I am so addicted to this series! I am like an eager child waiting for each installment in this series about Detective Josie Quinn. This installment of the novel focuses on the murder of Noah's mother Colette. Noah is Josie's boyfriend as well as fellow detective. Josie and Noah discover Colette's body in her yard and it becomes quickly evident that there was foul play involved. Josie walks a tight line between comforting Noah and trying to solve his mother's murder. He starts to close Josie out and she is really powerless to help him especially with his pregnant sister helping to stir the pot. As usual this was a well crafted story with a nice twist at the end. The reader spends a lot of the book wondering if Colette was involved in something nefarious during her younger years or was she just another victim. What did Colette know that led to her murder and is Colette's murder tied with several other murders that occur rapidly though out the book? I guess you will just have to read this book to find out!
Wow,I have just finished The Bones She Buried and what an amazing, exciting read it was! I enjoy reading about Detective Josie Quinn so much. She is a strong intelligent police officer that gets more interesting every time.
This book is set around Noah, Josies latest boyfriend, and his family. At times I felt like stepping into the story and giving them a piece of my mind! That's how I know I've enjoyed a book so much, when I actually become part of it! Highly recommended.
Thank you NetGalley for my copy
I always have a weak spot for a good detective thriller series, and Detective Josie Quinn has quickly grown into one of my favorites. I have been enjoying spending time with his main character in the fictional city of Denton, and book number five is without doubt another excellent addition to the series. If you like your detective thrillers fast, intense and basically similar to crazy rollercoaster rides, you definitely have to try this series. What a ride! I wasn’t sure what else could be happening after all Denton and its habitants have already gone through, but Lisa Regan has another surprise in store and the plot intensifies. One of the reasons the series works this well is that the main characters are easy to like and connect to. Between this, the writing style and a gripping plot you will definitely want to free some of your time when you start reading The Bones She Buried. I like how we with each installment not only we are given a new intense investigation to follow, but we also see the main characters we've grown to love evolve over time. This means you'll have to read the books in order, but every single one has been a more than solid read so far and definitely worth your time. In fact: The Bones She Buried is one heck of an entertaining and intense ride and this time around things get personal once again. Things might be said about the credibility of certain aspects of the plot, but personally I was too busy enjoying my adrenaline ride to worry about it. I’m already looking forward to meet Josie Quinn again!
Detective Josie Quinn has quickly grown into one of my favorite detective thriller series. I like my thrillers fast, entertaining, suspenseful and action-packed, and every single book has delivered exactly that so far. The main character is easy to like and meeting up with Josie Quinn is like visiting an old friend. Things can be said about the credibility of certain aspects of the plot and the fact that a LOT seems to be happening in such a small town and within such a small group of people. But I have to be honest here and say I was far too busy enjoying the ride to really think about it. This is one of those series you will find yourself flying through and it will be hard to let go before you reach the final page. The Bones She Buried is another scorcher!
The Bones She Buried is book number five in the Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan. Ms Regan did an excellent job of peppering past information throughout that if you haven't read the first four stories it won't effect your reading experience. I have been with this series since the beginning and my only regret is that Ms Regan doesn't write faster and the story always ends too soon! Ms Regan gives her heroine (and reader) a case to solve and does an excellent job of also filling in the personal life of Josie, so we feel like she is an old friend. I was given an early copy to review.
As always, Lisa Regan writes a kicker of a story.
Josie has quickly become one of my favorite detectives in the Crime Thriller Genre. Josie is a great character, she has her flaws but she does her best to deal with them.
I really enjoy the dynamic between Josie and Gretchem, their friendship is very realistic and I enjoy their interactions a lot.
I felt that this was again very well written, though I do believe that one of the twists at the end came a bit out of nowhere and could have used some more build up.
The Bones She Buried reveals a fast-paced mystery with more twists than a mountain trail. Detective Josie Quinn is planning a quiet family dinner with her boyfriend Noah and his mother. When they find her face down with a mouth full of dirt, Josie seeks justice even when it brings her nothing but trouble. The department is down one detective so Josie works the case despite her close ties to the victim. Exploring each unexpected turn causes Josie and Noah to butt heads and puts their relationship in jeopardy. Each discovery brings more suspense as the missing pieces fill in for a shocking ending. With a plot that keeps you guessing and characters that worm their way into your heart, the story moves quickly to a satisfying ending. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
I have read every book in the series and I feel like this one may be the best yet! The shocking start gripped me straight away. The story is intense and there are lots of twists and turns that keep the story moving at breakneck speed. I found that I didn't want to put the book down until I had got to the very end.
Lisa Regan has done it again with another phenomenal detective novel featuring Josie Quinn. After reading Her Final Confession in December, I knew I wanted to keep following detective Josie Quinn's series. The Bones She Buried proved to be just as addictive with an intense and complex case of murders to be solved.
As I read this novel, I was certain I had it all figured out on several occasions, but turns out I didn't. It kept me on the edge of my seat until the final twists where family secrets and sins come to light. It's definitely action packed as Josie struggles to keep up and make sense of the different murders and torched houses. The author does a great job at building the plot gradually and making sure not to give too much too soon.
I love Josie's appetite to solve her cases. With this particular one, it causes friction between her and Noah when his mother is murdered but after being picked apart, they find their way back together.
Prepare yourselves for another wild ride as Josie, Finn and Gretchen try to solve the case and outrun the killers. As soon as I turned the last page, I knew I had to go back and start from the beginning and read the first three books in Josie Quinn's series. And I'll be waiting for the next installment in the series as well.
