Rogue Most Wanted is the fifth book in The Cavensham Heiresses series by Janna MacGregor. A historical romance that pulls you in and sweeps you away to another time, another place. I found this to be an emotional roller coaster of emotions that will have you laughing one minute and crying the next. The characters are well-written with intriguing backstories that keep you guessing until the end. I am a fan of MacGregor and look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I am always amazed at how powerfully author Jann MacGregor portrays her characters creating them multifaceted and fully believable. Her development of her storylines is handled with extreme detail leading the reader into her fantasy world of characters.
Lady Theodora Worth has my complete compassion for how she is thrown to the wolves with no training but lots of desire to save her home and the people who depend on her. Her honorable character is something any woman would be proud to exemplify. There are times my stomach tightened when she was put in uncomfortable positions and the author's portrayal of the actions and feelings at that moment are done to perfection.
Lord William Cavensham's character is basically a sweetheart. I am quite sure he would roll in his grave to hear me describe him as such but honestly, he is one of those heartthrob nice guys. Watching his character metamorphosis from being stuck on the past to moving into his future is not without some drama. It was actually quite amusing watching his light bulb go on.
As always there has to be some villain or trouble maker and Ferr-Colby fits the bill. You can feel his sliminess rolling off the pages but this slippery personality also makes him a tough opponent.
5 STARS for the meticulous orchestration of Will and Theo's personal growth in their lives.
R.A.W. E.M.O.T.I.O.N.!! Janna MacGregor has simply outdone herself! Every once in a great while a book comes along that simply blow you out of the water. This is one of those books. A heroine who needs a marriage of convenience to save the family estate; the unwilling hero who has no desire to ever marry, a meddling aunt and her best friend; and members of the Cavensham family making appearances make this a must read.
Rogue Most wanted had wonderful, interesting characters and a awesome storyline. I always love a story with a good rogue and this book did not disappoint.
I love this book. I loved the family aspect of it. I adored Theodora. She was my favorite character. William....sigh
I found this book to be a very enjoyable read with the good storyline and well detailed characters that kept me turning the pages until the very end!
Enjoyed this book - nothing revolutionary and I found the title a bit weird. The hero is anything but a rogue - in fact, the romance is pretty straightforward and the characters are actually pretty honest with each other at all times. The conflict comes from outside the relationship which I enjoyed - miscommunication is overplayed in historical romances and while it's here, it's less of an issue than usual and for that, two thumbs up!
The Cavenshams are back. And this time we see the jaded Lord William Cavensham find his love and rethink his vow to never fall in love.
After losing her grandfather, the only family she had, Lady Theodora Worth, Thea, is left all by herself. She is now the heir to an earldom. But when a distant cousin claims her inheritance, she’s left to fight all by herself. That is until her eccentric neighbour Lady Stella Payne steps in to help her find a husband to influence the committee of Peer’s decision. Lady Stella claims that there is no one better for the position than her nephew William.
Lord William has no intention of falling in love and making himself vulnerable ever again. He agrees to meet his great aunt’s neighbour but has no intention of marriage. That is until he meets the stunning beauty who is not only bold and smart but also striking. He agrees to help her find the document that will verify her claim and help her navigate the waters of the ton not to mention help her find an eligible husband.
Another entertaining and emotional read by one of the best regency romance writers of our time, Janna MacGregor. Can’t wait to read more of this series!!!
Rogue Most Wanted
The Cavensham Heiresses, Book 5
Janna MacGregor, author
It's Springtime in the year of our Lord, 1814 and Lord William Cavensham has been summoned by his dear Great-Aunt, Lady Stella Payne to her estate home in Northumberland, near the Scottish border. The reason; to marry one Lady Theodora Worth, Countess of Eanruig.
William, once jilted ten years prior, has vowed never to love and especially a woman he doesn't know. He covets his heart from further pain and his person from further humiliation, as he is known around London as the, "Damp Squib."
This story-line portrayed well-developed characters that possessed grit, cleverness, charm and kindness. The story itself drew the reader in with all the emotions of humor, disappointment, and down right greediness. Lesson learned, nothing is worth having without fighting for it.
I highly recommend this delightful book. I was afforded an advanced reader copy from the author and I chose to voluntarily leave this review.
Another great book!!! I love anything Janna MacGregor writes! She never disappoints me. Her storytelling astounds me!! Can't wait for her next book!!
