This was an exciting triller that I will not soon forget. Had some difficulty falling asleep having read it. The writer depicts some super stressful situations that have a significant impact on the lives of the characters. I highly recommend this amazing book.

From the first few chapters, I knew I was going to be pulled into this story. I was right, I was captivated immediately. While this book is the fourth book by the author with the same character, it can be read as a standalone book. There were no needless side stories or confusing references to what happened in prior books. The happenings in prior books that were referenced were succinct. This book kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through being almost finished. Definitely adding this book to my favorites list and will be recommending it!

Thirteen was my first time to read any of Steve Cavanaugh's Eddie Flynn novels and I plan to read the backlist and the next in the series as soon as it comes out.
I'm an avid reader of mysteries, detective novels and legal thrillers. Thirteen's Eddie Flynn is a lead character/lawyer that draws you in and gets you emotionally invested in his success. He is smart, savvy in law and crime but has a very clear personal code. He refuses to represent guilty clients - he is a defense lawyer who is committed to using his time to free the innocent. It is not as though he only represents the indigent but he does limit his clients to the unjustly accused. And he uses his substantial and varied talents to find ways to poke holes in the prosecution's case and he is particularly adept at finding out when police or investigators have cut corners or tried to present tainted or false evidence.
In Thirteen, he faces a brilliant and cold blooded murderer who takes an unexpected and unorthodox approach to his crimes. The antagonist is always so many steps ahead, skilled and with a strange and unlikely talent. Though the crimes are chilling, Cavanaugh spares us excessively gory details. It has just the right amount of tension, uncertainty and action. I stayed up all night reading it and have just ordered his 2 earlier books!

Bobby Solomon is an actor accused of murdering his actress wife and his bodyguard. We see Bobby go to court with Eddie as his lawyer but as the story unfolds could there be an actual serial killer on the jury?
Thirteen is a brilliant legal thriller, with a touch of sinister, dark and disturbing. The characters are so real and the plot intense.
This is #4 in the Eddie Flynn series (cleverly written and likeable character) and my first read of the series so I can confirm that it’s easily read as a standalone.
So many fascinating elements to this story, it would make for a great movie.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Flatiron for my ARC in exchange for an honest review

Oh my goodness this book is so intense there’s not one page left without a twist or action. Standing ovation for author Steve Cavanagh to come up with all these ideas how to surprise a reader. I didn’t want this book to end.
Two POV‘s, one is an attorney Eddie Flynn and second is a serial killer Joshua Kane. Trial murder is about to start for a famous actor Bobby Solomon and Kane is one of the jurors. Unbelievable courtroom drama and investigation the same time.
Thank you to Net Galley and publisher for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thirteen by Steve Cavanagh is that suspenseful, thriller with multiple twists and an ending that I didn't see coming! Very good book. Highly recommended.
Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

This book was a 5 star rating for me. I absolutely loved this book....one of my favourite courtroom thrillers. An absolte must read ☺ Steve Cavanagh fills it with suspense and intrigue....and that twist?!

Thanks to Netgalley; I received this as an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Some time ago I read Eddie Flynn #1, and I liked it, but not very much because I couldn't seem to really care about Flynn. What a difference now! The author has made Flynn more than just likable. He is easy to root for, and I was really rooting for him! This was the best legal thriller I've read in a long time. The plot was a bit complicated but very well executed. The chapters alternated between Flynn (in first person) and the bad guy (in 3rd person as "Kane"), and it was easy to follow and know who was telling the story. I'm a civil trial attorney but I love reading the legal thrillers that are in the criminal arena. The courtroom scenes here (and there are plenty!) are spot-on and I can just see the players in my mind as the trial progresses. It was loads of fun, but also pretty tense at times. There was a bit of a surprise twist at the end....the bad guy wasn't the guy I imagined him to be after all. I absolutely loved it. This was #4 in the series, but it didn't seem to matter that I had not read #2 or #3. It was full and complete just as is, and I really appreciate that the ending wrapped everything up. I absolutely hate cliffhangers; there's NO cliffhanger here. This author obviously respects his readers. Highly recommended for lovers of thrillers and especially legal thrillers.

