Great romantic read with low drama. Fast paced novel with a great build world. Perfect read for an afternoon. Arc provided by Netgalley
Holy Hell! Cherrie Lynn knows how to rock a steamy book. Rock Me is up there as one of the hottest read! I love a good story about a bad boy who falls for the sweet girl-next-door, who also has a wild side that she didn't know she had! And that is exactly what Brian and Candace have. The connection between these two is powerful.. It tells the story of the struggle for Candace to push against her family and the Brian journey from irresponsible black sheep to tattoo business owner and trusted partner.
UGH...what year is this?
First off, everyone goes ballistic in this story over a tattoo? If this story was supposed to take place decades ago, then the alarm, distaste, panic and embarrassment over a tattoo would make sense. But come on! Multiple sets of parents in this book view a tattoo as the worst thing their child could do.
Second off, going along with the time frame issue. Who the heck still goes to a movie rental store???? Do those still exist? I would have rather seen the main characters meet at a restaurant, grocery store, park, etc... It would have been more relateable.
Third, how immature and whiny can one character be?

Rock Me by Cherrie Lynn was such a good read! The good girl, Candace Andrews, ready to break free from her constraints and live life her way, but at what cost? Candace has always done what was expected of her and she had had enough. On her birthday, she decides to get a tattoo and goes to her cousin’s ex to get it. What she did not expect was the sparks to fly when he touches her. But when all hell breaks loose with her family, what is she to do?
I loved, loved Brian. He was the tattooed and pierced man her family hated, but he was all heart. I loved how determined he was to keep her in his life, even when he did not think he was good enough. There journey was not an easy one, but it was heartwarming and captivating! Rock Me is a story about love, family, learning to let go and taking chances. Such a great read!
Happy reading!
Love this story! This IS a reprint but is definitely worth your time if you haven't picked it up yet. Can be read as a standalone even though technically book 2 of the Ross siblings series. Awesome read about a bad boy who's maybe not so bad and a good girl who just can't stay away from him.
This one sounded right up my alley but nope, not for me. I did not especially like either of the main characters but Candace is the worst. All of the conflict is pretty juvenile and resolution to it is out of the blue and nonsensical. I have read other books by the author that I have enjoyed and am glad that this was not my introduction to her writing.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. This was a easy read, with a good storyline and strong characters I’m looking forward to more from this author. Would recommend
Candace just wants to live a little so she decides to get a tiny tattoo on her birthday from Brian, her cousin Michelle ex boyfriend and the guy she has been in love with for a few years. Brian is so happy that Candace came into his tattoo shop for him that he gives her his number “just in case she needs it” for her tattoo but Candace is a princess and he is covered in piercings and tattoos no way they could work out. Brian and Candace go through a lot just trying to make a relationship work but there are so many obstacles that Candace is running away and Brian just wants to fight it out. I love this couple together but her family will ruin them.
Yeah I could not agree with all the five star reviews.. I liked Brian well enough but did not care for Candace like at all. First she goes to get tattoo from Brian who she has liked from the beginning of her cousin Michelle's and Brian's relationship. She claimed that she loved this cousin and didn't want to hurt her yet knew how her cousin had loved him she throws herself at Brian getting hurt that he doesnt want to take virginity and she was waiting for him all along.. she goes back and forth she is supposedly 24 yet acts like a twelve year old...
was just looking back at the last dozen books I've read... and WOW what a line up... and this one is no execption!! I've had this book for quite a while, and had heard only great things about it. Well... they are all true... and more. It was a wonderfully written romance with just a hint of Romeo & Juliet style to it.
Brian Ross comes from the right family from the right part of town, but he's all wrong... or so the Andrews' family believes... all but of course, Candace... and her cousin Michelle. He is 27 and the youngest sibling in the Ross family, and falls outside the norm of young urban professionals in his age group. Brian is an artist. A tattoo artist actually. He is also a canvas... displaying many of his works of art in the form of various tattoos and body piercings. He is very talented, passionate, and successful in his business. He is also hot, as in the sexy bad boy variety. And he has caught Candace Andrews eye. He dated her cousin Michelle for a while, which is how they met... but that didn't work out, and he is now available... or so she hopes!
Candace Andrews is 23, and just finishing up her degree. She is blonde and beautiful, she's smart and energetic, and has everything in life going for her, except for her overbearing, controlling family. And I do not exaggerate. Her family has chased off every potential suitor she's had up to this point. She is still a virgin at 23, and not seeing an end to the dry streak she's seen in her love life up till now.
Now... it's Candace's birthday... and she's feeling rebellious! So, she decides to get a tattoo. A tattoo that her mother will never see, say, maybe in a private spot, only she can see. And of course the one who puts it there... Brian... yes!!! What a great way to connect with him again, now that he's single. And the story takes off from here.
The story is very sweet. Candace falls hard for Brian, almost on sight... or re-sight, since he caught her eye even while he was seeing her cousin. She knows her family would flip if she was seeing him, but she can't seem to stay away.
