Firstly I’d like to say thank you to NetGalley, Random House Childrens and Jay Kristoff for allowing me the opportunity to read and review this book honestly.
We get to pick up right where Lemon Fresh, Evie and Zeke leave off! It has a different feel from the first as our friends have separted ways so we get to see multiple POV’s that alternate. This change took a minute to get into from where I was like, but waittt I wanna know what’s going on here.
In true Jay fashion though, it takes right off with so much adventure, banter, even a dash of romance plus as always heart breaking moments and twists upon twists. I love getting to meet new characters and see how everyone’s paths are crossing and changing.
We mostly see Lemon in this novel and let me tell you, I love her so much! Jay nails teenage girls so frickin well and his made up words kills me. I can’t believe sitting here thinking about everything that happened in this novel in such a short time line and that I have to wait another year to find out what they are really going to do!
This book was such a fun YA overall and highly recommend it!
Jay Kristoff has quickly jumped into my top three favorite authors. If his name is on the cover, I'm buying it. No questions asked, no synopsis read. And with this sequel to Lifelike, he doesn't let us down!
I love that we get to jump right back into the action. It's a peeve of mine when you can't remember where you left off or we missed events the author didn't write about and we just get pieces through the characters' conversations. And this time, it feels like it never slows down.
Cricket is still my favorite character, with Lemon just a step behind. It was nice to get their points of view. Along with the others.
Eve is so conflicted and I totally get it. She's been through so much and isn't sure how to feel. It just makes everything that happens even more impactful.
Once again the ending left me wanting to throw my Kindle across the room. You'd think I'd have learned my lesson by now. I need the next installment STAT!!!
I'm pretty sure I squealed in excitement when I received this ARC. The first book in this series, LIFEL1K3, was mind-blowing, full of twists, and one of my most memorable reads last year.
In the first book, Lemon Fresh stole nearly every scene she was in, so I was thrilled she's the primary POV for DEV1AT3. Fiercely loyal, a rollicking sense of humor, and such a kind heart - anyone would be lucky to count her as a friend. With her enthralling story, I ran through nearly every emotion out there. By the end of the book, she's still surrounded by mystery, and I'm excited to see what happens next for her.
Cricket, my favorite logika, has a chance to live what he thought was his dream. Unfortunately, be careful what you wish for. Ezekiel finds an unlikely accomplice, learns some hard truths, and fights the good fight - but there are still surprises in store for him.
The world-building continues to be magnificent, and some new, highly charismatic characters are introduced. Some readers may be disappointed Eve plays more of a minor role in this novel, but Lemon's story is too big to be a sub plot, and needs to be told. When all is said and done, I think everything will weave together in the end.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Disclaimer: First and foremost I would like to thank Jay Kristoff, Random House Childrens, and NetGalley for providing me an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. This in no way sways my opinions, all thoughts expressed are my own.
THIS BOOK IS ACTION PACKED!
It's really hard not to say anything spoilery as this is a second installment and I don't want to ruin anything in the first book! I really enjoyed LIFEL1K3, so when I was offered the chance to read DEV1AT3, I jumped at the opportunity! This book was filled with everything that I love; action, a little romance, scifi elements, and so much banter! It reminded me of the game Borderlands. The post apocalyptic feel, the advanced technology with weapons/AI, and just the overall survival of the population was exciting to read! We get multiple points of view during this book, which helps expand on the world building as we follow each character to new places. I love that Kristoff chose to write this series as a YA because teenage conversations can be so hilarious! Especially in regards to their inner thoughts and feelings! The majority of the book focuses on Lemon, introducing us to some of the most interesting and cool characters!
The only real critique I have is that the timeline feels SO short! I can't imagining everything happening to these characters within such a short time span but then again, that ramps up the intensity!
Overall, this book was amazing and FUN! I enjoyed seeing the direction the characters went. This second installment did not disappoint! Jay Kristoff is a master at twists and turns and leaving us going WTF at the end! I am devastated and cannot wait for #3!
You can pre-order pre-order this book at Amazon, or search any retailer online or book store closest to you! Available June 25th, 2019!

Deviate starts out right where Lifelike left off and I absolutely Love that. It made it seem like we just jumped right back into the action and for the rest of the book, it doesn't slow down at all.
Lemon Fresh and Cricket are my favorite characters so I truly enjoyed having the differing POVs in this book. Eve is breaking my heart right now but I am loving the fact that she is a flawed character. Girl, you're allowed to be hurt, unsure, and a murderer. I get it. 🤣
I hate writing reviews for books with nonstop action. I was gasping in shock for half of it and I can't really say why because of spoilers. Just know, you need to read this series. It's amazing.