I enjoyed this fast-paced legal thriller more than anticipated. I didn't know that it was the fourth in a series when I picked it up, but I had no problem reading the book as an independent story. The premise has a great hook, which didn't disappoint in execution (so long as one is prepared to suspend a healthy amount of disbelief). It was well-written, and the characters held my interest on the winding road to and through trial. As a lawyer, I was impressed with the accuracy with which Cavanagh generally portrayed the criminal justice system. There were a few moments where I thought to myself, "That definitely would never happen." These moments mostly dealt with aspects of the American legal system that differ from other places. I wasn't surprised to find that Cavanagh is a UK-educated lawyer, for that reason. But on the whole I thought he did a remarkable job writing about New York and American lawyers, and generally kept me guessing on the next plot twist. A great read while traveling. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance reader copy.

I had no clue this was a part of a series and 4th! I will say that if you haven’t read the first four you won’t be lost because this can be read as a stand-alone without any confusion! This is a dark and intense thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat.

Thirteen by Steve Cavanagh is a fast paced crime novel about a serial killer that twists and turns its way through the story. The main character Eddie Flynn fights the whole way through the book for justice for the victim of a horrible crime and also for the man framed for the crime.
This was a thrilling book which I could not put down. It was dark and intense and I loved every minute of it.
This book is a must read for all crime fans, especially those who love a good underdog story!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC and the chance to review this novel.

Thirteen, Steve Canavagh’s fourth installment in the Eddie Flynn series, is an edge of your seat legal thriller. The tale is in the same vein as the classic Grisham courtroom dramas but with a darker, grittier edge and the tense, high octane pace of a thriller. Tautly plotted and filled with clever twists, Thirteen starts out with a tremendous hook and does not cease reeling you in until the last pages.
Eddie Flynn is a sympathetic protagonist with a checkered past and a family life in shambles. A con man turned defense lawyer, he has a surprisingly strong sense of justice. When he is brought in on a high profile murder case that seems impossible to win, Eddie finds himself in a race against the unfolding trial to prove his movie star client’s innocence. A dollar bill with unique markings is found stuffed inside the mouth of one of the murder victims, leading Eddie down a dark path toward discovering a brilliant serial killer. A serial killer who knows the fallacy of the American dream; a serial killer who is a phantom even to the FBI; a serial killer staring back at him from the jury box.
The author provides just enough detail about the inner-workings of the courtroom to feel authentic without resorting to an info dump. Cavanagh is a skilled, talented storyteller who weaves a seamless, intricate plot. His expertise in law is evident on the pages, and his insight into the duplicity in law enforcement and the judicial system is noteworthy. The writing style is engaging and straightforward: crisp with sly humour and heart in Eddie’s perspective, disquieting and eery when inhabiting the peculiar, psychopathic mind of the notorious Joshua Kane. The dual perspective makes for a baited-breath read, and the surprising twists are perfectly orchestrated and immensely satisfying.
This is a brilliant read, dark, swiftly-paced, and expertly told. With a highly original plot, a relatable protagonist, and an antagonist who will have you glancing over your shoulder, Thirteen is a winner.
Highly recommended for fans of Grisham-like legal dramas with a darker, grittier thriller edge
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review

I haven't read a thriller in so long and I was hesitant in picking this one but the synopsis and the cover sold me and I decided to start it and I'm happy I did.
I read it so quickly and it kept me on my phone ,I wanted to know what would happened at all cost, wow what a book .
4 .5/5 stars

The entire book is action packed from start to finish with some clever plot twists and turns all culminating in a pulse pounding conclusion.
When I picked this book up I didn’t realise it was the fourth book in a series however it still made a brilliantly clever standalone novel. I will be going back and reading the other three in the series now though.
A Hollywood star, Robert Solomon is on trial for the murder of his wife and his security office and Eddie Flynn is brought in as part of Bobby’s defence team. But not all as it seems!
With one of the best serial killers I have ever come across in this huge genre of fiction and one of the most memorable protagonists I have come across in a long time, this is a book that you won’t ever forget!
The book description draws you in straight away and from page one it is one of those books that will guarantee to cause you sleep deprivation! I lost a whole nights sleep reading this book and this is the second time I have lost a nights sleep to Steve Cavanagh’s novels!
This is definitely a book I will be recommending to anyone and everyone!
A huge thank you to the author Steve Cavanagh, publishers Flatiron Books and NetGalley for my digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest and independent review.

