I hate it when the blurb and the story don't match. The blurb pretty much spoils the whole story for one. The line "The clock is ticking, and the political scandal is growing." does not match what I read since Oliver has no idea of what is going on and his is the only one who is telling the story. The book is not even about him and Bailey. It's a bunch of things thrown together. I was even questioning if he was going to end up with Bailey or his roommate because there wasn't a clear direction of where the book was heading. On one hand, we had Bailey whose husband died and is focused on not growing the scandal and on the other Skye was throwing tantrums and acting like a jealous woman, so I had no idea if Bailey was actually going to be the one for him. I was going to give two stars to the book, but when I went back and read the blurb, I felt even more cheated.

Oliver lacks any kind of personality. If you ask me to describe to you what a stereotypical male model is like Oliver will be my example. I feel like I am insulting the male models now and that wasn't my intention. And he might pretend that he is a book boyfriend but he is not book boyfriend material.

I wish I had known that Oliver is an escort. I was sold on the idea of him pretending to be a book boyfriend, but I feel like I got a gigolo instead. It's like ordering dresses online from a dubious source. What you pictured and what you got are two completely different things. Did we really need a gigolo who actually sleeps with other women after he meets "his lady" when the book is not even 200 pages long?

I was so annoyed with everything else going on in the book that I wasn't even bothered by the cheating. And I am always bothered when someone cheats. Oliver was also ok with it.

If the book had focused on one thing I would have been happy. We had Oliver's business, the woman that was helping him with his business, whatever was going on with Skye and the part of the book where Oliver and Bailey are supposed to be a convincing couple. I am a huge fan of the misadventure series, but this one was a hard miss. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I didn’t go into this story with super high expectations, and I’m glad because this book did not work for me at all. Misadventures with a Book Boyfriend is a new installment in the Misadventures series, each written as a standalone by a different author. This particular story follows Oliver, a washed up model who needs to make money quickly. After listening to women at the pool talk about the heroes from romance novels they’re obsessed with, Oliver has the idea to create a business where women can go on dates with their favorite hero.

This was the first romance novel I’ve read that was entirely from the male’s point of view, and I’m not really a fan of it. I think it’s mostly because I just didn’t like him as a person? He started off okay, but then he started getting upset and complaining that his love interest and his best friend (who is a female) are so focused on their careers and have to be ruthless to achieve what they want. I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes at this part, and was so frustrated that he really didn’t support these two important women in his life.

I also didn’t enjoy the book because Oliver and his love interest, Bailey, had no chemistry. I kept waiting to read more about their relationship and hope to like them as a couple, but I didn’t think they had any chemistry at all, and their scenes together were pretty meh.

I thought there would be more information about Oliver’s new business, Book Boyfriend Inc., but most of the growth is done off page. At the beginning of the novel he discusses reading popular romance novels to understand the character for his dates, but that’s only done once, and then everything else happens off page. Every once in a while we get an update about how his business is going, but it’s more of a side comment instead of something that he’s supposedly spending a lot of time working on.

Overall this was a pretty meh read. There were too many things I didn’t like and couldn’t get over to really enjoy the story.

I do not normally read romance novels, this was an unexpected surprise. I enjoyed the flow of the book and the banter between characters. The storyline is a little kitchsey. It is a short book and a fairly quick read. I did find that there were parts of this book that made me flush a bit while I read it at work (note to self: do not read romance novels at work. This is the first Misadventures book that I read and I would be interested in checking the other books out in the collection.

This book was a lot of fun wrapped up in a sexy and entertaining concept. Elliot is an out of work model who feels he is washed up at the age of 27 and knowing he has made bad financial decisions in his past he needs to find a side hustle just to pay the rent. While sitting around the pool and listening to the "moms" he comes up with an idea, he places a personal ad to be a Book Boyfriend. Little did he know he would actually develop feelings for the first "date" and not be able to get her off his mind. So many twists and turns and even a little bit of suspense added in with some snark keeps this going. Just like all the other Misadventures this is a quick read and definitely satisfying. I recommend this one to warm up a winter afternoon!

This was my first Misadventures book and reading this author. I know there’s a bunch of these in the series so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I thought it was pretty good. It wasn’t very long so I got it read in a couple of hours. It was all in Oliver’s POV which was cool and I thought the company he came up with was pretty clever. His bestie Skye... not a fan. She was not a good friend to him and I wanted to throat punch her half the time. Any whoo, not too shabby of a story.

It's been a while since I've read a Misadventures story. So I was really looking forward to this one, and whilst it wasn't quite what I was expecting. I did enjoy it and it certainly kept me engaged throughout. Not to mention I loved the cast of characters from Janine, who inspires Olivers new career as a book boyfriend. To Skye whose the disapproving best friend/roommate to Bailey the client he falls in love with. And I loved how the story all came together, how everything connected. And that it was fast paced, fun, hot and that it had moments of unhappiness too.

Would happily recommend.

Oliver Connely will definitely steal your heart in Misadventures with a Book Boyfriend. While trying to come up with an alternative income while his current modeling gigs are at a standstill, he comes up with a brilliant business idea - to become the dream guy that women fantasize about in their romance books. My only hard limit with this one was a personal issue from my past, but it did impact my view of the storyline at certain parts. I still love the idea of it and recommend it to others, especially if you're an avid reader. Fair warning - if Book Boyfriend Incorporated was a legit business, I'd have to get a second job to support the addiction!

