This is Book 1 in the Filthy Trilogy. I’m going to tell you right up front that this does end in a cliff hanger so you will have to buy the next 2 books to get the ending story. Eric is just about everything that you can ask for in a guy. He’s a hot tattooed hunk who just happens to be very rich. See, everything you wanted. Then we meet Harper, who needs his help. She just happens to be his step-sister. They have wild chemistry between them, but he left her years ago. There is so much going on here that you won’t want to put it down. You are going to be going through a lot of emotions while reading this book so don’t expect a light fun filled book because this isn’t that book. I can’t wait to read the next two books to find out how it ends. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book from Netgalley.
I received this book as an ARC . I have read a few books by Lisa renee Jones so I was eager to start this book.
The book started off great there was crazy chemistry there was definitely some sizzle .. as the book progressed I felt like it got a bit repetitive. I mean I did enjoy the story but it could have been a stand alone, I love trilogies but I feel like the plot lost its oomph as the story is getting stretched between books. The cliffhanger at the end did leave me wondering what book2 has in store. The bastard was such a great character he definitely made the book and kept me turning the pages .
Over all not a bad book it’s worth the read.
Thank you Netgalley for the e-arc in exchange for an honest review. The Bastard is hot and steamy and a quick read. The two main characters met six years previously and had a tangle in the sheets. Years later, they pick up where they left off. This book was filled with sex, mystery and intrigue. The ending is a cliffhanger and book two is not out yet so be prepared for the not so great end.
Eric and Harper met once - 6 years' ago. Now they're back together again because she needs him to help figure out what's going on at Kingston Motors.
The chemistry between them is sensational. Eric was an intensely interesting guy and gave me an insight into a world I'd never seen before. I found it harder to get a handle on Harper but then I wonder if that's because the next book in the series, Princess, is going to be about her. And you've got to save some big reveals for that. I can't wait to read it.
Also I really want to hear more about Walker. I hope there's another book about him.
The Bastard by Lisa Renee Jones is a suspenseful tale of a bastard son, a very wealthy family and secrets. Eric has pulled away from his father's family and is a successful business man of his own making. When his "step sister" pleads with him to come home to save the family company, Eric finds some dirty deals taking place.
Fast paced, with well drawn characters, the story is engrossing, even without the frequent steamy scenes thrown in. Warning! This first book in the series will leave you hanging with no resolution to the plot or relationships in the book.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in return for a review. #thebastard
I so so enjoyed this book!!! I enjoy the fact that I can't figure out the who and the why??!! I have no trouble doing that with in the first couple of chapters in a book! This book was refreshingly potent in a serious and sexy way! It is exciting when an author can keep you on your toes!! Eric has this "thing" that you like to read with an alpha male. He takes what he wants and screw everything and everybody else! This book keeps you guessing and this author does not disappoint. I have already bought the two other books and gave her five stars because I finished this ARC and the others are there too read and purchase now!!! Now if you don't love that you have a serious problem!!! Reading the next as soon as I hit save!!!! You have to read this one!! New book boyfriend!!!
I received this ARC from the publisher via Net Galley at my request. The opinions written are solely my own. Thank you Net Galley!!
This book has the soap opera vibe, with the sad motherless boy who grew up to be more successful than his Father. Out for revenge with his step-sister who he has been craving after hot night 6 years ago. Too much for my brain. Don’t think I’ll be continuing with this series.
2.5 stars
Great story. Loved the character dynamics - definitely made it an interesting read. Of course hate the cliff hanger but will definitely read and hope it continues with the great character interaction and storyline
I really enjoyed this book but hated the ending... I have to read Book 2 to find out more ! I like this authors books and look forward to reading them all. It reminds me of Jackie Collins, where there are lots of plots, intrigue and goings on. Brilliant.
This was an ok story line, liked the main characters but the main couple had chemistry ... rather then dropping the F🤬 so much, there are so many other words that could have been used for the coming together of our pair. (Maybe that’s just me, if so then toss this review to file 13!)
Eric was so romantic who wouldn’t want a man like this in their life? He came to help his family and it seemed like everyone was out for blood when he arrived.
If Harper cared so much for Eric why couldn’t she just be honest and up front? In real life isn’t it always like that?? We turn a Novella in to a 3 book series.
I honestly dont much care to know what happens with this couple. I’m hoping they end up together but I’m sure that will be at the very end of book 3 and I didn’t care that much for the story.
Too much repetitiveness and use of the F word for me.
A pretty good start to the series. Disappointed with a cliffhanger but okay. The story is fiery and has elements of drama. Overall good writing.
This book was so intensely repetitive I had to force myself to finish it. The phrases 'the bastard and the princess', anyone?!
The premise for the story itself could have had promise, if I hadn't forced myself to get through the cringey (and again, decidedly repetitive) sex scenes, only to end the book on an interim, and having to wait for the second book to complete the story !
If I had known that, I would have DNF. I kinda wish I had and not wasted my time.
Thanks to netgalley (I think??) For the ARC in exchange for the honest review.

Interesting read. Only gave 4 because this author always bugs the crap out of me by not writing a book in its entirety and there is ALWAYS a next book and a next book etc.... I have give up on her so many times and then think that she has changed and I am disappointed. If I had paid the $5 for this I would be very upset. It seemed that is what the author is after $.
The story has a ton of twists and turns and the characters are very complicated and twisted. I am so disappointed in Eric. If he is the savant and genius he is toted to be why is he so easily lead to what they want to see? Harper should have been upfront from the start and of course she wasn’t so she looks worse then what she is.
Well I am sucked in and I have to read the next. I sure hope there isn’t a next book after that like the title implies because this will be the last time I try out this author.
I did receive a copy from NetGalley, but I would be mad if I had paid $5 for this and have to spend another $5 for the end or then $5 more for the next.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Beyond amazing I enjoyed this book so very much. The characters and storyline were fantastic. The ending I did not see coming Could not put down nor did I want to.
Money, scheming, family politics, step siblings are all in the storyline of this book. Who can you trust and what will you, or they gain if you do, or don't act the way they do or don't want you to. Life choices and consequences are played out in this read.
I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a hard one for me. On one hand, I don't think this book plot should be more than 1 book. I feel like it was drawn out unnecessarily and a plot that could have been done in 1 book was stretched into 3. On the other hand, I enjoyed the story until the end when i found out there were more books. The chemistry between the Bastard and the Princess was hot. There were times when I wanted to slap her, though, especially when she would remind him that he left. I kept telling to my Kindle "He told you he was leaving. Get over yourself already." I really liked the Bastard character. I like how he want afraid of who he was and he want going to let other dictate to him who they thought he should be.
I had no idea it was going to end with a cliff hanger, i'm not sure if I liked it enough to read the next ones.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
This book ends on a cliffhanger. I do not like to read books that end on a cliffhanger unless I am prepared and already have the next book in the series. While this book was mentioned that it is the first in a series it did not say anything about cliffhangers. The story was interesting, but I felt as though the writing style was lackluster. Most reminiscent of high school English paper writings. Therefore, I thought paying $4.99 for each of the following two sequels was too high of a price and will not read them. Perhaps if it was written better I would.

I did not finish this book. I’m halfway through and the characters have zero depth. The only dialogue between Eric and Harper are him accusing her of not being truthful and her saying she’s telling him the truth. I do not care at all what happens.
Good story that moved quick and flowed well. My only real issue is that it would have been nice to know a little more about Harper's father's company to understand the drama/situation a little better. By the end of the story though, I was ready for the sequel.
