In the 15th book in the series, FBI agent Lucy Kincaid is called in to assist on a case with the local police department’s detective Jerry Walker. Three murders have taken place which looks like there is a serial killer on the loose in San Antonio. Lucy and Jerry work endless hours following leads which keep leading to dead ends. Just when they think they have found the killer….the story takes yet another twist.

A second story involving Lucy’s husband Sean , his son Jesse, and Sean’s brother Kane is also taking place. A young boy who is a friend of Jesse’s gets caught up in a gang to be able to see his older brother who was released from prison. They all have to learn to trust each other to be able to save this young boys life.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I have read a few of the previous books so I was familiar with the characters, yet was not caught up with the story. Allison Brennan has a way of catching you up and yet writing this as a stand-alone book by giving you enough background information on the characters. This book has it all, mystery, intrigue and family relationships. I’m excited to now go back and read the books I’ve missed. Thank you to St. Martins Press and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review.

Nothing to Hide by Allison Brennan is mysterious thriller. One that led to four murders. But with each killing there is never any solid evidence that led the police officer nor his FBI partner to finding the killer. There's only circumstantial evidence that kept on building up. Plus, there's a witness. But even that might be let out of the courtroom due to the age of the witness. So much was riding on the evidence...they still have yet to find. Time isn't on their hands. A killer is just about to get away with it all.

Allison Brennan had me on the edge of my seat. I kept waiting for the big moment. But the story just kept building into this tense break it or make it moment. Intriguing as hell. I could not stop reading. I had to know who it was and if their case would be solid enough. I also needed to know how the case played out between Jerry, the police officer, and his newbie FBI partner, Lucy. Lucy has the best sense for the criminal mind. She has this unexplainable hunch and it always leads to the right answer. But it's a race against time in this deadly yet satisfying thriller. Overall, I do recommend this read. It was a bit slow, but it was worth digging into.

I received this copy from the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

Nothing To Hide is Book #15 in the Lucy Kincaid series. I have read other books in this series but feel that it would be fairly easy to follow even for those that haven’t.
Lucy and Detective Jerry Walker are trying to work together to solve three murders and have a hard time trying to make the connection between them. As a side story , Lucy’s husband’s Son comes to live with them and they are trying to learn to trust each other. His son, Jesse is trying to help a friend and that starts to make Sean question what his son is up to.
Allison Brennan as always leads you on a thrilling adventure. I received an ARC from Netgalley to give my honest review.

This book is like watching Criminal Minds but with more information. You don't have to read the previous books to enjoy this one, though those are good books too. Lucy has such a sharp mind and that shows in her work of catching the bad guys. In this book she is working with an investigator who doesn't like the FBI because they screwed up a case many years ago. The case has random guys dying and not knowing what links they all together. We follow Lucy and Jerry as they hunt down this killer. During all this Sean and Jesse have problems of their own.

I have voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this title given to me via NetGalley. Nothing to Hide is the fifteenth book in the Lucy Kincaid series and this title was really enjoyable. I can’t wait to read this authors future titles.

For those readers who have read any part of the Lucy Kincaid series, you will really enjoy this one. For those who haven't, don't let the number of books in this series deter you. This works easily as a stand alone. It will probably whet your appetite to go back to the beginning ... it's well worth it.

FBI Agent Lucy Kincaid is working with the local police in San Antonio on a case that completely has her baffled. Three bodies have been found ... no DNA .. no clues ... no evidence .... nothing ... nada.

The only commonality among these men, other than the way they were killed, is that they are all married, seemingly happy. They all have responsible jobs, nothing in their backgrounds indicate anything criminal. They don't share churches, grocery stores, laundries, etc.

What begins as a seemingly straightforward investigation turns into something far darker and more sinister than Lucy could have ever imagined.

On the personal side, her stepson finds himself in harm's way when he tries to help a friend. The friend's brother is head of a drug gang, just out of prison, and wants his younger brother to join him. But there's also the initiation to get through ...........

The story premise is a really good one. I got totally involved in the investigation, watching how Lucy takes every opportunity to question not only potential suspects, but her own instincts, as well. I like how the characters interacted .... Lucy and the local police who has no use for the FBI.... and then there's Lucy's relative new family .... a husband and a teenage stepson. All are finely drawn and credible.

Prepare for lots of action in this page-turning crime fiction / police procedural. Extremely well-written, this will keep you riveted from the very first page.

