I love bullet journalling and have always had a reading journal but this year decided to start a Bible Journal and remembered I had this on my shelf.

It was interesting and the art amazing.

This is a lovely book with detailed instruction on making your bible unique by expressing creativity through writing and illustrating its pages in a way that accentuates the meaning behind the text. Reading "Bible Journaling for the Fine Artist" is like taking an art class, and its authors are wonderful teachers!

This was an inspirational book on bible journaling. I love bible journaling but struggle with creative ideas to fill the pages. This book gave some simple short cuts for those that don’t have a lot of confidence in their drawing skills. The authors gave some simple step by step instructions to draw a bird, flower, building and a cake.

Melissa and Kate provided many examples for drawings for specific bible verse. I am not sure I would want to use acrylic paint in my bible, but the authors showed creative techniques using black acrylic paint to give a chalkboard look.

If you like this book you would also enjoy Bible Journaling Made Simple: An Art-Filled Journey for Creative Worship by Sandy Allnock.

I received this galley from NetGalley.

I believe I've read and reviewed three or four books about Bible Art Journaling at this point. I was drawn into Bible Journaling for the Fine Artist because of the "fine artist" part. The illustrations included in this book from the two authors, Melissa Fischer and Kate Peiffer, were indeed fine. Yet the tutorials included seemed fairly basic to me. That's ideal for teaching a concept to students who may not be familiar with it that can be applied in a more complex way in the future.

In terms of the supplies, techniques, and general information included in Bible Journaling for the Fine Artist, I didn't find anything new to me. Granted, I've watched hours of YouTube videos and read a few books on the subject already.

The best thing I felt like Bible Journaling for the Fine Artist had going for it was the art included. But even then, I felt like I'd seen quite a number of the pages on Pinterest already. So even that didn't feel completely new or unique.

Bible Journaling for the Fine Artist is fine if this is the only book you get on the subject or if you're new to the concept of Bible Art Journaling. But I didn't feel it brought anything new or unique to the table. Bible Journaling for the Fine Artist gets 3.5 Stars. Have you read Bible Journaling for the Fine Artist? What did you think? Let me know!

Renewed responses!
Bible journaling is an interesting and rewarding way to further explore and relate to scripture. This addition to the milieu is a pleasing contribution to the ever growing practice of a different in-depth and personal faith reflection.
I received an ARC from Walter Foster Publishing via NetGalley.

Bible Journaling for the Fine Artist is absolutely a must for anyone wanting to dive into Bible journaling. Melissa and Kate have gone through all the steps needed to help you get started and share some beautiful inspiriation. These ladies are downright talented. I learned a lot of new things. Like I have never heard of a china marker and I've been doing watercolor for a couple of years now. What I really loved was the section on going beyond the Bible and doing other forms of Christian art. I love that!

What a fantastic Bible Journaling book. I love Bible Journaling, Scrapbooking and Card Making and this book could be used for all 3 hobbies. It really is a book that provides several different projects with easy step by step instructions. Once I started going through this book I realized I had so many of their pages pinned on Pinterest and can't wait to try to recreate their beautiful work. The artwork in this book is fantastic and so many great ideas to express God's beautiful scripture and creation. I loved the Stained Glass Bible Art section and all the examples of flowers that they provided. I think I'm going to have to order a physical copy of this book to open up and reference for some of these pages. I love studying God's Word and Bible Journaling helps me to remember scripture and the creative process. I love that while I'm creating a page in my Bible, I can reflect on the scripture and think of how I am going to apply it to my life. Thank you for a fantastic book to enhance my Bible Journaling and provide me with lots of fun ideas. This is a wonderful book for the new to Bible Journaling people or those that have been Bible Journaling for years!

The other fun part is on the last page there is a section about the artists. Melissa Fischer lives in Memphis which is where I currently live and Kate Peiffer lives in Columbia, Missouri which is where we lived for 10 years. Just another fun way to connect with these wonderful artists.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to review this wonderful book.

I received a complementary advance copy from Netgalley in turn for an honest review!

Here is my honest review:
What a beautiful book! I've been Bible Journaling for a while and even I learned a lot from this book. The illustrations are fantastic, the explanations easy to understand, and the fonts are perfect for this kind of book. I like how the authors use a brief summary in the beginning and then repeat and add to each aspect later on in the book. That is like repetition, but with added information for memorizing.

There is an error on p. 56. A word is missing in Step 4 of the project.

I love how the authors break down the projects into easy-to-follow steps. When you first see the project, you think "Oh my, I will never be able to draw something like that!" but then you see the step-by-step instructions and realize that it is absolutely doable.

My favorite project were: Creating drama with watercolor adding journaling to the first page of Genesis and Stippling (using dots to create texture).

While the target group for this book are people who journal in their Bible, I believe that these techniques work great for other arts projects such as art journals, traveler's notebooks, junk journals, etc.
The authors emphasize a fact that it is very important to remember when Bible journaling: It is not about perfection, about the technique, or even the concept of a page...it is about our time with God! Our God is a creative God and loves it when we spent time in His word. We don't have to be Picassos or Monets.

Even if the book is christian faith oriented, the book can used by any artist interested in doodling and lettering with a meaningful message. The tutorials are well explained and the techniques used are helpful to archive professional results.

This is quite possibly my favourite Bible Journaling book I've come across since I discovered it was an actual art form. It's a carefully crafted book that gives anyone and everyone a starting guide for journaling. It considers the equipment you'll need and is mindful of the paper that is used within a Bible.
Not only does it give ideas of how images and colour can draw emphasis to scripture, it provides key skills that people can use on other forms of art.
