Suddenly Single was just not very realistic and the main character wasn't very relatable.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC for an honest review.

Suddenly Single is a charming read that surprisingly delves deeper into mental health and self-care than your typical romantic comedy. Chloe Piper's journey of self-discovery after her marriage crumbles offers a realistic take on divorce and the struggles of moving forward. While the interactions between Chloe and the supporting cast are lively and engaging, I found the chemistry between her and the love interest, Alex, a bit lacking. That said, I appreciated how the author, Carol Wyer, infused humor throughout, making it a lighthearted yet poignant experience.

Chloe’s setbacks and victories in dealing with her anxiety add depth to the narrative, and her loyal friends provide a refreshing support system that readers can root for. The book strikes a nice balance between laughter and reflection, making it a simple yet entertaining read. Overall, *Suddenly Single* is an enjoyable story that many can relate to, earning a solid 3 out of 5 stars from me.

I became a huge fan of Carol Wyer after discovering her Robyn Carter series and she has become an author that I will read literally anything she writes!

Very cute and heartfelt, with no gratuitous scenes/ descriptions (which means I can share it with my older friends too)

Chloe has been having a really hard time, already suffering from social anxiety disorder but now her husband has left her for another woman.

After her successful first book Chloe has hit writers block. Deciding she needs a new start she moves to a new development not far from her former home.

Looking forward to a quiet life in the country she starts to get settled before meeting Alex the son of the developer, she then met her neighbours who run a singles club, somehow she finds herself signed up to the group and through meeting other singles will she be able to overcome this condition.

This was a fabulous book, wonderful characters and a great hug of a book, definitely worth a read.

Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Chloe Piper is the unlikely author of a racy bestseller. She escapes from a cheating husband to settle in a converted farmhouse for what she thinks is some peace to work on her second novel. Unfortunately, writer’s block is getting the better of her.

After a drunken night she signs up to a Singleton club run by her neighbours, Eleanor and Fairfax. The thought of going to the events terrifies her as her low self-esteem and social anxiety cripples her. Will she get out of her comfort zone and find the man she deserves?

Suddenly Single is one of those fun light hearted reads but it also covers the serious topic of mental health, specifically social anxiety.

I really liked Chloe, I just warmed to her immediately. It was a real treat to watch her grow and believe in herself as the story progressed. I also loved her cheeky dog Ronnie, he stole the show occasionally through the story!

I have to say I may not be single, but I’d love to go to the singletons club! They had so many fun events scattered throughout the novel I’d love to try! Of course, Coronavirus would prevent most of them now, but it was nice to live vicariously through the characters for a while.

I wished there was a little more humour, probably a lot of it went over my head, but that's my opinion!

If you’re looking for a bit of escapism from the way the world is right now, I’d highly recommend Suddenly Single!

If you want a delightful rom com that follows the life of Chloe, as she unexpectedly finds herself single and has to go out and try to meet someone new at social events,,, while suffering from social anxiety. It is well done and I just wanted to befriend Chloe. More than just a romance, def some humor and a well developed story line. Thank you for the opportunity to read this

The book didn't leave a mark... I can't really remember it.
I read it as soon as I got it but forgot to review it, I don’t know what I was expecting but somehow it didn’t quite reach my expectations.

This was a super cute and fun read. I really loved Chloe and felt that she was a well rounded character. I liked all the characters and loved the single club dynamic they have. This was such an adorable and heart felt read and the ending was so sweet. A nice relaxing beach read when you just want to run away from life.

My rating is based on the blurb as I, unfortunately, had formatting issues with this book. It's been added to my purchase list.

This is a different kind of romantic book by Carol and in general. Yes it is a romantic comedy but this had a different feel to it, it is wrong to say it wasn’t light and fluffy because it was but it felt more….mature. I say this because while Carol is not afraid to tackle all types of subjects this one focuses heavily on social anxiety and it just didn’t feel fluffy. Nothing wrong with fluffy, I love it, so easy to read but for me, there was something more to it.