The Bones She Buried was my first Josie Quinn book and it did not disappoint !!
If I need a detective Josie is who I would want on my side.
There are so many facets here, the mystery of who was and did kill the people in town that all are somehow connected to each other. The family dynamic plays a big part in the book.
I was turning the pages quickly, I had to know what happened.
Thanks to Net Galley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read The Bones She Buried.
I am off to get Books 1 to 4 in the Josie Quinn series. Just love her.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of The Bones She Buried, the fifth novel to feature detective Josie Quinn of the Denton, Pennsylvania PD.
When Josie and her boyfriend, Noah Fraley turn up his mother Colette’s for dinner they find her face down in the garden dead, her mouth stuffed with soil. Treating it as murder Josie and the team find links to the Pratt brothers, one of whom is dead and the other the most famous missing person case in Denton.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Bones She Buried which is an exhilarating read, full of twists and turns. It is non stop action as Josie struggles to keep up and make sense of the developing events. I defy any reader to accurately guess the outcome as Ms Regan builds her plot gradually, not giving away too much too soon. It definitely works as I was hooked and then totally absorbed from start to finish. If you want to be a purist then the plot is highly improbable but to counter that it is very entertaining and that’s my main criterion when reading.
I like Josie and her appetite for solving her cases. In this instance it causes friction between her and Noah when his mother comes under suspicion. I know it’s unfair of me to judge him when he’s weighed down by grief but frankly he behaves like a prima donna, shutting Josie out.
The Bones She Buried is a good read which I have no hesitation in recommending.
There can be few things worse than finding the unresponsive body of a family member, especially if you are unable to save them. This is the nightmare Josie Quinn and her partner find themselves in when they arrive at Noah's mother Colette's house for dinner.
After another body is discovered killed in a similar way to Colette, Josie knows time is against her as she races from clue to clue trying to find the link and seemingly a step behind all the time. Add to this a new, temperamental boss who has put the most experienced member of her team on desk duty while the lead detective is at best a novice and it's clear Josie has her work cut out.
This is a fast moving, first class novel, the fifth in the series, and although I haven't yet read the previous books I definitely will be doing so as soon as possible. Josie is a great lead character but all the main protagonists are written with care and the ending was satisfyingly surprising. The conflict of investigating her boyfriend's mother's murder is handled very well and Josie and Noah work really well together.
I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to Netgalley and the publishers in exchange for an unbiased review and would recommend it highly to anyone who has read the previous books or enjoys good crime writing.
Yayyyy so here we are again back with the feisty detective Josie Quinn in book number 5 in this fabulous series and oh my it’s a goodie !! When Josie is faced with a case that’s very close to home as it concerns the murder of her partners mother she goes into it hell for leather as usual desperate to get to the bottom of it and as another murder happens things begin to get a lot more complicated. The story continues at a relentless pace with secrets from the past surfacing causing a lot tension between Josie and her partner Noah ( not to mention his sister !!) and the suspense just keeps mounting ending with a stunning conclusion.
Well Lisa Regan excels herself once more in writing a brilliant, compulsive and skilful police procedural and it was great to be reacquainted with the other members of Josie’s team this is a series that’s just got better and better and I sure do hope we don’t have too long to have to wait till the next book.
My thanks to NetGalley, the talented Lisa Regan and Bookouture for giving me the chance to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Police thriller looked at with a slightly different approach.Lots of twists along the way,a good familiar set of characters who interact as and resolution.
I was so excited to get a copy of The Bones She Buried (Detective Josie Quinn Book 5) as I had read the previous four books in this series and absolutely loved them all. Lisa Regan writes so well and keeps you hooked from the very beginning. I finished this book in one day!
I loved catching up on the story of Detective Josie Quinn, Noah, Gretchen and even Luke popped his head in some way through the book (I was not sure where that was going to go). I did miss the unusual family that Josie has around her, such as Misty and her son, Trinity to some extent as they did not feature very much in this book, but all the same I really enjoyed reading it. The twists and turns that each investigation led to kept providing more questions than answers initially but it was all tied up beautifully. The ending again crept up on me as I did not know who was responsible for the murder of Noah's mum, and other characters in the book. I love that in each book Ms Regan can keep me guessing. Although I try not to jump ahead and would rather just follow the storyline anyway.
Lisa Regan is on my list of very favourite authors, up there with my other one David Baldacci, and for me that is saying something. He is my all time favourite who I have read for years however Lisa Regan is a very close second for me most definitely. I will definitely be keeping an eye out on Lisa Regan's future releases.
Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and Lisa Regan for the opportunity to read and provide this honest review.
Josie Quinn is one heck of a detective but when it comes to her personal relationships what a mess.
It's been 4 years since Josie's cop husband Ray went dirty and was murdered. Since that time she was engaged to Luke who worked for the state police but he also betrayed both her and his badge. She then started dating fellow cop Noah Fraley. Noah's mother has never really warmed up to Josie but she continues to try with her and that included going to her monthly dinners with her kids. What Josie and Noah didn't expect to find when they arrived at her house was her dead in her garden. It didn't take long to realize she had been murdered.
This kicks off one heck of a police investigation that goes back to the 70's and coinciding with Josie and her team's investigation are more murders that are obviously to cover up whatever happened a long time ago that Noah's mother must have had evidence on.
For every thread they pulled in the case it lead to another and with the bodies piling up of potential witnesses the suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat till the very end.
This series has always been shocking and exciting at the same time. It's also very unconventional in the romance department. Josie is certainly not your average heroine. Even though her personal life stresses me out I do look forward to seeing where the author is going to take her next.
