This is Lord William Cavensham and Lady Theadora Worth’s story, book 5 in the Cavensham Heiresses series, a standalone, no cheating, happily ever after, historical romance, with lots of steamy scenes.
Both Will and Thea are strong characters, with interesting backstories. The build of a newfound friendship, to best friends, to love (lots of steam) is romantic and believable. The Cavensham family, who supports both Will and Thea with love and gentle nudge’s (meddling in some cases), are engaging and likeable.
Although, there was a moment in the story where I was disappointed in a decision that Thea makes, she redeems herself further on in the story. The gossip papers interjections did not add to the story in several instant’s and would have been impossible for the paper to “know” some of the “news” it was spreading or surmising. Because of this, my rating is more of 3.5 stars which rounds up to a 4. Still, a good read, and I look forward to more from this author.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

Already devastated by the death of the grandfather who raised her and was her only family, Lady Theodora Worth is even more distressed to learn she's in danger of losing the estate she calls home and the Scottish title of Countess of Eanruig she inherited. In order to face down the new duke and stand the best chance of keeping her home and keeping her tenants from being evicted, Thea must marry someone noble, and fast. Unfortunately, she was raised by her rather eccentric grandfather, isolated in the wilds of Northumberland, and doesn't know the first thing about being a proper lady or making a good match. Fortunately for her, her neighbor Lady Stella Payne is there to help Thea find just the right husband.

Since being left jilted and heartbroken years previously by a woman who wanted better than a duke's second son, Lord William Cavensham has sworn off love. However, his Great Aunt Stella has other ideas: marry her neighbor, Thea, or she'll disinherit him. Once he meets Thea himself, Will finds he might have other ideas too, unwilling as they may be, and finds he genuinely wants to help Thea. Though Stella is unlikely to make good on her threat, she does know Will and Thea need each other and she'll stop at nothing to see them together.

Will thinks Thea doesn't want him and Thea believes herself unworthy of the love of such a good man. This combined with Thea's need to make sure her tenants are cared for means chaos and misunderstandings abound. Neither of our main characters truly knows how to love so it was lovely to see them learn and grow. They were put into an impossible situation and this actually became a very emotional book and I was rather stressed waiting for their happy ending to work out. The final chapters were quite romantic and very well done. I'm looking forward to the next installment in the series.

Every now and then a good historical romance is just what is called for and Janna MacGregor never fails to impress.

Although I am not usually a big fan of a damsel in distress story (and this was a MAJOR case of distress) I absolutely loved the back and forth banter and the constant “will they or won’t they” that surrounded Theo and Will. I am in serious need of a Stella and Edith in my life!

The politics when it comes to heiresses in this era always gets to me and I do feel like Theo was grossly underestimated throughout the book, especially considering all that she had been through to this point, but I think her struggles were so important for the story when it came to the bigger picture and bringing the Cavensham’s into her life. There were so many feel-good moments that it was hard to read this book without having a stupid, sappy grin on my face. I know it was there….I could feel it.

The only thing that really bothered me when reading this was that I was expecting a little more….rogue-ishness. It isn’t even a complaint, because the book really didn’t need a typical rogue character, but the title really does imply something a bit more.

Overall, in true MacGregor fashion, Rogue Most Wanted was a thoroughly enjoyable and quick read filled with a slow burning romance, rejection, heartbreak and struggles in society. Throw in a meddling aunt, an unconventional family and a socially awkward heroine and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a rainy night read.

This isn’t my first journey with the Cavensham family and I truly hope it isn’t my last. I just love everything about this family and Rogue Most Wanted made me love them all even more! I wait to see where they take us next.

Girl needs to find charter declaring her title and/or marry someone with a title.
Girl meets boy with a title, who is also handsome.
Girl can't possibly marry boy, but is willing to marry any other boy.
Boy likes girl but doesn't want to tell her he likes her because he's had his heart broken before.

That's it. The end. I saved you nearly 400 pages.

The best word I can use to describe Rogue Most Wanted is "boring".

Nothing really happened, the conflict didn't really seem real, and the characters were annoying. I was super disappointed in this one.

Good premises for the book. Good overview of the Scottish Law versus the English Law regarding properties on that period. Good enough characters. At times it was difficult to find the connection between the leads. Someone else will see it but I just didn't.

I've read 3 other books in this series that I actually loved, but by this point I'm not being invested in the story as I was with the others. The main couple is an unlikely pair, that I haven't seen any type of connection yet at this point. I just can't continue, and the plot seems a bit far fetched for me.

Rogue Most Wanted by Janna MacGregor is a lovely romance with a complex look at the inheritance rules in Scotland and England built in. The characters are well developed and like able (and hatable). The plot has lots of twists and turns that keeps it interesting although a bit frustrating as it builds to the climax. Highly recommend it.