The story covers a year in the life of Chloe. I adored Chloe, she is already suffering from this horrible debilitating disorder but her ex-to-be husband William is the 100% jerk-off that you could imagine. He reminded me of my ex, just stripped Chloe of all confidence and made her feel everything was her fault, just like my ex. It can destroy you or it can make you stronger, or it can do both. For Chloe, it does both. When we meet her, she is low, she can’t talk to people bar her best friend Faith, she wants to faint, be sick, sweats profusely when she meets people and she panics. I have been there and at times still there. My heart is with Chloe, she is coerced into attending the singleton events by her new neighbours but that is where the fun really starts.

Every event has made Chloe step out of her comfort zone and while she is not completely cured, she has spunk and she has sparkle plus she makes the most amazing friends. Yes, this book is all about Chloe but we have a lot of focus on other characters and two that I loved the most were Sean and Jacqueline. They all had their own stories and we got to see a small glimpse of them and they were just so loveable! Plus, of course, we have to love Alex, he is just insecure and nervous about everything, lacking in confidence due to an ex, again we watch him shine a light. I found all the characters to be engaging and fun, only one character I struggled with, and they made the story flow. They all aided Chloe in different ways without even realising it. All the characters have shown the mantra of this book in buckets – I am stronger than I think!

I do love this side of Carol, the calmer, lighter more comical side, which we don’t see in her detective books. She is a dab hand at this writing, she has yet again created characters who you want to love and who you would want to be friends with, she won my heart with this book. The singleton’s club sounds like so much fun and an awesome way to meet people, now if Carol set this up you know it would be a hoot!

Love, love, love this book!

When Chloe finds out her husband William has cheated on her just before Christmas she feels like her world has fallen apart. Starting again, in a brand new home, away from the village gossips is just what Chloe needs. Just her and her ever faithful companion, dog Ronnie.

You can’t help but to totally fall in love with the character of Chloe, as throughout the story, you follow her on her journey of trying to get her life back on track and coping with her social anxiety problems, to trying to get over her ever present writers block and get her next novel written.M

We witness Chloe change from a shy, socially awkward person and grow into her confidence, with the help of a bunch of brilliantly written characters, all who have a bearing on Chloe’s life, none more so, than the lovely Alex!

Suddenly Single is full of love, laughs, reflection and friendship, and had me totally hooked from page one! I would recommend anyone reading Suddenly Single and not feeling the same way as I do!

This is a typical chick lit which is okay. I enjoyed reading it, but it was nothing out of the ordinary nor was it particularly special.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC without obligation.

Thanks to Netgally for this reader copy. This is a very cute, but predictable romantic comedy. A story of love finds you when you lease expect it. I enjoyed this even if its wasn't an original idea,

I loved this one! Such a fun read and the characters were well thought out, complex and funny. It wasn't just about romance, which I really loved! 4 stars :)

I’ve read all of Carol Wyer’s mystery novels and have loved them all. Unfortunately, this was a miss for me. Chloe is getting a divorce and suffers from social anxiety. This is supposed to be a rom-com of sorts but I didn’t really find it funny. To be honest, I was a little bored while reading this. That’s not to say that I won’t read Wyer, she’s one of my favorites. This just didn’t work for me.

This book was kindly given by Netgalley for me to review it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I'm a little disappointed by this book. Although I knew it wasn't a romance, I thought it was chick-lit -you know, a fun and light reading. To me, it's neither of them. It doesn't work as a funny reading, almost nothing comic happens, just a bunch of people meeting and doing fun stuff. It doesn't work as a romance (or the romantic part in a chick-lit story), since Chloe and her love interest almost doesn't spend time together and you can barely see sparks between them (even at some point I thought Chloe was going to get back with her ex!). And it doesn't work as a mental health book. Chloe has Social Anxiety Disorder, which I know very well and although I think this was a very good starting point, you can see only a bit of that disorder and not what really happens. She has a light panic attac and almost inmediatly she overcomes it.
I thought this story was going to be funny, with a little bit of love and a wonderful story of self-improvement. But to me it wasn't. In spite of that, I encourage the readers to give it a try, there's potential in the story. Maybe you like it!
