warm fuzzy blanket. It’s filled with some of my favorite tropes, demonstrates enthusiastic opt-in consent, and features the heroine’s network of supportive female friends. It was great until I reached the end, which felt too rushed.

You don’t have to read the other Reluctant Royals books before you start A Prince on Paper (this is book three), but they will introduce the supporting cast and set up some context.

When the book opens Nya Jerami is returning to her home country of Thesolo for the royal wedding between her friend Ledi and Prince Thabiso (the couple from the first book, A Princess in Theory). Returning to Thesolo is difficult for Nya; her father is in prison after trying to poison Ledi. In fact, Nya is re-examining her childhood and realizing that her father was manipulative, abusive, and used to make her sick with poison as a means of control. She grew up feeling weak and chronically ill, and so she believed she would always have to depend on him.

Now Nya is free from her father, but she’s still working through her trauma, and she’s a source of gossip back in Thesolo.

Also attending the wedding is Johan von Braustein of Liechtienbourg. Johan is the step-brother to Lukas, heir to the Liechtienbourg throne. Johan is a notorious playboy, a role that he plays for the paparazzi to keep the spotlight off his younger brother. He meets Nya on the way to the wedding and they do some heavy-duty flirting. It’s apparent that there’s an intense attraction between them.