Brian on the other hand is a little harder to read. He is definitely happy to see Candace in his shop... and do her beautiful little tattoo! But he is wary at first about any connection between them... she was after all, perfect. And he... was well, not perfect. He gets her number.. and she gets his... and the rest.. just happens between them.
The romance is HOT! I mean SMOKING HOT!! He, of course is shocked at her virginal status which puts his feelings at a whole new level, and she's pushing hard to rectify that little bump in the road!! They move fast, but Brian slows it down a bit... making it special for her... which makes it mind blowing for him.. and they can't help but fall hard for each other. But all is not well.. they still haven't told.. THE FAMILY!!!
Brian and Candace face almost impossible odds with the family dynamics, and their relationship takes several major hits its the process.. but the awesomeness that is Brian prevails!!!! OK I'm spoiling... but the HEA here is so sweet... I highly recommend this book!!!
This was a nice book. It was a little odd how dates it was. I was surprised to read in the authors note how it came out in the 2000s. Who still had a water bed?! Anyway, I never like virgin tropes but thought this one was handled really well. It seemed very grounded in reality. The hero really made this book though.
I really enjoyed this! It kept my interest and for me there were no slow parts. I would definitely read more from this author.
Rock Me is book 2 in the Ross Siblings series from Cherie Lynn. I received my copy through NetGalley and am under no obligation to the publisher. I hit the request button quickly because I recognized the author. I realized about 5 pages in that I had read it before, but it hooked me again, and I read straight through. Ms. Lynn writes layered, complex characters, and the hero and heroine of Rock Me are extremely engaging. The premise sets the tone for the book, and the story that unfolds keeps the promise of the premise well.
The thing that I appreciate most is that the intimate scenes are well placed, plentiful and serve to move the story along. The Ross Sibling books each stand alone, so don't be afraid to read them out of order, you'll soon be watching for Cherie Lynn books too! I'm happy I've added Rock Me to my library.
Bad Boy Tattoo Artist
Would you go against your family and start seeing your cousin’s ex? You would if that guy was bad boy tattoo artist, Brian who is also the owner of his shop. He can’t be all bad if he owns his own shop, right?! Candace doesn’t think so. This is one hot romance that will have you turning pages as fast as you can.
A story of fighting for who and what you want. I was intrigued by the blurb of this story. Overall, however, the story, for me, fell flat.
Throughout the book I was trying to figure of how our main characters “fit” together, how they compliment each other. I had a hard time with their connection. I didn’t really feel anything for them as a couple be it good or bad.
One of my major issues is with Candace. I couldn’t connect with her and I did not understand the walls she put between her and Brian. Nor did I understand all the hoops he had to jump through. I don’t feel like Candace put forth the effort to be with Brian as much as he did for her.
I did really like Brian however. He stood up and fought for what he wanted. I was truly impressed.
I received an ARC via NetGalley of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
The story of Candace and Brian. She is a good girl, under her parents thumb. All that changes when she falls for Brian, a tatoo artist, disapproved of by her parents.
A fast paced and enjoyable read.
This had a bit of a taboo relationship to it. Brian is the ex of Candace's cousin. She has crushed on him since the day she met him. He should be off limits to her, but her cousin is now moved on and happy with a new man and Candace's crush doesn't seem to want to go away.
Candace has a pretty sheltered life. Her parents are demanding and keep her on a pretty tight leash. On her 23rd birthday she decides to rebel a bit and get a small tattoo. Who better to give her that tattoo than Brian.
Brian has been the black sheep of the family and while he has grown up and become a responsible adult, he still feels like that troubled teen with his family. He owns his own tattoo parlor and leads a pretty sedate life now. When Candace walks in the door for a tattoo she is a temptation he can't resist.
The attraction between these two were off the charts. You really felt how much they wanted each other. When things were good and they were together, I loved these two as a couple. Brian was intense and really brought the heat when he was with Candace.
What I didn't love was the constant back and forth from Candace. She let her family get in the way too much and too many times. If she didn't keep changing her mind, this wouldn't have bothered me so much. I also didn't like that she was the pursuer. I'm just not a fan of the heroine doing the chasing.
As much as I loved Brian, I didn't enjoy hearing about Brian's fond memories of his night with her cousin. That's just something I don't care to hear about when he should be thinking about the heroine. It only happened once, but once is too much when he was already in too deep with Candace.
As you can see, I'm a bit conflicted with their story. I loved parts of it, but struggled with other parts.
What a great book! Talk about instant chemistry. They liked each other for awhile but couldn’t do anything about it. Now that they could watch out. Family drama on both sides makes this a very enjoyable read. Will definitely be looking for more books by this author.
I still love this, but Candace drove me crazy with her back and forth. I also got a little irritated with Brian’s family. The things he did as a kid, he outgrew them and has made something of himself. Let it go.
