What a wonderful, moving story that will have the tears flowing down your cheeks! This book will have you experiencing love, loss, anxiety, heartache, and forgiveness, You will find yourself asking how a mother can handle such a devastating loss, whether justice will be meted for horrible behaviors, if such a magnitude of forgiveness is possible.

Once I opened the book, I was hooked and could not stop reading it. Though the story will be an emotional trip, you will also be filled with an amazing sense of compassion and grace.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I love books that are based on a single decision that could have so many different outcomes. Read in a single sitting. The Dixon’s live in rural Georgia where a music festival is being held in the summer of 1971. Over a three day period the family endures blaring music with shrieking crowds leading to frayed nerves and sleep deprivation. As the festival winds down Rachel Dixon forgets to lock her back door and wakes to find her baby missing from her crib.

Vicki Robart is attending the festival with her boyfriend after arriving from Kentucky. The last night of the event is getting stormy so they decide to head home. They are hungry after non-stop partying but find all the local stores are already closed for the evening. Desperate for food, they decide to loot one of the local houses. Vicki spots baby bottles in the kitchen and sneaks a bit further to view the child. In her weakened/crazed mind she believes that this is the baby she lost seven months ago and takes the girl from her home.

Emily Gone by Bette Lee Crosby is the emotional story of a family coping with loss. The book is told with the differing point of views from Rachel and Vicki while showing how each coped with this spur of the moment crime. The raw sensitivity and courage shown leads the reader to sympathize with both women. I look forward to Bette’s next novel.

Kidnapping stories are always a bit tough. However, Bette Lee Crosby's writing capability really shines in this book. This story is a double helix of the mother who wakes up to find their baby girl has been abducted and police have no leads on thanks to the unpredictable nature of the music festival that was in town; and the other side of the story of the woman who abducts the baby, whose mind is clouded with the illusion that this is her belated daughter. This book poses a few questions and is told in a remarkable fashion of story telling.

A very well written book full of emotional characters. This could be based on true events, though this book is not, taking the reader on quite a ride! Heart rendering characters who I felt connected to and cared about until the end. This is my first book by this author, but it's not my last!

Thanks netgalley for letting me preview this book for honest review.

I wasn't very impressed with this book, I had a hard time reading and comprehending the novel. Such a nonsense excuses for taking a baby, and he lets her keep it knowing it's not her baby. Knowing someone else is hurting. Very unbelievable.

Heartfelt, devastating and just an overall beautifully written story. A mother’s worst nightmare happens when her daughter disappears out of an act of desperation of another mother. This act in turn eventually gives a third woman a child she couldn’t have on her own. Then the truth is revealed years later breaking everyone’s heart and changing the lives they’ve known forever.

A wonderfully written book with wonderful characters. Every single one of them will pull at your heart strings. This book will capture you from the first page all the way to the very last.

"Emily, Gone" was my first novel by this outstanding, brilliant author, Bette Lee Crosby. Whilst the book looked 'reasonably promising' I was blown away and taken completely by surprise when I actually read it! This exceptional book raised many questions around themes of love, family, faith, and forgiveness. Exciting and unique, it really tugged at my heartstrings. The plot was so good that I couldn't put it down. This one will stay with me for quite some time.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel, at my own request, from Lake Union Publishing via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

I nearly did not read this book... the intro or first chapter or whatever you want to call it was really off-putting. It was so dry and not at all written in a style that I enjoy so even though the story may have been good I hated how it was introduced and nearly stopped reading right there and then.

I am so glad I ended up giving the book a real chance. Once the real story starts it is a very moving story centering around the kidnapping of a baby girl. Some chapters center around the mother Rachel Dixon and the rest of the family from whom baby Emmy was taken and others around Vicki who stole the baby and named her Lara. It is a very moving story that covers many years and how the affected all those concerned. There were many times where I had tears in my eyes while reading... I was so moved by it.

Emily Gone is my new favorite book by Bette Lee Crosby, but I say that every time I read her latest novel. I love this book it pulls at every emotion. The multiple viewpoints are well done and easy to follow. I love the characters and the writing style. I was hooked fro. The first page to the last. I was completely satisfied with the ending. Well done, i am anxiously awaiting the next book by Ms Crosby. Thank you to netgalley who gifted me the arc in ebook form, this review is my sole opinion.

What a pleasant surprise! I have never read anything by Ms. Crosby, and so I knew nothing about her writing style before giving this one a try. I thought that this was a good read from start to finish. Even though the story spans over several years and there are kind of two side by side plotlines, the story itself doesn't suffer from flipping back and forth because the author doesn't have any trouble maintaining the interest in these storylines. I thought the characters were well written and supremely empathetic, and I also enjoyed the storyline being from a different era. I recommend this novel, and I look forward to reading more by Ms. Crosby! Thanks so much to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book!

"A missing child sets the lives of three women on a collision course in this powerful and compelling novel by USA Today bestselling author Bette Lee Crosby.

1971.

When a music festival rolls through the sleepy town of Hesterville, Georgia, the Dixon family’s lives are forever changed. On the final night, a storm muffles the sound of the blaring music, and Rachel tucks her baby into bed before falling into a deep sleep. So deep, she doesn’t hear the kitchen door opening. When she and her husband wake up in the morning, the crib is empty. Emily is gone.

Vicki Robart is one of the thousands at the festival, but she’s not feeling the music. She’s feeling the emptiness over the loss of her own baby several months before. When she leaves the festival and is faced with an opportunity to fill that void, she is driven to an act of desperation that will forever bind the lives of three women.

When the truth of what actually happened that fateful night is finally exposed, shattering the lives they’ve built, will they be able to pick up the pieces to put their families back together again?"

What a thought provoking and heartbreaking book! I really enjoyed this one. Grab the box of tissue because you'll definitely need it! I look forward to reading more from this author!

The anguish of losing a child is all too real for Rachel. I loved how this story unfolded and was truly so happy with the conclusion. I appreciated having the different viewpoints so I wasn't only looking at one aspect but would definitely recommend this book.

This was just the book I needed to get me out of my reading slump. It was a heart rending story that kept my attention. I didn't want to stop reading it because I wanted to know what was going to happen. The story being told by different character's POV over a large timeline added to the richness. Crosby did a fantastic job of drawing me in and allowing me to experience all the feelings.