Rogue Most Wanted is a really enjoyable Regency romance! The hero and heroine had a wonderful relationship which built up slowly from genuine friendship, which was really refreshing - there's very little insta-lust at all, which is unusual (and welcome!), but their chemistry really shines later on in the book. Idiot plot is at a minimum, too, with most of the obstacles in their way being down to a question of inheritance and titles that may force the heroine to marry someone else, but there is good communication between hero and heroine throughout, and they're never left to believe the other doesn't care for them. They seem genuinely, believably well-suited, and it was a joy to read.
This one did not disappoint me. As I expected from the beginning I was immersed into this story. I loved all the characters for what they were: loyal, respectful, loving, caring...
Even though I knew what will be the outcome, I still was at the edge of my seat at times.
Highly recommend!
Raised on a remote Scottish estate by her adoring grandfather, Lady Theodora Worth has inherited an earldom as well as the land itself. But when an upstart duke challenges her claim to the title and the Ladykyrk estate, Thea is suddenly in need of a husband—in name, at least. An elderly neighbor with a thoroughly modern sensibility and a dashing great-nephew just might be the answer to Thea’s prayers. Except she has no intention of marrying the first man she meets. That would be utterly ridiculous. Lord William Cavensham is entirely too devoted to his family’s estate—ever since he was jilted as a lad--to wed, but he agrees to meet the woman his aunt has taken under her wing—and introduce her to possible suitors. But after just one meeting with beautiful, spirited Thea, Will is determined to help her reclaim her title. And even moreso, he can’t stop thinking that perhaps marriage to this bold, passionate woman may be the one thing he’s been missing all along?
This author has become one of my favorite authors so I had high expectations for this book. It didn’t disappoint! I loved both characters and the overall plot. I read through it pretty quickly. I highly recommend.

Thea Worth is an endearing, kind, heartfelt character. I loved her as a person. It pained me to see her making a faux pas and realizing it. How hard it was on her due to the embarrassment. She has not had the proper upbringing her peers did.
She has struggled through hard times, hard situations, and hard choices. Things no young lady should have had to endure and shoulder alone. She has run the vast estate for years as her grandfather’s mental health continued to decline to such a state he could not attend functions or leave the property. She has had no social opportunities whatsoever – not even friends. She is intelligent and independent, and lacks the social graces, but is a prize in some eyes with the Scottish estate and her inheritance.
If she can find a man to marry her before everything is swiped away from her by her vile, manipulative cousin. He is convinced – out of his own selfish motivations – in his accusation that Thea killed their grandfather and he intends to challenge the title. The fact that she’s just lost the one person most important in her life has no bearing on him. He will toss Thea out without hesitation or a backward glance. She knows the tenants and cares about them. He is only interested in the value of the land and doesn’t care one iota about the people who reside there. Thea has to protect her people and her home.
By grace, the neighboring property is owned by Stella Cavensham, a well-connected woman. She acts as Thea’s godmother and offers her assistance to the cause. The obvious order of business is obtaining a husband. The first thing on the list is her magnificent nephew, who is needing to settle down. Unfortunately, Lord William Cavensham has no intention of marrying. Ever. But if his aunt Stella asks…his arm just might be crooked correctly for a crusade down the aisle for his cherished aunt.
William carries the title of a rogue, but he is anything but. I’m not sure why that’s even part of the title. At a young age, he had his heartbroken completely. He’s carried this pain with him. He stays away from women and invests all his time running the family estates. He is integral to the family workings as the younger son, but he is Stella’s favorite, and so she plans to disinherit him if he doesn’t marry Stella.
Upon meeting, William realizes Theodora Worth is more than just a fluff of tulle on the marriage mart. She’s engaging and different. The more time he spends in Thea’s presence, his opposition to love is minutely chiseled away. Perhaps it’s worth the risk?
While intelligent, Thea’s lack of social training and the ways of the ton make her feel like she isn’t a solid marriage prospect. It doesn’t help matters that rumors are spreading about her. In the vein of support and her own selfish desires, Stella teaches Thea how to become a desirable bride.
One of my struggles reading this book was the continued angst of pitting Thea and William against one another about actually marrying. Both strangle the idea that “I can’t marry you”. Nothing stands in their way except themselves, and too much time and plot was dedicated to rehashing the same broken record with no forward momentum.
I was surprised by Thea’s choices to disregard her virtue. She seemed unconcerned with the fact of being a virgin on her wedding night. At first, it shocked me, but she didn’t have really any upbringing in societal norms. She wouldn’t have placed the same value – and fear – in being unvirtuous as another peer with proper education would.
