Do you ever need that guaranteed book to make you smile? The one that delivers just what it promises? This is that kind of book.
It's a cute story about "one of the guys" who's really a girl. Addison has a tight knit group of friends who all just happen to be guys. She ends up developing chemistry with one of the boys when he returns home after being gone for a while. The friendship dynamic is challenged for both. They have to decide if the risk to the friendship is worth it and the risk to the dynamic of the friend group.
Honestly, at the beginning I wasn't expecting much from this book. Addison was a little too non girly and didn't seem to get that you can be one of the guys and still have a girlish side. It follows certain tropes and doesn't give you too many surprises in that. However, as the book progressed there was more character development than I was expecting. It's a fun book that is meant as just that. The friend group came alive. Addison also developed and also learned the value in having female friends that accept her for who she is. That was unexpected and enjoyable to watch develope.
All in all it was a fun read that delivered just what it promised. It's a friend to lovers story and I would continue to read on if the author wrote more about this friend group and we got to catch up with Tucker and Addison in the future as side characters.
This was a cute novel -- a bit overwritten and overly complicated in some parts, but overall a fun read. I thought the relationships were well developed and liked the location. Based on this novel, I might pick up the next book by the author.
Friends to lovers, one of my favorite tropes! This book had a great blend of humour, friendship and emotions that I was engrossed from beginning to end. The characters were well developed and the secondary characters had enough personality to add humour and interesting relationship dynamics to the story. While this was the first book by Cindi Madsen that I've read, it shall not be the last, and I truly hope that the other group members will get their own stories as well. Overall, a very enjoyable story. * I received an ARC from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Thank you NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a pretty good friends to lover romance. It was a little bit of a slow start for me. Addie is just one of the boys not very comfortable being a girl. Not, so sure she knows how These group of friends meet again when one of them is getting married and she is asked to be a "groomsmen" Addie is closer to one of the guys, Tucker than she is to others. These 2 begin to spend more time together and realize that they are sexually attracted to each other. I was a little disappointed in the fact that Addie had so much self doubt and many of her close circle fed into that. You can be one of the guys and girlie too. It's called being comfortable in your own skin. Its a quick read and does have some funny dialogue.
The book as a bit slow in the beginning but, the I stuck with it. The two main characters, Addie and Tucker, have grown up with each other and know each others secrets. Addie has always been "just one of the guys" in her group of close friends. William Shepherd is getting married and has asked Addie to be in the wedding - as a groomsman only she will need to wear a dress. Addie is reluctant to try wearing a dress, but will do anything to see one of her closet friends smile / on his blessed day of marriage. Tucker quits his job in the city and decides to move back to his home town - to be closer to his buddies and Addie. He has missed the closeness he always shared with Addie.
Addie has been introduced to the dentist - to date due, to he is the only eligible male that is single and around her age. The problem is that her buddies see him as a leech - someone who only looks at Addie as a conquest - to bed her. Tucker finds himself wanting to check the dentist - punch his lights out due to the way he looks at Addie. Addie is afraid that she will always be "just one of the guys" and never find a partner to love, marry and settle down and have children with.
Tucker is afraid to fall in love unless he has all his finances in order - he believes his parents broke up over this reason. What he learns though is love waits for no one. When it's real you make adjustments, and do everything you can to keep the love going, Tucker learned the hard way... and it almost cost him his happiness and Addie.
Please read the story and enjoy the journey.
This book was well written and had me at first read lol. I felt as if I knew these characters. Addie is best friends with many guys but is in love with one of her male best friends. The friendships and romance were interwoven perfectly. This was my first time reading a book by Cindi Madsen and it won't be my last. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this beautiful book.

This was a decent friends to lover romance. Addie is a tomboy with a close relationship to several childhood boys. She's especially close to Tucker who is now back in town for one of their friends wedding. Things get more serious between them when Tucker realizes he's sexually attracted to her. This novel would have been great if it weren't for the fact that 50 percent of the time Tucker has to remind Addie about how sexy she is and she has to deflate all the comments about her being less of a girl. Her relative even asked her if she was lesbian. Just ridiculous. And it took away from the story because she was self conscious about her appearance and her appeal to Tucker.
I just wish she was more confident and that those around her didn't question her appeal. Tomboy doesn't mean unsexy or gay.
Addison Murphy is pretty awesome. She's a lady and everyone seems to forget that.
Now, in their tight knot group of friends, she's a groomsman. She's comfortable in her skin, and comfortable with her skills.
Tucker sees Addison and would like to pursue her.
Things are bumpy, though and he kind of blows it.
Will she give him a second chance?
Tucker has a lot to make up for....

This is a classic best friends fall in love. We all have that one friend we grow close to and wish there could be more, but are so afraid of taking that chance and losing the friendship we have. This is what this book is like. Some of the feelings are retold which can get a bit old, but all in all it was a good read. Lots of emotions from both ends of the spectrum were used as well.
This was a feel good friends to lovers, the growing up pain when things change and what to do about it. I loved the story, the commradery of all the "guys" and most of the events.
There was the emotional turmoil which got rather old after repeating a few times and it loses my interest when all the mind thoughts take over, getting nowhere, so I may have skipped a few pages, but that may be my impatience.
This was about Tucker and Addison as the mains, but had a lot of Shep and Lexi with their wedding being planned. Addison and Lexi became friends, so all around I liked that those two got to be good female friends, something new and good for Addie.
There was a lot of humor infused throughout, which I love, and always adds goodness to anything.
I received an ARC thru NetGalley and am giving my honest thoughts freely
I have never read a Cindi Madsen book, but this will not be my only one. I loved every minute of this fun story. The chemistry between Tucker and Addie had me not wanting to put the book down. I also loved the side cast of characters. This group of friends seems like a group I would love to have. Small town charm and lots of fun! I hope there are more books in this series because I would love to visit Uncertainty, Alabama again!