Many thanks to the author / St. Martin's Press Minotaur Books / Netgalley for the advanced digital copy. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Another hit for Allison Brennan. This time Lucy works with the BCSO but many of the regular characters we enjoy are here. Good story keeps you guessing. Satisfactory ending.

I love seeing Lucy grow as a character! Faced with a stubborn cop who doesn't like Feds, she is tasked to work with him in order to solved what appears to be a serial killer. Three men, who as it appears are happily married. They wind up dead, and Lucy is determined to find out why. There is also another side story including Sean's son Jesse, which shows how Sean and Jesse are trying to find their way, and trusting each other.

This one was jam packed with investigating, and theories in their investigating. Fast paced, and lots of turns. Loved it.

Nothing to Hide is another Brennan thriller and as always she never disappoints. Having followed Lucy Kincaid's story, since the first book in the series, I'm always on the lookout for her next adventure. FBI agent Lucy Kincaid joins with a local sheriff's department detective, whose past experience doesn't make him a lover of the FBI, to work together to solve the deaths of 3 men who seem to be victims of a serial murderer. At the same time Lucy and her husband Sean are dealing with the new experience of having a teenager in the house now that Sean's son has come to live with them. Al always Lucy and Sean's brothers and sisters and people from their past join to make the story more exciting. I enjoy the interaction of a good procedural with the family lives of the characters watching a fuller development of the characters you want to get to know better. The story will keep you involved as you follow the murder investigation and the personal life of Lucy Kincaid. This addition to the series brings a satisfaction of good procedural details, great character development, and mystery and suspense that will keep the pages turning.

The killer is uniquely cold. This is a coldness that cannot be hidden. He would be polite, respectful, follow all the social norms. But people who know the killer would be probably call him or her introverted, quiet, intelligent, aloof, possibly antisocial. This is not someone who likes people in general, but he can function in society. He or she has at least some college education, above average intelligence, organized not just as a killer, but in his personal life. He may have friends, he may be married, but keeps his friends at a distance and is cool with his spouse. However, the killer can play whatever part is needed - true sociopaths are maters of understanding character and psychology, so they can step in a variety of roles with ease. They can't stay in the role forever, but they can play the part.

I have read several the Lucy Kincaid series and I am hooked. I would like to go back and catch up as this book did refer to the past somewhat. Not enough to loose the reader but enough to tease the reader to put the series on the to read shelf. Lucy a good FBI agent is working with Sheriff Jerry Walker. Having a bad experience working with the FBI on case that involved the killing of two boys, Jerry did not trust the psychological mumbo jumbo of the FBI task force that Lucy belongs too. With 3 murders and a possible one in the near future, the killer is leaving their mark. A taser, a shot to the face, and beating, 3 men with no apparent ties are found murdered. Did they know the killer? How are the 3 men related to the killer. With no known forensic evidence per se, the two must put their differences aside and work together to find the motive of the killer before they can find the killer himself.

They begin to untangle web looking into the past of the victims and uncover each and every stone. The two working together see the value of what the other brings and start coming to conclusions that make the killer miss a step.

Another story that interwoven with the Kincaid's case is her husbands Sean son Jessie. His background his from the other books in the series but the story adds some drama of young people in gangs and how gangs keep a hold on them. Jessie trying to do the right thing while protecting his dad and step mother. The narration gave some depth to the characters.

All in all a good crime thriller of walking in the shoes of CSI and to listen to your gut and your dog.

A Special Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

These mysteries don’t disappoint.. although it was a little tough to get into this one. I am beginning to think writers get lazy and don’t want to mess with their formulas but after a few titles, it really is necessaty

It is #15 in the series. FBI Agent Lucy Kincaid is called into a case of a potential serial killer by the local San Antonio police. It was a slow book with lots of procedural explanations. There is also a sub plot of Lucy's step son and a gang.

Nothing To Hide – Allison Brennan

I was fortunate to receive this book as an Advance Reader Copy from Netgalley, in exchange for an objective review.

FBI Lucy Kincade faces her toughest case yet, as she works alongside a veteran cop Jerry Walker, with his disdain for the FBI and his distrust in profiling science. Investigating the third case of a seeming serial killer with an unusual routine, Lucy and Jerry are stymied. They can find no link between their victims. Different economic statuses, different jobs, different circles of acquaintances – there is no commonality. But each victim was tased, had both hands broken, and took a pointblank gunshot to the face. There’s no obvious motive – no robbery, no adultery, no reason that investigators can find for the murders. And yet, they appear anything but random…

Meanwhile, Sean’s thirteen-year-old son Jesse is struggling to fit in. After being recovered from a kidnapping in which his mother was killed, Jesse is new to the Rogan/Kincaid household. A frequent visitor to the boys home at St. Catherine’s Church, he has found solace in befriending boys his age, Michael & Brian, who have come from similar situations. But Brian is struggling with something, and Jesse and Michael are determined to keep him safe, risking their own lives in the process.