I STRUGGLED with this book. I didn't really enjoy the plot, but I liked the characters themselves. They were enough to keep me reading to the end,
I received this from Netgalley in exchange for honest review. Theodora just got the news that someone is wanting to take her rightful inheritance and needs a husband for protection. Will has had his heart broken and is not looking to get married. When their paths cross romance blossoms. I just was not a huge fan the story moved slow at times.

Lord William is absolutely sure he is deeply in love with Lady Avalon, and proposes, only to be rebuffed, she is to marry another. William is heartbroken. And remains this way for many years.
Lady Theodora Worth is the new heir to the Earldom of Eanruig, a title she inherits from her grandfather, as seems to be the case with certain titles in Scotland. Thea has spent much of the last seven years caring for her grandfather and running his estates. Her grandfather had dementia and hide items from Thea, or those he perceived to be a threat including the document that shows the line of those who should inherit the title. This becomes the focus of Thea’s time as she must defend her right to the title from her cousin. She must also learn the ton etiquette as she is very much clueless about these things, even pouring tea. After her case is denied, Thea returns home to lick her wounds, but finds comfort, and her HEA.
Thea has the backing of the Duke and Duchess of Langham, and also every other member of William’s family who want them to be together, and are pushing them together. William is reluctant as he believes he should feel a connection immediately with the woman he is supposed to love, even though he does feel something for Thea. A feeling he constantly denies, even inviting his friends to meet Thea so she might select one of them if she needs a fake fiancé for her court case.
I am loving this series around the Caversham family. They all find their match and forever love. This particular story has the interesting thread with Thea being from the fringes of society and with gossip swirling about if she murdered her grandfather. She doesn’t have the society skills the normal girl or young woman of the times should. These caused Thea some distress when she failed, but was triumphant when she had her successes. Thea is like the fish out of water.

In Janna MacGregor's Rogue Most Wanted, the 5th installment in the Cavensham Heiresses Historical Romance series, this wonderful love story would sweep you off your feet like an enchanted fairy tale. For Theodora "Thea" Worth, she's been known as Lady Eanruig from Ladykyrk Manor in Northumberland ever since her grandfather died. But seven years after his death, she kept to herself and managed the mansion until Lord Ferr-Coby challenged her title as the true heir for the estate. And she would need to prove her claim or marry someone in front of the House of Privileges. For Lord William Cavensham, he's been broken-hearted for a decade when he proposed to his third cousin Avalon and was jilted from her. Ever since then, he'd been unlucky in love and paid more attention to do manorial work for his family. But when his Aunt Stella proposed that he should marry to benefit them both, he said no. But later, he came her friend and true confident when they revealed their heartful woes to one another. Slowly but surely, he and his family helped her prepare to enter society and for the committee meeting, even by setting her up with three friends to better suit her and her needs. But he became smitten with her and fell head over heels with her, claiming hers as her own. But she's looking to marry for love and not for convenience, even when she put up a fake proposal to show the London ton she's ready to do battle for her title. At the committee meeting, she failed short and lost the match, when she has no choice but to return home and accept Ferr-Coby's next marriage proposal. Even though it had broken his heart, she would do anything to salvage the pieces and look for the second charter. If and when she finds it, she would reclaim what's hers and find her true fairytale ending she had ever dreamed of and hoped for.

Blurb: Lady Theodora Worth needs to marry fast in order to keep her estate. It’s been her heart and home for years, and she’ll not lose it to anyone. There’s just one problem as a woman who was raised in isolation by her grandfather, she’s completely incapable of pouring a cup of tea, never mind wooing a man. She’ll need a little matchmaking help from her sprightly next-door neighbor in order to find a convenient husband.
Lord William Cavensham’s heart was broken years ago, and since that day he vowed to never love again. But his spirited Great Aunt Stella is determined he’ll marry or not inherit a single penny from her. And she’s got just the woman in mind her beautiful and completely hapless next-door neighbor. Thea and Will agree there’s no sense in marrying each other. Will wholeheartedly believes he’s incapable of love, and Thea refuses to marry the first man she’s practically met. But Will may be the rogue Thea wants the most after all.
This is a new to me author. I liked the premise of the book but the execution was lacking. The pacing of the book is slow. The H was likable, good guy, and not a rogue. I didn’t care for the h and found her annoying. The aunt was a character I enjoyed her the most.
Thank you to the publisher for providing the ARC.
This book will make your heart pitter patter and make you smile at the antics of Will and Thea who are being pushed together by his aunt. Thea will make your heart go out to her and the life she had while caring for her grandfather and fighting her cousin for the estate. Though Thea and Will are determined not to fall in love, it creeps up on them. But a deal Thea has to make her cousin will have you in tears. But never fear, love has a way of trumping the odds. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
