I was really disappointed with this.

Although a novella it felt very weak on the story and seemed to just be filling it parts of the story from the past book and ready for number 4.

Just really not for for me.

Rekindled is part of the Circuit Fae series, and it's also a prequel to the upcoming fourth book, Nemesis. If you haven't read any of the previous books in the series, you'll probably want to do that first before tackling Rekindled.

Syl and Rouen, now both queens of their respective Faerie realms, have even more challenges to face in this book. Not only do they still need to try and find a way to fix their kingdoms, but Rouen is currently under a spell that made her forget everything about Syl. Instead, she's busy focusing on her music career with her new "manager." Said manager, though, isn't who she seems to be.

Syl has to try and figure out a way to break the curse Rouen is under before it's too late, and she'll do whatever it takes to do it, too. Never mess with a soul-bonded pair.

I really enjoyed this little novella, and it made me even more excited to dive into Nemesis. I've loved this series ever since I took a chance on Moribund. I love the banter between Syl and Rouen, as well as the romance. Their love for one another is something most people can only dream of. I think that's what makes the stories so fantastic. It's like a Romeo & Juliet type thing, but without all the depressing death and stuff.

Syl is extra-mega determined to find a way to "cure" Rouen in this book, and it just makes you cheer her on even more. You want her to make Rouen remember. You want the pair of them to get back to repairing their kingdoms and making things right. But the battle to do so has only just begun.

I also liked that we get a little bit more of Syl's Glamma in this one. She actually shows up in the beginning and the end, and I'd love to see more of her in the rest of the series. Fingers crossed!

Overall, Rekindled is a fast-paced, exciting novella that will have you eagerly awaiting the fates of Syl and Rouen. The ending, though... Well, I won't spoil it, but let me tell you, it made me almost want to scream and throw my Kindle at the wall. It also made me even more anxious for Nemesis now.

I'm giving this one 4.5 stars. Check it out!

This was such a great novella. I loved the characters and the short story. I haven't read any of the other books but now I want to dive right in. Eldredge did a fantastic job with this book.

Being back in the Faerie world with Syl and Rouen felt awesome, though the fact that Rouen couldn't remember anything definitely put a damper on my joy.

Also, the fact that Syl wouldn't kiss Rouen to break up the spell really made me want to chuck things at her—or the author. (Sorry!) I mean, they were already in love, even if Rouen didn't remember it, she could feel it.

Though Rekindled did manage to sweep me away into the tale, just like all its prequels did. It was so much fun to be back in Syl and Rouen's world and I can't wait to get into the next book! Waiting for it's release is going to be a struggle!

I missed the old Rouen in this one. The dark, gothic girl went missing in this one and I hated that. :( But I loved the little Dark Fae kiddos, they managed to lighten up the story enough to keep up the quirky feels that usually accompany this series intact.

I also hated the ending because it definitely could've been avoided, had Syl not been so stupid. What can I do but wait for the next book and hope that she remedies her mistakes?

In Rekindled, the newest novella in the Circuit Fae series, we get to see a first person viewpoint that we've never seen before, Glamma. Throughout the book, we have the usual intertwined Rouen and Syl viewpoints, and this new part really added that extra push that it needed to be different from the other books. This time, Rouen's memory has been wiped by their latest nemesis, the librarian. The only way to bring it back is for Syl to kiss her before the new moon.

This book, like the other, catches you up really nicely, which I'm really thankful for, reading as many books as I do. The characters are beautifully intertwined, and the whole thing is wrapped up in a really nice purple cover. I couldn't wait to dig into this book, and I wasn't disappointed. Glamma begins by saying that you can only fight the fae for so long before the damage catches up on you, that it's all about playing keep away until Syl is able to fix what she messed up so long ago. After all, she'll be the fair fae queen soon.

Rouen has lost her memory, and the librarian desperately needs Glamma to release her barrier spell from the hearthstones. She agrees, but only if she'll sign her contract saying that she'll give Syl until the new moon to break the curse, no tricks. The librarian reluctantly agrees, but little do they know that she has some other tricks up her sleeve.

We meet Rouen again at 1am, and the club that she's playing is packed to the brim. She's overcome with memories that can't be her own, but feel so familiar that she can't help but wonder. Still desperately in love with Syl, she dreams of a flame haired girl by her side. Syl, on the other hand, is following her around, and trying to get her beloved's memories back, but also stay hidden from Rouen's new manager, the librarian. The hardest thing of her life so far, is getting to see the girl she loves forget her completely. What she can't forget, however, is her feelings for Syl.

If you're looking for a heartfelt yet still action packed story that will keep you tied over until the official fourth book comes out, than you need to read this. And if you haven't checked out the series before, I recommend checking out the first book, if you're into young teens really growing into themselves, learning about the crazy world around them, and eventually entering the mystical faerie realms to fulfill their destinies.

Thanks for reading!

actual rating: 2.5

I'm kind of torn on this one. On the one hand I really enjoyed most of it ...right up until the last chapter. It's cool to see Rouen playing larger shows [although I wish it were in better circumstances] and it's cool to see Syl interacting more with her friends and I liked that the dark fae kids from the other novella played a big part in the plot ...but plot-wise the whole thing was entirely pointless.

I mean I get that generally large plot-shaping events don't happen in the novellas between main books, but maybe that means that this was not a good place for a novella because I am feeling pretty frustrated now. I mean [SPOILERS] we start the book with Rouen not remembering who Syl is at all and then we go through all that crap and have a huge fight and 'win' and we are left with ...Rouen STILL not remembering who Syl is [or 'remembering' but thinking it is a lie, which is a technical difference but honestly all comes out to the same thing].

I'm still giving it three stars because it is technically as well written as all the other books in the series and I did enjoy most of it, but I'm definitely annoyed at where we are left at the end and it almost feels like I could have skipped the entire thing and not even noticed a difference.