Thank you to the publisher for the e-ARC via netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
It's no surprise that I'd love DEV1AT3. I actually think I loved it even more than the first book. While Evie was the main character in LIFEL1K3, Lemon Fresh was who the story revolves around in DEV1AT3. We learn more about what makes Lemon Fresh the person she is, more about deviates, and her specific deviation. But we also get to follow the POVs of Ezekiel, Evie, and Cricket and their stories.
I really don't have anything bad to say about this book except that it sadly eventually ended. And I am totally biased, because LIFEL1K3 is one of my favorite books ever and I tattooed a quote from it on my skin. But everyone should read this series.
Jay Kristoff has always been a very good writer but there's something about the Liflike series that demonstrates that his skills have reached whole new level. It is beautifully designed and superbly executed. It felt to me like this novel had been churning around in Jay’s mind for years and years, awaiting its chance to appear on the page but only when he felt he had the expertise to deliver it exactly the way he wanted it. From the opening scene to the final words, DEV1AT3 was gripping, funny, carried great emotional punch, was immersive and perfectly paced.
I loved Lemon Fresh… she is properly cynical about where she’s found himself. But it’s her capacity for ‘doing the right thing’ that sets her apart. And when you know she's about to do it again, you admire her while wincing at the likely consequences. But I shouldn’t single out one…the whole cast of characters was wonderful and I hung on every word they said and every action they made. DEV1AT3 is an outstanding and refreshingly original sequel and work of fiction; and even in a genre crowded with incredible talent and content, Jay always finds himself near the top.
I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you NetGalley!!
This is the second book in the "lifelike" series. You should absolutely read that first to fully understand what is happening in this book.
This is a YA scifi/thriller/dystopian style read. I should have reread Lifelike before reading this one, as i did find myself confused and lost in a few areas.... and i'm unsure if that was the book/writing or if i would have better understood after reading the first book again to refresh my memory.
overall, the author is great, i'd gladly reread others by them. +
I was provided with an eARC of this novel in exchange for a fair review.
Oh. Em. Gee. This was SO GOOD! Not going to lie, when I first saw I’d been approved for this eARC I had a little mini-freakout. LIFEL1K3 was one of my favorite reads of 2018 and DEV1AT3 has been on my highly anticipated list since I fifnushed that!
First off, I LOVE that the focus of this book was less on Eve and more on Lemon, Cricket, and Zeke. We still had a little Evie, but she is def not the girl we knew from book one. Lemon is her usual sassy self and we see her delve further into her abilities, bolstered by those who are like her. Cricket’s storyline was great and we meet a new logika named Solomon who was HILARIOUS. Zeke was his usual cinnamon roll self, but we def got to see him grow up a bit. The story left us on a HUGE cliffhanger and now I need book three like yesterday! So. Good.
I really don’t know what to make of this one.
“Deviate” finds our group after the fallout of Eve’s discovery in book 1 and how her friends cope with her absence and it doesn’t take long for them to go their separate ways when a new enemy hunts for Lemon looking to use her ability to control machines for their own dark purposes, and with the Brotherhood on the loose she has to decide who she can trust before the final battle for freedom begins.
So when this started I was really excited thinking we’d get this fall from grace type plot regarding the Eve and Ana reveal but instead we get an entire side arc that I’m not sure is going to go any farther than this book. Eve was sidelined completely during a time where her POV was the one I wanted to read most and though I did enjoy some of the scenes with Lemon and the journey she underwent it wasn’t enough for me to care or at least care as much as I did in Lifelike.
I get what the book was trying to do in regards to some key moments but the set up between religion and science is kind of tired at this point when it’s such an easy conflict to raise and they even bring it back to a common argument seen now in terms of the evolution of a species but even then I’m not sure how far they’re planning on pushing it without it ending up being a Westworld vs. Avengers type showdown.
I really loved the Anastasia retelling but where that ended so did my desire to finish this off and despite the cliffhanger I think I might be done with this series as this book was the textbook definition of a filler that I’m surprised that wasn’t the title.
**special thanks to the publishers and netgalley for providing an arc in exchange for a fair and honest review**

Usually I would put a little synopsis in my review but since this is book two I will refrain so that if you haven't read Lifelike, it won't spoil it for you.
Let me tell you about this book. It was crazy! Plot twists came out of nowhere and literally ripped me a part!
The beginning is great as it reintroduces the reader to the characters once again and goes over what happened to them during book one. You don't see this often but it's always awesome to have a refresher.
When it comes to this series, you can expect that the writing style will always be unique with the choice of words the author uses which adds a touch of pizzazz and makes the characters pop. Lemon Fresh is a good example of this and is literally my number one!
The main characters are all pretty much struggling with their identity/feelings in some way. This is always nice to see and makes it easier to connect with the them on a deeper level. Caring for the ones you love is hard when obstacles are thrown in your way whether you are a robot or human.
Lemon Fresh has a lot going on and I was here for her story! She is at the top of favorite characters because she is fierce and loyal. I just want to squeeze her but I know she wouldn't like that, ha. I hope everything works out for her because right now I am not okay with how this book ended.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and the heartbreak that came with it. I will be impatiently waiting for book three and trying to cope with my feelings. If you haven't read this series yet, get on it! Jay Kristoff never disappoints.
First off I am so beyond grateful I was given the opportunity to get an advanced readers copy of this book.
Secondly, OMG this book has broken me!! I mean wow!! I can't wait for everyone else to read this and experience the roller coaster of emotions this book takes you on! This book has all the twists you just don't see coming.
I just love Lemon. She has to be one of my most favorite female characters that has ever been written! She's so fierce in her own way and I love how loyal she is to her friends!
I highly recommend this book to everyone!
