An absolutely gripping novel from start to end. The story of a girl, now a women, revisiting home where she once lost her best friend, facing her inner self and outer obstacles to find what truly happened years ago when she was a child and her best friend disappeared.
Twists and turns you will never see coming around every page in this great story of "Two Little Girls."
One of my new favorite books! This author has such a way with words the pages flew by in no time! I can’t wait to see the next work by this author! This was such a joy to read!
Two Little Girls is a psychological thriller that focuses on the disappearance of a little girl in 1985, and how her best friend is dealing with the aftermath in the present. The story was well thought out with lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing, however, there were a few points in the book in which I had to make myself continue reading.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
New author for me but pleasantly surprised. Thank you for the approval and look forward to a book relationship with other reads in the future,
This is one of the best psychological thrillers I’ve read this year. It’s completely gripping.
The story starts in 1985, with Lisa and Kirsty, best friends, doing all the usual things that ten year olds do. But it all ends in tragedy, and we don’t know what has happened to Lisa on that fateful evening.
Fast forward to present day, and Kirsty, who is living in London and trying to have a normal life after such an awful childhood.
When she returns to her home town, secrets begin to be revealed, and Kirsty needs to unravel the mystery of what happened all those years ago.
There’s such tension in this novel, such a sense of building up to something. It’s difficult to put down. This, coupled with such real and gritty characters, makes for a compelling, but so real, read.
With plot twists and turns, this is a book that will have you riveted. I had to just abandon everything when I got near the end. Totally un-putdownable!
Kirsty and Lisa are best friends. One argument in the park changes everything . Kirsty rushes home leaving Lisa in the park and Lisa is never seen again . Kirsty is consumed with guilt. Lisa’s mums lodger is charged with the murder the police put pressure on Kirsty when giving her statement. And the lodger who doesn’t understand he’s been arrested for murder thinks he’s been arrested over something else.
Thirty years later Kirsty’s sister announced she’s pregnant and want her to come back to the town where it all happened . Kirsty returns and this is where all the twists and turns begin. You believe it’s one person then another it keeps you hooked to the end
Two Little Girls is the first book I’ve read by Frances Vick. It centres around Kirsty, a woman who cannot escape the echoes of a traumatic childhood experience. As an adult she finds herself returning to her hometown and caught up in the mystery of her childhood best friend’s disappearance and assumed murder.
I found this book quite implausible and hard to enjoy. The characters were not well developed and the emphasis on tarot and pscychic gifts did not appeal to me.
A little hard to get into initially, but please persevere. A well worth reading thriller! Once I got past the first couple of chapters, I was hooked, and couldn't wait to find out just what had actually happened!
On the whole I thought this was a good story but there were some parts that I found to be difficult reading
A gripping, unsettling read. The plot was fast enough that I could have read it in a sitting, but I had to give myself some brain breaks due to the subject matter.
I have to admit, I was drawn to this book because of the cover, but am happy to report, the story is great, too! It's a creepy, atmospheric book that moves at a good pace and creates a sense of tension that persists until the end. Recommended!
An enjoyable read - I especially liked the flashbacks to 1985 and found it very authentic. Lots of twists and turns, I didn't guess the ending.
This story starts in 1985 and weaves through to present day. I thought I’d guessed the twist early on but I hadn’t. Enjoyed this but felt some of the characters weren’t as believable as I’d have liked. 3/5 on goodreads.
I hadn't read any of the authors previous novels but did enjoy this psychological thriller. It had good characterisation, plenty of twists and turns and a plot which kept me interested. I was drawn in from the beginning and was kept guessing until the end. I was surprised by the ending which I liked.
A great read that I can recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a book filled with twists and turns. A story about manipulation , imagination, and how things can changed so easily. The only thing i can say it went slow halfway but lucky the storyline kept me going through to the end.
A read that’s easy to get into and gripping. Highly recommended - particularly enjoyed the characters and dialogue.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and of course the author for this digital ARC in exchange for my unbiased review.
This book is a twisted psychological thriller and was a very enjoyable read!
First time reading this author, Frances Vick and I found it an easy and pleasant read.
Two young girls walking home from school Kirsty makes it home but Lisa is soon discovered to be missing. A short and somewhat dodgy police investigation results in a man arrested and sent to prison for murder - but have they got the right perpetrator.
Years later Kirsty returns to her hometown and almost immediately gets drawn into the past.
Although i guessed the twist beforehand it didn't deter me from finishing the book.
Worth a read.
Wow, Frances Vick is my new favorite author!!!What a great book this was!!! I can’t say enough good things about this book!!!
This book was about a woman’s quest to find out the truth about her best friends death from when she was a child. She was not convinced they had the right person. This woman will stop at nothing to find out the truth.
One thing I loved about this book was the main character Kirsty who cant get over her friends death was very passive at the beginning but got brave by the end in order to find out the truth. I also liked Angela/Marie as well because as the reader you were always try to figure out if you could trust her or not. The characters really made this this book. I also loved the plot. The plot made this book an easy and fast read. It was so enjoyable throughout the whole book. There were so many twists and turns that left you guessing on who to trust and who really killed Lisa. Overall, I would give this book five hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This was the first book I had read by Frances Vick and I really enjoyed it. The book opens with the introduction of two young girls, best friends Kirsty and Lisa. In 1985 Lisa disappears from a local park and she is found murdered. Kirsty, who was with Lisa, had an argument and left her there. She was the last person to see her alive and on her evidence a man is charged. Now over thirty years later, Kirsty is still feeling traumatised and guilty over Lisa’s death and having doubts about what she saw. She decides to move back to her hometown where she meets a psychic woman who says she can help her find out the truth, but then realises that she can’t trust anyone. I did find this book slow at times but pleased I persevered. An enjoyable read.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