Janna MacGregor The Rogue Most Wanted
I received an ARC from Net Galley for my honest opinion: buy the book!
I have read all the books written by Janna and loved each one. Her stories are well–developed with suspense, romance and vivid scenes. They evoke, laughter, tears, frustration, and happiness. The characters are likeable – or not!
Lady Theodora Worth has lived quietly in Scotland, nursing her ailing grandfather. He bequeaths an earldom and lands to her. Upon his death, she is suspected of murdering him. Then the Duke of Ferr-Colby challenges her for the title and lands. In his dementia, her grandfather hid the claim document. So Theo must marry ASAP!
Lord William Cavensham is not interested in marriage. (He was jilted years ago.) His aunt encourages him to rescue Theo with marriage. Neither like that idea! But events unfold and they work together to defeat the Duke.
I have mixed feelings when I reach the end of Janna’s books: satisfied and sad. Satisfied about the ending and sad that the book is ended. But then I look forward to the next book!

(My review has also been added to Goodreads.)

It has been a while since I have read from this author and I was happy to be reunited with the Cavensham's and most especially with Claire (the bad luck bride) she was from the first book and I hope you are keeping up with the series because it just explains who is who more and how they have been there for each other. This was Wil's book the youngest Cavensham and when he is 19 he thinks himself in love with a distant cousin who agrees to marry him and when he goes ask for her hand he gets the surprise of his life..And his bitterness begins. We meet Thea a countess in charge of Ladykerk but since her grandfather has died a dastly Duke is trying to take everything away from her and she is doing all she can to prove that it belongs to her. We have a budding love, rejections, redemptions a little heartbreak but eventually our HEA...Enjoy!

I so wanted to like this book! The premise was interesting - Scottish law vs English law regarding inheritance of property and title by a woman- and unique. But the potential for a different storyline was derailed by awkward and not very believable dialogue between the main characters. The impression given was of the author wanting to include so many “obligatory” components of Regency romances, along with a “proper” dose of sensual content. So the H and h ended up seeming not unique at all.

Some readers may find the story charming enough to really enjoy it, but it was definitely not my cup of tea.

Edith and Stella were real life fairy godmothers for Thea. They were so determined for her to come out on top with love and happiness she deserved. The so calked journalist writing those snippets of slander about Will and Thea made me furious! It broke my heart that Will was constantly mocked and belittled due to Avalon's greed. He sermed to think less of himself and his worth, and I empathized with him. Avalon was a selfish witch to the bitter end. She had a lot of guts to confront Will. The end of the story had me in happy tears. What a long hard fight for these two, but worth it in the end.

This book was my introduction’s read to Mrs Janna MacGregor’s work.
I preordered this book because of its intriguing blurb and I was also lucky to be provided an advanced copy by Netgalley and the publisher St Martin’s press.
As part of a series, I do know many of the characters were introduced in the previous books but never I felt lost, it definitely can be read as a standalone.
It has been a while since a book was able to make me shred tears, I laugh, swoon, felt hurt or angry and arch for the characters but I really never cry.
It was no sad tears, but happy ones because of the moving last scene.
Will and Thea began their relationship on the wrong foot. They each refused the other as a potential prospect simply because it was suggested by their friends and family. Plus they registered words said but did not took time to comprehend them really.
Will thinks she rejects him because she doesn’t want him, while in fact she first is not keen to marry and second won’t commit simply with the first man she meets and Will is this one. He too thought to refuse the match but when she first said she won’t marry him, it took it as personal while it was only rhetorical.
As the more they get to know another, the more they feels drawn to the other, they quickly develop a friendship that evolve to more. I arched for Thea and each humiliating moments her mishaps caused to her, but also for Will when he thought he was no good enough for her and felt dismissed but I cheered each time Will ran to her help or to confort her and when Thea accepted his suit.
I loved Will’s family, they are so supporting, not afraid to shake him if they think he deserves it. They are a close bunch, always there for their own, when one is in need, they gather and stand behind or next.
I felt Thea’s joy to become part of this family, she for once experiences what it is like to belong and share after so many arid years alone.
Sure the last twist had me on edge, impossible to turn off the light until I had read the last word (I knew from the beginning where was the charter, but it didn’t impacted my reading), so I got to bed with tears on my eyes after a heartening last chapter as I do suppose the epilogue was more to introduce the next book in the series.
Usually I’m upset when my hero or heroine makes wrong decisions, I would have been angry at Thea for hurting Will, but she is fair and kind and didn’t conceal behind false reasons or why she does that nor hides her sentiments so I could only follow them to the final part of their emotionally bumpy journey.
A big fat 5 stars for this touching tale.

I only have one question, is there a book retracing Will’s parents story?

I have to say that, although the ouverture of this novel is full of promise, the content in the middle and towards the end are a little outstretched.

Thea is left on her own to manage the family's estate, but there is always the greedy villain who wants what she has.

Will has been jilted once and has sworn not to get married. He is kindhearted, loyal and very family orientated.

When Will's aunt asks him to meet Thea with a solution that could solve all her problems, he reluctantly agrees to pay her a visit. They become fast friends and his urge to help her takes over. Even though friendship is all they want, they experience feelings which are far from normal. Can Will manage to help Thea whilst sorting out his feelings for her?

Thea has some tough decisions to make as well as coming to terms with what she feels for Will. The family dynamics showcasing past characters of this series are invigorating. The support, understanding and unconditional love are admirable. Even though, parts of this story were drawn out, it's an enjoyable read.

