Druze ends up back in Ft Lauderdale after her mother dies. Her job at her father’s law firm is boring until she gets embroiled in two mysteries. ARC from NetGalley.

I look f0rward to the newest Mary Kay Andrews book every spring. Usually set in South Carolina, MKA writes chick lit with an inspiring heroine. Many of her book characters are of a particular age which is refreshing.

Well, this is a true beach read! And I say that as a compliment. I generally do not like beach reads, because I do not like fluffy, silly books this genre is often represented with. This one is genuine FUN. OK, I needed to suspend my disbelief on how great a detective Drue Campbell, the main heroine, was and how she had solved mystery the police was not able to solve (partly because she was not a part of police, OK, thus people spoke to her more freely; but I do not think that the police is so incompetent). But otherwise, the novel was funny, engaging and charming and I have enjoyed it very much, I was able to drift away from my daily life well. I have my eye on another novel by Ms Andrews already!

MKA can do no wrong in my book (pun intended!) and she once again delivered a fantastic summer read! This had it all: a setting set in sunny Florida, family dynamics, a mystery to solve, and a little romance thrown in for good measure. It always takes me a little bit to get to know the characters and feel connected, but once I "knew" them a bit better, I really liked them and enjoyed this book!

MKA writes a great beach read and I loved this one. A gorgeous beach location with a good mystery is what I count on Mary Kay Andrews for and she did it again. Drue is a strong woman who refuses to let life beat her down and there are some twists and turns along the way. I loved it!

Many thanks to NetGalley and St Martin's Press for gifting me a digital ARC of this wonderful book by Mary Kay Andrews - 4.5 stars!

Drue Campbell is down on her luck - her mom just died, she's trying to recover from injuries sustained from her kiteboarding career, she's been fired from her waitress job, and has no prospects. When her estranged dad shows up at her mom's funeral, he informs her that she has inherited her grandparents' cottage on Sunset Beach, and also offers her a job at his law firm. But the downside is that her dad has married her old best friend, and she's her new boss. When Drue discovers some newspaper clippings about a missing woman in her mom's possessions, she starts looking into the case. She also starts quietly investigating the death of a young woman at a nearby hotel - and starts questioning the involvement of her father or his law firm.

This is definitely not just a light beach read - I really got interested in this story and characters from the beginning. While there's just the slightest hint of romance, there are multiple mysteries to be solved. Drue is a wonderful character and you'll be rooting for her the whole time. I also loved the author's note at the end of the book describing her own beach cottage adventure. A must read!

This book is a good example of why you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. I was kind of expecting a fluffy beach read and what I got was so much better. Dru’s life was pretty much falling apart when her estranged father showed up offering her a job and a place to live. Dru quickly made some friends at work and got herself involved in trying to solve a mystery. The supporting characters are excellent and I really enjoyed Dru & Wendy come to terms with their new relationship and refind their friendship. The two mysteries were excellent and I did not see the end coming. I was totally buying the story that Andrews was leading me along on but that twist was epic. I would never have imagined who the real “bad guy” was. Wow! I really enjoyed this book!

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read this book.

A easy summer beach read that covers all the levels of mystery. Drue has decisions to make and attitude to deal with. Light enough to follow the job, family, crime solving and relationship issue. Recommend.

Wonderful beach read with plenty of substance. A yearly author for me. Plan to read for the duration of the pages

I found this book to be very surprising. The cover definitely led me to believe this book would be something very different from what it actually is. The cover makes it look like it will be a light fluffy romance novel, set on the beach. While this book is by no means difficult reading, and it is indeed set near a beach, it isn’t the light fluffy romance novel that the cover would have you believe.
This book is dramatic, and a little bit dark. There is family drama and murder, and everything in between. I ended up enjoying it, but with it had a cover that set you up a bit better for the actual contents of the novel.

I have only read one other Mary Kate Andrews book and I thought it was just okay. My friend urged me to read more and told me I would not be disappointed. Well boy, am I ever glad I did! This one has been sitting on my TBR shelf for a while and now I'm shaking my head as to why I waited so long to read it!

It's a perfect book for this time of year! It's Victoria Day Weekend in Canada and our kick off to summer begins now (and it's already been scorching hot!) I was so in the mood for this book. I loved the setting of the small beach town in Florida (similar to the one that my family has been wintering in for years now.) I was surprised to learn that this book involved not one but TWO mysteries. I was hooked right from the start!

Drue's mother has passed away and she inherits her Grandparents old beach house and is summoned to work at her estranged Father's law firm. Drue has fallen on some hard times so she decides to leave her home in Fort Lauderdale and travel back to her hometown of Sunset Beach on the West Coast of Florida. There she begins a new job and some new adventures await.

This book was such a delightful surprise! A Beachy Read with two engrossing mysteries and a dash of romance too! I must say I really liked Drue and her "amateur sleuth ways." Kudos to MKA for writing two captivating mysteries within one book! This book is not to be missed on your summer reading list! 🏖 ☀️ 🏝🍊🕵🏻‍♀️

I'd like to kindly thank NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for granting me access to this Advance Reader Copy.

I really enjoyed the Author's notes at the end of the book about Beach house dreaming and also the summer recipes that she provided. I've been to Tarpon Springs and my background is Greek so I will for sure try the "Greek Salad" from the famous old restaurant called, "Louis Pappas." 🇬🇷

Sunset Beach is a mystery romance about main character thirty year old Bree making some major life changes and finding a new beginning. Set in sunny Florida with a mystery to solve, this is a perfect beach read.
Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Mary Kay Andrews has long been a favorite of mine. Sunset Beach did not disappoint. I loved the mystery element that was in this novel. I can’t wait to get caught up on the rest of her books in my TBR stack!

Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book.

I can never get enough of Mary Kay Andrews' books! They are always full of life dilemmas and how people deal with those dilemmas. But they are also emotional and heart-breaking while being up-lifting. She knows exactly how to weave a story about family drama and how those dramas are dealt with in such realistic ways. I cannot wait to read her next book!

This is not the author for me. I do not like how she attacks people on social media for their opinions on books that aren’t even her own.

I will not be reading or reviewing anymore MKA books as she recently showed her side of bullying bookstagrammers. Very disappointed in the behavior as I have always enjoyed her books.