Misadventures with a Book Boyfriends is a fun and fresh approach to the adoration that romance readers have for their book boyfriends! ~ Heather, White Hot Reads

I was so excited to read this book because it’s not done often, add in that this is Victoria Blue’s debut not co-writing and I anticipated greatness. Without a doubt, Ms. Blue delivered.

If you want to see a fun take on book boyfriends in the romance world, take a chance on this Misadventure.

I highly enjoyed this one. It is so hard not to fall in love with Oliver. He has such heart and passion. I love how he takes changes in his life in strive and becomes what most woman want to experience. The love of books is strong with this one as he becomes your book boyfriend. But being a book boyfriend comes with a few challenges. As you read you will love and not so much like the ladies in his life. But you will love how passionate Oliver is. Misadventures with a Book Boyfriend is a wonderful read.

I recently started reading the misadventure series and love them. This story did not disappoint. The storyline is great and had some twists and turns I was definitely not expecting. Oliver is a character that definitely has the making of a great book boyfriend. I laughed, loved and was on the edge of my seat. Read this story in one sitting because I enjoyed it so much. Looking forward to more.

Holy crap!!
This book had so many twists at every turn.
It's got a very interesting premise happening here. Start a company "Book Boyfriend Inc" but what happens when it doesn't seem to go the way they intended but backfires on Oliver?
Everyone needs an Oliver!! Swoon

I recieved this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I love the Misadventures series. This is my first book written by Victoria Blue. Not sure if her writing is mellow or dragged a bit usually. I did love the steamy scenes they were hot. I just couldn't like Bailey and Skye until the end.

Oliver was a great book boyfriend. Janine was such a great character.

Oliver Connely is a strugglingmodel. His jobs have dried up and he is struggling to make it in the industry. When he overhears some women at his apartments pool talking about their "book boyfriends" he thinks he could be what some women want for a night.

Partnering with one of the housewives, they come up with a scheme to make him every book lovers dream man. Wine them, dine them, and give them the attention they deserve. What could go wrong?

Well, he could fall for one of them, that might be an issue…

Okay, I have read some of the "Misadventure" novels before and I have pretty much given up on them. They don't really get to me or make me feel anything. I have found the characters hard to connect with in the past. However, the nice thing about this series is that it is written by multiple authors, and I think I found someone I jive with.

This was a fun book. Oliver was charming and enterprising. And what could have been a really cheap story, actually was kind of heart warming to me. There was even a little mystery built in.

I did get worried at first, because it is obvious that Oliver basically is a prostitute for these women to live out their fantasies. Its fine that he does this, but I wanted him to actually call a spade a spade. He is putting a spin on the "call girl" prototype, but that is what he is doing. However, his best friend points out what he is doing and that helped me feel vindicated that we weren't going to let that slide.

All in all, this was fun, exciting, and definitely makes you think. Would you pay for a night with your favorite book boyfriend? I am tempted for sure.

I give this 4 stars because I was charmed and it was a fun ride. There were obvious issues and it tried to shoehorn in a story that didn't really fit, and then it just ended. But it was worth the few hours it took to read.

from the blurb on Goodreads; Misadventures is a romantic series of spicy standalone novels, each written or co-written by some of the best names in romance. The stories are scandalous, refreshing, and, of course, incredibly sexy. They’re the perfect bedside read, a ‘quick blush’ for the reader who loves a page-turning romance.

the story was addictive and I found it hard to put down at times. greatly well written by this author and also first book of hers I’ve ever read.

3.5 stars.

What a creative new story idea! Dating/hiring someone who is like one of our ideal book boys? The setting for this has some great elements: middle aged moms who chat about the hot books they've read and the men in them, creating a platform for them to have a night (or more!) fantasy date, of course some romance, and a best friend thrown into the mix as well. Nice addition to the Misadventures series, which are all stand alones so can be read by itself.

Oliver learns the hard way and with some much needed tough love, that he has to grow up and make a plan for his life. He is surrounded by women and has learned a thing or two about keeping them happy. That's when the idea of a real life book boyfriend is born. This book had some surprises. The characters' attitude and behavior felt very real. Touching topics like loyalty, jealousy and betrayal among others. I felt at some point it concentrated more in the politics and the side story than in the book boyfriend topic but on the other hand it needed to happen for the story to develop and for mistakes to be fixed. Old friendships needed to be amended. But the captivating part about this, is that Oliver is genuinely a very dedicated and caring guy, even when his close friends are being nasty. He is an all in, love with all his heart type of man.

What a concept!! Would you be willing to pay a lot of money to go out with a man who acted like your favorite book boyfriend. This is the concept that Oliver has for a new business.

Oliver is a model who is finding it harder and harder to find work. He is being replaced by younger models and he is in need of money fast. He overhears some women talking about their favorite book boyfriends and an idea forms. While this concept was fun, I really wish we could have had more about him slipping out of character. He started this business and at least it seemed like he got clients right away. Luckly he has a help of a neighbor who seems to have read most of the books. I just wish we could have read a scene where it didn't go so well. It seemed to flow almost too easily for Oliver.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the character of Oliver but I did have a hard time with Bailey. For most of the book, there wasn't a lot of redeeming characteristics about her. I mean she did have her reasons for doing everything but she just came off as so cold that I didn't understand Oliver's obsession with her.
