Thank you to Random House and Danielle Steel for allowing me an ARC of the this book, Lost and Found.
I have loved many Danielle Steel books in the past, and this one seems to be along the same lines as the books that she has written in the last couple of years. The main character, Madison, falls off of a ladder and breaks her leg and in doing so, decides that she needs to live her life and see what might have been, by going on a cross country road trip to reconnect with her previous loves.
Unfortunately, she runs into some issues with the one man who was her true love, and she realizes that her one true love that she always chose first was her job. By the end of the book, the ending is happy and everything comes together in the end, just as you would expect from a Danielle Steel book.
While the book was a good read, and I do love Danielle Steel books, I feel that this tends to be just like her last few books...just a different main character. It seems that all of her characters are very rich and jet off to many countries, and I'm struggling with being able to relate to the main character.
I would give this a 3 out of 5.
Refreshingly entertaining.
I enjoy Danielle Steel books because you know it will be entertaining, you will be able to relate to the main character and the characters are realistic and likeable. Yes, her books are not action packed thrillers. But it is nice to read a sweet story that at the end of the book you can say, I enjoyed that book.
Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine the opportunity to read and give an honest review.

It is so nice to read a story of a successful, vital woman who is at the stage of her life where her kids are grown and she needs to find personal fulfillment beyond motherhood and career. Maddie’s self discovery takes her cross country after she find love letters from the three men she is not quite sure she should have let get away. This book makes you think about your own life choices, your own relationships and the ghosts of your past. Once again Danielle Steel does a good job in giving us an enjoyable, quick read that makes you think and feel. Thanks to NetGalley and Random House/Ballantine for the advance copy.
I enjoy most of this author’s books but after 20 pages of straight narration, no action, no dialogue, I gave up. I couldn’t feel anything for any of the characters although I do think the plot is excellent!
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Lost and Found is a story of reflection and second guessing. Maddie sustains an injury that causes her to revisit and reflect on her past. She has three grown children and works as a photographer. Don't we all ask these questions from time to time? Did I marry the right person? Should I have taken that job? What if I had done this instead of that? Maddie makes a journey of self reflection. While it makes for a good read, there's just no way to know what might have been. Following Maddie will make you reflect on your past as well. It's a bittersweet story of family and choices that's warm hearted and complex. Another good read from Danielle Steel. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Another winner by the GOAT of romance Danielle Steel. First off, I am not sure any mother would be saintly enough not to slap her daughter for trying to put her in an assisted living facility when she’s not even 60, but photographer extraordinare Madison (Maddie) Allen is gracious and kind. Her daughter’s toxicity does cause her to take some stock of her life, so she decides to take some time off with her broken ankle to visit the ghosts of boyfriends past. What she finds on her trip is the brave self she had lost somewhere along the way and maybe another shot at love.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.
Maddie has three very different children, a successful career, and wonderful life and home in New York City. An accident in her home gives her a weekend to reflect and remember, and she kicks off a road trip to give herself the answers that she needs. This is a nice book about relationships -both old and new, family & friends.
Lost and Found finds Maddie Allen on a journey of self discovery after an accident makes her reexamine her life and question her mentality. All here of her children are self absorbed and rarely make time for her. A box from her past steers her to a journey to her future, unbeknownst to her. She looks up old partners while traveling across country and reconnects with all of her children. Addie finds magic at Big Sur, one that will irrevocably change her life. Solid characters and a good story line are what DS delivers
5 stars. I fell in love with Lost and Found. It’s not often that characters touch your heart and stay with you long after the story ends. Maddie’s journey through her past that takes her from NY to CA to Istanbul, was heartbreaking and uplifting all at once. A truly compelling story, that will restore your faith in love and family bonds.
A very good story about family and life. Makes you really think about getting older and evaluating life when children are grown. A little strange to go cross country to meet up and find old flames but it gives a perspective on going backwards to see if the right decisions were made. Definitely touched something in me while reading. I would definitely recommend. Thank you netgalley for letting me give an honest review of this book.
Another great book by Danielle Steel! Maddie has a health scare, fights with her daughter, and takes a cross country trip to find some answers in her life. My favorite quote from the book that sums it all up: “It was nice to discover that at any age you could have hope, and new faces entered the story to give fresh meaning to life.” Thanks for another great read!
(Will review on Amazon and Goodreads once the book is published.)
Another lovely warm Danielle Steele novel.I loved getting to know Maddie a single mother whose children are now grown a look back at life and what might of been the path that leads to love again, Will be recommending to my book club so much to discuss to relate to.#netgalley #randomhouseballentine.
LOST AND FOUND by DANIELLE STEEL is a fascinating story of one woman's journey. A journey that leads her to love. A single mother who works hard to provide for her three unique children. Now grown up with families of their own, they lead very different busy lives. Maddie works as a photographer and sees very little of her family. An accident occurs and Maddie is injured. Maddie then begins to reevaluate her life and come to terms with her past. It's a wonderful story and Danielle Steel is an amazing storyteller! A five 🌟 review for sure!
Working in the library allows me to read a lot of books. My last book by Danielle Steel was read in year 2000. Since that time I have seen a lot of them passing through my hands not read but admired by my patrons.
Until today, an idea came to my mind. Why dont I try one of her books and are if her writing has changed, her plots have changed, etc.
After reading "Lost and Found" I must say that the author seems the same with her style or writing and plots.
It was enjoyable reading, but because it was very similar to the books I read before (and stopped) I found it good, yet too light for my liking.
Plain romantic storylines don't interest me anymore. This sounded as such.
Danielle Steel is a great author, she is a queen of modern romance, the only one thing for me that I would say is no no... Is the fact that her books are too repetitive and predictable. Even after 19 years break of not reading her novels I still feel the same.
Nothing like a good Danielle Steel to make any weekend better! I loved Maddie and the journey of self-reflection/introspection she took. Who wouldn't like to do the same? To revisit the road not traveled and see who we were and who we've become, in hopes of changing as well? This was a wonderful read and I'll be recommending it to our book club. There were lots of great talking points and as always, Steel did not disappoint.
Another great story by Danielle Steel. The characters are an interesting mix, that keep you turning the pages. I will definitely recommend
this to my library patrons.