As the investigation continues, and they seem no closer to identifying a suspect, Lucy tests the waters and sets up a meeting with her brother, who is a forensic psychologist. Although Jerry is angry with the ambush, he listens and agrees to consider the profile presented. When a fourth victim is discovered dead after walking his dog, with the dog injured as well, they quickly zero in the victim’s son, who unwittingly connects the dots to the murders. While he doesn’t match the profile, Jerry is convinced they’ve got their guy, and with no alibi for the nights of the murders he is quickly arrested. But is he guilty? Or has a stone-cold killer set him up to take the fall??

Another fabulous read from the ever-amazing Allison Brennan!! I started reading her years ago, and now buy her titles, sight unseen. Doesn’t matter what the storyline is – I just know I’m going to love it!! Whether it’s Lucy Kincaid, or Max Revere starring in its pages, you’re going to LOVE whatever Brennan book you might grab!!

FBI Agent Lucy Kincaid is called into a case by the local San Antonio police. There is a potential serial killer on the loose. Men are being found beside the highway beaten, hands mangled and then shot to death. Lucy, with her background in psychology and experience, has been called in to work with a seasoned detective who has a definite dislike for the FBI which causes some ripples in their work relationship.

The book started a little slow for me. It picked up around 20% (ebook) when the police procedure started. The police procedure included interviews and forensics. The author is very knowledgeable and it is evident in her writing. But once I was caught up into the story and was looking for the "big reveal" I was so disappointed. It was so anticlimactic. No "a-ha moments" or twists. I would have wished for something "more". It was just "okay". It left a lot of unanswered questions and didn't feel finished. Not what I like in my books, but may be of interest to others.

This is my first time reading the Lucy Kincaid series (this is book #16) but I didn't find myself lost with a lot of backstory and character explanations. Actually the secondary characters were very interesting and has roused my interest in reading other books in the series.

I will try to read this author again. She does have a smooth and concise writing style. It is easy to follow and flows well. Great character development and dialogue. I was just disappointed by the ending.

Thank you to Minotaur Books and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Another great installment the lucy kincaid series! It will keep you on the edge of your seat. This is a standalone, but it great to read as a series to see the development of the characters.

Lucy Kincaid never disappoints and neither does Allison Brennan with a wonderful new addition to the FBI Agent Lucy Kincaid series. Lucy and Sheriff Deputy Investigator Jerry Walker are investigating two bodies that have been killed in the same unusual manner. Then a third body is killed the same way. The men all led normal lives, married, children with no obvious motive for their murders. Jerry is not happy that Lucy has been assigned to work with him, not because she is female, but because she is FBI. As they continue to question the families of the victims, there is no obvious connection between the men. Do they have a stone-cold psychopath killing just for the pleasure of getting away with murder? At the same time Sean, Lucy’s husband, is still dealing with his son, Jesse, and the trauma that he suffered when his mother was killed. While Lucy is able to use Sean’s assistance and perspective on the cases, the sheriff’s department and FBI work overtime processing what few clues they have. Ms. Brennan is a master at suspense and weaves a complicated and thoroughly entertaining mystery. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. Nothing To Hide

I really do enjoy what I’ve read from this author so far, but not this time. This book was a big disappointment for me. It took me longer than normal to read this book, but I guess that’s ultimately my fault. The reason is, I ended up reading it twice. The first time I lost interest and started skimming around in order to just finish it. Because I did want to know who was behind the murders. Then I gave up and read a few other books on my TBR until I came back around to this one. I decided to give it a fair chance. I felt I couldn’t really tell anyone my feelings of the book if I didn’t really read it properly. So I did, and painfully so. Oh how I wanted to skip ahead, constantly.

This book is so repetitive. I believe that a large portion of it is just the describing of the murders, the victims, the evidence, time and time again, over and over. And that really took away from the story. It was very anticlimactic, containing no thrills or chills. I wanted to know who the killer was, but I was willing to skip to the end just to find that out and be done with it.

I am giving 2 stars for character development and because I liked the very beginning and very ending. All in all though, it’s not worth the read for me.