I was kindly issued with an eARC from Netgalley and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

The Rogue Most Wanted
By: Janna MacGregor

This is my second book in the Cavensham series I have read and so far it is my favorite. I really enjoyed the plot, we follow Theodora, a young levelheaded and practical woman who has inherited a Scottish Title (meaning females can inherit) and the estate, with the people she cares about, as well. However she is having to fight for her birthright from a male cousin who believes the title should go to a male heir, him. And we also follow William, a man who once believed in falling in love and basically happily ever after, until he was jilted and his heart broken. I love how both characters began as friends and their friendship developed into something more. I flew through the first half of the story and enjoyed how cute and lovable their friendship and family relationships were. There were so many laugh out loud moments and pull your hair moments, but mostly for me that had to do that I wanted more drama and detail on the “fighting for your estate front”. I am so happy I read this installment, I highly recommend it, and I can’t wait for the next installment.

I usually LOVE anything that Janna MacGregor writes so it feels weird for me to say that wasn't my favorite.

This book started off strong with an interesting prologue that has William, the hero, jilted by a woman he intends to marry. I usually gobble this kind of thing up because 'once burned by love' stories are often delicious. But this initial heartbreak/betrayal didn't seem to affect the hero very much throughout the story. In fact, William seemed like a pretty well-adjusted dude. And while that's great for William, it wasn't terribly exciting.

I did find Theodora to be a compelling character. It's not often you have a romance heroine who has inherited her own lands/title. I admire Theodora's drive to fight for what was legally hers. But after a while this plot point took up too much focus to hold my interest.

Of course, I will forever love Janna MacGregor. Don't let this review stop you from reading more from her because she is excellent! This is the first time one of her books didn't do much for me and I think it's one of those "it's not you, it's me" scenarios. Thank you, Netgalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
💋💋
WOW
* Sigh *

Janna MacGregor gets me every time, she has my heart pounding and my eyes leaking constantly, what a gift , what a book .

Rogue Most Wanted is William and Theadora’s story .

It’s a magnificent, magical journey through Thea’s memories of her Grandfather and his life with her, and continues with the Romance between herself and Will.
Some of those memories are so beautifully described and emotionally charged .
Get the tissues ready .

Williams life has been tough emotionally too , with a failed betrothal, his efforts have all been family oriented, his life spent helping his brother or father with their estate business.

The couple together are lovely.
They find love slowly but surely and his family welcome her as only the Cavensham’s can .

This is a heartwarming story told in the most romantic way , yes we have a villain , and we have a plot , the latter of them pretty a pretty complex treasure hunt of sorts .

So get your tissues at the ready, your thinking caps on, but mostly enjoy this stunningly beautiful romance from Janna .

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

This was a sweet and simple love story. Thea is in danger of losing her estate and William is wrangled into helping her by his aunt, even if that means marrying her. I liked both characters even if they spent way too long dithering over their feelings for me and making decisions that seem strange. This is not a book that I will likely reread but it is one that I did enjoy reading.

I have enjoyed many other Ms. MacGregor's books, but this one fell a little flat for me. First, I have a problem with the title. There is no rogue in the book. Lord William Cavensham had his heart broken when he was 19 and after that he swore off marriage, that is, until he meets Theadora Worth ten years later, but he's never been a rogue. My favorite character was Aunt Stella. She was a hoot and added a flair to the book. I wasn't a fan of the nasty gossip snippets at the beginning of each chapter. I understand that the villain duke was behind it all, but most of the snippets were just too much. The growing attraction between Will and Thea was a slow burn which was fine, but the book was a very slow read for me. Nothing much happens and then everything is a bit rushed at the end.

Actual Rating: 2.5 stars

This was my first foray into Janna MacGregor's historical romance, and I had mixed feelings about this book. I liked what it was trying to do and certain elements of it, but the execution could have been better. Lady Theodora Worth is the heir to a Scottish title and land from her recently deceased grandfather, but her claim is being threatened by a powerful male relative. She must look into marrying quickly in order to strengthen her claim in the eyes of the male lawmakers. Lord William Cavensham had his heart broken years ago, and is determined to never fall in love again. But he befriends Theo, tries to help her, and slowly falls for her.

Things I liked:

- Theo, and other female side characters are depicted as intelligent and competent.
- The second half of the book contains interesting drama and is well-paced
- A major theme in this book is celebrating the difficult and thankless job of providing care to loved ones with dementia

Things I didn't like:
- The first half of the book is SO slow and mostly dull
- Will sends very mixed signals. He says he isn't interested in Theo, but then proceeds to flirt outrageously. I have no patience for that behavior.
- I was annoyed at the characters who CLEARLY were interested in each other but refused to admit it or talk to it. I dislike lack of communication and self-awareness as a plot device.

I wanted to love this, but while it has some strong elements, it unfortunately was not a hit for me. I received an advance review copy of this book via Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

I have read several of Janna MacGregor's books prior to this one, and really love this author, which lead to high expectations for this book. Sadly, it fell a bit flat for me, but I'm not sure why. I loved that Will and both Thea, but I didn't feel the chemistry between them. This was a good read, but not a great one.