Part Michael Connelly, part James Patterson. A heart racing novel of a serial killer and the lawyer who must find him to rescue a client charged with a murder and faced with incontrovertible evidence he is guilty. Fast paced, well constructed, an abundant supply of surprise revelations and an ending you won’t see coming. A really great read!

Joshua Kane is an evil man.
You might even call him an evil genius. That is, if you think committing the perfect murder is genius. Who else would get his kicks by murdering people in order to get his real target convicted of murder?
Eddie Flynn, the ex con-man now criminal defense attorney hired to defend Kane’s victim, uses his guiles and a few talented associates to find clues overlooked by the police. Racing against time as the trial speeds toward closing remarks, the pieces begin to fall into place. But will they get the answers they need in time?
There is a lot to like about this book, not the least of which is the surprise ending that defies the reader’s ability to predict. I have not read the other books in the series, but I plan to do so now.
Thank you, NetGalley, for an advance copy Thirteen for my honest review.

First, this is the third book in a series, however, it stands alone well.
Joshua Kane is a serial killer. Parts of the novel are told from his point of view, and let's just say, it's not a pleasant one. You're sure, right away, that this man isn't your run-of-the-mill killer. He's highly intelligent, and appears to be three or four steps ahead of law enforcement at all times. We are shown, from the beginning, that Kane is the killer of the two victims being discussed in this novel, however, one of the victim's spouse is going on trial for the murders.
Kane has a vested interest in making sure the husband is convicted. He plans an elaborate scheme and finds himself as one of the jurors.
Eddie Flynn is a con-man turned lawyer. He only takes clients that he is sure are innocent. He's approached by a large law firm to aid in the defense of the husband, and grudgingly accepts the position.
From there, it's a whirlwind, roller coaster ride of evidence, jury tampering, and murder.
Thirteen has a very different premise than most murder mysteries out there. This novel was well-written, the story not the typical "whodunnit", and the author does a fantastic job setting the readers up for surprises.
I highly recommend this novel to anyone who is a fan of Lee Childs, or anyone who enjoys a twist.

It’s the murder trial of the century. And Joshua Kane has killed to get the best seat in the house – and to be sure the wrong man goes down for the crime. Because this time, the killer isn’t on trial. He’s on the jury.
But there’s someone on his tail. Former-conman-turned-criminal-defense-attorney Eddie Flynn doesn’t believe that his movie-star client killed two people. He suspects that the real killer is closer than they think – but who would guess just how close?
I teetered between 3 and 4 stars for this and decided on 4 stars. It was a fun, wild read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I did feel the reader has to suspend reality a little too much, it was a good book.
The story is told between 2 prospectives; Eddie Flynn in first person and Joshua Kane in third person. The changes are seamless and don't affect the flow. Overall Eddie Flynn is a character you root for in his defense of Bobby Solomon, but Kane is a somewhat unbelievable character.
I received an advance copy of Thirteen from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Yikes, what a ride! THIRTEEN grabs the reader by the throat and doesn't let go until the last page. Highly imaginative plot and good characters. As a trial lawyer, I could spot some inaccuracies in the trial and jury selection but it did not detract from the story. This was my first Eddie Flynn book but I now I will seek out the two earlier books and read them as well.

I love a Thriller that keeps me guessing. Unfortunately, those books are almost as rare as unicorns. THIRTEEN is that unicorn.
Reviewers often write: "This book kept me guessing until the very end." I believe that phrase is overused. However, THIRTEEN actually did keep me guessing until the final page. This book is full of twists and turns that readers WILL NOT see coming.
THIRTEEN is Fan-freaking-tastic fiction.
Author Steve Cavanagh has created a work of art with this thriller and because of this book, I forseeable that he will take a well-earned place at the top of many BestSeller lists of 2019.
If you love psychological thrillers, this book is an absolute MUST READ. If you do not buy this book, I believe you will be sorry, especially once it becomes well known and widely available.
THIRTEEN is due to be released on August 13th, 2019 and you need to put that date on your calendar so as not to miss out.
I do not want to write any specifics that might reveal any part of the story because I would hate to ruin it for anyone. Just trust me when I say that it is phenomenal - a truly fantastic tale that once you start, you will not be able to put it down.
I rate THIRTEEN by Steve Cavanagh as 5+ OUT OF 5 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ and I will be watching for anything else he writes from this day forward.