I really enjoyed this story! Cindi Madsen is a new to me author & I will be reading more by her. I love her breezy way of writing & conveying emotion without being heavy handed. She managed to perfectly describe their bunch of friends & express the feelings of family that I sensed about them. It really illustrated the guilt they both felt about possibly crossing the line & if it would change the groups dynamics. What I loved the most was the relationship that developed between Lexi & Addison. Lexi started out with the bewilderment & suspicion that most women would have felt. The trust she gave to both Shep & Addison really moved me. It would have been easier to demand that Addison not be part of the wedding. This book was completely about relationships & the emotions they put you through.
Addison is the perfect tomboy fitting in with the rest of her gang. She’s just “one of the guys”. She loves the town she lives in & being there for her friends & family. She really loves her career, just not where she works. She’s stuck in a rut in all ways, including dating. Living in a small town limits the number of single eligible men that she is exposed to.
Her best friend & conspirator, Tucker, just moved back into town. After law school, he’d taken a job with a big firm & ended up disillusioned & burnt out. After quitting, he moved back & looked at Addison with new eyes. Should he make a move or respect the lines that have always been unconsciously drawn? After what happened between his parents, Tucker didn’t want anything serious until he was in a certain financial status. Doesn’t he know love never strikes when you’re ready for it?
Can your best friend become your boyfriend? Can you cross that friend to lover line and still be friends? These questions are asked and agonized over in Just One of the Groomsmen. Addie has been one of the guys since she was in grade school. Four guys, one girl, best friends for their whole lives. No one wants those dynamics to change. No one want their friendships to cross over into awkward. Friend? Lover? More? Read and find out! Great Read!
Just One of The Groomsmen was sweet, but ultimately it felt forgettable. I liked the book fine, but I didn’t feel that there was anything that really stood out to me to help me remember it a month or two down the line.
The book is a friends to lovers story featuring Addison Murphy and one of her childhood best friends Tucker Crawford. Their romance was cute, however, I found it predictable. I also didn’t really feel any chemistry between the two of them reading this story.
One thing that I did love in this story, however, was the relationship between Addison and Lexi. Too often, authors turn the friend's fiancé into someone mean and insecure. While Lexi had her moments of doubt regarding Addison and Shep’s friendship, she ultimately got over it and despite her fears became friends with Addison. Truthfully the development of their friendship was one of my favorite aspects of this story.
While I enjoy Cindi Madsen’s work, this was not my favorite but I think I will still read more from her in the future.
This is the first book I have read by Cindi Madsen and I enjoyed learning about a group of Alabama friends. I could identify with Addie as just 'one of the guys' and preferring yoga pants to dresses. The relationship between Addie and Tucker was at times heart wrenching as the tenderness of their history was revealed. I chose to view this as a sweet romance and skipped over graphic descriptions and language which I felt were a detriment to the positive aspects of the story. I liked the content of Addie and Tucker's character and want to see more stories about the rest of the group. I felt like there was a great teaser for more and look forward to it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions express in this review are entirely my own.
I haven't ever read any books by this author and I am happy to say I will definitely be reading more from Cindi Madsen in the future. This is a quick and easy read with a HEA. It's a heartwarming story of friendship, love, romance and fun. The author creates creates who are believable, real and sincere. Don't miss this wedding with a twist story.
Just One of the Groomsmen is another fun read from Cindi Madsen! Addison is just one of the guys, part of a longtime group of guy friends, who have been together since grade school. When one of them announces his engagement, she is included as one of the groomsmen, but she'll have to be dressed as a bridesmaid! Not being a girly-girl, this doesn't set too well with Addie, but she plays along.
Returning to town for the festivities is Tucker, who had moved to the city to make money as a lawyer. After visiting briefly, he decides to move back permanently. Much to his surprise, seeing Addie as more than just "one of the guys", his feelings for her change and his attraction grows. She has the same reaction to him.
Much of the novel consists of them fighting their attraction in an effort to not mess up the gang. It does bog down and get a little tedious and predictable, a typical novel. Ms. Madsen does bring it together in the end and creates a satisfying ending.
Thank you to the author, Entangled Publishing, LLC and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion.
Cindi Madsen's Just One of The Guys is the story of friends growing up in Uncertainty, a small Alabama town. When one of them decides to get married he asks his friends to be groomsmen, including Addison Murphy. One of the guys, Tucker Crawford has just returned to Uncertainty. As Addie tries to be part of the wedding and Tucker starts noticing that Addie isn't just a "guy" all kinds of alarms start going off in the close-knit town. Not only Addie and Tucker's personal alarms but those of the town gossips as well. Good Rom-com book and I would recommend it.
A sweet story, engaging and entertaining.
It made me laugh and root for the well developed characters.
I look forward to reading other books by this author.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
This is a cute love story about a girl growing up in a small Alabama town, friends only with a rag-tag team of boys. Eventually, she realizes love has been staring at her for most of her life. The premise of the story is sweet, and the character progression in the story was well written. Both Addie and Tucker's characters are relatable and you find yourself cheering for them. This trope is my favorite, I really liked the characters, and I so wanted to love this book. However, I hate third person POV in romance books as I never feel fully connected to the story and characters. And at times, the story began to ramble and repeat the same interspective monologues over and over, so much that I could flip several pages and the character was still in their head before continuing with their actual dialogue. It took away from the chemistry that was building between Addie and Tucker as well as the other relationships Addie was building with her family and new friend. For these reasons, this book only gets three chilli peppers of hotness.
