Nora is a middle aged acting professor who helps her CIA husband on missions. For someone not trained, she apparently has skills like she’s been trained to be a spy...it’s all a bit unbelievable. It was easy to figure out most of the plot well before it was revealed but the writing just didn’t grab my attention. The book was fine enough but not one I’d actively recommend.

"The Devil and the Deep Blue Spy" eBook was published in 2019 and was written by Tom Savage (http://tomsavagebooks.com). Mr. Savage has published 12 novels. This is the fourth in his “Nora Baron thriller” series.

I categorize this novel as ‘R’ because it contains scenes of Violence. This continues the story of Nora Baron who has joined her husband at the CIA.

This story is about their first mission together. A person of interest, Frenchman Claude Lamont, is taking a Caribbean cruise with his second wife. Nora and her husband are asked to join the cruise and keep an eye on Lamont. Lamont is thought to be funneling large sums of money to terrorists. The CIA thinks he will be making contact with someone on the cruise and the Barons are there to find out who.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 5.5 hours I spent reading this 203-page mystery/thriller. This is not an action-filled thriller, but more of a mystery. The plot takes a few twists and turns to end up in a different place than you first might expect. I have now read three of the four (“The Woman Who Knew Too Much” & “The Spy Who Never Was” earlier) Nora Baron novels and have enjoyed them all. If you like a good mystery/thriller without a lot of violence, then you will enjoy these novels. I give this novel a 4.4 (rounded down to a 4) out of 5.

This is the fourth book in the Nora Barron series and already I felt at a disadvantage, I did not read books one through three and the story read like I walked in on the middle of something. Nora and her CIA husband Jeff are on a cruise to keep surveillance of a Frenchman and his wife. While the descriptions of the location are amazing, I found the book to move too slow for me and it kept losing my interest.

Another worthy entry in this series. Jeff and Nora are not as great as Nick and Nora Charles, from the Thin Man series from Dashiell Hammett, but they are not as booze soaked either. A tightly written plot and interesting locations.

The Devil and the Deep Blue Spy by Tom Savage is a fun read. It is a cozy mystery with a CIA couple on a cruise ship. I love the idea of a cozy with a CIA spin. The story is well done but it moves a bit slowly. Overall, a great read. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

This is my first Nora Baron book although I have read other books by Tom Savage. The Devil and the Deep Blue Spy did not disappoint. I loved Nora's character. She is funny, strong, and true to life. All the characters in the book were well developed. The plot kept me turning pages to the very last one. This was an enjoyable book. I received this ebook free from NetGalley for an honest review.

Thanks to Netgalley for this advanced copy.

This is the first time I have read a book by author Tom Savage and I am impressed.
The story revolves around middle age couple Jeff and Nora Baron who take first class Caribbean cruise and are also undercover CIA agents. They have to shadow Claude Lamont and his wife and find out more about the guy name Diablo,

Jeff is trained CIA agent where as Nora is actress, professor and part time CIA agent when Jeff needs help. The book is fast paced and how Nora solves the puzzle of Diablo forms the story.

I loved Nora's character and look forward to reading more book in the series.

It had been quite a long while since I’d read Tom Savage, but as a teenager, he was one of my top favorites. Many, many years later, I found I still love his writing style.

This story is about Nora Baron, international espionage, and missing money.

New to this CIA business, things seem to go awry for Nora and she often needs to ask for help. This mission, she gets to go on “vacation” with her husband.

A wild ride I don’t want to give away. Just know I didn’t want to stop reading and I’m ready for the next book!

The Devil And The Deep Blue Spy by Tom Savage reads as a spy novel set in the Caribbean. It doesn’t have the over the top action that so often leaves the reader exhausted by the end of the book. It does take us along with Nora Baron, a wife and drama teacher, and her CIA agent husband on an unexpected adventure on a Caribbean cruise. The author does a fantastic job of interweaving the development of the characters and some interesting plot twists into a story that keeps the readers engaged and guessing to the end. The story is well-plotted and moves at a good pace. This is the fourth book in the north barest they are in series. I’m going to read the first three books soon.

Thank you to Net Galley and Random House Publishing Group-Alibi for an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I attempted to read this book. After reading 20 pages I found myself wanting another book. I may give this author another chance by reading something else written by him.

Another fun and scary spy story with a husband and wife working for the CIA. Lots of twists and a number of suspects as they travel the sea from island to island looking for a murderer and drug lord. Some very lovable charters and some very scary ones. A great story for everyone- not just a chic book.

I've enjoyed this series since the beginning. The books are easy, quick reads with engaging mysteries and plots, and the characters are enjoyable. I like that there is not anything graphic about them - they are entertaining spy thrillers without all the blood and guts that accompany so many in this genre. This one was, once again, a quick and easy enough read that was pleasant because it brought me back to characters I've enjoyed. But I must admit that I keep finding each of the titles to require a bit more of a stretch, believability wise, than the previous book - and that may finally have reached a head for me here. The construct is a pleasant enough one - a "normal" woman who finds herself enmeshed in her husband's Secret Life as a spy turns out to have a knack for the job and finds herself occasionally drawn in when the CIA needs someone off their grid. But at some point, when the norm repeatedly out-spies the spies, the stories start to require a bit more suspended disbelief then I enjoy providing. The stories are still enjoyable - there's nothing wrong here, I'm just starting to feel like the series may have run its course for me as a reader.

The Devil And The Deep Blue Spy is the 4th book in Tom Savage's "Nora Baron" series.
Nora Baron Is Back!
The wife of a CIA operative, this mother and drama teacher has proven to be an asset to the CIA in the past. Nora's next top secret mission has her partnered with her husband. Jeff and Nora are to portray a typical middle-aged couple on a Caribbean cruise. They are to observe and report on a shady French businessman who's attracted the Company's interest, and his mysterious wife.
It's an easy assignment until it turns deadly.
A wild and crazy ride ensues!
An entertaining and fast-paced spy thriller with lots of twists and turns.

Jeff and Nora Baron are called on by Ham Green to take a high class Caribbean cruise. They are to watch Claude Lamont and his wife. Claude is to be meeting a man known as Diablo. No one knows what he looks like. As Claude and his wife, Carmen go in different directions, Jeff follows Claude and Nora stays with following Carmen. Things are not happening as they thought. Ralph, Jeff's assistant shows up and helps Nora out. The nam she was to contact has disappeared. Can this case get any stranger? Read to find out

Nora and Jeff are asked to leave for a cruise on the next day to watch a couple to see who they meet. Jeff is a professional agent, but Nora is an acting professor who sometimes assists in Jeff's mission. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher through Netgallery. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I liked the book, but I didn't find myself drawn in by the characters. I found this more of a fun read more than a thriller. It was a slower read for me. I would give this book a rating of 3.5 stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and Random House for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this simple cozy mystery. Set mostly in the Caribbean, the story follows a couple who work for the CIA through an adventure following a suspected money launderer / terror sponsor on a cruise where he is expected to meet a contact.. When murder attempts are made against several of the suspects, the plot changes and we discover who the real villians of the book are.

A fun read, some surprises kept it from being too predictable.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.

This is the first book by Tom Savage that I have read. I was a little surprised to discover that it was more of a "cozy" spy novel than a real thriller. However, the book and its characters were fun and I enjoyed following the escapades.

This was a fun read! Middle aged, married couple who are also spies. There is much adventure and mayhem. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters of Nora and Tom and look forward to reading of their next adventures. Many thanks to Random House and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I enjoyed this fast-paced mystery. It was a quick read. Character development was a little lax and is dependant on being familiar with the previous books in the series. I am going to check out the other books in the series.
