This book has some nice recipes for people who eat grains. We eat a low carb gluten free diet and while I appreciate that a few of the recipes allowed almond flour as a substitution there were too many recipes with a reliance on wheat flours. The seafood section did have some nice low carb options, but for the most part this book wouldn't work for our family.
As a busy working mother of two that also wants to eat healthfully I really appreciated this cookbook. The introduction has very useful tips on how to eat clean everyday - even with picky eaters! I loved the "10 tips for Dealing with Picky Eaters" and the weekly, monthly and quarterly shopping lists are extremely useful. With delicious sounding recipes like "Turkey & Oat Meatballs with Tomato & Carrot Marinara Sauce", 'Pecan-Crusted Chicken Tenders with Yogurt Dill Dip" and "5-Ingredient Pantry Baked Chicken Thighs with Apple Cider Vinegar" you're sure to find a quick, easy, kid-friendly meal that's packed with nutrients. I especially appreciated the notes for how to switch up the recipes with substitutes, cooking tips and advice on clean eating.
Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group – Fair Winds Press for allowing me to view an advance copy of this cookbook. All opinions are my own.
This is a beautifully done cookbook with clear instructions for meal prep. Many of the meals would appeal to our young children. The mini meatloaf and the sloppy joes would be the first I would put in rotation. I was happy to see a wide variety of entrees that included different cuisine, different meat source and meat free choices, and a selection of side dishes to accompany the main courses. If I had any criticism, I do wish each recipe included its own finished picture.
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I enjoyed a fair few of these recipes, some of the vegetarian dishes were delicious, the black bean burgers for example. I liked the clean eating ethos and the tips at the beginning of the book such as eating seasonal vegetables. It is the kind of thing more of us need to be bringing our children up with.
As a full time working mum to two young pre-teens I was delighted to have been gifted an e-arc of Clean Eating for Busy Families. This is a fantastic cook book. There are so many ideas, so many tips and helpful hints throughout the entire book that it really suits both the novice cook to gain more confidence in the kitchen and also the more experienced mums find a really great range of different things to cook for dinner that the whole family will love. Definitely a 5/5 from me.

i enjoyed reading this book. The instructions were easy to follow and I felt like they were on my cooking level. Personally, I would only make a few, but i enjoyed leaning how to eat more clean. My only issue with the book is that it only had a handful of photos; i like to see finished works o know what i aiming for.
"The clean concept boils down to eating whole, minimally processed foods made with natural ingredients that are good for your body and good for the planet".
While the squeaky clean eater might find the odd item to quibble over, tortilla chips perhaps (albeit the author recommends wholegrain etc), it ought to satisfy most. There are also plenty of useful tips towards clean and green eating.
First published in 2012, this is a revised and updated edition with further streamlining of recipes to suit the busy cook, as the author has gained a second daughter.
I cook for kids just once a week but I recognise the value of the hints and tips e.g. veg first.
The recipes are straightforward and flavourful. Some may baulk at the length of some of the ingredients lists, and look to streamline them further, but to me they seem to strike a pragmatic balance between speed and ease and flavour.
The book is American but includes measurements in grammes. It is necessary to translate some ingredient names though.
Presentation and photography are good, though not every single dish is photographed. Nutritional information is included.
Recommended, particularly to those aiming to eat cleaner, or looking for further good ideas for family meals.
