WOW! I couldn't put this book down. It was so good and now I need to get my hands on book 2 now.
If you are into MC books then I highly recommend this one.
I found myself really enjoying this story.
Summer's innocence and positive outlook , mixed with Niyol's sour out look on life, was gold!
Niyol, is running putting as much distance between his MC and himself as possible. Taking the fall for a "brother," was what landed him in prison . He makes the decision to tun the tables on his MC and that is where the trouble starts. Needing to protect his step-mother and sister, he needs a ride, enter Summer. She is everything he is not and he can't help be a little attracted to that.
The banter was really great between them on their long road trip from Illinois to Cali. Summer put up with his brooding, even keeping to her schedule of stops along the way. You know what they say about the best laid plans...
This story really has all the makings for a great series. It is the perfect introduction to what I am sure will be a great series.
Drama, Romance, Danger and Love... Some things go unanswered so I am craving book 2, now!
A wild ride is what we get taken on from the very first page as we go on a cross country journey with Summer and Niyol that is filled with intense emotions and two people from two completely different worlds who have a chemistry that is COMBUSTIBLE! They shouldn't work together but somehow they just do. This is a great beginning to this series and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend reading this book and going along for the ride with Summer and Niyol . I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion of this book.
Betrayal, love and drama, the first story in the Red Dragon MC Series by Heather Van Fleet is a promising start. Her Wild Ride is the story of school teacher Summer Parks and MC member Niyol ‘Hawk’ Lattimore. The story and characters are engaging and I will be reading more
Bay boy Niyol is trying to run from his past in what he hopes will be save the ones he loves. Along the way he battles growing feelings towards the person who is driving him across country. Heather Van Fleet lays the ground work for danger looming in the background that Niyol keeps from Summer who agreed to drive her best-friend's brother across country as a favour.
Not even the best laid out plans work the way we want and Her Wild Ride drew me in wanting to know what else could happen for these two characters no matter how much they tried to fight it. From two separate worlds but pulled together with thoughts of wanting more and seeing if they would manage it together.
The brotherhood of an MC club and how sometimes its stronger then family has me wanting to know more about the Red Dragon MC and looking forward to the next book in the series.
**I generously received an ARC of this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review**
Niyol has just finished a 2 year stint in prison. He’s spent the majority of his life in an MC (motorcycle club), the Red Dragons. Niyol ratted on a fellow MC member (who happens to be his father, a real dick, AND the club president). So as soon as he’s released, Niyol knows he needs to get the hell out of town before the Red Dragons come for him. He also sees it as an opportunity to start his life fresh. His sister has a friend named Summer who’s driving to San Diego, and Niyol is catching a ride with this woman he’s never met to get his new start.
Summer is 24, ridiculously gorgeous, a teacher, and is also looking for....a new perspective on her life.. She’s just off the heels of a bad breakup and feels lost. She was set to get married to her cheating POS fiancé Landon, but fortunately, she literally caught him in the act with another woman, and that was that. Summer is immediately attracted to Niyol, and he’s equally attracted to her, even though she’s very much NOT his type, and even though Summer is very much NOT wanting to be with another guy for...a while. Especially with such a fresh breakup lurking in the back of her mind.
But it turns into a long drive cross country. Especially in the beginning. Everything Summer does annoys Niyol. He hates her music, she’s talkative, and she’s too cheerful and optimistic. He’s got her pegged as a spoiled princess who’s had everything in her life handed to her on a silver platter. Niyol, meanwhile, is almost equally as annoying to Summer. Broody, too sexy for his own damn good, sulky. Yet the attraction between them is white hot, and it’s only a matter of time before the sparks between them combust. Plus, the more time they spend together, the more they realize their first impressions of each other were only skin deep.
There’s much more to the story than just the ride to San Diego. Feelings become involved, club intrigue and other drama occurs (but no spoilers from me!). And the real question is - can these two, who come from such different worlds, make things work?
I enjoyed this book so much more than I’d expected. I really liked Summer, I thought the book was well written, and although at times I wanted to smack some sense into Niyol, I liked him too. I would definitely read another book by this author. And I’d love to read more books about some of the other smokin hot Red Dragon MC members.
Just in case you’re wondering, there was no cheating, and there was a HEA.
"Her Wild Ride" Heather Van Fleet
My first time reading that author.
I liked it a lot!
Well written, interesting, hot and steamy... Good chemistry between the characters...
It's got everything, a cute girl, a sexy bad boy, love, sex, a road trip...
A really good romance for adults.
And beautiful cover! Caught my eye right away!
I knew I was going to love this book because just the title and cover made me think of Sons of Anarchy.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this book. This is my honest review. All opinions are my own.
Well then, this was a NEW to me author and books! And I gotta say I LOVE BIKER ROMANCE! It's probably on the top 3 favorite ones!
This is a bad boy who is alpha and at times an a-hole. Then he meets the sweet nice girl whom he has an instant attraction to. They can't help but want to be together despite everything else around them. Oh did i mention he just got out of prison?! Yeah! When the heroine decided to drive him where needed to, things get interesting the least. It was really fun to read these characters, the action, the swoony hero, the danger and the oh so passion!!
For a first read, I really enjoyed this book!
I am rating this a 4.5 & recommend it!
HAPPY READING!
A story about an MC? Of course I had to read that. I do know they often have a bad reputation and a lot of it is true, but it's also true that you should never judge a book by it's cover. There is that genuine brotherhood and it's kind of special to know there will always be someone to look out for you.
It's the first book of a new series and that takes a bit of time to get into. The start is a bit slow but there is enough information to keep you interested. The biggest part of the romance is in the beginning of the book in my opinion. Although there is some left for the rest of the book too, so don't worry, the action takes place in the second part of the story.
I liked the story that grew between Niyol and Summer, but I loved the MC part.I am curious to know how it will develop and I have a feeling the MC will play a bigger role now. I hope I am right :). Looking forward to a big dose of badass. :)
Anyway, the more the story grew on me, the more I was captivated. 4 stars for this one.
Thank you, Heather Van Fleet, Bookouture and Netgalley.
Niyol is an ex-con who is leaving his MC behind after narking out the Pres for an early release from prison. Summer is the talkative BFF of Niyol's sister who agrees to drive Niyol cross country to California. Summer agrees to the drive to get away from her emotions from her cheating ex-fiance.
Niyol is a jerk. Given his childhood, it's not a surprise. Summer is a people pleaser as she's always coming in second with her relationships. I liked the inner dialog Niyol has with himself about being a jerk with Summer and how he fights his attraction. Summer has quite a bit of self-awareness yet throws all of that aside with her actions with an 'oh well' sort of attitude.
The action in the book was good and definitely picked up later in the book. I struggled believing that Niyol was 'running' from his club as he and Summer lollygagged on their roadtrip. It was only after Niyol felt like someone was watching him when they camped that the 'danger, danger Will Robertson' portion of the story truly started.
I did enjoy that both characters are willing to compromise to fit into each others' worlds. The very ending felt a bit rushed to get Niyol and Summer well on their way to HEA. The author could have slowed that piece down given that there are unanswered questions with Niyol's father which should arc into the next story.
I will continue the series.
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this story.
BOOK REVIEW
My first foray in to the MC genre of books. The MC stands for Motorcycle Club which I to look up. Take a bad boy Niyol aka Hawk and a pretty girl Summer add sexual tension on a road trip and you get a pleasing read. As the book progresses the sexual tension heats up as they travel together within the confines of the car. Both are leaving bad things behind and searching for a bright future. Something many people do during the course of their lives. It's not an easy journey they take and you find yourself rooting for them to see past the bad bits and bring about a satisfying ending to their tale. The erotic scenes are tackled quite nicely with enough left to the imagination to scintillate you. Too much detail can be off-putting and not gel with the story the author is trying to tell. Of course you know there is trouble to come and the need to know what keeps you flicking pages. At one point late on I thought the story was finished but that was just a tease from the author leaving me pleased that there was more left. If you want a pleasing easy read to fill those hot summer nights then look no further than this book. More bite and substance than Mills and Boon.
Summer is in need of a getaway! Her hard work as a middle school teacher is going to start again as soon as summer vacation ends! She offers to drive across country to California (because she wants to see the Pacific Ocean) and to take along her friend’s stepbrother, Niyol. The ruggedly handsome Niyol just happens to be an ex-con and has to get away from dangerous members of his old motorcycle club. Their trip is a long one and it will be hard for the two to remain friends as they are deeply attracted to each other. Sizzling is the description in the title and that’s exactly what you get in this book! Great characters, who are likable and realistic make this a fun read for those who like good girl/ bad boy stories. Four stars for this book!
Thanks to Bookouture for allowing me to read and review this book.
Summer is planning a road trip to California, every mile and stop planned out, her best friend asks her if she’ll give a lift to her step brother a member of the local not so legal motorcycle club. Summer agrees.
Summer a cheerful chatty optimist is the complete opposite to her passenger a surly and uncommunicative rough man. Niyol (sorry hated that name) is attempting to separate himself from the club, fed up of all the illegal activities and violence.
So starts an explosive journey where everything goes awry except the development of their relationship, good banter starts between them with obvious strong attraction the relationship developes and deepens very quickly.
Whilst I enjoyed this story I did feel the ending was rushed and had some difficulty understanding Niyols behaviour, that said an easy good read.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.
I received this book as an arc from Netgalley.
Will they? Won't they? They will, hold on...they won't. So much back and forth.
I understand it was needed to progress the story the way the author wanted it to go, but I thought the tornado was a bit much.
Where do i start?
This book was the first I've read from this author and it sure won't be my last.
It took me a few days to read more because i wanted to stretch it out because i didn't want to let these characters go.
Niyol and Summer was like chalk and cheese, oil and water you get what i mean, Niyol was a biker and Summer was a teacher who also taught cheerleading but when they was together they was explosive.
Niyol i bloody loved, he blew hot and cold but there was just something about him that drew me in.
Summer she was fiesty, had her moments but they was all accounted for really.
The whole book was great, i feel like i traveled a long journey with these characters and really got to feel them out!
I can't wait to see if more comes of this series!
❤
I absolutely loved the Reckless Hearts series by this author and couldn't wait to dive into this new series even though I'm not a big fan of MC sagas so it says something that I found this read kept me on the edge of my seat and up all hours of the night. Niyol is not your typical MC gang/brotherhood kind of guy and pairing him up with Summer who is as different from him as you can get kept the plot intriguing and interesting. I always enjoy when there are underlying stories regarding the secondary characters so I'm hoping that we get more from this group--there are definitely some unanswered questions. Will be excitedly waiting to see what Heather has in store for us in the future. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Her Wild Ride was a good read with well-developed characters and lots of action. Could Summer and Niyol be any more different? The chatty girl, doctor's daughter suffered from losing her mother at birth and from an absentee father but otherwise, life hasn't been too hard. The biker legacy hasn't known much nice and no normal in his entire life. Niyol's first reaction to Summer is a "she's the one" type of moment yet you'd never know it as their story starts.
The recently released ex-con and the sweet, middle school teacher are driving from the midwest to San Diego together. The fact that Summer ever breaks through Niyol's gruff exterior is quite a feat. He's broody, quiet, unpleasant. She's persistent and soon has his icy exterior melting. The trip is rife with obstacles which give the two more time and more reasons to get to know each other.
The return to their "normal" lives becomes another, very serious, obstacle. Can these two ever make their relationship work given their vastly different lives.
Oddly, the situation that I think most good girls would find insurmountable actually convinces Summer she's willing to do whatever it takes to keep her man. I'll admit, I struggled a bit with that plot twist.
The book was enjoyable the characters interesting but the action bordered on over-the-top. I still enjoyed the book though.
**Fantastic Story**
First off, this is not your typical MC read that centers around club characters and old ladies. Instead, this is a slow burn romance built between two people with an MC twist...but it's okay because it's definitely worth a read by any MC fan. This is the story of Niyol, ex-con running from his MC who he believes is out for his head, and Summer, the girl tasked with driving Niyol across the country to start over in a new place. While there is sexual attraction and tension right from the start, Niyol and Summer do everything they can to act like they can't stand each other. But there's only one thing that can happen when a road trip between two hot and sexies hits all sorts of road blocks - the layers start to peel away and their true personalities start to show and, voila, they just fit together in a way they didn't think possible. The characters themselves, even the minor background players, were well developed.. The MC comes back into play more in the second half of the book and once it does the action and drama is so good and complements the angst and romanticism that was built in the first half. And then, holy hell, plot twist!!! My stomach was in knots and my emotions were on a rollercoaster throughout this entire book. It's definitely one I would recommend and I cannot wait for the next installment! (P.S. - Please tell me there will be a next installment!!!!)
"He had a certain dominance to him, edged with a bad-boy sex appeal, and would no doubt give me the ride of my life if I asked him to."
This was my first time to read Heather Van Fleet. Of course, it was my MC Romance addiction that caused me to give her a try. I enjoyed the story, though I must say the 2nd half moved much faster than the first. But don't mind me, I was just ready to get out of the car and onto a motorcycle. I know that it was necessary for the author to lay some groundwork for the series going forward.
He's a bad boy and she's a good girl. But that doesn't stop them from being attracted to each other. The chemistry is there from the beginning. He's an alpha asshole in the beginning. But I guess that's understandable since he just got out of prison. I'm sure I'd be cranky too. Especially after learning how he ended up there.
Personally, I think she was crazy to agree to drive him. It makes good reading though, that's why I love reading fiction. The characters do things I wouldn't be brave enough to try. She's funny and quirky and holds her own with him. His rudeness doesn't get to her and she just dishes it back to him. I was especially amused by her making him listen to her choice of music on the radio.
As the story evolved the details regarding secrets and betrayals were revealed and shit got serious. The elements that I enjoy in a motorcycle club romance started emerging and I became more invested at the end. Though it's not a cliffhanger, there are still unanswered questions that the following installments will address.
I really loved this - much more than I thought I would. Full review going up as part of the book tour but it's a good read, lots of tension and drama with a steamy love story in the middle too.
